Bitten S02E04 Recap: Dead Meat

Elena awakens to doctors shining lights in her eyes, cutting away at her clothes, but she's bound and still pretty much out of it. A tongue depressor is used as her saliva is taken as a sample. A lock of hair is taken. The room is full of specimens from all sorts of creatures. Aleister comes to check in on his newest pet. He tells her that she's the one that they've been waiting for, that she's the most powerful werewolf, and her blood will be the undoing. Aleister brands her neck with the giant devil's penis mark. I do hope that there's a way to remove that, it'd be an awful scar for the rest of the series. Elena passes out.

She awakens in a cell. She's sore, and semi naked, but someone was nice enough to leave her a tank top. Elena looks for a way out of her cement cage. She finds a weak spot in the wall and gives it a great big kick. It gives way, and she's able to make a small hole. A girl's voice is on the other side, its Savannah. Elena covers the hole from prying eyes when she hears footsteps coming her way. A pair of people come in, and taze her into unconsciousness.

Jeremy continues to make calls to find Elena. Clay has found nothing on foot. Ruth tells the men that Paige has made a connection telepathically with Savannah. She's upset that they haven't come to get her yet. Ruth asks if Aleister has ever asked about their powers. Savannah tells her that he already knows about them, that its not a big deal. Ruth stresses that Aleister may seem nice but he's not, and that he cannot be trusted. Clay wants to know about if Elena has been brought in. She tells them that a woman came in saying that her name was Elena. Savannah takes notice and interest in Clay, and if he's a wolf. Ruth tries to get Savannah back on subject, and Savannah grows frustrated that her questions aren't being answered. She tells them that Elena was just taken for more testing. This news distresses everyone. Ruth wants to know if they do testing on her, and Clay wants to know what type of testing is being done on Elena. Savannah doesn't get a chance to answer any questions, someone comes to retrieve her and she has to sever the connection with Paige quickly. Paige is left slightly disoriented, and has to ground herself, for now the channel is closed. Jeremy assures Clay that they will find Elena.

Elena struggles in her restraint. An overly smily doctor asks how she's feeling, she took out four drugs in her fight. Elena warns her that she won't like what happens next. The doctor hopes that means that she will turn into a werewolf. Until Elena they had never seen a female werewolf. Elena asks why they want her. The doctor tells her that they just want to study her. Elena doesn't believe her, and then the doctor goes all cult speaking about the undoing. She promises her that once the tests are done she can do for a run. They go through some auditory tests, and she's surprised even in human form she can still hear canine frequencies.

Logan arrives at the compound, exiting out of the dead collection vehicle.

Aleister meets with Savannah. He thanks her for her vision, telling her that the witches tried to trade for her like she was nothing more than an object. She thinks that they were concerned for her, he tells her that they were trying to control her. When she doesn't immediately come around to his way of thinking he uses the whole “I am the lock” and she answers with “I am the Key.” He tells her again that they're trying to control her, and she believes him. They never let her do anything, they treat her like a child. Aleister tells her that he won't let them take her, she's important to what he's doing. He tells her that she has a new neighbor, a werewolf. They have to lock her in for her own safety, but she has the intercom at her disposal. He snaps his fingers, and brings her out of her trance. He asks her what spell she would like to try. She hasn't come into her powers yet. He's sure that she will any day now. He notices that she's angry, angry at her coven for trying to control her, to try to stop her from reaching her full potential. He tells her to focus on the nearby glass, to let the emotion wash over her. She raises her right hand, but he tells her to lead with her left. As she concentrates the glass comes towards her. Its never happened before, and shes in awe.

Logan locates Rachel in with a pair of doctors, but he can't get to her yet without raising alarms.

Savannah's blood is tested against Elena's. It doesn't give the result that she was looking for. Aleister comes with the good news about Savannah. She's coming into her own power quickly, and he plans to move up her sessions. The doctor doesn't understand why he doesn't just harness her power, to use it through her, but he insists that Savannah needs to come to their path on her own. They're almost there. The doctor delivers the bad news. The wolf samples that she has have all yielded the same results. The wolf blood should be attacking the witch blood, but its not. He asks about the female. She hasn't changed into a wolf yet. Fear and sensory stress have caused the others to transform, but they have yet to find anything to make her change. She's truly a remarkable subject. Aleister cautions her not to become attached. Doctor Sondra is thankful for the opportunity that she's provided. Aleister warns her not to confuse her true purpose, they need her wolf blood. Sondra is quick to tell him that she is there for him and the undoing. He chose her for a purpose, she will get him what he needs.

Nick heard what happened to Paige. Jeremy and Clay are very anxious. He asks if she can reach Savannah again. It's not so simple. Paige can't just reconnect. He asks about the marble trick, but they can't use that either, if they could they would. Paige is just feeling everything too much at the moment, too powerless. Nick laughs at that. She made him believe his eyes were bleeding the first time that he met her, she's anything but powerless. They have a common enemy now, and Nick is sure that they will get their people back. Nick's flirting is a little much here, I love a flirty Nick more than anyone else, but a Nick and Paige hook up that's being set up, no thanks.

Ruth works with Jeremy, and they've got the cult member's body. There's a small electrical charge left in the brain after death for a short time, and they may be able to reach her. Not for a funeral rite, but for information. Rather contacting Jaimie to work with the dead like in the books, it looks like Ruth is planning to go all necromancer.

