The final installment of Occultist is here, and while I’m
celebrating having it in my hands I’m a little sad for the wrap up, let’s get
started.
Detective James Charles arrives at the scene of the crime,
you remember the one from the very first issue. Powerful paranoid guy thinks he’s
making naked time with firey hooker, only for her to shed her skin and eat his
brain. Seriously, if that isn’t a cautionary tale I’m not sure what is.
Detective Melendez finally wakes up, and finds her position
less than sunny. Rob takes a chance, and Melendez picks up the slack, but
before they have time to regroup Rob is pulled away, and Meledez has no choice
but to follow.
Poor pretty little Valerie isn’t having a great time either,
not sure if it’s the crucifying or the being owned by the monster, either way,
she’s pretty much having a bad time. And Rumplekiltskin finally gets his
desire, what he's been whining about forever.
Mike Richardson and Tim Seeley always give one heck of a
ride, and Occultist #3 is no
exception. From page one the story goes at full kilter and doesn’t slow as we
finally get to the big battle. The banter between the characters is fantastic,
and the art Victor Drujiniu brings just the right about of realism to the
story, making a heady mixture that is utterly intoxicating. The ending isn’t
the ending of Occultist just merely
the start of something bigger.
