SYNOPSIS:
The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal...
Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) -- with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard -- are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother.
That is done the Expendables way....

Emily Hagins' Long-Awaiting Big Screen Debut Happens on 8/22

My Sucky Teen Romance / Dark Sky FilmsAIN'T IT COOL NEWS AND DARK SKY FILMS TEAM UP TO BRING AUDIENCES A BREAKTHROUGH MOVIE BY TEENAGE FILMMAKING SENSATION EMILY HAGINS

MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE

Will Make Waves Through the U.S. With A Special Fan Tour In Four Major Cities

"a sweet little winner" - Scott Weinberg, Fear.net

 "potent comedy-horror" - Screen Daily

Officially the youngest filmmaker in Hollywood, Emily Hagins will bring fans her long-awaited film, MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE through a special four-city fan tour with Dark Sky Films and Ain't It Cool News. Launching with a red carpet premiere in Los Angeles at Cinespace on 8/22, the film will make its way through New York, Chicago and Emily's home base in Austin.

Each screening will be presented in partnership with Ain't It Cool News (AICN), with one of AICN's editors hosting each screening. Tickets will be given away for each date on the tour at AintItCool.com. Founder Harry Knowles has encouraged and supported Emily since her earliest days as a filmmaker.

For fans who can't catch the film on the big screen, MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE will be available on Blu-ray and DVD via MPI/Dark Sky Films on September 4, 2102.

The kids are biting and the blood is flowing in teenage writer-director Emily Hagins' horror-comedy breakthrough, MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE, the buzzed-about genre sensation. On 17-year-old Kate's last weekend in town before heading to college, she and her geeky friends head to SpaceCON, the local sci-fi/fantasy convention. There, Kate meets Paul, a recently turned teen vampire (who takes advantage of the gathering's costume atmosphere by actually dressing as a bloodsucker). But when Kate tries to make a move on him, he gives her the hickey from hell.

Kate and her pals then discover that Paul is not the only vampire at the convention, and it is up to them to kick some vampire butt, or Kate's going to be attending permanent night school from now on!

Vibrant young actors including Elaine Hurt, Patrick Delgado, Lauren Vunderink and Lauren Lee help teen writer-director Emily Hagins take a bite out of modern pop vampires in a hilarious, bloody tale that proves once and for all that love, like, totally sucks!

MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE, the breakout premiere at the 2011 SXSW Film Festival, is the third and most accomplished feature yet from the prodigious Emily Hagins. At the age of 12, Hagins was the subject of Zombie Girl! The Movie, a documentary about the making of her first feature, Pathogen.

MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE has "the sort of energy, enthusiasm and inventiveness that money cannot buy," wrote Anton Bitel of Little White Lies. FEAR.net's Scott Weinberg called the movie "a sweet little winner. ... the youthful director has really honed her craft, discovered a new angle, and now returns with an entirely accessible mini-budget comedy that coasts on by through sheer force of wit, energy, and 'let's put on a show!' creativity." ScreenDaily.com said, "At 18, Hagins already has a better grasp of story structure, pacing and the mix between humor and pathos that makes for potent comedy-horror than some filmmakers twice her age."

Beasts Of Burden: Neighborhood Watch (ONE-SHOT)

Writer: Evan Dorkin
Artist: Jill Thompson
Cover Artist: Jill Thompson
Genre: Horror, Action/Adventure
Publication Date: August 01, 2012
Format: FC, 32 pages
Price: $3.50
UPC: 7 61568 18921 6 00111

If you’re an avid reader of Dark Horse Presents series, then the Beast of Burden three-parter should look familiar.  It follows a group of dogs and cats who just happen to be paranormal investigators, sounds interesting and utterly ridiculous right?

It is completely fun. The dogs and cats team up and chase a goblin with mixed results, they recant the story of a Basilisk battle, and get to the bottom of a herd of mysterious sheep.

Evan Dorkin gives the animals plenty of depth in a short space, and Jill Thompson provides some gorgeous artwork to accompany the captive story.  If you haven’t been following Beast of Burden this is the perfect opportunity to start.

As an added bonus of the one shot, there's a preview of Eric Powell and Kyle Hotz's Billy the Kid’s Old-Timey Oddities and the Orm of Loch Ness. That series looks pretty amazing as well, and as an exclusive picking up this one shot is the only way to get it early!

