Selfie S1E13 (FINALE) - "I Woke Up Like This" Recap

Eliza recalls her high school mean girl Corynn McWatters who had been a bully to her, even going so far as to cut off Eliza's hair while she was sleeping at a sleepover Corynn had invited her to. Henry suggests that Eliza find a female role model to continue bettering herself. Eliza questions co-worker Joan, and then Charmonique, who turns down being Eliza's role model while also sharing the tidbit that she used to be a hand model. Charmonique also asks Henry to teach her son to skateboard, as he has recently been diagnosed as pre-hypertensive and also has sleep apnea.

Eliza asks Henry about using Corynn as her role model, after seeing her many accomplishments on her social media. Eliza asks Henry to come along and check Corynn out at her book reading later that night and Henry reluctantly agrees, though still not believing Corynn to be a good choice since she had been such a bully to Eliza. Henry struggles with a childhood insecurity of his own, in the form of some twelve-year old skateboarders who say he is a poser, while he is trying to instruct Charmonique's son.

When Eliza attends Corynn's book signing, she finds that Corynn has stolen Eliza's story of being bullied, unpopular, and lonely in order to better sell herself as a success story. Eliza ends up making a scene and Henry has to drag her out of the bookstore. Eliza is emotional over having her story stolen, and how she had worked so hard to change that person that Corynn had bullied so much. Henry admits to a security guard that he only pretended to be good at skateboarding from the time he was young because he wanted to seem cool. Henry also admits that he isn't cool, but Eliza is, though she's not there to hear it.

Henry visits Eliza and encourages to be as brave as she has shown herself to be on prior occasions, stop feeling sorry for herself, and stand up for herself instead. She goes to confront Corynn in a park, with Henry by her side. Corynn doesn't recognise Eliza as the girl she bullied before. Eliza seems as if she'll chicken out, but after Henry "burns" Corynn and encourages Eliza, Eliza is able to clumsily burn Corynn too. Henry heads to a skate park ready to try to prove himself as a skateboarder but ends up falling and injuring himself falling into a ramp.

At work, Eliza notices a co-worker named Linda has done something different with her hair and Linda admits that she has been reading Corynn's book and is inspired by the story of her coming from an ugly background and overcoming it all to become hot and successful. Eliza decides that she can be her own role model and notes how her thirteen-year-old self would be so proud of her. In order to prove that she is proud of her thirteen-year-old self, she heads to the bathroom and cuts her hair into a shorter bob. That night, Eliza dreams of being at next year's "Women in Pharmaceuticals" brunch, which she had missed this year due to taking too long to get ready for. She begins to believe that she can inspire other women now.

Henry ends up with a cast, on which a skateboarder writes the message, "No Fear." Skateboarders question him on whether he has hooked up with Eliza, and Henry begins to reflect on his time with Eliza and his blossoming feelings for her. He says that next time he'll be ready, implying that eventually he will admit his feelings to Eliza.

Lost Girl S05E04 Recap: When God Opens a Window

Tamsin has a little bed acrobatics with Chad, and wishes for Chinese food. Bo walks in with just want she wished for. She was suppose to come back and help her out with her badassery and weapons, but instead she left Bo hanging so she could bang a guy she can't be bothered to remember the name of. Sated in one way, she just wants into Bo's boxes, but Bo wants Chad into her, since he is conveniently in her bed. Tamsin tells Chad to buckle up, and Bo pounces.

Mark runs to get on a bus, but he doesn't have exact change. The bus driver refuses the watch at first, but Mark pleads with him, and he reluctantly agrees. Mark sits super close to the only other person on the bus, a pretty girl, and gets to flirting with Maggie. He charms her, and reads her all too easily, pegging her as pregnant. Maggie bristles, and Mark tries again. Maggie is a singer, wanting to make it big. She's always gotten compliments on her singing voice, and her uncle gave her a pitch whistle. Mark accidentally drops the whistle, but when he goes down to retrieve it, Maggie is shot dead through the heart. Mark is so not the guy to make friends with, no matter how sweet he seems. Mark hurries to get away.

