Supernatural Recap S9E03: I'm No Angel

Two priest come face to face with some suit wearing angels or demons looking for Castiel.

Castiel is ever the odd duck out, tiring of urinating. He's working in the church, that became a crime scene. He comes across the priests, who definitely can no longer see any evil.

Sam brings some artery clogging breakfast after taking a jog, the latter part concerning Dean. He's worried that he's pushing himself too hard, and Ezekiel comes in with a little interrupted message. Sam has no clue that Ezekiel popped in really quick. Sam tells him that they need to find a very human Castiel.

Internet Rev Boyle makes a plea to let angels in, nothing more than the Angel Bartholomew's puppet. One of the Reverend's girl's asks to be a vessel, and Bartholomew grants her her wish, but she was not a good choice, and goes splat. Not all who are willing can hold angels.

The boys try to figure out where Castiel is. Coming across the story of the two murdered priests they decide that's a good starting point.

Castiel still isn't use to being hungry, or any human functtion. He tries to sleep but a noise disturbs him. It's an angel, and when he wounds Castiel, he's shocked that he's human. Castiel shafts him, and he goes all supernova. Hopefully for Cas' sake he didn't have time to send a message via angel radio notifying the others of Cas' current condition.

Dean goes all FBI and talks to the grounds keeper, and his description of Castiel brings leads them to the name of Clarance, the name Meg use to call him. The boys head to the next Angel kill to look for clues.

Cas looks longily at some food, but rather than getting some, he goes for a tattoo. Hopefully one of those handy ones that make you invisible to angels.

Bartholomew's ploy to get Angel's vessels is working, which is great news, but his hunt for Castiel couldn't be going worse, and then he's delivered the news that not only did Cas kill the latest Angel on his tail, but he's also disappeared off the grid.

Castiel enters a church. Looking at all the angels, must be comforting and odd. He hears a woman praying for her husband to be healed. He starts talking about the fragility of mortals, and how he never understood that until now. The woman tells him that's the point of prayer, but Castiel has lost faith. She hasn't, her faith is stronger than his truth. She tells him that someone is listening.

Bartholomew plots how to find Castiel since he's warded. He's called in a mercenary Reaper for assistance, and the Reaper takes the bait, sending him towards the Winchesters.
The boys are looking at the Angel kill, which to the cops aren't adding up. The boys look through the man's remaining belongings, and come across ole Rev Bobby Boyle's podcast. Sam puts two and two together, linking Boyle to the Angel vessels, and see that Boyle has a whole lot of followers. What they don't see is the Reaper watching.

Castiel has learned the fine art of dumpster diving, or atleast trying it out when he runs into a kind soul. She gives him her sandwich, and her kindness surprises him.

Dean and Sam go to the homeless camps looking for "Clarence." Most are vary of them, but one guy talks to the boys. Clarence is gone, but they have a lead.

The lady goes to leave work in the pouring rain, and she spots Castiel. She can't bring herself to leave him behind, and she takes him to her small apartment. April gives him a towel to dry off.

The boys plot where to start their goose chase in Detroit, while the Reaper overhears everything, but they finally get the upperhand on the Reaper, and turn the tables.

April asks how he got his wound as she cleans it. He tells her the truth, in his odd Castiel manner, but she only half-heartedly believes him. He opens up to her about his fall from grace in the broadest of terms, and she falls for him hook, line and sinker. They play a little game of pizza boy and babysitter.

The boys torture the reaper for some answers, but other than giving them Bartholomew's name, they don't get much intel. Without being of much use, they rid themselves of their baggage.

In the after glow, April and Castiel have a little pillow talk, and she wonders if whoever got him into this mess can get him out, but there's no hope of that at the moment, since they're not in contact. Castiel hopes his future contains more naked time, but in the bright light of day, April may not be nearly as sweet. She's found his angel blade.

The boys roll into town, and Dean is cranky. Get that boy some pie stat! He's ready for plan B. He calls forth Ezekiel, and it takes Zek a minute to answer, but he's not ready to come out of hiding. Dean tells him about he Reaper, and Zek is on board.

April is a very naughty angel. Tied up, April has Castiel right where she wants him, and right now she wants to know about Metatron. Castiel knew nothing of Metatron's spell, and April slices and dices as the answers Cas gives her aren't the ones she wants. Metatron took everything from Castiel, his grace being the final ingredient. He tells her that since his grace shut them out of Heaven, maybe, he's the key to getting them back in. The boys crash April's party as she stabs Castiel, and flings them around a bit. Dean gets the upper and on April and shanks her, but its too late. Castiel is dead. Ezekiel takes a heavy hand with Castiel, and Dean is forced to come up with a quick cover story. He sloppily pieces one together.

Sam asks how Dean knew where to find Castiel, and Dean heaps on the lies. Castiel marvels at the wonders of the Boys' lair, and he finally has come to understand the moral coil. Dean focuses on the sex, and Castiel has so much more to learn about the human condition, but all he's worried about is burritos. Ezekiel is worried about their safety. He tells Dean that warded or not he cannot stay, that Castiel is a danger, that if he remains Ezekiel, himself, is in danger and he'll be forced to leave Sam, who still isn't strong enough to survive without him. Ezekiel doesn't spill anymore of his beans, and Dean is forced to deliver the worse news possible. He goes to tell Castiel he has to leave. Poor Castiel, there's no way Dean can actually let him leave, can there? Worse rock and hard place ever, and after they just found him.
