True Blood: There's a new Claude in town!

You either love what Alan Ball has done with Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire Mysteries (Sookie Stackhouse series) or you don't. He adds characters, changes up plot lines, and I've adored a lot of it, not all of it, but enough that I never question Ball, just enjoy where his version of the story goes. This is one instance when Alan Ball makes me nervous.

Meet Claude. His True Blood character is described as a smooth charmer who might shake things up in season 5. Newcomer Giles Matthey has landed the multi-episode role of a hot and mysterious British fairy. As to what he'll be up to exactly is up in the air at the moment, and don't believe anything that Michael Mcmillian says about the character, unless Chris Meloni really is a unicorn this season. One report claims that Claude and Jessica will be paired up, which may put a damper the truck bed and costume sex she has with Jason. As of right now nothing is confirmed.

In the books there of course is no Jessica, but there is Claude. There he is described as “the nephew of Sookie’s half-human/half-fairy grandfather, Fintan, and cousin to Sookie’s father … He makes an impact on all women and is described as being absolutely breathtaking , so lovely that his proximity makes Sookie tense as a “high wire.”… He started out as a stripper at Hooligans, a club in Monroe, which he later becomes owner of, and has branched out to print and runway modeling … He is depicted as being six feet tall with rippling black hair, muscles, and a six-pack. He has a pair of brown, velour-soft eyes, a chiseled jaw, and a sensuous mouth with a pouty bottom lip...Women usually say ‘wow’ when they see him, but his interest is men.”

I guess he could pass for the general description, but in the books Claude does do a stint as a Romance Novel Cover Model,and although cute Matthey doesn't really fit the image of any Romance Novel cover I own, or er, you know what I mean.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy, did Ball get the casting right? Or is he a little off the mark with this one? I guess all we can do now is wait and find out.
