The Evil Dead Trailer is here!

Since the Evil Dead movie was first announced I've been super excited, but slightly unsure how I felt about the lack of Bruce Campbell. Let's face facts, Bruce makes everything better, and though he stood firmly behind the movie, along with Sam Raimi, it's not going to be the same, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Well, our first glimpse of the movie is here, and all I can say is Wow!

Not only does it look really scary, seriously scary, it's more than a little gory, and this girl is loving it!

Check it out below:

Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

A core cast of young, fresh talent includes Jane Levy (“Suburgatory”) as Mia; Shiloh Fernandez (Deadgirl, Red Riding Hood) as David; Lou Taylor Pucci (Carriers) as Eric; Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) as Olivia, and Elizabeth Blackmore (Legend of the Seeker) as Natalie.

Lionsgate to remake Leprechaun

Lionsgate and WWE Studios are planning on bringing the Leprechaun series back to life as a part of a two film deal.

The original followed an evil, sadistic Leprechaun goes on a killing rampage in search of his beloved pot of gold through 6 films.

WWE CEO Vince McMahon wants to give their studios some time to grow under new lead Michael Luisi, who was given the film division in September.

Here are the new leads thoughts on the project:

"We have been looking for ways to continue our relationship with Lionsgate and we saw 'Leprechaun' as the perfect opportunity to take a well-known franchise and put a modern-day spin on it. This is a property that we believe our audience will respond to and we continue to look for ways to surprise and engage them."

The movie is set for a 2013 release, though there is currently no writer, director or cast attached. The other film in the deal has yet to be determined.

But with WWE behind the picture, you have to wonder if they'll be placing one of their familiar faces into the lead, Hornswoggle (Dylan Postl) perhaps?

Leprechaun was released January 8th, 1993 and stars Warwick Davis, Jennifer Aniston, Ken Olandt, Mark Holton, Robert Hy Gorman, Shay Duffin, John Sanderford, John Voldstad. The film is directed by Mark Jones.

Cloverfield star Jessica Lucas joining Evil Dead

Jessica Lucas
Last month came the news that Jane Levy was replacing Lily Collins as the female lead in The Evil Dead Remake after she dropped out. And now come news that Jessica Lucas is in talks to join the Evil Dead cast.

Jessica Lucas is best known for Cloverfield and the dreadful Melrose Place reboot, or if you were suckered into watching the new 90210, like I was by Kellan Lutz, you may recognize her from the first season.

Elizabeth Blackmore is set for a role in the remake as well. Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Lou Taylor Pucci are already on board.

In this version of the film, five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) discover a Book of the Dead while in a remote cabin. A demonic force is unleashed and each one becomes possessed, until there is only left to fight for survival.

David (Fernandez) is a mechanic and is engaged to Natalie (Blackburn).
Olivia is Mia's best friend and a nurse, this is the role that Lucas will fill. And Eric (Pucci), presumably, is the kid who unleashes the demons, and hopefully comedic relief.
Elizabeth Blackmore

After a recent overdose, Mia (Levy) struggles with her new-found sobriety. She begins acting insane, so it comes as no surprise that nobody believes her crazy claims of coyote dogs and trees attacking her!

Fede Alvarez is directing this redo of Sam Raimi's cult classic 1981 The Evil Dead from his own screenplay co-written with Rodo Sayagues. Revisions were done by Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody.

Lily is out and Jane Levy is in for the Evil Dead Remake

Lily Collins left last week, but weep not deadites, the Evil Dead flick has a new lead, and honestly I think she'll work out much better.

Deadline has it exclusively that Jane Levy will step into the leading lady role, which may be the most fantastic news yet. The girl has been killing it on Suburgatory, and I'm excited to see her step into this role.

In FilmDistrict’s remake of Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead, Levy’s plays Mia, a character that corresponds to Ash, who was played by Bruce Campbell in the original 1981 movie.

Mia is one of five young people who head to the remote cabin where evil awaits. Recovering from a recent overdose, Mia is particularly vulnerable.

Raimi, Campbell and Rob Tapert are producing with Ghost House Pictures. Fede Alvarez is directing and co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues. Diablo Cody (Juno, Young Adult) revised the latest draft.

Love or hate the idea, it's chugging ahead at full force so you might as well embrace it. There are no better people to helm the project with the original masterminds serving as producers. Just give me a Campbell cameo and it'll be an instant favorite for me.

The movie is targeted to open April 12, 2013. Levy is repped by Gersh, Suskin Management and Robert Offer.

Lily Collins is Out of Evil Dead

Lily Collins has dropped out of the Evil Dead remake!

The sweetheart who next stars in Relativity's Mirror Mirror as Snow White, had the offer and was in talks to star as Mia, a young woman trying to kick a drug habit when demons far scarier than addictions rear their ugly heads.