Sondra tries to appeal to Elena's stomach with a larger breakfast. The taser twins are on standby. Sondra promises no drugs, and even eats some chicken with her. Elena reluctantly eats. Sondra claims that they need just one more sample from her, and Elena doesn't understand, they've taken samples from everywhere. Sondra explains that they need her blood after she's turned into a wolf. Sounds simple enough, and Elena is refusing to give it. She throws away the chicken. Sondra warns her that if she won't give it willingly, they'll take it. Elena knows that Sondra isn't her friend, and she asks why Sondra isn't hypnotized like the rest. She doesn't need the focus to be on board. Her work is being used, and she thinks that Elena can help unlock so many secrets. Sondra sees that Elena is blind, but she will soon see. Elena points out that she nearly made her deaf too, and that wasn't to protect her. As they take her back to her cell, Elena takes in everything.

Paige tries to talk Ruth out of talking with the dead. It is dark magic, left hand path. It is not their way, and no one in their coven has tried it in a long time. Ruth is concerned that Aleister could lead her down a left hand path. Paige finds it preposterous that she would gamble on ifs. Ruth is sure its a when, and that Aleister is somehow a witch. If Aleister is a witch that means that someone broke the commandment, maybe someone like Ruth.

Elena is lead back to her cell, and she heads straight to the hole. Savannah is less than enthused that Elena is even talking to her. Elena tells her that she's breaking out, and taking Savannah with her. She asks if Savannah has ever been outside, and what she sees when she is. Savannah works on her left handed magic, and she's less than helpful. Elena tries to assure her that Aleister is trying to use her, that they came to her pack for help. Savannah tells her that because of her she's locked up. Elena tries to get through to her that her family just wants her back. Ruth and Paige aren't Savannah's family, her mother is dead. Elena knows that family isn't just the people that you're born to. Savannah has had enough banter with Elena, she calls on the intercom, that Elena is bothering her. One of the taser twins comes in, and delivers more than a few shocks to Elena, while Savannah listens in horror.

Jeremy finds Ruth applying ceremonial drawings to her hands. He offers to help, being a painter himself, and Ruth accepts his help. He asks how many witches are in her coven. It's just her and Paige now since Savannah was taken and Bridgette was killed. There are several small covens. Jeremy notes that he understands what its like playing so close to the heart. She once said that witches never have male children, and yet one seems to exist. How is there a male witch? Ruth doesn't know she claims, but Jeremy sees that she's holding back. Ruth claims that she is telling him everything that he knows and doing all that she can to find their people.

A guard comes out of the house where Rachel is being kept, and Logan grabs him, snapping his neck. He heads inside. Rachel is so glad to see him. A bell sounds. Logan tells her that he knows where they keep the vehicles, and he's getting her out. She warns him that the bell sounded, which means that they're coming for her. They can't wait for nightfall they have to go now.

Elena wakes up in a different cage. She tries to get her barrings in the dark, looking for a way out, or a weak spot. A blinding light turns on. Sondra and Aleister watch. Across the way, another wolf is caged. He thinks that she told them where to find him. Elena recognizes the voice, Richard. When the doors open he plans to kill her. Sondra tells them that they have a short time to change so they can measure combat. Elena warns him not to change, not to give them what they want. Richard is bitter, he told her everything that he knew, and she still gave him up to these awful people. Sondra begins counting down. Elena tells him that she didn't give him up, they want them to change, and once they do they'll die. Richard thinks she's trying to fool him. She points out that there were other wolves there, and now they're in jars. Richard begins to change, but Elena refuses. Sondra is concerned, Richard is much bigger than Elena. If she doesn't change she won't stand a chance. Aleister is sure that she'll be fine, he's seen what she can do. He also thinks that she's on the verge of changing. He doesn't care id she lives or dies, so long as she changes first. Elena comes out as a human and submits to the wolf much to the shock and dismay of Aleister and Sondra. Sondra calls for the guards to restrain Richard. Richard takes on one guard, and Elena finally gets to turn the table on the Taser happy one, tasing the heck out of her with her own baton. Elena and Richard get away, but Aleister isn't concerned. He's sure that they won't get far.

The alarms are ringing. Rachel and Logan continue to run for it. Rachel is sure that they'll figure out that she's gone soon. Over the intercom, Sondra announces that 2 have escaped and that the female needs to be apprehended alive. Rachel assumes its her, and they run faster.

Elena and Richard make it to the outside, and head straight for the wolves.

Logan and Rachel are full out running too.

The guards shoot tranqs at Elena and Richard, but they push forward through the pain, the wolf begins to smoke.

Rachel can't run further, the mark on her neck is burning. They're surrounded, and have no choice but to surrender.

The symbol marks the tree line, and its smoking. Wolfy Richard whines, but presses on. When he passes the trees with the symbols his head explodes. Elena goes down in pain, and because of the tranquilizers. Aleister taunts her, he can't let her go before she gives him what he wants. Elena passes out.

Clay did a missing person's search, and found the name of their dead cult member, Melanie Lau. Ruth thanks him for his information, and for keeping it from his pack. Its not something Ruth wants getting out. They aren't sure just how much or little they'll get from Melanie. Ruth begins with the spell. She feels something. She tells Paige to focus her energy at the north candle, and then Melanie's spirit takes over. Paige tries to get the information she needs from Melanie, but all she speaks about is needing to keep her job. Paige asks more specifically about Savannah, and Melanie speaks with more zeal through Ruth. Savannah is the key to the unmaking. Ruth collapses down on Melanie's body, and Melanie and Ruth rise up together. Paige is concerned, this is not suppose to happen. Jeremy presses on, asking more questions. When is the undoing. Melanie tells them that they all must die for the undoing. Melanie feels sick, she needs to see Dr. Bauer. Paige begs Jeremy to let her go, this is killing her mother. Paige severs their connection.

