Lost Girl Recap S2E9: Original Skin
Kenzi gets
some gorgeous new shoes, that she finally paid off, but Bo is distracted with
self help books. Kenzi plans an intervention, and calls for a girls night out.
They need it, but Bo is worried about running into Dyson and Ciara. Kenzi isn’t
ready to give in, and talks Bo to go incognito to the Dal. Bo is in, but the
Dal is dead. The only people in attendance are Dyson and Hale. And it only gets
worse when Lauren shows up as well. In Trick’s tap room, some weird twitchy guy
injects one of the kegs. Looks like tonight is about to get a whole lot more
fun. Bo and Lauren share a little awkward moment. Bo tries to keep her
distance, Lauren is a bit flirty, but cuts her off to do official Ash business.
Lauren can’t
find what she’s looking for in the books she has. Trick warns her about dealing
with dark shaman. Neither have been sleeping well, and the lack of customers is
telling. Lauren suggests getting a mechanical bull, which certainly sounds fun.
One ex down,
Bo moves on to mend fences with Dyson. She extends an olive branch of
friendship, with no ulterior motives. Ciara walks in and immediately gets the
wrong impression, claws out. Bo really isn’t the cause for her ruffled
feathers, Dyson’s holding back on her and she’s all too upset about it. Bo
takes back her friendship beer taking offense to Dyson’s claims of nothing. But
the party has just begun, when a bounty hunter, Woods, comes shutting down the
Dal and barring the exit. A mental patient has escaped, aka Mr. Twitchy,
Raynard, and Woods has the magic to keep everyone in until he’s caught. Rather
than evacuating as Trick suggests, Woods tells them that Raynard may already be
in one of them. Woods isn’t taking any chances, and although Dyson is
tolerating this lockdown, Trick doesn’t like it at all. Seems like Raynard
stole a gargon’s blood and found a way to get under people’s skin. Dyson finds
the body, the blood syringe, and the tainted blood. So everyone except Trick
becomes a suspect, let the body swapping begin! Raynard has someone’s body, and
someone is not in control.
Looks like
our Bobo is the culprit, as she wakes up in a dream Dal, and has a chat with a
little girl that sounds a lot like the Resident Evil child, she’s in limbo.
The group
resorts to bickering amongst themselves. The only ones not talking are Dyson
and Bo. Kenzi is her usually snarky self, but no one seems to have picked up on
the imposter yet.
The little
girl happens to be the Nain Rouge. The harbinger of doom, a messenger disaster,
she there to witness big events, and she’s been stalking Bo because unless IsaBo(?)
fulfills her destiny everyone is doomed. Apparently her destiny is to kill
Trick.
Woods
questions Hale and Kenzi, first, and they playfully bicker as Dyson and Trick
size up Woods. They believe him to be a Boraro, who is not only good at
tracking, but not afraid to play dirty. Hale finally admits he and Kenzi are
friends, and Bo continues to be an odd ball, desperate to leave, and red flags
finally go up for Ciara. Bo quickly explains it off, but Ciara doesn’t do more
than look awkward. Kenzi overhears just a little, and when Bo mentions Kenzi’s
new kicks, she calls out Reynard’s hiding place. How did no one else pick up on
Bo’s crazy? Reynard makes a grab for Kenzi, and Dyson can only make idle
threats. He may not have his heart, but he still wouldn’t hurt Bo.
The real Bo
is ready to break free of her sucky purgatory prison, and although the Nain
Rouge cannot intervene directly, she gives her some advice, and Bo chooses a
way back, which promises to mess up things even more.
Reynard releases
Kenzi, and Woods tries to carve him out of Bo, but Dyson steps between them,
giving Bo time to release Reynard. With Reynard out, looks like Woods is now
Bo, and Bo is Woods, and then everyone does a big old swaparoo. This is quickly
shaping up to be my favorite episode as Kenzi ponders the tightness of her pants,
Dyson slaps himself silly over his facial hair, and Hale adopts Ciara’s accent.
It’s certainly nametag time!
While the
group sorts out where Reynard is, Woods questions how the bodyswap happened.
When Bo came back, she caused a ripple effect. Can we pause right here and say
how hilarious it is to hear Dyson (Kenzi) exclaim about the “wolf junk.” Looks
like Dyson is in Kenzi’s body and none too pleased about her being in his. But
Dyson (Kenzi) dancing around and playing with the sexy voice is priceless. Kris
Holden-Ried is seriously perfection!
