Cloverfield star Jessica Lucas joining Evil Dead
Jessica Lucas |
Jessica Lucas is best known for Cloverfield and the dreadful Melrose Place reboot, or if you were suckered into watching the new 90210, like I was by Kellan Lutz, you may recognize her from the first season.
Elizabeth Blackmore is set for a role in the remake as well. Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Lou Taylor Pucci are already on board.
In this version of the film, five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) discover a Book of the Dead while in a remote cabin. A demonic force is unleashed and each one becomes possessed, until there is only left to fight for survival.
David (Fernandez) is a mechanic and is engaged to Natalie (Blackburn). Olivia is Mia's best friend and a nurse, this is the role that Lucas will fill. And Eric (Pucci), presumably, is the kid who unleashes the demons, and hopefully comedic relief.
Elizabeth Blackmore |
After a recent overdose, Mia (Levy) struggles with her new-found sobriety. She begins acting insane, so it comes as no surprise that nobody believes her crazy claims of coyote dogs and trees attacking her!
Fede Alvarez is directing this redo of Sam Raimi's cult classic 1981 The Evil Dead from his own screenplay co-written with Rodo Sayagues. Revisions were done by Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody.