Elena awakens back in the lab, under Sondra's care. Aleister arrives. Sondra warns her that this is her last chance, to take it. Aleister knows that if you want to have something done you have to do it yourself. He brought Sondra in but she was weak. He knows Elena isn't weak though, he saw her kill Malcolm. She warns him that she will kill him too. She won't change, he'll have to kill her. Someone will die he warns. He brings in Rachel, and Elena is instantly more pliable. But Aleister does a Darth Vader force choke, and Elena begs him to stop, she'll change. She just needs a moment. Elena prepares herself to change. As she strips down, Aleister admires the view. Rachel looks away as Elena goes through the full transformation, but Aleister makes her watch.

Ruth struggles to get warm. Paige apologizes for breaking the connection so suddenly, but she feared for her life. Ruth is glad to be home, but Paige gently reminds her that they're still at Stonehaven. Paige thought that they could trust the wolves, but Ruth knows that they have to tread lightly with the wolves. Their first instinct is to kill, which doesn't make them trustworthy.

Jeremy takes a drink, Nick and Clay join him. He tells them about the lead Ruth uncovered in Dr. Bauer, and that Ruth revealed that there are more covens, some even know that they've been in contact with them. Jeremy thinks that they should keep the fact that Paige and Ruth are still there hidden. If the alpha council discovers that they're working with witches, and that they know about them, then there's going to trouble. Clay doesn't think the witches can be trusted, but Nick points out that Ruth just put her life on the line for them, that they can be trusted. Jeremy reveals that they aren't being told everything, that they can only trust them enough to get their people back, that they cannot let their guard all the way down.

Sondra works with her blood samples, finally getting the one she needs. The blood does not react how she expected, and she worries over the results. Sondra looks over Elena's blood, drawing it into a syringe.

Elena lays down in her cell. Savannah calls out to her, she's sorry for getting her hurt, for calling the guard on her. Elena assures her that she's fine. Savannah thought she was dead. Elena admits that she thought so too for awhile. Savannah is so confused, she's unsure who to trust. Elena can relate. She tells her that the way she makes that decision is to decide who is by her side when she's at her worse. Ruth and Paige have been that person. Then they're her family. Savannah still thinks that they want to control her, but Elena is sure they only want to protect her. It's a dine line sometimes, but they're not giving up on her, they want to find her badly. She asks if Savannah can see the moon, she can. Elena shares a secret with her. She lost her parents when she was young, she felt alone. She would tell herself that her new family was out there waiting for her. The moon is special to Savannah's coven too. Her coven is out there, searching for her, and they will find them. Until then, Elena will protect her. She understands what its like to be scared and alone and not knowing who to trust, she promises to protect her. She sticks her hand through the wall, and Savannah grabs a hold of it as she cries.

Under the moonlight, surrounded by torches and followers, Sondra has sex with Aleister. He tells her her that she failed him, that she didn't get it to work. She needs more time, and she makes her own sacrifice as she plunges the vial of Elena's blood into her leg. Her body shakes as the transformation takes her.

