With its themes of love, justice and friendship, the musical features an all-female cast; there are some male characters, played by women.
One of the most popular mangas of all time, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon has sold over 36 million copies worldwide. Created by Naoko TakeuchiSailor Moon began as a manga in 1991 in Japan in a girl's comic magazine, "Nakayosi", published by Kodansha. It was subsequently adapted as an anime program (Japanese animation), and a live-action television program. A sequel to the series is also now in production. In "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon" The Super Live, the characters come to life, live on stage and itwas produced in part to commemorate the 25th anniversary since Sailor Moon was first published. The brand has generated $5 billion in merchandise sales.

"At its core, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is about strong girlfriends banding together to fight for what they believe in...that's timely," said producer Takaharu Uera. "Sailor Moon and her Sailor Guardians are equipped with powers that help them defeat evil and the characters are imbued with the self-determination to make their own confident decisions. In short, they are the ultimate example of 'girl power.' We look forward to introducing American audiences to Sailor Moon, her Guardians and the 2.5D Musical experience."

MULTIPLE ISSUES OF KIERON GILLEN & STEPHANIE HANS’ DIE SENT BACK TO PRINT

Image Comics is pleased to announce that New York Times bestselling creator Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine) and artist Stephanie Hans’ Die #2 and Die #3 are both being rushed back to print in order to keep up with growing demand for the series.
Die is a pitch-black fantasy where a group of adults have to deal with the returning unearthly horror they barely survived as teenage role-players. The series is perhaps best described as “Goth Jumanji”—but that only captures a sliver of what you’ll find in this series where fantasy gets all too real.
Die #2, fourth printing (Diamond Code FEB198467) will be available on Wednesday, April 24. The final order cutoff deadline for comic shop retailers is Monday, April 1.
Die #3, third printing (Diamond Code FEB198468) will be available on Wednesday, April 24. The final order cutoff deadline for comic shop retailers is Monday, April 1.
Die is also available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.
Select praise for Die:
"A deliciously dark Phantom Tollbooth-like journey told through a lens of broken humanity and a deconstruction of the role-playing game's roots. I am entranced." —Matthew MercerCritical Role
“Really couldn’t have enjoyed Die #1 more than I did. Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans are a powerful merging of talents. Feels like a well-oiled team that’s been working together for years. Image Comics continues to innovate.” —Rick RemenderDeadly Class, Low, Black Science, Seven to Eternity
“Utterly beautiful.” —The Hollywood Reporter
“So I read Die today and it’s something special: clever, chilling, beautiful, and surprising. IT’S REAL GOOD AND I THINK YOU SHOULD GET IT.” —Ryan NorthThe Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Dinosaur Comics, How To Invent Everything: A Survival Guide For The Stranded Time Traveler
“Emotional evisceration awaits. I cannot recommend this highly enough” —Marguerite Bennett, Animosity, Bombshells
“Seriously, pre-order your copy; it’s so good!” —Women Write About Comics
“I’ve had the pleasure of reading Die from Gillen, Hans & Cowles and it’s everything I love about comics. It’s such a great concept for a series.” —Gerry DugganDeadpool, Analog
“Do you wish that IT had fewer clowns luring in sewers with balloons and more RPG sessions that cause kids to disappear for several years? Then Die by Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans is the comic for you! Also, I got to test-play the RPG the book is built around and it’s SO FUN.” —Jody HouserStranger Things, Faith, Doctor Who
Die is a compelling drama, filled with secrets and lies. It has the reliable wit and grace one expects from Gillen along with rich and stunning artwork by Hans, who is without a doubt delivering her best work to date. Gorgeously rendered, perfectly constructed, Die is a fantastic new series that pulls the reader into a new world, in more ways than one.” —Declan ShalveyMoon Knight, Injection, Return Of Wolverine
“Soooooo Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans’ Die is something ABSURDLY special. Really an incredible book.” —Mags VisaggioEternity Girl, Kim & Kim, Sex Death Revolution

EISNER AWARD WINNING CREATIVE TEAM BEHIND DESCENDER LAUNCHES NEW FANTASY SERIES ASCENDER THIS APRIL

“[Ascender is] a complete joy… both familiar and new all at once, and opens up a new playground reader will be hungry to see them delve into.” —Comic Book Resources
PORTLAND, ORE. 03/27/2019 — From the powerhouse creative team behind the bestselling, award-winning DescenderNew York Times bestselling writer Jeff Lemire (Gideon Falls, Sweet Tooth, The Underwater Welder, Black Hammer) and artist Dustin Nguyen (Batman: Little Gotham)—comes an all new, ongoing fantasy series set in the same universe, Ascender. This new chapter launching from Image Comics on Wednesday, April 24 is set to recapture fans’ hearts and imaginations as well as provide the perfect jumping on point for new readers with no knowledge of the previous Descender series.
“Dustin and I love the world of Descender and we're re-energized by this new direction, which has opened all sorts of new storytelling possibilities for us,” said Lemire. “Ascender will feel like a continuation of the Descender saga and like a brand new book all in one."
Nguyen added: “Plus, it'll be fantastic to switch from drawing machines and metal all day, to all flesh and fantasy for a while!”
Set ten years after the conclusion of Descender, in Ascender the machines have gone away, and in their absence magic has reclaimed the universe. Now one girl must embark on an epic quest to find robotkind and its fabled boy messiah, TIM-21, before it’s too late…
The Descender series launched in 2015 to massive critical acclaim. The series was recognized as an NPR “Best Book of the Year” in 2015, was listed four years in a row by the American Booksellers’ Association’s Young Adult Library Services Association’s “Great Graphic Novels for Teens” round-up, and made Newsweek’s “Best Comics Books of 2018” round-up.
Ascender #1 (Diamond Code FEB190010) will be available in comic shops on Wednesday, April 24. It is also available to pre-order across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.
Select praise for the Descender series:
"Your new sci-fi obsession is here, and its name is Descender." —Entertainment Weekly
"Lemire (Essex County) smoothly doles out information while amping up the tension, and the innocent, friendly character of TIM-21 creates real heart in the midst of extreme violence. Nguyen's watercolor artwork is marvelous, using the medium's transparency to create fluid and subtly lustrous pages." —Publishers Weekly(starred review)
"The art feels light and almost whimsical. I love that. I also love the colors and the choice to make certain areas (UGC) bright so the panels pop off the page, and others (mining colony, Gnish homeworld), much darker, grittier. All of it together looks like watercolors without brushstrokes. Overall, there’s a little something for everyone here in Descender." —Kirkus Reviews
"An emotional, imaginative new universe, lavishly brought to life by the great Dustin Nguyen." —Brian K. VaughanSaga
“Gorgeous.” —Vulture/NY Magazine
“An epic sci fi tale with a huge heart.” —Scott Snyder, Wytches
“It’s so beautiful.” —Kelly Sue DeConnickBitch Planet
“Deft and delightful, running from warmth to chilling, gentle to brutal.” —Greg RuckaLazarus
“Hauntingly beautiful sci-fi that manages to be both epic & powerfully intimate. Masterfully done.” —Jason AaronSouthern Bastards
"What a beautiful, beautiful book. Descender is worth buying for the artwork alone, so it's almost a bonus that it tells such a compelling story about the future of humanity in a universe filled with terrors." —Charles SouleThe Oracle Year, Curse Words
