"The Way Back" Review

Premise: Jack Cunningham is an alcoholic separated from his wife Angela, and a former high-school basketball star. Jack is hired by the school he once attended to be the replacement basketball coach. Though this new position offers an opportunity for healing and redemption, Jack must also face the demons of his past and confront the reality of his addiction.

The Good: Ben Affleck has received rave reviews, and deservedly. so. He has also been incredibly open with the public about how personal of a project this film is for him, given his own struggles with addiction. There's no doubt that a prior knowledge of his struggles will make the project resonate more but the performance more than holds its own either way. Gavin O'Connor previously collaborated with with him on "The Accountant" and they've fallen into a great creative rhythm. There are some truly beautiful shots that linger on Jack as he processes bad news or needs to process some other sort of strong emotion.

Who This Film Is For: It's worth noting that the film is first and foremost focused on Jack. Anyone wanting a straight-forward athletic inspiration film should look elsewhere. This is a character drama about addiction and anyone open to a powerful story about this subject matter should give this one a shot.

True Blood Recap: Who Are You Really?

Huzzah it’s the start of season 6! Since the True Blood: Live from the Set already warmed us up let’s just jump in.

It picks up right where season 5 left off with the rise of Billith. Eric and Sookie barely escape into an elevator, and Billith goes ape shit trapping them inside. Sookie’s microwave fingers and Eric’s vampire strength are no match for the elevator.

Nora, Jason, Jessica, Pam and Tara form a rag tag team, none too pleased to be stuck together. They don’t know Nora, and they are all leery of one another.

Luna makes Sam promise to keep Emma, and dies. No time to shed tears though, they’re still being pursued.

After an explosion, Jason and Pam worry about their loved ones, but Nora keeps them moving, because there is nothing they can do for them at the moment. Eric arrives, the perpetual white knight and off they go on his black stalli…er SUV. Jessica inquires about Bill, but Sookie only shakes her head. The group watches as a bloody Billith emerges from the flame and takes flight.

Cue the intro music…

The group worries about the bloody “naked evil Superman,” as they listen to the governor of Louisiana declare to protect the humans of the state, not the vampires on the radio. Without Tru Blood factories, human deaths are on the rise. Vampires are to remain indoors or underground until sunrise. All vampire establishments are to be closed, and all citizens are encouraged to stock up on wooden bullets.  The war against vampires is declared and Jason is the only one in the car happy about it. Nora sees the error of their past ways, how their actions directly caused this catastrophe and Pam finally learns that Nora is Eric’s sister. Eric tells Pam to stand at his back, or move out of the way. Eric asks Nora if there is anything in the book of Lillith that could explain what they saw. Nora wants to destroy Lillith at all costs, which breaks Jessica’s heart at the realization that means the death of Bill.  Jason can’t be Jessica’s shoulder to cry on. He’s still full of vampire hate due to his parents’ ghosts messing with his head. And Tara tries to comfort Pam, though she claims to not want it. Pam loves Eric, and the more he pushes her away the more pissed she’s become. Sookie offers Jessica some comfort. She tells her she saw Bill die, and be reborn into something else. Without Bill, Jessica fears she’s alone, but she isn’t. Sookie tells her she’s there for her. Nora wishes to speak to Jason, but Eric insists that Jason knows little, but he knows about Warlow. Nora brain rapes him into telling her about Warlow, and Jason pulls a gun on Nora. Eric taunts Jason, but Nora doesn’t actually know Warlow. He was a disciple of Lillith, and Sookie sides with the vampires as Jason continues to threaten to shoot the vampires, and let’s face it Jason is acting bat shit crazy. Jessica gets summoned by Bill, and she tries to resist him, but is unable to. Eric physically stops her, and the results aren’t pretty. She vomits blood all over him, as the summoning tries to rip her apart. As she writhes in pain Sookie tells Eric to let her go, afraid it’s going to kill her. Eric tells Pam to take her progeny to Fangtasia, and he and Nora take flight, following Sookie and Jessica.

Alcide eats the flesh of JD to cement his claim as packmaster. Danielle offers herself to Alcide, and everyone begins stripping down and wolfing out.

Andy sits outside. Arlene gives him an earful about his Fairy babies. Andy admits he doesn’t know how to care for his babies, and has all the fears a new dad has. Arlene softens hearing his fears, and tells him there although there are bad times, being a parent is the greatest of joys. Terry and Arlene give diapering advice, and the baby in Andy’s arms screams, not easing his fears in the least.