Midnight Boy (Melodifestivalen 2015) Interview

Midnight Boy Talks Music, The 1980's, Hair, & Melodifestivalen

One of the greatest parts of viewing Melodifestivalen is the show's ability to introduce its viewers to an array of new and upcoming (or reviving) artists. This year, one such example of this is Midnight Boy, a Swedish synthpop artist who derives much of his musical inspiration from the glamorous 1980's. Midnight Boy is about to compete in Heat 4 of this year's contest but was kind enough to take time out to answer a few of our questions about his musical artistry.

~~~~
Hello, Midnight Boy! Thank you for taking time to speak with Museled.com ~
Museled: For those not familiar, tell us a bit about your musical background and how it is that you got your start in the music industry.
Midnight Boy: Music and theatre has been a part of my life as far as I can remember. In my early days, I used to sneak into my mother's bedroom to borrow some of her accessories and make-up. I wore it in front of the mirror while I was dancing and singing to my favourite Michael Jackson and Prince tunes.
When I finished school, music became an even bigger part of my life and I've never had a "real job" really. I started playing at pubs and all kinds of places to earn a living. I moved to Stockholm in 2008 which was a big step for me. I was able to buy some recording gear and got into songwriting and production more seriously. When I eventually got my own studio, I pretty much lived in that place and that's where Midnight Boy was born. I was contacted by my current management and record company as I was trying to get a scholarship from Stim (a Swedish performing rights society) in late 2012 and released my first single "Roll with it" in 2013.
Watch the music video for Midnight Boy's "Roll With It" here:
Museled: Your music is very much inspired by the 1980's. What is it that you love about that decade?
Midnight Boy: Musically, I would say it's the groove and the melodies and also the synths of course - I love synths. In a broader perspective, it's more about an attitude to life. The 80's was a lot about craziness and very little about boundaries, which I find very inspiring. I think we all should be more experimental instead of judgemental when it comes to our identities and have a more open mind to ourselves and the people around us.
Museled: Your hair appears to combine the big-permed-hair trend of the '80s and the shaved bit [on the side] that's become trendy in the last few years. Was this a deliberate choice to reflect your work?
Midnight Boy: I've always had long hair so shaving one side was a pretty big surprise to my family and many of my friends. It wasn't really a deliberate thing, I just wanted to try something different.
Museled: How important is the visual element of your music to your overall artistry?
Midnight Boy: It is very important. I think it helps people to understand the "Midnight Boy" thing. I just recorded a music video for "Don't Say No" that will be released on Youtube tomorrow, on the first of March. I love to get really deep into the process. I also have some plans to do a short film later on.
Edit: Watch the music video for Midnight Boy's "Don't Say No" here:
Museled: What sort of impact would you like for your music to make on those who listen to it?
Midnight Boy: Hard question. I don't think that matters really, as long as it does make an impact. It could be anything. Music needs no instructions.
Museled: Tell us about your Melodifestivalen song "Don't Say No" and the inspiration behind it.
Midnight Boy: It's a groovy tune about peoples' right to their own expression. I wrote it with Kristoffer Östergren and Olle Blomström which was an interesting collaboration. Me and Kristoffer were pretty much yelling at each other during the whole process while Olle was more calm, trying to put our ideas together.
Museled: What are some of your favourite Melodifestivalen songs/performances and why?
Midnight Boy: I think Loreen was amazing. She sort of changed something and I think she's so talented. That's probably my number one favourite.
Museled: Tell us about your upcoming EP and what we can look forward to from it.
Midnight Boy: I wrote some of my best songs during 2014 and I'm really excited to put them out there. There are a lot of interesting things going on right now and I'm not sure of how and when it will be released yet so I can't tell you too much right now, I'm afraid.
Museled: Who are some international and Swedish artists you'd like to collaborate with?
Midnight Boy: There are so many! I've always dreamt of working with Vince Clark (Depeche Mode, Yazoo, The Assembly, Erasure). That would be rad! In Sweden, I'd love to give it a try with Kleerup, Markus Krunegård, Vincent Pontare, to name a few.
Museled: Being that this isn't a Swedish outlet, we have to ask; any upcoming plans for touring or promotion outside of Sweden?
Midnight Boy: I had a blast while I was touring in LA last year in April and I would love to go back. It would be fun also to visit more cities in the U.S. and Europe of course! There are no scheduled plans right now but hopefully there will be soon.
Thank you for your time, Midnight Boy, and we look forward to hearing and seeing more from you!
Banshee S3E8 - "All the Wisdom I Got Left" Recap
Lucas and Brock are on the hunt for Chayton. They follow a lead to the French Quarter, where they come across Chayton in an underground street fight. Chayton kills his opponent, immediately after which Lucas jumps into the ring and begins to fight Chayton while the crowd cheer them on and Brock watched in horror before shooting off a warning shot to break up the fight. Unfortunately, the club owner running the fight has his gunned muscle draw their weapons and tells Chayton to let Lucas go since he can't have a dead cop ruining his business. Lucas and Brock are forced to retreat for now.
Proctor is informed by Burton that they're showing more profit than what they should based on their sales and Proctor simply tells him to look into it.
Job confronts Sugar about his taking more money but Sugar remains undeterred, as he claims to need it for something important. Job follows Sugar to a boxing studio where Sugar is forced to admit that he gave the money to Oscar Cruz, Jr. a man whose father was forced into a fight he wasn't ready for and that Sugar had beaten so badly that he would never speak again.
Rebecca is preparing to do a deal but Burton arrives and disarms the man she has running her errands. Burton determines that Rebecca is violating the agreement with Fraser and selling to the Salvadorians, which she doesn't deny. Rebecca tries to offer up a sexual favour to Burton but finds that he is missing the equipment necessary to do so. Burton tells Rebecca that she must tell Proctor the truth herself and Rebecca implores him to see that Proctor is being weakened by his new girlfriend and that if Proctor must choose between Rebecca and Burton, Burton is the one who will be abandoned. Burton is not too pleased by this suggestion.