Hale (Ciara)
gets her name tag, but there’s a holdup delivering the last one when Lauren
proclaims that she is Dyson, not Kenzi. There’s a little Texas showdown, and
Kenzi (Dyson) takes control with a round of 20 questions. Hale (Ciara) uses the
game to poke further at open wounds, rather than to get to the bottom of
things, while the Ciara (Hale) wants to make out with Dyson’s body. Looks like
the Gorgon blood is having another effect, and is magnifying the emotions of
the host.
Bo mentions
the Nain Rogue when they ponder Lauren’s spiritual whereabouts, which is enough
for Trick to pull her for a one on one. Bo recognized the little girl from before,
but never mentioned it. Trick is very concerned about the omen, but Bo doesn’t
reveal what she saw, and Bo (Woods) takes to strangling the truth out of Lauren,
which is one scene I’ve been waiting for.
Dyson breaks
up the fun, and Bo’s body goes into hungermode. She grabs Ciara (Hale) and
relentlessly feeds as Lauren smile gleefully at the room panics to stop her
before she kills the body. Dyson restrains a chi drunk Woods, and Bo sits down
with Ciara, she doesn’t give her the answers she’s looking for, but she does
promise to return her chi so she can have her body back. The bad news keeps
coming when Trick reveals Lauren (Reynard) has escaped. There’s only one place Bo (Woods) believes
Reynard would go, fueled by Lauren’s rage, straight to the Ash.
Kenzi
(Dyson) can’t warn of Reynard’s escape with his celluar, and they remain
trapped fast by Woods’s spell. Trick points out just how bad killing the new
Ash could be, especially if a dark fae like Woods incompetence caused it. Wood
wants all of the glory for the bag when the trap loophole is figured out. The trap
only works against humans, which leaves just one person. As Kenzi appreciates
her body’s alcohol tolerance, Dyson prepares to go after Reynard, but not
before Ciara gives him a goodbye/good luck kiss. Kenzi gives him care
instructions for her body, and Dyson prepares to do battle in his very human
body.
Lauren
(Reynard) plays mad scientist in Lauren’s lab and requests an audience with the
Ash. Brewing up a wicked concoction, he prepares for his V for Vendetta move.
Kenzi gives Bo
mad props over her succubus restraint, which makes her questions what it feels
like inside of Dyson. Kenzi doesn’t spill his beans, unwilling to betray his
confidences, and Bo respects that. Woods gets board and resorts to girlie hair
pin tricks to release himself.
Dyson finds
the Ash’s compound has already fallen, and Reynard already has the Ash held
hostage in Lauren’s grip. Reynard has a syringe full of freedom and Belladonna
that ensures chaos. Reynard doesn’t want to wait for what’s coming, he plans to
speed up the process. Dyson and the Ash talk renovations, but Lachlan left some
of the old fixtures in place, and luckily a tile that shoots lightning, which
he uses to incapacitate Lauren.
Kenzi
worries about her body, and Bo teases sharing Dyson’s for all eternity if he
gets hers dead. But of course Woods, has more bad news. With Reynard missing,
Woods needs to cover his tracks, and plans to burn the Dal to the ground. Kenzi
refuses to let that happens, and puts Dyson’s wolfy charms to good use, but Bo’s
body is stronger than she expects. Bo tries to use his body against him, but
she doesn’t have to cause Trick has knock out powder. And luckily Trick has
found a way to get them all back in their own bodies, just as Dyson arrives
back with his prisoner.
Circle drawn
Trick chants and everyone is returned to their former body. Bo gives Ciara back
her chi, and she awakens thankful. Woods takes his prisoner and thanks
everyone. Hale sees to Lauren, and she got her dead aunt’s cheesecake recipe in
limbo, whereas Hale can’t remember Limbo. He got a powernap out of it. Dyson and
Ciara take their leave, and thank Bo. Ciara is extra thankful to Bo. Whereas
Dyson has a new respect for the fragile mortal Kenzi, who just may be the
strongest person he knows. These two manage to pull a little tear from me, with
their touching portrayals. Kenzi feels an emptiness in him, and an
understanding of he and Bo. Watching Dyson and Ciara leave, Bo doesn’t feel
jealous, and Kenzi tells her she shouldn’t be.
Trick and Bo
share a drink, but side steps the full truth of what the Nain Rouge showed
her. She does reveal that the Nain Rouge
called her Isabo, which means something to Trick, but the two hold onto their
secrets.
The Ash is
pretty pissed about being a hostage, and beefs up his security. He goes to his
secret lock box, which contains his own severed head. WTF? Is the Ash still
himself, has he beheaded his twin, or is there some other twisted reason he has
a severed head that looks exactly like his in a trunk? How very Seven of him.