Lost Girl Recap S2E16: School’s Out

Kimono clad Bo is surprised to see Kenzi home. Her bed is a mess, and he bubble bath is gasping for air. Kenzi thinks she’s a wreck over Ryan, thinking that she 86’d him over her. Kenzi steals the maples syrup, and runs to have breakfast for Nate. Ryan emerges from under the bubbles, taking none of it serious.

Beverly Garner gets called to the front of the calls for her well written paper on Romero and Juliet. The teacher asks her to read the paper to the class. She rants and raves about the politics rather than the romance. Impassioned over the cause, she passes out in the middle of her rant.

Beverly’s father goes to Dyson for help. He thinks his daughter was drugged. Her brain activity is off the chart, something none of her doctors have seen before. That gets Dyson’s attention. He takes down her information, and tells him to go spend time with his daughter.

Lauren is back, and her first stop is Bo, she has Nadia in tow. They had a pleasant trip, in which they didn’t take in the sights. Bo has been busy too, and Dyson comes breaking the tension. He brings over a case to discuss, and Bo is quick to tear away. He tells her of Beverly’s neurological shutdown. They aren’t sure if its fae related, or drug related. Dyson wants Bo to go undercover in high school. Bo thinks Dyson would be perfect undercover, and he sends her in as a teacher. Lauren asks if she could help, and Dyson asks her to check the girl’s medical files. Bo wants to bring in a third party who can speak teenager, and there is no one better than Kenzi.

Kenzi poses as a student, and Bo a teacher. Bo’s class takes interest, particularly the boys. They’re still working on Shakespeare and Bo is familiar with the tale, being pretty much in her own version, so much so that she accidently writes Ryan’s name instead of Romeo. One of the students points it out to her, and she fumbles for a new topic, and choose Werewolfs: fact or fiction. The students enjoy the change of pace.

Dyson poses as a guidance counselor and one of his students talk about his crazed girlfriend, acting erratic over prom, pms, and a load of other things. Dyson tries to ask him about drugs and things prevalent to his case, but he sees them all as metaphors. Dyson tells him that he doesn’t know how young he is, that he’s needs to go out and experience life, and real love.

Kenzi struggles to fit in with the uber preppy girls. They don’t appreciate Kenzi’s goth style, and the “Heathers” get catty. Worse of all they ruin Kenzi’s boots, and Kenzi gets physical.

Bo gets reprimanded for straying from the curriculum. She points out that she wanted to stay away from hormonal teachers, death and drugs especially after the whole Beverly incidence. Kenzi gets pulled into the vice principal’s office. The girls are striking out all over, and Dyson isn’t doing much better.

At the Dal, they inform Trick of their lack of luck. Dyson can’t detect immature fae, the lack of hormones make it impossible. Lauren has found that Beverly was definitely infected by something fae, but according to the Ash the only fae at the school are some Actheum, dumb fae. They have an extremely slow maturity rate. Fae children are usually placed in public school so that they can learn to fit in. Kenzi doesn’t want to go back to school, knowing she’s going to rumble with some plastics, but they all have to go back, and Kenzi has to find a place to belong.

Kenzi joins the chess club, but she doesn’t know how to play. Earl tries to teach her, and she awkwardly asks him about him about Beverly. He finally opens up, thinking that it was stressed, and that getting good grades isn’t enough, some people need more. Kenzi asks if the cheer squad is doping. Earl gets called away, but offers to play again tomorrow. Kenzi watches the cheerleaders, and one of them rants before passing out.

Lauren meets Bo at school, and the awkwardness between them remains.  With Nadia back, its tense between them. Lauren tells her that it contains traces of embryonic tissue. Lauren apologizes for Nadia’s PDA. Lauren is still hiding things from Nadia, and she feels bad over it. Kenzi interrupts with the cheerleader rant. Lauren runs off to get all the student files. Two intellectual rants, and two girls passed out, Kenzi thinks the coach and drugs may be involved.

Nadia waits for Lauren to return home. She tells her she was dropping something off to Bo, and she asks why she’s working with Bo. Lauren tells her that shes kind of a co-worker. Nadia wants to go back to Lauren’s lab and make love, and Lauren hesitates to tell her the truth, but stops herself. She tells her that there is much about the case she still needs to figure out, and urges Nadia to pick up her camera. Nadia chooses Lauren as her subject, and Lauren doesn’t get much down, and Nadia gets her to pose for some pictures. Nadia tries to turn it into a seduction, and Lauren has to stop her. Work calls. Nadia reluctantly leaves.