In a flashback, we see Proctor and Burton meet for the first time while bloody and trapped in a cell together. Proctor kills one torturer and saves the other for Burton to dispose of.
Job reveals to Sugar that Oscar Cruz, Sr. died back in 2007 and that Oscar's son has been collecting the money ever since by forging signatures on hospital bills. Job retrieves the money and also lays a smack down on Oscar Jr. Sugar then admits that he was vicious in beating Oscar Sr. because the woman Sugar loved, loved Oscar more. Job admits that he didn't give Sugar all the money back.
Lucas tracks Chayton down and attacks him in his room. After a bit of a brawl, Chayton jumps out and down below and takes off running with Lucas hot on his trail. Lucas catches up to him and shoots him dead. It's gruesome.
Proctor and Emily are dragged away from the Amish church service by Fraser and his men. Rebecca runs after them and fires a gun but it doesn't do a thing except get the rest of the community to stare judgementally at her.
Col. Bunker appears to have realised that Carrie must have been involved in the heist and he's not too happy about it. He's putting together all of the inner-workings of the various members of this team and is on the hunt for them. He shuts down Camp Genoa, and says that they will make the thieves pay.
Banshee airs on Fridays on Cinemax at 10PM.
Maya promises Alden she can help him, and at first it looks like she can, until the supernatural world in which he lives wants him back. Can Alden convince Maya his delusions are real in time to save her, or has he just sentenced a woman who cares for him despite his past transgressions to a fate worse than death?
Archer S6E8 - "The Kanes" Recap
Lana and Archer take a trip to Berkeley so Lana's parents can meet their granddaughter. Lana stresses to Archer that he needs to make a better impression than the first time he met them, when showed up to dinner drunk as can be. Also, her parents are operating under the impression that Lana is studying to get her PhD (as is Archer), having no idea that their daughter is actually a spy. Lana tells Archer she'll kill him if he tells them.
Archer goes in the hot tub but is made uncomfortable when Lana's parents come in entirely naked and force Archer to be naked too. He makes things very awkward when he thinks that Lana's parents are propositioning him for a threesome when they were actually planning on sharing a secret. Things are interrupted when Lana's microbiologist father's research is stolen by a group of masked gunmen. Archer shoots after them and is able to shoot the driver which causes them to crash. Lana's parents demand to know why Archer has a gun but there's little time to talk as Archer, Lana, and Lana's father must chase the rest of the gunmen through the streets of San Francisco.
As this is going on, Krieger, Pam, Cheryl, Cyril, and Krieger's virtual girlfriend run out of gas in a rough neighbourhood while on their way to the league bowling night. Pam must then tow the car singlehandedly while no one else will help, though they certainly pretend to. Pam pushes the group to get rid of all the bowling balls so the car will be lighter and easier to tow. Cheryl does so but they end up hitting a car full of gang members. Pam recognises one of the gang members from their time in a fight club together and patches things up by promising that Krieger will fix the car while she takes him out to a titty-bar.
Lana's father reveals that his research was intended to be a new renewable fuel source out of algae which could reproduce infinitely and the only by-product would be water. It was potentially worth millions or even billions of dollars. As the chase carries on, Lana is forced to admit to her father that she is a spy. Lana's father is disappointed in Lana for not pursuing a career in science and that she could never tell her parents how she felt because of her fear of letting them down. Her father assures her that he and her mother will always love her even when she makes stupid decisions like having a baby with Archer.
Archer is preparing to ram the car full of gunmen but before doing so, he presses Lana's father to say what the secret was that he was planning on saying and it turns out it was that they wanted to invite Archer to the Kane family reunion. As the shootout was going on, they learn that the group of gunmen was a CIA-team led by Christian Slater, who says that the research is a threat to national security since it will flare up further conflict in the Middle East if no one needs their oil anymore. He then tells Lana's father to check his bank account, in which a large deposit has been sent and when he learns that this will be a monthly deposit for the rest of the life, he is more than happy to surrender his life's work. On the plane ride home, Lana apologises to Archer by hurting his feelings and not inviting him to the family reunion and Archer apologises for trying to have a three-way with her parents.
Archer airs on Thursdays on FX at 10PM.
How To Get Away With Murder S1E15 (S1 Finale) - "It's All My Fault" Recap
The Keating Four all try to talk over one another and tell Annalise what has happened. Annalise goes into the bathroom to try to reason with Rebecca but when she removes the tape from Rebecca's mouth, she starts screaming. The group all brings Rebecca back to Annalise's place where Annalise has the Keating Four put Rebecca through a mock trial to present evidence to convince her that Rebecca killed Lila. Annalise has Frank try to call Bonnie to get her there but she's too busy hooking up with Asher to answer her phone. She's also unconcerned about Frank spilling the beans about their relationship because Bonnie knows worse secrets about Frank than he does her. Once Bonnie is finished getting off, she arrives at Annalise's while the Keating Four only have one hour to put their cases together to present to Annalise. They're rehashing everything they can get their hands on and trying to piece it together but everything they have is circumstantial.
In a series of flashbacks, we see Lila call Sam up on the night of her murder, and say how things have fallen through with Griffin and she couldn't get him to have sex with her. She is worried that Sam is trying to get this new job to run away from her so she tells him that she's going to tell Annalise. This ties in with what we've already seen, where she arrives at Annalise's place and is turned away by Bonnie. She returns to the sorority house and Sam comes to meet her up on the rooftop. Before Sam gets up there, Lila stands on top of the water tank to hide from Griffin who has come looking for her. When Sam gets to the rooftop, he declares his love for Lila and claims he will leave Annalise and that Lila should wait for her.
