In 1956 Hellboy disappeared for five months, while investigating in Mexico. Some of those months he remembers, and would like to forget and then there are those that he says he doesn’t remember because they are too painful. Like the ones where he was a luchador and forced to wrestle Frankenstein’s creation in order to rescue a fair damsel.

The monster may be more than Hellboy can handle, as the mad doctor spills his maniacal plans. But nothing goes according to plan, and the destruction and mayhem may kill everyone including the innocent Sonia that Hellboy sought to save. Will anyone make it out of the house of the living dead? Will anyone remember the horrors?

Mignola is a master at crafting the most ridiculous of ideas and making them into a solid story. Written as an homage to the old movie monsters it is both captivating and heart breaking. It’s a solid story, that has plenty of action and things that go bump in the night.