Sam returns to Merlotte’s with a sleeping Emma in his arms. Something seems amiss, as he investigates he finds Lafayette is protecting the place. He questions the blood covering Sam, and is less than forth coming. Lafayette tries to drink away the memories. He knows that Luna was Steve Newlin, and he’s not the only one. It was all caught on film, and Emma tells him that her mama’s dead. Lafayette takes on the role of caretaker, and makes Emma something to eat, after swearing to keep Sam’s secret. Poor Sam has a little bit of a breakdown.

Jason hitchhikes, and is picked up by none other than a mysterious Rutger Hauer. He figured no one would pick him up covered in blood, but Rutger tells him, that a little blood never scared him. When Jason tells him where he’s going, Rutger knows of the town. He tries to get Jason to open up about his family, and open up he does.

Jessica and Sookie reach Bill’s residence, and find Billith’s bloody footprints everywhere. Armed with only sticks they follow the prints. Finally finding him out back dressed in a chair. Nora does a fly by and gets tossed into the rail, followed by a flying Eric who comes in hot with a stake, but Bill catches him before he can use it, forcing Sookie to stake Bill. He pulls the stake from his chest, intent on talking. He retracts his fangs and beckons Eric to do the same. He tells them that he means them no harm, but if they attack him again he will retaliate. He is Bill Compton, but he is also something more. He promises that the man that put the fear in their eyes is gone. Sookie tells him that she felt Bill die, and that if he means what he says that he should leave. Jessica turns feral in protection of her maker and tells them to leave. And with Bill adding his menace to hers, leave they do.

The senator meets with Miss Suzuki at a bottling plant. He wishes to partner with the Tru Blood owners. She doesn’t quite trust him, as they serve very different “people.” He offers her the bottling facility free of charge until their facilities are up and running, anonymously of course. He hopes with an alternative blood supply the vampires will fall back in line, and she agrees to the deal.

Alcide shifts back, and Danielle isn’t far behind. Rikki catches the two in a liplock, and stakes her claim on Alcide, but instead of sending Danielle away she calls her back and gives her an even more passionate kiss than she gave Alcide before making Danielle fall to her knees and pleasuring Alcide. An Alpha bitch has just been established, Rikki is willing to share as long as she’s number one.

Pam brought Tara back to Fangtasia as she was told. Tara’s dislike of Eric hasn’t changed any and she doesn’t understand the relationship between Pam and Eric. The more Tara pushes, the harder Pam pushes back. Pam mocks her and her idyllic thoughts about their newfound relationship. She and Tara were only together a night, whereas Pam and Eric were together a 100 years. Eric being an ass isn’t going to change all that was built between them in that time. The club comes under raid, and when Pam tries to use her charms against the swat team it backfires. Tara tries to stand up for her maker, against Pam’s wishes and gets shot in the gut for her effort.

Eric offers Sookie his fortune to help her go into hiding, but she tells him that it won’t matter, she’s had lots of Bill’s blood so he could find her where ever she went. Eric tells her he never expected her to save him from Bill, and to stake him no less. She doesn’t quite know who she is anymore, and he tells her she’ll always be that girl in the white dress that first walked into his bar. Which elicits more than an awwww, Sookie always brings out the softer side of Eric. He gives her back her home, written in his blood and promises to send the proper paperwork later. She tells him that she wants to be that girl again as she rescinds her invitation into her home. Eric doesn’t try to resist, only softly says a goodbye. Nora decides that Bill must be dealt with and wishes to use Sookie against Bill, but Eric warns her against it. Sookie isn’t just Bill’s weakness, and Nora realizes for the first time that Eric loves her too.

Andy’s little fairies are growing rapidly. Extremely rapidly scaring the heck out of Andy, when a toddler daughter awakens him.

Bill warms some Tru Blood for Jessica, and things almost seem like normal until Jessica drops her cup. He uses his mind to save the cup and its contents. She asks him if he knew he could do that, and he admits he did not. Jessica confesses that he almost tore her apart when he summoned her and that she feared what she would find. Bill tells her that he isn’t a monster, that he doesn’t want to be one but he doesn’t understand his powers or why he’s there. He doesn’t want to be evil, but he needs her to help him stay good, to tell him the truth when things start to get bad. Jessica willingly takes on the job to ensure his redemption. Seriously, we’re redeeming Bill again.