Tamsin mows through the Chinese food, nearly eating herself into a food coma, when Mark runs in. Tamsin wonders if he's delivery. He's not delivery, but he's definitely hungry, as he powers through the rest of the take out. He apologizes to Tamsin and Bo for bursting in, it doesn't exactly look like a detective agency, which is exactly how Bo likes it. Mark is on the run, but claims to not have done nothing. He tries to pay with a watch, again, but Bo refuses his watch. Mark doesn't have much, and even offers him some of the men's clothing she has a collection of. Tamsin doesn't trust Mark one bit, but Bo wants to make whatever is chasing Mark her problem. Bo sets some guidelines if they're going to have a successful partnership. 1. When you say you're coming back with weapons, come back with weapons. 2. They need a more positive way to speak to eachother, and 3. They help those who need help, so deal with it. Tamsin doesn't really like her tone. Bo tells her that there's something that is familiar to her. Tamsin reminds her that he's not Kenzi, that they can't keep every stray. Mark overhears everything. Changed in new duds, he goes to leave, but Bo stops him. She's a pro at running, and she's learned that no matter what, you can never run far enough, the past always catches up. He needs to face it head on. He leaves anyways, and Bo isn't surprised. Tamsin heads to Bo's room. Mark tossed the thing up, and now its Tamsin's turn to do things her way.

Lauren is impressed by the grounds. The former Morrigan, rides in on her horse, at least Evony is keeping a low profile now that she's human. She makes some off colored comments, which the butler doesn't find funny. Only Lauren thinks she's funny. She follows Evony to brunch. Evony wants the dish on Lauren's murdered assistant. Lauren feels remorse, but Evony is more concerned about the equip, ent inside. She asks about three dead bodies, a fact that Lauren was kind of hiding, but Evony has ears everywhere, and she will not be made to look like a fool. Lauren assures her that the security papers that she's signing will assure that, but the serum she wants Lauren to make is a whole other story.

Mark is on the run again. Tamsin catches up to him first, and she's all valkyried out. Bo tells Tamsin to bring down the scare factor, and Tamsin asks for an aside. Tamsin needs to let her bad cop fly, but Bo thinks that they need to try something sunnier. Its all very Dr. Phil as they try to listen and acknowledge eachother's feelings. Mark tries to make a break for it, but the girls turn on him. Bad move buddy. Mark tries to assure him that he's really a good guy, but he needs to get out of town fast. He's sorry for stealing, especially since they've been so nice to him, but he didn't have a choice. He feels that “he” is here, right before Bo gets a arrow through her back. Oooh, she's gonna be one pissed succubus. Tamsin goes to help Bo as Mark run off. Tamsin pulls the arrow out of Bo.

Trick takes out the trash, and a pair of ruffians looks for trouble. Trick doesn't want any. They tell Trick he just needs to let them inside, and there will be no trouble. Trick doesn't think that's a good idea either, and before the men can strike, they're tossed aside like rag dolls at the flick of a mesmer's wrist. Vex is back!

Back at home, Bo can't believe Tamsin just pulled the arrow out of her, but Tamsin insists that it was for her own good. Tamsin makes her laugh, and Bo cautions her against it, it hurts. Tamsin leans in for a kiss, which makes things a little better, but Bo isn't healing. Tamsin tries again, and not only does it not help, Lauren walks in, and walks out too.

Trick goes to Dyson. Dyson nearly wolf's out on Vex. He doesn't exactly get a warm welcome, the whole betrayal thing may still be fresh in his mind. Trick reminds Dyson that its better to have a mesmer and not need him, plus he has a case for Dyson. He gives Dyson the file on the three dead, marked humans. Dyson has no choice but to play nice with Vex, as Trick is the acting Ash.

Lauren is amazed that she just took fae krytonite out of Bo's shoulder. Its a metal derived from a parasite. It's a mineral and alive. Everytime that she healed it would resplit open the wound. Bo looks at it with disgust, as Lauren marvels over the pair in their respective test tubes. Tamsin wonders if the shooter can find them with it. Lauren thinks that she has the healing touch, but Tamsin moves to make her heal faster, with a kiss. Bo heals up, and wants to find the archer, but knows they need to find Mark first.