Bo goes to question he coach about her cheerleaders dropping like flies. Bo outright accuses the coach of doping the girls, and she turns hostile to Bo. The coach manhandles Bo, but she gets too close, and Bo succubus’s her. Subdued, she admits that she gave the girls some steroids, and diuretics to keep their weight down. Bo uses her power to ensure that the doping stops.

A gloved hand reaches into a bird’s cage to remove an egg.

Earl gets dropped off by his dad. He’s very enamored of Kenzi he tells his father. Earl sets up the chess board, as Kenzi asks him about his dad. Earl gushes over being on the Reach for the Top team that the vice principal put together. Earl thinks he sees an opening, and dives in, kissing Kenzi. She freaks out and makes a run for it.

Kenzi reports to Bo earl’s attempt to steal a kiss. It was a little too wet for Kenzi’s taste. She tells him that his fame is going to his head. She spills about the little brain trust, and Bo makes a connection with the intellectual rants. Bo gets a surprise visit from Ryan, and he asks her to the dance. Bo tries to get him to leave, and he promises to be better than her first time. She tells him that some people are not meant to be together. She doesn’t like the fact that she likes Ryan, but he’s okay with that. Dyson spies Ryan leaving, and asks Bo what Ryan is doing around. He tells her that Ryan as dark fae shouldn’t be around here, but Bo tells him its personal. He may not like it, but Bo is unaligned and she gets to play with who she wants, even the sexy Loki.

Earl’s recent ex eats marshmellows and cries to Dyson about Earl making out with other girls. She blames herself. Dyson tells her that its not her its him, and that crying is not going to solve anything. As she weeps, Dyson tells her that she’s beautiful, and that she will find another mate for her soul. She asks him if he has a girlfriend, and if he wants one. When he doesn’t answer she breaks down in tears again. Poor wolfy.

Bo talks to the Vice Principal about his little team. He’s quite proud of them, and how far they’ve gone. Bo asks about the remarkable team, and their vast improvement. Bo worries about the amount of pressure put on the boys, but he understands the pressure of college, and obtaining scholarships, and is just trying to give the kids the best chance.

Kenzi concentrates on her homework, and Bo tells her that they’re undercover, she doesn’t have to actually do the homework. Kenzi goes on about the work, getting all beautiful mind on Bo. Oh no, Kenzi is infected. Bo takes Kenzi to Lauren, and as she continues on about geometry, Lauren takes a blood sample. Luckily Lauren has seen a curve in the rate of infection, and brain shutdown. Kenzi sees the equation Lauren was working on and erases it. Lauren and Bo panic for a moment, but it was incorrect. Lauren has a break through. If all the faes at the school are Actheums and someone gave them something to make them smarter that may be what the problem is. Bo is off to get a sample, that was likely transmitted orally. Lauren tells Bo that they have to stop the infection before it gets out of the school.

Dyson asks Bo about Kenzi, who is in good hands with Lauren. Bo is going after Vice Principal Dickerson, who created this brain trust out of no where. Dyson knows that Dickerson isn’t fae though, he had help. Dyson knows exactly who has been spreading the brain mono, Earl. He confronts Earl about kissing Sarah and Beverly, and Earl confesses to it all. Dyson tells him that Kenzi is sick, and he asks what has changed. Earl’s father has been making him lunch, and Dyson smells it. Eggs. His father is with Dickerson, and Dyson and Earl head off to confront them. Bo is in the Vice Principal’s office, but no one is there, she does a quick search, and gets caught by Dickerson. He goes to call security, and she confronts him about the Actheums, trying to figure out his motivations. Earl’s dad comes armed with a hammer and tells Dickerson to leave, he does. Looks like dear old dad is the one behind it. He asks what Bo is trying to do to her boy, all of the father’s of the quiz team have been boosting their sons so that they can be stop being second rate fae. Bo tells him that they’ve been infecting the humans, and he doesn’t care. Bo gets gets the upperhand and has him pinned when Dyson and Earl arrive. Earl is distraught that his father made him believe that his hard work was what was putting him ahead. He wonders if he was so bad before, why his father had to change him. His father does love him a lot.