Jason continues to spill his guts, worrying that he’s been too hard on Sookie, that his dead parents are making him racist and crazy. Rutger tells him that he can’t keep Warlow away from Sookie, and only then does Jason figure out that something isn’t right with this picture. Turns out Rutger Hauer is none other than Warlow. Jason tries to grapple with Warlow in the car, but Warlow simply disappears, leaving Jason in a careening car.

Bill has some sort of awful acid flashback, interrupting his reading. Hearing his name, he follows the sounds finding a blood covered Lillith. Not just one, but three, and the three converge into him.

True Blood Recap: Save Yourself

Tonight, marks the season finale, and I can't say that this has been my favorite season, but I'm really hoping that tonight doesn't jack my whole watching world.

The fairies band together for one heck of a light show, and Russell enjoys the tickly sensation it gives him. He’s enjoying it a little too much, when out of no where Eric grabs him to stake him, and as he finally gets his vengeance thrusting the stake home all that light causes Russell to melt from the inside, and explode. Goodbye Russell, it’s been fun, and I’ll miss your brand of crazy, but both Eric and I enjoyed your death more than we thought we would. Steve Newlin runs off, and Nora arrives. She wants nothing more than to eat Sookie, as she goes to check on Jason, but Eric will not allow her to touch Sookie. Jason awakens and poor thing has had his little brain scrambled, and sees his dead momma instead of Sookie.

Bill is unhappy to see Sam. Sam explains that he came for Luna's daughter which Newlin has taken, and Bill doesn’t care, he’s ready to kill him. Sam changes into a fly and gets away. Bill gives chase, like a cat hopped up on catnip but Sam outmaneuvers him.

Nora wonders why she never encountered a fairy, and Eric points out that she’s been a bit too power hungry. Eric and Nora remove a bunch of hidden money, and Tara spills the news about Pam being taken by the authority as she grabs some light tight coffins. Nora doesn’t want to risk her life for a former prostitute, but Eric points out that she is his progeny, and they’re going after her. He reminds her to watch what she says about Pam, and to be nice to Tara since she's family.

Jason is seeing his dead parents, and they are some vampire hating folks. Eric, Nora and Tara go to Sookie’s to recruit her. Sookie thinks she knows whose behind the Tru Blood attacks, but Eric enlightens her that its been Bill. Tara points out multiple times that she owes Pam, and she does big time. Eric and Jason bicker like children, and Nora creeps her out, but Sookie agrees to go help Bill, and Jason decides to come along.

Bill goes over the meaning of breaching with the guards who have failed the Authority. He wants everything caught and killed, until Sam is found. Salome asks after the counselor that he killed, Bill admits his crime, and reveals what Lilith revealed to him. Salome stares down Bill as he tells her that Lilith chose her, and that he was to serve her.  Salome breathes a sigh of relief, not seeing the danger.

Luna tries to comfort her puppy dog daughter. Sam shifts back, and begs Luna to make a run for it if they come for her, but Luna refuses to leave her daughter.

Jessica tells Pam that both Bill and Eric have gone over to the darkside, but Pam doesn’t believe that Eric has bought into the dogma. Jessica is in disbelief that the boys were going to leave Sookie unprotected against Russell, and Pam sees the light in the religion.

Alcide bonds with his father as he barbeques a stag they brought down together. Alcide tells him “Words are great, deads are better.” Martha arrives with a crazed Rikki, she was force fed V by JD, and Martha feared she may have OD’d with how crazy she’s acting.

Sam flies through the air ducts, casing the area.

Jason is less than careful with his precious cargo. Sookie isn’t very happy with how he’s acting, as Jason gathers supplies to take out the Authority. His parents are only egging on his crazy hatred for the vampires.

Rikki is sweating out the V after Jackson gives her some medicine that makes the V leave her body through her pores. Alcide asks what else JD did, and Rikki wants Alcide to admit their night together meant something. He does, and I'm a little disappointed, since she's one of the poorer developments of this season. Rikki happy to hear his profession, tells him that JD called a pack meeting, and then forced everyone to drink blood, and he even raped some of the girls. Jackson tells his son if he wants to beat JD, then he needs to play by his rules, and pulls out his stash of V.

Sam, finding the intel he was looking for, comes back to Luna with a plan.

Lafayette whips up some Cajun Margaritas, which Holly and Arlene think are too die for. The mice are having way to much fun with Sam away. Andy arrives with Maurella, she's got one heck of a salt craving and Jane Bodehouse drunkingly proclaims that they slept together. Andy denies it, and Holly overhears, with her protective instincts going into hyper drive. Andy admits to her that he slept with Maurella, and that she's not only pregnant, but that she can't go to the hospital. Maurella goes all lighty down below. Her light broke.