Mark is chowing down at the Dal, trying to hustle a couple out of some traveling money when Bo and Tamsin catch up to him, and they want answers. He claims to not know much, but Tamsin doesn't buy his story for a moment. Bo points out that she could have been killed. He owes her an explanation. He's been hunted for a long time, but he isn't sure why. His mother died when he was young, and he has no other family. Tamsin asks what type of predator he is. He isn't sure. He hasn't changed yet, but he keeps leaving a body count in his wake. Bo wants to help, but he has to trust her, no more lies.

Back at the crack shack, Mark tells her that he's been moving around from place to place, and has no chance to settle down, or find work. That's not really a priority at moment, Bo points out. Her shoulder still hurts, she wonders if there is still shrapnel in there. Mark kisses her to heal her, and Bo pulls back, before diving back in. Someone enters with a knife, he's been waiting a long time. Bo's been waiting all night too. Tamsin jumps out from hiding. Oooh, Bobo set Mark up. Lauren too jumps out of her hiding spot and shoots the guy full of tranquilizers. They plan to take him back to the lab, but Mark wants the hunter to die. Lauren shoots him too, and considers that maybe someone else should take the gun.

Lauren marvels over the hunter's knife, and its ancient bone handle. Bo only has eyes on the hunter though as he awakens. She's not really happy that he tried to kill an innocent fae, and he shot her. The hunter claims that the kid is anything but innocent. He claims that Mark killed his wife and child, that he hunted them down in cold blood, that he ate them. He plans to continue to hunt Mark, to make him suffer as he has. Bo doesn't quite believe, but she's willing to try. She asks for his hand, and uses her powers on him to gauge his sincerity as he tells her again about his wife.

Dyson tries to get to work, as Vex annoys him with questions about Mummies and their portrayal in modern times. Dyson remains focused. Vex offers to help him out, but his continuing babbling sends him over the edge. When he sees Vex's face all he sees is the man who helped kill his partner, he sees nothing more than Massimo's face. Massimo broke Vex's heart. He raised him from a child, he knew he was bad, but he still saw him as precious, something to protect. Dyson mocks his legacy. Vex isn't taking it lying down. He reminds Dyson that he's the one that let him go in the first place. Dyson punches him, and warns him that if he's there when he returns from the clinic he will kill him.

At the clinic, Dyson notices a familiar smell. Lauren doesn't smell it, but Dyson's wolf nose picks up a bad smell. Lauren reminds him that its a hospital, there's lots of bad smells, and gets his focus back to the body at hand. Vex arrives with theories of his own. Dyson warned him. Vex tells him that he tried to get Massimo to leave town, and Dyson punches him again. Vex reminds him that Hale was his friend too, and Dyson pulls his gun on him. Dyson warns Vex again. Lauren tells Dyson that he's telling the truth, she too was with Massimo at the end. Dyson doesn't like to always be a good guy, and he raises Vex up with the gun shaft. Vex tells him to just do it, as Lauren talks him down. Hale and Kenzi were no one's fault. Dyson leaves.

Mark awakens, wondering what happened. Bo reminds him of the previous events, just a normal thursday. Mark tells her he can explain. Bo hopes so because the hunter was pretty convincing. She asks him about the hunter's family, his ear. Mark admits that he did bite the ear off. The hunter killed his mother, he didn't have much a choice when he came after him. He was six at the time, hidden under the bed when the attack happened. He hid the entire time. Bo warns him against lying, but Mark is sure it is the truth. When the hunter was finished, Mark jumped on him, bit the ear off, and ran, just like he did when Bo got hurt. He's a coward that runs at the first sign of trouble. He's sick and tired of running. Bo assure him that killing the hunter is not the answer. He asks what is the answer. He has no where else to go, no one else to turn to. Bo is inexplicably drawn to him. She pulls him in for a kiss.

Vex mutters to himself but with Dyson's wolf hearing, he heard it. It jogs something from his memory though. The first was a cop, a pig. He was branded and hung so that he would bleed out faster. The second was a prison guard, a bull, and he died the same way. All signs point to a pagan ritual where a pig and bull are needed. Lauren asks about the third victim. No branding, no throat slit. He died of dehydration. He was a criminal, with a heavily reduced sentence. Vex thinks that the guy was a snitch, a rat, but that doesn't fit. It's a Russian prison, the guy would be a goat. Three ritual killings, and the three missing elevator bodies. It could all be connected. Dyson asks if Lauren has anything from the missing bodies with a scent, and she does.

