Dollhouse was an amazing concept from the mind of the brillant Joss Whedon, where people were custom ordered. Their personalities wiped out, and replaced with the client's desire. In all honesty, I only saw the first season, but Epitaphs takes place after the second, and takes the concept a little further, where the technology has been spread like a virus throughout the popultaion making most of them dolls. A few of the lucky have escaped the fate, and to get people back in charge of themselves, the survivors need Echo's help.
But Echo is MIA. Alpha is one of the "good" guys on the hunt for Echo. But as he looks for her, he's having some internal struggles. Before Alpha's original personality was wiped he was a bit of a psychotic killer, and it looks like that part of him isn't completely gone.
The Ivies have their own weird little storyline. They're one personality split into multiple bodies. And if that wasn't odd enough, one of the bodies is attracted to the other, and one has slept with the original. Wrap your head around that tangle for a minute.
And Paul finds his way back into the mix, which may bring even more drama than he solves. It's a good show of characters, but still leaves the audience wanting Echo. Afterall, how much longer can she stay off canvas, and what the heck has she been up to?
A great read, but adds more mysteries, without really answering any questions.