Bills sexes Salome.

Sookie defends Bill. Jason wonders why they’ve chosen the people that they have to love, they keep getting hurt because they’re expecting something good. Sookie refuses to think that way, but Jason’s likely concussed , as Sookie finds the giant lump on head. Eric asks him to pull over, very nicely, and we get to see cute playful Eric again. I miss him from last season.

Maurella assumes the position to give birth. It’s a very rapturous moment, very orgasmic. Arlene, Lafayette, and Jane Bodehouse watch on. Holly is less than pleased to be midwifing for Andy's pregnant girlfriend, and Maurella has a girl. Holly delivers the pretty baby into Andy's arms, but she's not done.

Rev Newlin arrives, sending the shifters into a panic, but he’s just there for Emma. And when I say him, I’m pretty sure it’s Luna, especially as he begs Emma not to shift. He almost makes it out, when Chelsea the receptionist stops him to chitchat, and red flags raise when she notices his lack southern accent. He easily side steps her questions, and goes to the elevator. The elevator gives him pause, when Rossalyn arrives bitching about his antics. She summons the elevators, and off they go, complaining about the killing spree that he and Russell went on, and how they have to clean it up.

Four babies down, and Maurella leaves her job done. It’s left up to him  raise his babies, their light pact has been made flesh and she honors what was, what is, and what will never be. Holly is less than pleased.

JD drains some baby vamps. Alcide’s back and pumped up, ready for some action. Jackson and Martha are ready to intervene, but there’s no need. No one bothers to step in as Alcide kills JD. The wolves bow down before their new leader. He tells the wolves that they are going back to the old ways, and any wolf not down with his plan is free to leave or challenge him.

Eric and Nora arrive with their “captives.” They’re stopped at the gate, and the guard mentions how amazing Sookie smells, but Eric is quick to claim her. Bill okays their entry before noticing Sookie in the camera feed.

“Newlin” prepares for an onscreen interview, and Rossalyn gives him one heck of a pep talk. All “Newlin” has to do is follow his script, and Luna loses it, throwing up blood and turning back into herself. Luna reveals everything about the Authority that she knows on live Television, that they're holding people hostage and killing them .  No one expecting that turn of events. Rossalyn cuts the feed, preparing to kill Luna. Sam flies around and into Rossalyn, shifting back inside of her, splattering her all over the walls, but its too late, that last bout of skinwalking may have killed Luna as she falls over.

Bill contemplates what to do. Salome goes before the blood, preparing to drink it.

Jason, Tara, Eric and Nora and Sookie make their way down the elevators.  Taking out the security systems as Salome plans on drinking the last of Lilith’s blood. Jason takes out the secretary when the doors open, level 2 protocalls are initiated. Eric and Nora are off. Tara takes out everyone else. Eric and Nora take out a team of guards and go to disable the rest of the security system. Eric is having way to much fun dealing death. Sookie and Tara go to find Pam and Jessica. Jason kills everything that crosses his path. Sookie opens the silver door to free Jessica, and Tara burns herself to save her maker, and the two share a heck of a kiss.

Salome prepares to drink the rest of the blood, and Bill tries to talk her out of it.  She tells him that this is no longer a movement, but the Rapture, and she drinks it all down. Bill watches in relief, someone got played.

Jason keeps watch, and Sookie and the other girls join him. Jessica is so relieved to see Jason, that she professes her love, but Jason tells her that he can never love a vampire. Eric and Nora arrive, and Eric sends everyone but Sookie up to safety. Eric and Sookie plan to try to save Bill.

Salome writhes on the floor, poisoned. Bill silvered the blood she sucked down, saving Lilith’s actual blood for himself. He stakes Salome, and she admits that Lilith chose right before she explodes into a puddle of goo. Eric and Sookie arrive and try to save Bill. He makes digs at Sookie, calling her an abomination, but Sookie doesn’t back down, heaping praise upon him, and hurting Eric a little. Bill has always lived in fear and inferiority, but thinks that Lilith now sets him free, and he sounds a whole lot like Russell in his ranting. He drinks the entire vial of Lilith’s blood as Eric and Sookie watch on in horror and disbelief. The Blood causes an adverse reaction in Bill. He bleeds from his eyes and melts into a pool of blood, before he’s reborn, into a very feral Bill. Eric and Sookie make a run for it.

