Evil Dead: Ash is a girl?
The Evil Dead remake is set to start filming this March in New Zealand, and as exciting and horrifying for some fans as all that is there is now news of the lead. For those worried that no one would be able to step into the amazing Bruce Campbell's shoes, rest assured, the new Ash isn't anything like Campbell's, because Ash has been turned into a girl.
You read that right, Bloody Disgusting is reporting that a girl has been cast in the lead role. Ghost House and Mandate Pictures have cast Lily Collins as that girl, Mia, who is up in the cabin to detox.
In this version of the film, five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) discover a Book of the Dead while in a remote cabin. A demonic force is unleashed and each one becomes possessed, until there is only left to fight for survival.
David is a mechanic and is engaged to Natalie. Olivia is Mia's best friend and a nurse. And Eric, presumably, is the kid who unleashes the demons, and hopefully comedic relief
Bloody Disgusting also reports that After a recent overdose, Mia struggles with her new-found sobriety. She begins acting insane, so it comes as no surprise that nobody believes her crazy claims of coyote dogs and trees attacking her!
Fede Alvarez is directing this redo of Sam Raimi's cult classic 1981 The Evil Dead from his own screenplay co-written with Rodo Sayagues. Revisions were done by Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody.
"The Evil Dead" is trying for a release date of April 12th, 2013. Is anyone else horrified by all this news so far?