The mock-trial is underway and they're interrupted by a knock at the door. It's Emily Saint-Claire, the new prosecutor on the Nate Lahey case. She is there to get a statement that Annalise had promised her but Annalise is able to get her to agree to meet at her office in an hour. While Annalise goes to give this statement, Frank is in charge of looking after everyone and making sure they stay put. Annalise claims that Nate followed her home and got into a confrontation with Sam, who had drunkenly tried to attack Annalise in the driveway. Nate apparently held Sam back while Annalise got back into the house. This is of course, a lie created to explain how Nate's print got on Sam's ring.
Rebecca tries to get Connor to turn against Wes by saying that Wes thinks he killed his mother. What a trash bag she is, spilling all these secrets like this. The group is interrupted by another knock at the door. It's Asher trying to come inside. Frank tries to turn him away and while Asher is trying to get Frank to not tell everyone about his and Bonnie's relationship, Rebecca grabs Michaela's phone and sends a text from it. When Asher comes inside, there is no one to be found since they're all hiding in the basement. Annalise and Bonnie return to the house and Asher nearly exposes the secret of his relationship with Bonnie but for now, Annalise is none the wiser. Outside, Bonnie assures that she's not ashamed of him but says that she and Annalise have a complicated relationship.
Rebecca won't say who she texted but now they have Michaela's number. The message reads, "Eggs 911. Lawyer's house." Rebecca is left tied up in the basement while Frank orders everyone back upstairs. Laurel talks with Frank about how it's strange for Bonnie to be involved with Asher considering how vehemently against Laurel and Frank's relationship she was. Frank tries to make a pass at Laurel, who then asks him if he's going to "take care of" Rebecca and Frank is apparently offended by her assumption that he's just there to serve as a hit man.
Michaela has to leave to meet with her ex-mother-in-law, assuming that she wants the ring back. Surprisingly, Mrs. Walker says that she wants Michaela and Aiden to get back together. She claims she was unfair to Michaela and asks her to reach out to Aiden. Michaela claims that she is as trashy as Mrs. Walker originally thought but Mrs. Walker isn't fooled, knowing that Michaela is just trying to run her off. Michaela then declares that Aiden is gay, or bi, or experimental, and that Mrs. Walker knows this and is just trying to stop it by getting Michaela to love her. She says that Aiden doesn't love her, but she loves herself and is done with all of this.
Annalise tries to reason with Rebecca in the basement but she still won't cooperate so Annalise orders Wes to pull himself together, head down to the basement, and make Rebecca tell the truth. When he gets down there, she finally admits that she did indeed give Rudy drugs. He caught her coming back to her apartment dripping wet from the water tank and she gave him some weed that was laced with a drug called Purple X that made him go crazy and begin clawing at his walls till his fingers bled. She then called the police on him. She goes on to say that she was wet because she went looking for Lila but when she got there, Lila was already dead in the water tank. She hid in the water tank because she heard people coming and knew that people would think she did it. Wes believes her, but the rest of the Keating Four do not. Annalise tells the group that none of them have been able to convince her beyond a reasonable doubt that Rebecca is guilty.
Annalise is then called away to meet with Nate. He knows about the statement she gave and she tells him that she did lie for him but then she lies about being the reason he got arrested. But she does tell him once again that he should try to trust her and the fact that she is trying to get him off. He later calls the number she gave him. When Annalise returns to her house, Michaela says she wants to try to pin Sam's murder on Rebecca but Annalise says that won't work because they'd be changing their story too many times. Annalise says that they have to let Rebecca go but first she'll try to convince her not to go to the police when they do. While Annalise heads to the basement, Bonnie scolds Laurel for trying to get Frank to help them out of this situation and that all of them are being selfish in putting all of this on Annalise, who has done nothing but try to help them for some reason that Bonnie doesn't understand.
Annalise goes to talk to Rebecca but finds that the door is open and Rebecca is gone, as someone has seemingly already let her go. After the rest of the group leaves, Wes stays behind and Annalise tries to reassure him that the best thing to do is to believe the theory that Sam killed Lila because it is the only theory that makes sense. Wes seemingly begins to accept this theory, while we see in flashbacks that Rebecca was telling the truth about not killing Lila and only finding her body after she was already dead.
Asher is visited by the new judge on Nate Lahey's case, who wants to question him about Annalise. Michaela and Laurel go out for drinks and Michaela wants to find someone to hook up with on their last night of freedom before they all presumably go to jail. Laurel then returns Michaela's engagement ring to her. She says that she had found it in Laurel's car but held onto it because she knew that if Michaela thought that people could find the ring, she would agree to keep quiet instead of going to the police. Connor returns home and finds an emotional Oliver, who reveals that he lied about his test results and is actually HIV-positive.
The final bombs get dropped. In the flashback, we see Sam looking as if he's about to strangle Lila as his hands are lingering a bit too close for comfort to her neck and there's something off in his expression. But then he leaves, saying that he's going to tell Annalise that things are over and will call her when it's done. Sam then heads to a pay phone and blackmails the caller into going and murdering Lila. The killer is revealed to be Frank, who dumps Lila's body in the water tank after she dies. Back in the present, Annalise heads to the basement and talks with Frank about what they should do about Rebecca, whose dead body is lying underneath the basement stairs. They both say that they weren't the one to murder her, having initially believed the other to be responsible. But if neither of them were responsible, that means it was likely one of the Keating Four or Bonnie who was responsible. Our money's on Laurel but we'll have to wait till next season to find out!
How To Get Away With Murder will return to ABC for season 2!
How To Get Away With Murder S1E14 - "The Day Lila Died" Recap
Wes and Laurel are still suspicious that Rebecca might have been the one who murdered Lila, though Laurel is a little more inclined to be skeptical since she doesn't want to go jumping to conclusions that will make them make a wrong move. Wes doesn't let Rebecca know of his suspicions and hooks up with her again. *gags*