And this ends the season. I'm a little in disbelief, but all I can say I'm glad they didn't kill Eric, and I'll be back for next season. What did you all think?

True Blood Recap: Sunset

Bill’s hearing voices luring him towards the evil vial of blood. He tries to walk away, and a bloody Lilith comes and tells him that only one can lead them, and of course she chooses Bill. She commands him to drink all of the blood, and Bill finally does a smart thing and tries to walk away. He follows up with doing a stupid thing and looking back. Lilith is gone, but her bloody handprint remains.

Nora remembers the words of her Maker Godric, and of Lilith ripping out his throat. Salome comes, and notices that something has changed in her, she looks scared shitless. Nora pretends that all she’s worried about Russell, but Salome tells her that she has nothing to worry about. Nora goes to let the others know of the plans, but she’s most certainly changed, that crazy religious zeal is missing.

Jessica tries to use Bill’s phone, but Bill catches her and stops her. She wants to warn Jason that Russell and Steve Newlin are free and running wild, but Bill on his religious kick has found a better way, where Sookie and Jason are nothing more than food. Bill is sure Jessica will eventually see the light, and Jessica uses his Lilith bible against him, finding a loop hole in his new thinking. She poses the question of making Jason a vampire, since though good together they can never get things right and Bill sees through her plan. Bill sends for Gondry and Lambert to watch over Jessica as she makes Jason a vampire. Poor Jess really put her foot in her mouth with that plan.

Eric paces the room like a caged animal. Nora goes to her brother, and he’s more than a little happy to see her. The siblings get frisky, and it’s a little bittersweet as Eric promises to get them out of there.

Sookie freaks out over having been sold in the contract. She finally tells Jason about the weird air shape that said that she was his. Jason has to leave for work, they’re short handed with the increasing number of vampire attacks and Sookie stays at the fairy strip club.

The military comes to have a little chat with the guardian, and only gets to talk to the Authority’s chancellors. They maintain that Roman is just indisposed of, and the Colonel tells them that he is aware that they are behind the bombings that are derailing the mainstreaming movement. Bill finally opens up that Roman is no longer with them, and Salome tells Colonel it is now a Sanguinsta regime, and to tread lightly. The government is ready to eradicate the vampires, and when Salome threatens the Colonel, he’s fully prepared. He issues his own threats, and Eric snaps his neck.

Jessica meets up with Jason, and tries to get rid of her tail but they remain firmly in place. Jessica asks Jason to trust her,  she tries to signal him to follow her lead, but Jason isn’t the brightest, and Jessica is forced to take action, dropping fang and biting him.

Salome is less than pleased over Eric’s actions. The Authority as a whole is split over his actions. Eric and Nora go on a glamouring campaign to fix what he has done. Bill suspects their motives, and suggests that they bring guards.

Gondry and Lambert bury Jessica and Jason, when he springs into action and kills the two. Jessica spills the news that Bill and Eric have gone over to the darkside, and Sookie is in danger with no signs of help in sight.

Tara and Pam clean up the Elijah’s mess, getting rid of every trace of his blood. Pam freaks out a bit, and Tara learns of the Authority. Jessica comes for help. She asks for asylum, but Pam refuses. Jessica uses the Eric card, and Pam agrees to hide her.

Eric and Nora ride with their escort, until Eric nicely stakes the two, gooing up the SUV real nicely. Nora finally gives up all ties to the authority, leaving her necklace behind and the two fly away, proving how much cooler they are than Bill since he cannot fly.

Sam and Luna try to figure out where they are before the two turn back into mice and run off.

Sookie gets to meet the Elder. Maurella explains a little about the elder, she’s slightly off her rocker, since she’s in so many timelines at once. She’s found dancing around asking meaningless questions about Ke$ha and other people. Sookie asks about Warlow,  the Elder tells her that her destiny is entwined with vampires, and she needs to protect her light. Before the Elder can say anything of use, because Sookie has heard all of this before, Jason comes back with some bad news. When the Elder hears that Russell is still alive she loses her shit.

Holly has breakfast to go for Andy, and she has something more. Her boys finally apologize to Andy for plastering his backside on facebook, and admit that their momma is happy, well one of them does. Rocky, isn’t so sweet with an apology, he sasses Andy, and Andy promises to do right by Holly.

