Beauty and the Beast S2E5 - "Reunion" Recap

Cat has a party for with some friends to pre-game for her 10-year reunion. Unfortunately, after all but one of her guests has gone, she finds a Beast in her room that has tracked the scent of Vincent. The friend witnesses the man have some Beastly powers and bad news for Cat - she's a reporter that won't give up on the story. She won't let go of the story even though Cat won't back up what she saw, claiming to have not seen any of it.

Gabe accidentally spills the beans to Vincent when he tries to get JT to trace some DNA the Beast left in Cat's room. Vincent goes to make sure she's okay before following the Beast's scent. When Vincent tracks him down, the Beast recognises Vincent. His name is Zach Hayes and he and Vincent served together, though Zach didn't know Vincent was still alive. Vincent has some flashes of their friendship and stops attacking him.

Vincent arrives with Zach right after Cat does with JT. JT remembers Zach, too. Cat is understandably confused by the chummy environment. Zach also had a fake-funeral to cover up his time in Muirfield. Zach apologises, saying he was only trying to keep from getting killed by the beast-killer. He followed the scent to Cat and Vincent seems convinced that all is well. Vincent wants to hang out with Zach to try to regain some memories but Cat is still suspicious of him. Cat wants to investigate him but Tess tells her to go to her reunion and enjoy herself while she will do some research at the station.

Vincent is having a boys night out with Zach and JT. They visit an old bar they used to frequent and when Vincent says he's trying to regain some memories, Zach brings up a girl named Gabriella that Vincent used to date. JT is uncomfortable with the conversation and slowly, Vincent begins to remember some flashes. Back at the station, Tess finds that Zach's DNA was connected to Gabriella's death in 2005 - she was torn to shreds. Bob, Cat's biological father, is present when this lead is brought to light. Zach then reveals that Vincent stole Gabriella from him after he left for the war. He vows to rip Vincent's heart out just like he did to him.

JT assures Vincent that he did not break the bro code. He didn't know that Gabriella was involved with Zach first and he only spent a few weeks with Gabriella before he left for the war and met up with Zach again. Vincent wants to go after Zach and reason with him but JT warns him that Zach is too far gone. Cat is enjoying herself at the reunion. She also learns that her "father" has been sending the school donations in her name every year, including this past year when her non-biological father was already dead.

Tess and Gabe show up at the reunion to fill Cat in on what's been happening and Bob calls Vincent to tell him about Gabriella's death and orders him to take him out. Vincent reaches Zach and fails to talk him down. They get into a scuffle and then they're both off to the reunion. Vincent gets to the reunion and Zach murders Ira, the man in the mascot costume, who had previously flirted with Cat before everyone arrived to warn her. Zach hides in the mascot costume and follows cat. Vincent pounces and has a beastly brawl with Zach to save his lady-love. In the end, Vincent snaps Zach's neck.

Beth tries to get a scoop from Gabe and Tess but they're less than helpful. She still wants to get a story out of it but the duo feigns ignorance. Tess also teases Gabe about his feelings for Cat. Cat and Vincent share a quiet moment. He acknowledges all the sacrifices she makes for him and promises to make it up to her once his missions are finished. It's a nice bonding moment for the couple before Vincent has to head out. Gabe comes in and Cat shares some photos from her time in high school. She spots Agent Reynolds (Bob) in one of her photos and realises that he is her birth father.

Beauty and the Beast airs on Mondays on the CW at 8PM.