Bo awakens post coitus, and finds her bed empty. She calls for Tamsin, as she robes up. Mark's gone, and he's stolen her knife. The kid is going after the hunter.

Vex follows Dyson up a huge bank of stairs. Vex takes in the beauty of Dyson's shifter nose. Before they can get much further, Bo call. She needs Dyson to get to the clinic before Mark does to protect the hunter. Dyson turns on his heel, and heads back to the clinic. He was so close to the elevator blondie. She's thirsty, and wants her companion to refill her glass, but he can't. He's been electrified.

Lauren does little to stop Mark from man handling the Hunter. Mark wants answers, namely why he's being hunted. Dyson arrives, and Mark asks who he is. They're both shifters, both wolves. Mark is a little shocked. Dyson tells him that the man has been hunting their kind for centuries. Killian knows Dyson too. Dyson reminds him that they don't hunt shifters anymore, especially not those who haven't shifted yet. Mark keeps his eyes on Dyson. The Hunter figures that since the Una Mense are gone, he was just cleaning house. Mark raises the knife, but Dyson stops him. Their kind did kill his family long ago, but its time to heal the riff between them. Dyson sends Killian off, and holds Mark back as he begs to go after him.

At the Dal, Mark tears into his meal. Bo tries to understand why Dyson just let the hunter go. That's a question that Mark wants the answer too, thinking that Dyson is just a self-righteous douche bag. Dyson doesn't want to talk about it. As Bo watches him, she notices all their same movements, and actions and realizes that Mark is Dyson's son. Dyson confirms it, he knew it the moment he smelled him. Mark is shocked. Bo knew there was something about him that was familiar. Mark doesn't want the bonding moment. Judging by his age, Dyson figures out who his mother is. Mark doesn't want to hear his words. Dyson left his mother, and she died. Dyson explains that he never new she was pregnant, Mark's mother never told him. Dyson knows that no matter what he says, Mark won't forgive him right now, but he offers him a place, a home. Mark fears being turned away when Dyson gets tired of him, but Dyson won't let that happen no matter what. Family really isn't Mark's thing any longer and he's off.

Lauren cleans up. Evony is done with the BS. She wants her serum. Lauren claims that she thought Evony was happy with her rich husband. She breaks down in tears, human emotions suck. Lauren tells her that she's had some recent set-backs, as has Evony. The hubby wants to turn the pool house into a man cave, so Evony needs to store some items at the clinic. She calls in her guards, who bring in a high tech case. Evony tells her that its the most feared creature known to fae. Lauren asks what its called, but Evony claims it has no age its so old. She warns that should it get out bad things would happen, and that Lauren should plug it in asap, so it can't break free.

Dyson walks out into the alley, and Killian stalks him. Dyson tells him that he can kill him, under one condition that he leave his son alone. Killian relishes the thought of killing Mark all the more now that he knows the truth. Killian moves to strike, but Dyson has other ideas. He calls Vex, who uses his powers to hold him in place. Dyson once made the mistake of letting a killer go, he refuses to make that mistake again. He wolfs out, and Killian is no more.

Bo tries to let the son knowledge sink in. Tamsin relishes the blackmail potential. There was a time that Bo thought Dyson was her soulmate. Tamsin points out that they're good together, even if they're just friends. Tamsin admits that there was a reason she was hard on Mark. She knew he was trouble, that he was a liar, but most of all because he was just like her. When she was in Valkyrie school she hurt a lot of people, did a lot of things she wasn't proud of. Bo tells her that they're going to be okay.

Dyson sits and drinks, with Killian still in his hair. He's looking at old pictures. Piper, was Mark's mother. He had heard that she died, but he never heard that she was pregnant. He wasn't really into long term those days. Bo points out that Mark could be his second chance. Dyson loves her, thanks her for stopping by, but he just wants to be alone for now. Bo kisses Dyson, leaving him to his grief. He thanks her for taking care of Mark, telling her that he could use a big sis. Bo laughs uncomfortably, yeah sister. Dyson turns back to his pictures, shuffling crime photos around. Three photos make a symbol, that may be familiar. He walks away, and the symbol becomes electrified, charring the surroundings as lightening strikes.