The Samir is the culprit laying the egg. They gross featherless birds, whose eggs make the consumer smarter, and their use is against fae law. Although they will be punished, Trick notes that raising children is hard, no matter the circumstance. Kenzi giggles with Earl at the bar, she’s back to normal, Kenzi normal. Sarah and Beverly are cured too. Earl makes a wrong move, and Kenzi goes to correct his wrong move, but stops herself. He tells her that she’s going easy on him now that he’s dumb again, but she lays on the compliments. He goes in for another kiss, and she stops him this time. He takes the brush off well. Kenzi cheats at chess, and its all kosher between them.

Ryan drags Bo down the hallway. He has a surprise in store for her, and he flips on the lights. He wants to give her a good high school memory, and Bo is shocked. She tells him that some girl will really appreciate him, but that it’s complicated. It doesn’t have to be though, they’re not Romeo and Juliet, or star crossed lovers, they just really enjoy each other’s company. He turns on some music, and she gives him. She never got to go to prom, and he tells her that its okay, its all about the after party anyways. As they spin on the dance floor, Bo relaxes, they’re definitely not making curfew.

Nadia and Lauren finish some sexy time, and Lauren goes upstairs to shower. Nadia stays downstairs and looks over some pictures she took, they’re all of Lauren’s necklace, her symbol from the Ash.

True Blood Recap: Somebody That I Use To Know

Finally the episode that Stephen Moyer directed.

One of the guys that shot Luna and Sam is halled away by Andy, thanks to Sam. Sam tries to calm Luna, but she refuses to be calmed. And when he leaves, she shifts into him. Uh oh, we’ve got another skin walker on our hands, hopefully things end better for her than they did with Tommy.

The blood high continues as they return to base camp, only Eric is unaffected. Each of the vampires are tripping out in their own way. Eric asks Bill what happened, and Bill tells him that they were in the presence of God, but Eric knows better they were just high as fucking kites.

Jason stops Sookie from wasting her fairy energy.  Sookie is beyond tired of her abilities, wanting nothing more than to be normal. But Jason points out that if she didn’t have her abilities, she’d never have experienced real love with Bill, or have gotten to talk to Gran on the other side. So many positives have come from being fairy, and without her abilities she’ll never be able to uncover who killed her parents. Sookie’s lightbulb shines bright, and she listens to her brother and stops spilling her fairy all over the yard.

Dep. Kevin is confused by “Sam’s” appearance, and “Sam” makes a break for it.

A fangbanger tries to pick up Jessica, and she lets him entice her for a quick dance, and leaves with the guy.

The vampires reminisce over their Lilith encounter. Russell gushes over the draining of the bride, and all think that what they did was right, even the killing of the child. Bill finally looks like he knows right from wrong, but as Eric takes his leave, Bill does not join.

Alcide and Rikki play a little chair tag, getting all sweaty. And then they proceed to have sex on every piece of furniture in his bedroom, as Rikki tells him she’s not his girlfriend. But when he asks if she’s his girlfriend she coyly says maybe. I know Eric put the whammy on him and all, but seriously, Alcide what are you thinking?

Bill comes to Salome’s chamber and there’s a lovely unwilling brunette morsel waiting. He tries to turn her down, and Salome tries to bully him into feeding on her.  He still refuses, he’s fathered children, and cannot take one away. Salome asks why doesn’t he change his children and keep them with him forever. Cue the Bill flashback. Bill’s daughter is on her death bed, and he goes to her. At first she thinks he’s an angel, but he shatters that illusion, and then begs for immortality, but he cannot give it to her. Salome continues spouting her twisted dogma, telling Bill he’s refusing God’s gift, and Bill goes in for the kill as Salome prays.

Hoyt and his redneck pack surprise Hoyt with a present, Jessica all wrapped up in silver chains. The guys want Hoyt to stake her for all the pain she’s caused him, but Hoyt doesn’t look like he’s exactly enjoying the display, though he tries to play it up that he’s still into what they’re putting down. The guys urge Hoyt on, telling him its good for him, and they lock the door, leaving him alone with Jessica.

Claude asks if Sookie is sure she wants to go down the path she’s asking for. They aren’t sure if they want to assist, and Sookie gets a little too loud about vampires. Claude though has his reservations, agrees to help.

Lafayette drives away from Uncle Crazy’s house, and he finds Jesus’ first aid kit and badge hidden above his visor. He uses some V to pretty up his face, and look who’s sitting shotgun, but the man himself, Jesus. Lafayette asks if he’s real, and Jesus tells him it doesn’t matter. They hold hands as Lafayette drives off.