In a flashback, we see Rebecca and Lila get into a fight over Lila wanting to get back with Griffin and Rebecca not thinking it's a good idea, and Rudy spies it from his doorway. Afterwards, Rebecca goes to the frat house and sells drugs to Griffin. She then convinces him to go upstairs with her. While he steps out, she texts Lila from his phone to get her to come over. Lila arrives and catches the two of them having sex. She tries to attack Rebecca and Griffin pulls her off. Lila says that she doesn't want to see either of them ever again and runs off.
Oliver and Connor are preparing to move forward with their relationship by having sex for the first time since their reconciliation but Oliver wants them to get tested for STDs first. Connor becomes stressed when questioned by the nurse when he begins to realise how irresponsible and ignorant he's been about his sex life.
Annalise's client is a priest, Andrew Crawford, accused of murdering another priest in close blood. He is at first going to take a plea but changes his mind when he sees a particular woman enter the courtroom. Annalise must make herself look a fool in the courtroom by claiming that she pressured him into making the plea because of her own troubles in her personal life. Annalise later questions the woman, Agnes, who she firmly believes is in love with Father Andrew, and that he reciprocates those feelings. Annalise's team learn that a boy named Bryan committed suicide and another boy insinuates that Father Andrew was molesting Bryan. Father Andrew informs Annalise that Bryan had confided in him that Father Bernard was molesting him. This in turn led Father Andrew to murder Father Bernard. But he won't testify because Father Bernard had told him what happened during confession.
Annalise has Frank use his connections to get Nate beaten up in jail in the hopes of it getting him out but it only gets him put in solitary confinement. Annalise responds to this hiccup in her plans by having Frank and Bonnie make Asher talk to Judge Redding, who is in charge of Nate's case, and he does so without much of a fuss, even name-dropping "Millstone" like they wanted. Frank then snaps photos of the two talking.
Annalise convinces Agnes to falsely testify to give Father Andrew an alibi but this only makes him change his plea once again. Now he pleads guilty to first-degree murder instead of manslaughter and is taken away. Agnes pleads with him to not do this and tells him she loves him but he responds by saying he doesn't love her and wants her to leave.
Connor is stressing about not getting his results back yet and when he calls Oliver, Oliver says he is negative. He later gets the call that he himself is negative.
Wes and Laurel are revisiting Rebecca's psychological evaluation and police statements. They determine that Rebecca and Lila were fighting on August 29th, the day of Lila's murder. In the flashbacks, we're able to see that Rebecca was able to sneak into Lila's sorority house the night of the murder after fighting with Lila at the frat house. When Wes and Laurel are arguing over how to proceed, Michaela and Connor overhear it and come over wanting to know what's happening. Wes shares the inconsistencies of what his investigation has learned and Laurel still doesn't want to jump the gun but Michaela and Connor are ready for battle.
Frank tells Annalise that Judge Perkins will now be the new judge on Nate's case and Nate has been released on bail. Annalise goes to visit him and pleads with him to call the number that she gave him to get a "great" lawyer instead of a "good" one. She lies and claims that she's not the reason he's behind bars but says that she did arrange his getting out on bail.
Rebecca returns home to find Michaela, Connor, Laurel, and Wes there to question her on whether she killed Lila. They refuse to let her keep lying or try to manipulate Wes, as she keeps trying to get Wes to not let them question her. When they keep pushing her, Rebecca then says that she has found the on-campus cop that they had encountered when on their way to transport the body. Annalise and Frank had gotten him fired and he moved out of state. But she threatens to call the cops on all of them for killing Sam. We later see Annalise arrive at their apartment, and they show her Rebecca, whom they have tied up and gagged in the bathroom.
How To Get Away With Murder airs on Thursdays on ABC at 10PM.
Vikings S03E02 Recap: The Wanderer
The Vikings have returned to Wessex, and King Ecbert has changed the terms of their agreement. While Lagertha farmed, Ragnar and the others went to war against Brihtwulf and slaughtered his forced. Blood and bodies cover the shore, while Kwenthrith's brother can do little more than watch from the safety of his own shore.
Torstein is looking worse for the wear after the battle. There is celebrating to be done, but for the first time in his life Torstein is not hungry. Rollo gives him some of his mushrooms to eat. Ragnar hopes that Freya will lie with him tonight. Ragnar goes to check on Princess Kwenthrith next. She's drunk and happy that her uncle is dead, but seeing his death is not enough, she wants his head. Floki is more than happy to retrieve it for her. Ragnar questions her deep hate of him. Her older brother was not the only one to rape her, it was her uncle who did it first and brought his friends as well. He violated her in deeper, soul scarring ways. Floki bounces back with Uncle Brihtwulf's head, and Kwenthrith takes to stabbing it repeatedly, which gives Floki an odd delight.
Bjorn retrieves Porunn, taking her aside. She fought well, but she did not listen. She did not stay by his side, and took too many chances. Porunn mocks Bjorn, and his beliefs in their Gods. Bjorn is just worried about her safety. Bjorn sullenly asks if she will marry him, maybe now she'll understand his deep concern. Porunn happily accepts.
That scene that Clive Standen spoke about a few weeks ago plays out. While eating his mushrooms, Rollo looks at one of the prisoners legs. Torstein watches as Rollo makes his way over to the man. Rollo stares at the leg, picks up an axe and cleaves it off. He stumbles back to his seat as Torstein asks why he did that. The angle of the leg bothered him, he couldn't help himself. A drunken Kwenthrith stumbles over looking for Ragnar. Rollo shares some mushrooms with her, as she slides down by Torstein's side. Rollo gets a little handsy, and Kwenthrith slaps him away to the laughs of the others.
Lagertha washes up as King Ecberr continues to stare. She asks Athelstan to ask who farmed the land before it was given to her. Ecbert admits that he had to remove several farmers to give her the land. She's concerned over the safety of their camp. Ecbert personally guarantees their safety. Lagertha confesses that it has always been Ragnar's dream to find new land for the young and to live in peace, which is also her dream now. Ecbert asks if she's a free woman.
The Vikings continue their war match. Having taken out one half of the army, now they move to take out the other half. As the men on shore prepare for the war ships to arrive, the Vikings display have them rattled. They've taken the heads of Brihtwulf and his men, and hung them from the masses. The army flees, and only Kwenthrith's brother remains. His soldiers beg him to run. Kwenthrith pleads from the ship for her brother to give himself up, to not run, but his council advises against it. He runs.