The Librarians S1E5 - "And the Apple of Discord" Recap

Flynn returns to help the team with the latest magical threat: dragons. The dragons live beneath the earth and when angered awake and can cause all kinds of trouble, including a series of strange weather happening throughout the weather, such as earthquakes. Eastern and Western dragons have had a blood-feud stretching back many millennia and if the problem isn't fixed, a war will break out. Eve isn't too pleased to see Flynn, as she feels he is undermining her authority as team leader.

The team meets a representative from the Eastern dragons, who appears in the form of a man despite being a dragon, known simply as Mr. Drake. Flynn, Eve, Jake, and Cassandra head to Vatican City in search of a dragon lair under the city. The team makes their way through some booby traps and encounter the Apple of Discourse, which induces a person's personality to make a change for the worse. The apple first infects Jake but later transfers its evil ways to Cassandra. She is able to easily take down Lamia when attacked by her. When the team catches up to her, Eve and Flynn end up fighting while both holding the apple but then the apple goes just to Eve, then back to Flynn, and Lamia ends up in a scuffle with them too.

Meanwhile, Ezekiel finds himself having to chair a conclave of several magical organisations in which they must try to resolve their disputes peacefully. Unfortunately for them, things take a turn for the worst when Dulaque shows up trying to remove the Library from its historical role as arbiter among them. Ezekiel is upset when Jenkins attempts to leave him, but Jenkins eventually comes back to help try to keep things under control. Unfortunately, the session is interrupted by a power-crazed, apple-holding Flynn. Happily, the team is able to get Ezekiel close enough to pick-pocket the apple away and Flynn convinces the conclave-attendees (minus Dulaque) of the necessity of the Library. Ezekiel is also able to stop Mr. Drake from making any more trouble.

Finally, Jenkins has a private moment with Dulaque and tells him off, knowing that he was the one to wake the dragons and cause all of the trouble that the team just had to face, all for his own agenda. Doctor Who - "Last Christmas" Recap

It's Christmas Eve and there's something on Clara's roof. She goes to check what it is and discovers Santa Claus, two elves, a sleigh, and reindeer. Clara isn't inclined to believe in him but Santa seems to hint at Clara's still believing in fairy tales. The discussion is interrupted by the Doctor arriving to bring Clara on another adventure but Santa tells the Doctor that he'll need Santa's help before the night is over and offers him a tangerine. Once inside the TARDIS, Clara notes how much she has missed the sound it makes, and the Doctor asks Clara if she believes in Santa. Clara, being very much swept up by the moment, says that she does.

A group of scientists at the North Pole are trying to rescue some of the other crew members from some crab-like creatures. They're deaf, blind, and telepathic. They can only see those that see them by honing in on the images of themselves in someone else's brain. The Doctor and Clara arrive and must act fast, as they find themselves under attack. The Doctor and Clara get into an argument in which Clara reveals the truth about Danny Pink being dead. Just when it seems as if they're all done for, an explosion goes off and a tangerine comes rolling through the gaping hole in the wall, followed by some toys. That's right, folks, Santa Claus has come to the rescue.

Santa explains that the creatures are Dream Crabs that induce pleasant, euphoric dreams in the minds of their victims before devouring the person's brain. Now they must all band together to save Christmas and the world as a whole. While the group is trying to determine a course of action, the Doctor and Clara both admit their lies to each other. Clara lied about Danny's return from the Nethersphere and the Doctor had lies about finding Gallifrey.

The team are continuing their investigation and determine that the Dream Crabs use telepathic connections to their victims to see their surroundings. Also, they wake up any time they are being thought about and watch some recorded surveillance footage. During this research, a specimen they had previously thought to be dead and awoken before escaping from the jar. Clara had left the room and was attacked by it.

Clara wakes in a dream world where Danny is alive and they are together for Christmas. She receives warnings on chalkboards about it all being a dream and the fact that she is dying but she ignores them, wanting to be with Danny instead. She momentarily hears the Doctor trying to wake her but shuts out his voice. The Doctor asks Santa for help in retrieving another creature so the Doctor can enter her dream world and make her face the reality of the predicament she is in. Danny is the one that's able to convince Clara that she must accept his death and go on living. She can give herself five minutes to mourn him each day but carry on the rest of the time. He also says that their reunion was simply a Christmas bonus. She agrees and says goodbye, and both she and the Doctor wake up. The creatures are sent flying off their faces and turn to dust.