Joe swings a mean pick in the dirt. Mr. Rollands comes to warn Alcide and his daddy that the baby vamps are forming up packs and hunting. But Jackson only forces the man off his land. Alcide confronts his father over the real reason he was kicked out of the pack.

The fairies panic about Russell, but Sookie is tired of running and ready to take up arms against Russell. Maurella thinks it to be suicide, but the Elder thinks that Sookie has the right idea, and agrees to fight. Jason is prepared to fight against Russell as well, even if it costs him his life, and he heads off to be bait.

Arlene and Terry are way too lovey dovey and sweet. Andy asks what’s their secret, and Arlene tells him that it’s honesty among other things, but mainly that. Maurella comes for Andy’s protection, he swore upon the light, but apparently Andy was thinking with the wrong head when he made that pact. Andy tries to back pedal, unsure of her pregnancy, it’s only been a week, and she looks on the verge of popping and tries to get out of his deal with her. Maurella tells him that what he’s attempting will bring dishonor upon her, and it amounts to him declaring war upon her clan.

Jessica tells Pam about Bill’s zealous and down right mean demeanor, and Pam explains that he’s displaying nest behavior, something that she and Eric has always avoided. Jessica asks if she’s worried about Eric, and she feigns that she isn’t worried about him, but she’s extra catty. Jessica tries to turn her bonding attention to Tara. She doesn’t have any friends, and even if Tara goes all crazy on her at times, she’s the closest thing she’ll have to one. Tara sees her admission for the olive branch that it is, and tells her she’ll try to bring her a fangbanger later.

Rossalyn heads into Fangtasia, she’s looking for her progeny, Elijah. She knows that he’s dead, a maker can feel when one of her children dies even if he’s one of 204 and asks who killed him. Pam tells her that it was her, and she calls in her soldiers to arrest Pam in the name of the Authority. Tara watches her maker leave in cuffs. Rossalyn sniffs out Jessica, and tells her that her daddy is looking for her.

Lilith comes to Bill again, again telling him that only one can lead them, and begging him to drink her blood. Bill opens his eyes and sees that she’s gone, but there’s blood on his lips, he’s having one hell of a v flashback.

Alcide watches some baby vamps burn themselves on the fences, but as they head to a neighbor’s house, Jackson tells him to let them be. Alcide can’t do that, and runs to the rescue.

Russell and Newlin corner Jason, while looking for Sookie. Russell glamours him, and Jason tells him about the fairies.

Alcide goes to save the neighbors from the baby vamps, and he manages to kill one before the other two attack him, and Jackson saves the day with his crossbow.

Sam and Luna find Emma, but they’re caught. Sam hears Bill’s name and offers to be his meal.

Bill finds Chancellor Kibwe staring at the tainted blood. He tells Bill that Lilith chose him, but Bill believes otherwise and beheads him.

Rossalyn brings in Jessica. Pam is brought in as well, and passes Sam in the hall. He asks her to help Luna, but only does she not know Luna, she doesn’t care about her. Jessica is brought before Bill, and wants to know why she chose Jason over two vampires. She points out that at one time he chose to save Sookie by killing Longshadow, which resulted in his having to make her, and that he’s suffering from nest syndrome and its making him crazy. He slaps her silly.

Lilith goes to Salome and tells her that like the Highlander there can only be one.

Russell and Newlin head to the fairy field, and like cats on catnip they go smell crazy taking it all in. The field smells delicious, and the fairies watch the vampires flip out. Russell threatens to kill Jason, and the Elder abandons her plan for the fairies to attack, and goes out to face the vampires alone. She knocks out Newlin, and inadvertently Jason as well, but falls into Russell’s clutches. He drinks her dry, and the hidden fairy strip club is revealed to him. High on fairy blood, they see the huge danger Russell is now.

True Blood Recap: Gone, Gone, Gone

The Tru Blood Crisis continues, and the world watches while the vampire senate maintains their innocence. Sookie turns off her TV to block out the noise and enjoy her Chinese food, when a knock on her door interrupts. It’s Mike, the coroner, he tells her he’s here about the body hers, and he’s a vampire. He attacks her, and she’s forced to stake him with her chopsticks.

At the AVL, they bring Molly forth to accept the word of Lilith in front of the council. They plan to kill her no matter what she says, and they stake her with her own invention, the iStake. Rev. Newlin celebrates and Salome says a blessing. Russell wants to go celebrate and grab some dinner, Salome tries to stop them, but they leave anyways.