Andy questions the suspect. He tells him that he’s shooting freaks to save America. Andy isn’t happy with how little is being said, and Sam offers to use some techniques to make the guy talk. Andy leaves. Sam strips down and turns into a snake. “Sam” comes in and Andy is more than a little confused. He unites Sam and “Sam.” “Sam” is worried she’s gonna die, since she can’t shift back. They learn that the guy who shot them has Jessica.

Claude and his fairy sisters take Sookie and Jason out to where their parents died, hoping to use a little fairy magic to amplify Sookie’s own and figure out who killed their parents. In theory Claude and Claudine tell Sookie that she’ll be able to step into the past, and see everything. It works, and Sookie experiences that night on the bridge where her parents died. First she sees everything from her mother’s eyes, until her mother’s death, when she begins seeing things from the vampire’s eyes and is blasted by Claudine in the past, knocking her out.

Jessica begs for her life, and Hoyt tells her all the ways that she hurt him. He asks why she didn’t love him more. Jessica tells him that she never wanted to break his heart. He holds the gun to her head.  He shoots the gun, and one of the guys comes to open the door. A free Jessica kills him, but she can’t leave, its daylight. Hoyt promises to bring help, but when she says thank you, he tells her to fuck off.

Arlene and Holly come to Lafayette for help. Arlene thinks that Terry is either off his meds, or he’s cursed. Lafayette tells her he’s off his meds, but Arlene presses. She asks him to just say what Terry needs to hear and help him. Lafayette agrees for a price.

Andy comes with Sam and “Sam” to save Jessica. “Sam” picks up the scent of a woman, but Jessica hasn’t seen any women and then there’s the cramping.

Sookie recaps for Claude what she saw, and felt. She tells him first she was her mother, then the vampire. Claude freaks out a bit, fairies can’t control vampires, and he claims that the Elders will be furious. Jason doesn’t care about the Elders, more worried about the vampire that killed his parents. Sookie suddenly remembers that Claudine called the vampire Warlow, which though Claude claims to not know the name, it clearly looks like he does.

Tara encounters an old high school “friend,” who’s just as pleasant and racist as she’s always been. Pam is forced to intervene when the girl gets mouthy with Tara, though Tara matched her quip for quip. Pam buys her drink, and the girl leaves.

It’s fight time for JD and Alcide. It’s a hunt for the pack, and today they’re hunting a university trackstar. The lucky guy will get a 2 minute head start. Alcide refuses to hunt the kid, causing a forfeit. But JD says he’s still gonna hunt the boy to cement the win. Alcide tries to stop JD, and a V’d up JD throws him down, chasing after the boy. Alcide wolfs out and runs after him.

Eric comes to his sister. In all the 600 years he’s known and loved her, she’s never believed in this. He tries to get her to see the light, that Salome put her on this crazy path. Eric tells Nora that Lilith doesn’t exist, and that what she’s doing sickens him, sickens Godric. Nora tells him that Godric was weak at the end, and she forsakes their maker. Eric pins her down by the throat, but he releases her, and she leaves him, telling him that Lilith will show him the way.

Sam holds “Sam” and Luna thinks she’s dying. She apologizes, and he does too.  When Sam kisses “Sam” on his forehead, she finally turns back, and tosses her cookies.

Pam tells Tara that she wants to talk. Pam takes Tara down to the basement, and at first Tara doesn’t understand when she sees her old mouthy high school friend chained up. Pam tells her “My mad face and my happy face are the same,” and she mind fucks the friend into being Tara’s blood whore.

JD catches up to the high school track star, and Alcide catches up to them both before JD can kill the kid. JD beats down Alcide,  and Martha stops JD before he can kill Alcide. She tells him that he’s better than this, or that he use to be, and Rikki begs for Alcides life. JD drops the rock, and tells Alcide to get a new pack.

Terry and Patrick come running home when Arlene tells him that there’s a fire, only to find no fire at all. Arlene and Holly tell them that they have a plan. Lafayette is going to contact the Iraqi woman and ask her to call off the Ifrit. Patrick is skeptical, but Terry vouches for Lafayette’s medium abilities. Lafayette goes through the motions to give them a good show, until the woman’s spirit comes for real. The spirit is pissed, but she says that she’ll lift the curse if…and then she jumps into Lafayette’s body scaring the crap out of Terry and Patrick when Lafayette yells at them in Arabic. Lafayette, back to himself, tells them that Terry has to kill Patrick or Patrick has to kill Terry, only one of them can survive. Patrick smartly makes a run for it.