The Doctor realises that the feeding being interrupted is what kills them. He then deduces that they are all in a dream since they have the same "ice cream pain" on the side of their head and there's no way they could have made it out from that first attack when they met. The final proof is when he has the team of scientists check the manual they had all been issued, since the beginning word of each page is different but they should all be identical. The Dream Crabs, however, were unable to stop their subconscious from fighting back; their subconscious came to them in the form of Santa. Santa helps them to put things together and wake up.

The Doctor and Clara realise that they have to wake up once again, since "Santa" had visited Clara on her roof. He notes that upon asking everyone why they are at the North Pole, they all answer, "It's a long story." They also only have four manuals even though they had a crew of eight. They're probably not even in the same place but have simply been transported into the same nightmare. The four infected personnel are manifestations of the crew's minds that have already surrendered to death. During this discovery, they then lose one of the crew members. It appears as if they'll be cornered and done for until they dream up Santa, who rescues them and flies them "home." On the way back, the "crew" beings to remember that they're not scientists at all, but people from a variety of backgrounds and possibly other parts of the world. One by one, they begin to wake up and find disintegrated crabs by their side. They also don't seem to remember one another after waking up.

After the crew wake, the Doctor wakes and only Clara is left. She delays waking up and then the Doctor goes to Clara's and uses the sonic screwdriver to zap the crab on Clara's face and remove it. But once Clara turns on the light, the Doctor finds that it has been 62 years since he last saw Clara. The Doctor catches up with Clara and learns the various things she has gotten up to in her life. The Doctor eventually apologises and expresses regret for not coming back sooner. But they are then interrupted by Santa, who tells him to wake up, which he does for real this time. He rescues Clara for real this time and finds that she is the same age he knew her as. The Doctor then offers Clara all of time and space, and invites her to join him in the TARDIS again, which she agrees to do. As the two run off to get inside, they are left unaware of there being a tangerine left on Clara's windowsill.

Doctor Who will return on BBC One in 2015.

Selfie S1E12 - "Stick in the Mud" Recap

Henry is excited about Kindercare's upcoming charity event, as he has been training for this annual 10K run. Charmonique tells Eliza that her sister has called, which is a surprise to Henry since Eliza had claimed her family was lost at sea. Eliza is not fond of her sister Bethany because Bethany was always the perfect sister and outdid her.

Unfortunately for Henry, Saperstein decides that Kindercare will partake in an obstacle mud run instead. Freddy however, is thrilled since he excels in this event. Freddy becomes jealous over all of Henry's assignments for Eliza, believing it to be a threat to his relationship with Eliza. He instigates Henry to start feeling more competitive about excelling in the mud run.

Eliza prepares for Bethany's arrival. She notes how hearing her voice reminds her of being an insecure five-year-old again. Eliza is determined to prove that she is just as good if not better than Bethany, but is out-shined once again when Bethany announces she is pregnant. Eliza tells Henry that Bethany has gotten pregnant just to make her feel like her life is insignificant. She then pushes Henry to make nice with Freddy and have him help Henry train.

When Henry is out training with Freddy, Freddy continues to be hostile and rude. Eliza and Bethany also continue to butt heads. This hostility between the two pairs carries on into the race. Bethany encourages Charmonique that she can do well in the race and Charmonique takes off going. It's the final straw for Eliza, who makes clear her disdain for Bethany seemingly acting like she is better than Eliza.

Freddy and Henry end up tackling each other and wrestling in the mud, as Freddy tells Henry he's sick of him undermining his relationship with Eliza, and Henry is sick of Freddy making him feel insecure about his age.

At home, Eliza shares how she always felt like when she was born, their family fell apart and Bethany apologises for the fact that their parents were divorcing and it led to her not getting as much attention. They reconcile, as do Freddy and Henry, who tied for second in the mud run, while Charmonique came in first. Eliza is happy to see that Bethany has finally followed her back on Instagram and then decides to call their mother for the first time in a while.

The final episode of Selfie airs next Tuesday on Hulu Plus.