Mama Fortenberry drives Hoyt home, anything to keep him away from that “cheeto headed tramp.” He plans to live life to its fullest, and doesn’t plan on going home with her anytime soon. Maxine looks brokenhearted, she knows she lost her boy.

The new sheriff of Area 5, Elijah, counts up Fangtasia’s earnings, and wonders why they aren’t more profitable. With the Tru Blood shortage and lack of human customers, bar business is slow. He tells Pam about a peek show with fangs that another area deploys. But Pam has no interest in it. He tells Pam he’s been given the mandate to have more vampires made, and she needs to help out. If she doesn’t she’l l lose everything including Tara.

Andy comes to gather Mike’s remains. It was a good thing that Sookie decided to have Chinese food. Mike was a baby vamp, and a dirty pervert the two conclude, and suddenly Sookie doesn’t feel so bad about staking him.

Bill takes some of “Lilith’s”blood and places it in a box, before Eric is brought in for questioning. He makes Eric take the blood, and Nora wants to take the blood with him. Bill watches the two from a separate room via camera. The two trip out, but they don’t see Lilith, they see Godric. His blood is inside of them, and he cannot save them, they must save themselves.  Lilith comes from behind Godric and rips out his throat, covering herself in his blood. All the while Bill sees nothing on his monitor feed. Nora and Eric feel the loss of their maker.

Russell and Newlin dance close, after dinner. Russell wants to give him the world, clearly he’s molding him into his new Talbot. Russell offers him the sun, and Newlin wishes to be brought along for the ride. Russell’s crazy is starting to show, it was only a matter of time before it did.

Jessica comes into Merlotte’s, and things get a little hostile. Most of the patrons run out when she arrives, one draws a gun on her. Sam draws his in return, but another dumb red neck thinks he has the upper hand and points his at her. Lafayette points a shotgun at him, and he and Sam disarm their dumbasses. Sam and Jessica scare the one a little, and after they’re good and scared they run out, running into Jason in their haste. He talks to Jessica a little bit, checking on her to make sure she’s okay when Hoyt walks in.

Tara sizes up the patron’s trying to decide who they should  change, but Pam doesn’t plan on listening to Elijah. She doesn’t care about the bar, but she will not lose Tara or make more vampires. Progeny are made out of desire not force. She tells her that they will lay low and live as she and Eric did under the radar.

Hoyt tells Jason and Jessica he’s going to Alaska. Home is where his mama smothers him, his girl left him for his best friend and a bunch of Barack Obamas nearly got him killed. He wants them to be happy for him, but they aren’t. He tells Jessica that he wants her to erase her from his memory, so he won’t dream about her anymore. He wants her to remove Jason too, remove all the hurt so he can have a happy life. She begs him to reconsider, but he won’t. Jessica does as he asks and makes it so that she was never his first love, that she and Jason never broke his heart. He’ll never remember either of them, and he’ll be the better for it. He’s a good man she tells him, and he’ll find someone who will love him like he deserves. They say their teary goodbye. He closes his eyes, and all his hurt is gone.

Jason tells Sookie everything that happened with Hoyt, and she tries to look on the bright side, telling him that its like Hoyt forgave him. Jason changes the subject to their parents death, and Nan’s message beyond the grave. Jason thinks there has to be something more to it, and uses his police skills to search for more clues. He finds a hidden door beneath Sookie’s bed. Inside the space is a little box that holds a scroll with odd symbols on it.

Sam tries to get a meeting with Steve Newlin, and can’t even get his publicist to confirm that he has a puppy. Luna is at her wits ends trying to get someone to help her get her daughter back, but seeing as she’s a puppy people are sizing her up for straitjackets faster than rallying up the troops to help. Sam has figured out where Newlin will be next, and the two plan to head out.

The vellum that was found under Sookie’s bed looks genuine, but the professor looking at it cannot decipher it. There are no repeating characters, it’s nothing like anything that he’s ever seen and he tells Sookie and Jason that it is not any language known to humans.

Holly rewards Andy with some of Lafayette’s perfect cooking. Andy even tells Lafayette he loves him for the decadence.  The two savor their meal together, and Lafayette promises a flaming dessert.

Jessica remembers some of her and Hoyt’s first kisses, when Bill’s goons come to collect her. She doesn’t believe them at first, but Bill uses the “As your maker” card and calls her to him.

