The last of the three big teasers of San Diego Comic Con, Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan's The Strain is finally released. The art is by the amazing Mike Huddleston, and he holds nothing back in this first issue.

The story begins with a giant of a tale, and the victims left in his wake told by a grandmother in Romania, 1927.

In the present day, across the world, a father and son try their hand at bonding, but between the ex wife calling and the father's job, things aren't going smoothly.

There's a quarantine at JFK, and all reports are saying so far that an entire plane of passengers coming from Berlin are dead, and its Ephraim's job to figure out why.

In six minutes everything changed drastically for the plane, and when the plane finally opens, everything will change drastically for the entire world, even if they don't know it yet, but the little boy from Romania, now an old man, knows what's coming.

It's a strong opening. Although not a lot in way of action so far, the story is immediately intriguing. Del Toro is fantastic at creating worlds on the big screen, I cannot wait to see what he and Hogan have planned. This is going to be the series to watch, and $1.00 for the first issue is a steal. If you haven't picked it up already, do it! You won't be disappointed.