PREMIERE OF “MARVEL’S AGENT CARTER” ON ABC

Dominic Cooper (“Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger”) Guest Stars as Howard Stark

MARVEL’S AGENT CARTER: Pilot – SERIES PREMIERE
ABC presents its second action packed series from the creative minds at Marvel in “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” inspired by the feature films “Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the short “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.”  The series premieres TUESDAY, JANUARY 6 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET).

Years before Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team swore to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive, there was Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, “Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), who pledged the same oath but lived in a different time when women weren’t recognized as being as smart or as tough as their male counterparts.

But no one should ever underestimate Peggy.

It's 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field; putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America.

In the premiere episode, “Pilot,” when old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, “Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy -- the only person he can trust -- to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis, to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for selling these weapons of mass destruction. If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” stars Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, James D'Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj as Agent Daniel Sousa and Shea Whigham as Chief Roger Dooley.

Guest starring are Lyndsy Fonseca as Angie Martinelli, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Andre Royo as Spider Raymond, James Hebert as green suit, Kyle Bornheimer as Agent Ray Krzeminiski, Ashley Hinshaw as Colleen O’Brien, Carrick O’Quinn as tall bouncer, James Frain as Leet Brannis, Tim True as tipsy guy, Johnny Marques as bartender, Jeffrey David Anderson as short bouncer, James Urbaniak as scientist, Bill Kalmenson as Senator Webster, Lesley Boone as Rose, Costa Ronin as Anton Vanko and Kevin Heffernan as Madison Avenue Guy.

”Pilot” was written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and directed by Louis D’Esposito.

Fan Made Marvel Vs. DC Trailer may be the best thing you see all day

Think of how excited you were when you first saw a Marvel tie in, or more so when the Avengers assembled. If you're a comic fan you were very much excited. News of Batman vs. Superman brought San Diego Comic Con's Hall H to its knees with howls of delight. But the one thing that may never come to fruition is a Marvel and DC crossover.

Before you scoff, think back to yester years, not all that many, but Marvel and DC crossovers in the comic world happened often and epically. Admittedly though those too have gone by the wayside, but a girl can dream.

Now one fan makes dreams a reality, by using footage from movies such as The Avengers, Fantastic Four, Man of Steel and Iron Man to television such as Arrow, The Flash and the rejected Wonder Woman pilot, and it is truly glorious. There's even a couple of shots from the game Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Alex Luthor ingeniously crafts a teaser that pits Superman against Thor, Batman against Iron Man, Quicksilver against the Flash, and that's just to name a few. The sad part is that this isn't actually coming out, but maybe that's a good thing. I'm not sure any of us are prepared for so much awesomeness on one screen. For now I would settle for a little Deadpool/Harley Quinn crossover.

The Diversity Chronicles #02 - "What's On Monday?"

Welcome to The Diversity Chronicles, a new op-ed series that will examine diversity and representation, predominantly in Western media.

What's On Monday?

The Originals (season 2 returns on Monday, January 19, on the CW at 8PM)

This fantasy series is a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries. The show examines the Mikaelson siblings from whom all vampires originated. Diversity comes in the form of Klaus' protege, Marcel. Actor Charles Michael Davis did fantastic work with Marcel's arc in season 1, but sadly Marcel has become more of a sidelined token in season 2. However, with the return of other Mikaelson family members Esther and Finn, in new bodies, brings forth two strong performers: Sonja Sohn and Yusuf Gatewood. These two have made the characters more compelling to watch than ever before.

Recommended episode (The Vampire Diaries 4x20 - "The Originals"):
This back-door pilot of the show was our first introduction to Marcel and drew us in immediately to wanting to know more about the character. Plus, it gave us his most iconic line: "I'm the king."

Gotham (season 1 returns on Monday, January 5, on FOX at 8PM)

This superhero series serves as a prequel to introduce the back stories to such iconic characters in the DC universe as Batman, Detective Jim Gordon, Penguin, Riddler, Cat Woman, etc. Diversity comes predominantly from two characters. First, there's Fish Mooney. Jada Pinkett Smith packs quite the punch as this club owner/mob boss and we just can't get enough of watching her scheme and be an all-around badass. Also worth watching is Renee Montoya; a detective in the Major Crimes Unit and also has romantic history with Barbara Kean. Victoria Cartagena entices us to want more from and about Renee Montoya with her strong performance.