The deal making stalled due to "scheduling issues."

Personally I think it's best for everyone, cause as adorable as Collins is, she's no Bruce Campbell, and there is no way her Mia could have stepped into Ash's shoes.

Evil Dead: Ash is a girl?

The Evil Dead remake is set to start filming this March in New Zealand, and as exciting and horrifying for some fans as all that is there is now news of the lead. For those worried that no one would be able to step into the amazing Bruce Campbell's shoes, rest assured, the new Ash isn't anything like Campbell's, because Ash has been turned into a girl.

You read that right, Bloody Disgusting is reporting that a girl has been cast in the lead role. Ghost House and Mandate Pictures have cast Lily Collins as that girl, Mia, who is up in the cabin to detox.

"The Evil Dead" is trying for a release date of April 12th, 2013. Is anyone else horrified by all this news so far?

The Evil Dead gets a release date!

Via Movie Web

Evil Dead landed a home at Sony and Film District last month, and now the partners have set a release date of April 12, 2013. Let the rejoicing commence.

A lot of folks are against this remake, admittingly I was among them, but Sam Raimi, Robert G. Tapert and Bruce Campbell, the guys behind the original franchise, are producing, so I'm willing to give it a chance. Directing will be Federico Alvarez who co wrote the script with Rodolfo Sayagues.

Diablo Cody has been working on rewriting the script, and she's been quoted as saying that the remake is "unbelievably violent." The story revolves around a group of friends who venture up to a remote cabin, where they discover the Book of the Dead. They must fight to survive when a demonic force is unleashed after the book is read. Movie Web has been reporting that the lead character is bringing his sister to the cabin to help her kick her drug habit.

Honestly, they had me at Bruce Campbell.

Production is scheduled to begin in early 2012.

The Evil Dead comes to theaters April 12th, 2013.

'Fright Night" Press Conference with Colin Farrell

Yes "Fright Night" has been re-invented 25 years after the original was released, and Colin Farrell was here among his other cast mates Anton Yelchin, Christopher Mintz Plasse, Imogen Poots, and even Chris Sarandon who was the original Jerry Dandridge. Also present was writer Marti Noxon who has a history of vampire works and director Craig Gillespie who speaks about the differences and evolution the characters take in this "Twilight" universe we all live in today. And speaking of evolution, this remake has been done in 3D, yes you read it right...3D!

For those of you who have not seen the original "Fright Night" horror/comedy thriller, the story is about a young teen boy named Charlie Brewster who suspects that his new neighbor is a vampire. And of course the perfect person to play this bad boy vampire is none other than Hollywood's best bad boy Colin Farrell. He himself told the Comic Con crowd that he is trying to change this reputation by working his butt off in these recent years, first in "Horrible Bosses", "Fright Night" and also another remake of Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Total Recall." The change is due to reconnecting with what made him want to become an actor in the first place. He also explains that his success came too quickly and his decisions on and off camera were greatly effected.

During the press conference Farrell explained that he was quick to identify himself as a long time fan of the vampire movies in general, so naturally he had to have an opinion on the "Twilight" phenomenon. Comparing his "Fright Night" vampire to Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen, Farrell says, "If it were a piece of meat, Jerry...and if it were for the love of a woman, I'm afraid Cullen would have me." Such a witty and unstaged statement from Colin that made the room fill with laughter. I would have loved to hear more about his experience in making the movie but we were told he had to leave for another appearance elsewhere, which I am guessing to promote "Total Recall" here at the Con as well. So before he makes his grand exit, he walks over to Chris Sarandon at the end of the table and plants a kiss on his head. Lots of "awwwws" filled the room as we shot many photos for this once in a lifetime moment, which by the way I did catch camera.

So because Chris Sarandon was there, he was in full support of this remake but didn't in the beginning. He says there was a certain amount of skepticism but the director Craig Gillespie and writer Marti Noxon figured out a way to make it contemporary and at the same time an 'am age' so that the fans of the original movie appreciate it and take it on a different kind of ride. Sarandon says, " I think that's what this movie does."

Marti Noxon confessed that she was not aware of how a classic "Fright Night" truly was. It's been 25 years since the original was released and the world has changed a lot. Kids live in a "Twilight" universe and there are new places to reinvent from the original. Noxon wanted to be respectful to the original but there were a lot of ways that the movie can explore the characters a little differently now. There was a challenge of staying true and reinvent the fun, horror and heart of the original movie. A question was asked, "why should we go out and see THIS movie???" Marti answers, "it's a rollercoaster horror and thrills, with bits of humor and fun!" Chris Sarandon jumps in and says, " with characters you can identify with." "Fright Night" hits theaters on August 9, 2011 so go out and enjoy yourself and watch it, it's just pure entertainment.