Torstein's wounds pull him closer to death. He heads into the cool river for a dunk.
King Ecbert has given Lagertha a good plot of land, and even brought men to help. Ecbert's men find Lagertha's plows and tools to be primitive. Ecbert grabs a handful of dirt, and presents it to Lagertha as a gift. The gift is more precious to her than stones, and she thanks him.
Back at Kattegat, its cold and bleak. Helga walks with Aslaug and Siggy. She tells him of her dream of a man that she could not seen. She tells them of his arrival, and the other two women have had the exact same dream. Helga asks if they were scared. They were not, Siggy was excited, expectant. Aslaug woke disappointed that it was not real. Aslaug has no explanation for their visions.
The words of the seer ring true for Lagertha as she works the land, being cleansed by it until she becomes a virgin once more. Ecbert watches, but does not sully his hands. He suggests that Athelstan bless the house. Athelstan begins a prayer, but one of the Vikings brushes past him, putting their idol on display.
Kalf lays his claim to Lagertha's Earldom. He played the role of loyal follower so well, but he plays that of traitor better as he tells the people that they have outed the absent earl.
Ecbert prepares to return to his castle, and he asks that Athelstan and Lagertha accompany him to his baths. She agrees.
Kwenthrith pleads to Ragnar for her brother. She thinks that he is at the mercy of oppressors. Ragnar asks where they could have gone, and Kwenthrith is sure that they went to the town for reinforcements, which doesn't bode well for Ragnar and his men. He sends one of his men ahead to scout.
Princess Judith sits with Ecbert, Lagertha and Athelstan. There has been no word from Ragnar, but Ecbert is confident in him as he gives Lagertha some serious sex eyes. Judith admits that she has been utterly fascinated with Ragnar, the Vikings and their pagan ways since they arrived. She asks Athelstan about them, but he refuses to describe the pagan ways to her. He instead offers her something else, something that challenged his faith. Odin and Jesus has some similarities, but Odin's trials happened before Christ. It has made him question his faith. Lagertha only understood the Odin part, and asks what he said. He loves both Christ and Odin, and there isn't more to say. Ecbert moves to lighten the mood with another gift. He gave her dirt, and now he gives her gold and gems in the form of a beautiful necklace. He places it on her neck, and it is as beautiful as its wearer.
In Kattegat, Siggy goes to see the seer, but his tent is utterly quiet. She looks for him, and blood drips on her hand. The seer was bleeding, dying. Siggy awakens. She sits with Helga and Aslaug by the fire. The seer was bound, and bleeding. There was so much blood Helga says. Siggy tells her it was only a dream, and Aslaug says the same. Only a dream they all seem to have had, again.
In Mercia, Aethelwulf catches up to a man from the opposing force. He claims that he was riding, not part of the army. They move to brand him, and he squirms, claiming that he does not know where Kwenthrith's brother is. Aethelwulf gives him the chance to save his sight, and as the heated metal gets closer, the man confesses that they're waiting for reinforcements. Aethelwulf releases him. His fight is not with him, and he will release him without harm.
Judith walks in on Athelstan in what use to be his study. She apologizes for interrupting him and his scrolls. She's come for a favor, she wants him to hear her confession. He is no priest, but she insists. Her bishop is not there, and she needs to make her confession. Athelstan reluctantly agrees. The pair head to the confessionals. She starts with the traditional forgive me father for I have sinned. She's sinned in thought, but not deed. She's dreamed of lying naked beside a man who is not her husband, but she did not just lie beside him, but had sex with him that she enjoyed very much. The man Judith dreams of is Athelstan. With her confession off her chest she leaves, and Athelstan is left with impure thoughts of his own.
The man that Helga, Siggy and Aslaug dreamt of draws hear. His hot blood steams on the fallen snow. Siggy, Helga and Aslaug feel his approach.
Kalf cuts the liver from his prey. He dreamed that Ragnar did the same to him, and ate it. Kalf begged him to stop, the liver is the seed of life. Ragnar continued to eat though. His companion asks if he is afraid of Ragnar. Anyone who would rise from farmer to king should be feared. Kalf too had humble beginnings, and he wishes to have fame as Ragnar does. He wants the gods to prepare a valiant horse for him when he descends to Valhalla. Ragnar may be a descendant of Odin, but he's still human, if he is cut, he will bleed.
Rollo, Porunn, Bjorn and Floki play a game of coins. Torstein plays no games, shaking. He calls to them, and Floki tells him that he couldn't have done better. Torstein cares little for the game. He wants them to cut off his arm, he's never liked it anyways. Rollo asks why he doesn't keep the arm. The arm is killing him. Bjorn steps up and volunteers to do it, but he wants Floki to be the one to do it. Floki agrees. Torstein would do the same for him. The axe is placed into the fire, and everyone holds Torstein down as Floki gets to work, removing the toxic appendage. Rollo says a prayer for Torstein's survival.
Athelstan thanks Ecbert for the land that he has given them. Ecbert offers his own thanks, for opening up his eyes that one can live with and accept two cultures. Lagertha offers her own thanks, for the hospitality, and the gifts. Ecbert makes it clear that she is welcome back anytime. Athelstan goes to Judith, she did not wait to hear her penance. His leaving is penance enough, but his leaving should also free her from further sinful thoughts. Lagertha and Athelstan make their leave, and Ecbert confronts Judith about her love of their monk. She doesn't love him, she's merely fascinated by him. He cautions her fascinations. He may be complicated, and interesting, but he's also dangerous. She asks her father in law if the same could be said about him.
The ships prepare to set sail once more. Torstein isn't quite recovered, still a little shocky from losing his arm. The Saxons come back with news of the opposing forces. They're trying to draw them away from their boats.
In Kattegat, Helga walks through the village when she spots the wanderer approaching. She stares at him as he draws near. His hands are bleeding just as in her vision. He's hurt his hand badly, and asks if she can help him. The blood falls on the snow, steaming.
Torstein lies on the sandy shores, opening his eyes as the others surround him.
Lagertha works in her barn when Athelstan enters. His stigmatas are bleeding as he sheds tears.