Recommended episode (1x04 - "Arkham"):
Fish Mooney shows us just how tough it is to earn a spot in her crew through one of the most surprising and memorable moments of her character's arc thus far.

Sleepy Hollow (season 2 returns on Monday, January 5, on FOX at 9PM)

This apocalyptic fantasy series was so much a fan favourite in its first series that it was renewed for a second season after just three episodes. With so many POC characters (Abbie Mills, her sister Jenny Mills, Captain Frank Irving, Deputy Andy Brooks, Abbie's ex Luke) that were well-acted, and for the most part well-written, the show offered fans representation the likes of which they had rarely seen before. But season 2 has lost sight of that and fallen so far off track that we're more inclined to recommend that you just re-watch season 1 again and again. We'll let you know if things turn around, though.

Recommended episode (2x09 - "Mama"):
If there's one notable exception to the many flaws of season 2, it's "Mama," a Mills-sisters-centric episode in which Abbie and Jenny are reunited with the spirit of their mother and with such profoundly moving performances from all three actresses, we couldn't help but be emotionally moved.

Jane the Virgin (returns on Monday, January 19, on the CW at 9PM)

This dramedy is based on the Venezuelan telenovela "Juana la Virgen," and centres around a young woman (and yes, virgin) named Jane Villanueva who is accidentally artificially inseminated during a routine gynaecological visit. The gynaecologist is the sister of the father of the baby, Rafael Solano. Rafael is the owner of the hotel that Jane works at and he also had some romantic tension with Jane a few years prior. This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as hilariously over-the-top plot relations are concerned, but get this: the show is actually brilliant. Gina Rodriguez is absolutely sensational as Jane, as are Andrea Navedo as Jane's mother Xiomara, and Ivonne Coll as Jane's grandmother Alba Gloriana Villanueva. It's so refreshing to see a show in which the female protagonist has all areas of her life explored. Though we're routing for Jane and Rafael as a romantic couple, it is not the main focus of the story. Equal, if not more, attention is paid to the family dynamic of Jane with her mother, grandmother, and even her father (who is a telenovela star), as well as her career, and her struggles to always do the most moral thing. The show has heart, depth, but also fun, and fantastic comedy. It embraces its over-the-top premise and powers through with strong performances from all the cast, and the "Latin Lover Narrator" offers up hilarious accompaniment to the various plot developments, making you feel as if you have a buddy watching with you at all times.

We'd like to also give extra kudos to the use of the Spanish language in the show. Rarely is a bilingual home depicted as the centre of a show, and this offers up representation to everyone who grew up speaking more than one language at home. Also, Jaime Camil brings to life one of the single-most hilarious characters we've ever had the pleasure of watching, Rogelio de la Vega. Rogelio is a world-famous telenovela star as well as Jane's father. He is enormously sure of himself in his superstardom, and has some of the best lines on the show, often leaving us clutching our stomach from all the laughing we're doing. But at the same time, we've seen just how much it means to him to connect with his daughter, even if his execution in doing so is a bit off the mark at times. Jane's entire family offers up some truly compelling moments. Jane's mother Xiomara is entirely self-sacrificing, always putting Jane first, and Alba loves Jane no matter what, despite her highly conservative views about love, sex, and marriage. As for Rafael, what was most striking about him is that he wasn't just another hot (though you should have no doubt, he is indeed hot) love interest that goes through the show being insufferably clueless. When his wife Petra is scheming, we get to see him begin to put the pieces together on what she's up to. Rafael has brawn and brain. It's the best Monday night has to offer.

Honestly, we could go on and on with all the good things that Jane the Virgin has to offer so we'll just sum it up with this: Love yourself. Treat yo self. Watch Jane the Virgin.

Recommended episode (1x04 - "Chapter Four"):
If we're being honest, you really should watch every single episode; there hasn't been a single one yet that wasn't less than fantastic. But seeing the range of emotion Gina Rodriguez exquisitely displays in just a few seconds, and how much she communicates as Jane learning the true identity of her father and that her mother lied to her for all these years, was a game-changing moment for us. (Even the mainstream critics noticed; Gina Rodriguez has rightfully been nominated for a Golden Globe).