Hoyt looks lost, and is happy to see a car, until the drive pulls a gun on him.

Sookie is visited by a misty vampire, that tells her he’s coming for her.

Salome meets with the rest of the Authority council. Russell and Rev Newlin flirt rather than work. They try to plot their next move to forward with their Sanguinista movement, all while Eric watches. Bill makes a whammy of a suggestion, they should bomb True Blood factories, which would basically end the mainstreaming movement.  Eric wonders what Bill’s just done, but Bill shrugs telling him he’s evolving. Looks like someone else has been whammied by Salome.

The Dark Knight Rises, but is it worth watching?

Christopher Nolan’s final Batman flick is gritty, it’s mesmerizing, and boy is it ambitious. It makes for a fantastic and fitting ending, but it never reaches the heights or intrigue of the previous film, The Dark Knight. At times it loses itself to murkiness, and although fun to watch Bane lacks the proper amount of Menace that the Joker easily exuded.

It has been eight years since the Joker’s Reign of Terror tore through Gotham City, eight years since Harvey Dent was pushed over the edge, and eight years since Batman took the fall for a crime he never committed, since he ran , because that was what the city thought it needed. The great city of Gotham has never really fully embraced their caped crusader, but now he’s nothing more than a bittersweet memory.

Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) has become a recluse, locking himself away from his beloved city, and allowing everything to fall into disrepair he once supported, until a pretty cat burglar and a masked madman threaten the very safety that Wayne sacrificed so much for.

The hulk-like Bane (Tom Hardy) plans to liberate the people of Gotham from their government’s tyranny, bringing about plunging stocks, the loss of Wayne’s entire fortune and pure anarchy. Meanwhile Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) toes the line between light and dark, being ever adaptable to every situation at hand.
While this bulks up the story, the villainous elements cannot compare to the sheer brilliance of Heath Ledger’s Joker. Part of the issue with Bane, is the elaborate mask that covers most of Tom Hardy’s face hampering his performance. Hardy is fantastic, don’t get me wrong, no one could have made the character better, but between his sometimes hard to understand dialogue, and asthmatic breathing he lacks a certain scare factor. Yes he’s a different sort of villain than we’ve seen before, he’s smart AND physical, but there’s not nearly enough intensity.

However, nearly every scene between Bale and Hathaway’s Bruce and Selina Kyle/Cathwoman exude fireworks. She’s less catlike, more acrobatic, she’s fierce and assertive with all the fun and playfulness of the comics without all the cheesiness that we’ve seen from some of her predecessors. In fact, there is so much charisma between the two of them, that Wayne’s actual love interest Miranda Tate (Marion Cotillard) is bland and unimpressive by comparison. The fact that Wayne and Tate hook up makes absolute no sense, and leaves one scratching their head in confusion.

The most moving scenes remain between Wayne and the always loyal Alfred (Michael Caine). While Bale continues to superbly portray the tortured hero of the story, Caine injects so much soul that its heart wrenching when certain truths are revealed.

And there’s also Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s detective John Blake who’s introduced. He’s wonderfully interjected into the storyline, with enough backstory, and enough charisma that the audience cares about him so much that he has spin-off potential. I'm not sure if it was just good writing, or superb acting on Gordon-Levitt's part, but Blake is almost as mesmerizing as the Bat himself.

Speaking of mesmerizing, while Liam Neeson's return was much touted and talked about, seeing Ra's Al Ghul's reemergence isn't nearly as fun as Cillian Murphy's return. Sure Ra's Al Ghul is a more integral part to the story, but the Scarecrow swinging a gavel injects just a little craziness, perfectly illustrating just how far Gotham has fallen.

Nolan is known for intelligent scripts, for making his audience really think, and all of this is on full display here. It is very long and very complicated. But more over there is a pure cinematic beauty of the movie. From sweeping landscapes, to pure destruction, each shot is artfully framed, and complimented by the music. Hans Zimmer’s musical score is so very powerful, even in the eerie quiet, its intense.

"A hero can be anyone," says Bale as Batman. But it’s going to be a long time before anyone is as pitch perfect as Bale is as the caped crusader, or a saga is better told than this one by Nolan. As many fears and doubts that I had, it is a complete and satisfying ending to the story Nolan started. Bravo boys, what a way end a legend.