Rev. Newlin goes on air and debates with a governor, trying to dispel conspiracy theories, and secreat vampire authority myths. Russell watches the TV feed with sweet little Emma in his arms. Eric has been converted over to the darkside, and begs forgiveness. He even drops on his knees to forgive Russell for killing his family. Someone give Eric an Oscar for his little performance. Russell accepts, but there’s a little hostility, as he tells him that he’s getting the better end of the deal.

Sam and Luna search Newlin’s dressing room for signs of Emma, but her scent is nowhere in the room. Newlin returns with Caroline, Sam and Luna are no where to be seen, and the vampires leave, unrealizing the shifters where even there.

Jason pulls over Hoyt. Hoyt sees Jason’s last name, and ask if he’s related to Sookie. He remembers her a little, but Hoyt doesn’t remember anything of their friendship. Jason begs him not to go. Hoyt think that his mama but Jason up to this, but Jason’s heart just breaks a little, and he sends him on his way. Jason breaks down in the car, and Sookie comforts him.

Jessica arrives in the Authority compound. Bill is there to greet her. He gives her a tour of the AVL. Jessica listens to Bill as he Lilithfreaks on her. She sees the relation between her overzealous parents and now bible crazed maker. She’s willing to listen, but she’s hesitant.

Tara calls Elijah in a panic. She thinks she killed Ginger trying to change her over. Elijah tells her that she’s still alive,  Ginger stabs him with a silver sword. Tara beheads him. Pam comes in, and sees what they’ve done, and she doesn’t sound pleased. Tara tells her that they are not going to be messed with in their own house. Sounds like a declaration of war to me!

Newlin comes to check on his puppy, and he’s upset that she’s human. He wants her to change back, but she just wants her mama. She runs off and he tells her that her mama doesn’t want her as he chases after her with Luna and Sam in tow.

Eric and Nora debate the best way to spread their gospel, and Russell brings forth the question of fairy blood. If they can synthesize human blood, why can’t they do the same with fairy blood. Salome tells him that fairies are abominations, and that they are creatures of the night. She threatens him, and Russell finally lashes out. The dog is off his leash and off his rocker. He throws her across the room. He’s older and stronger than everyone in the room, and no one goes against him. He plans to get his seconds in the sun, and there’s one person on everyone’s mind that is now clearly in danger.

Sookie and Jason take their vellum to the fairies to have it deciphered. Claude and Claudette cannot read it, so they take it to an older fairy, Maurella to translate it. She’s very pregnant, clearly Andy is going to be a daddy soon. It’s a blood contract she tells them, but its written in code. Maurella uses a little light magic and is able to crack the code. It’s a contract giving the first faebearing Stackhouse girl to Warlow. Jason asks if there have been any since the contract was made, and he tells him the first is Sookie.

True Blood Recap: Everyone Wants To Rule The World

The Houston Tru-blood factory is ablaze on TV. Human casualties are already reported, as Bill’s plans are set in motion. How will he recover from this tragedy when Sookie finds out? Eric, Bill, Rev Newlin, Nora and Russell watch the chaos with Salome as they prepare to dine on their current victim. Bill’s all “praise Lilith,” as Salome falls into another dogmatic sermon. Can someone please stake her already? Russell suggests that Eric says grace, but Eric tells him that someone more qualified should, and  Newlin volunteers. He says a witty prayer and Salome watches with annoyance. Everyone drops fang, and dines.

Molly’s access is denied entrance to the elevator, and the secretary won’t assist her. She returns the case to a locker in an interrogation room, and Eric catches her. She disables the cameras for 30 seconds to give them time to talk. She doesn’t have the clearance to get their plan done, and she has an idea to get around it, but it’s likely going to get him killed. He’s all ears, and I’m feeling squeamish.

Lafayette stares at himself in the mirror as Sookie waits to hear what he sees, but he only sees his beautiful self. Sookie’s a little on edge after seeing the wispy vampire. Lafayette isn’t really sure how to use his powers, but he’s still willing to charge her for his half hearted efforts. Sookie asks if he’s heard from Tara, and all he’s gotten is one angry text message. Tara will come around eventually Sookie hopes. Lafayette has his doubts, but his attention quickly turns to the ghosts bombarding him with their messages. Gran is there, he sends the rest of them away, and only delivers her message. Gran is glad that the “striptease fairies” are looking after Sookie and that she’s sleeping on top of it. Sookie finds a box beneath her bed.

Jessica is at the police station with Kenya, she’s worried about Hoyt, but Kenya just doesn’t really understand the whole story. Jessica tells her that atleast he didn’t shoot her in the head, as Jason comes in, and the tension level ratchets up a notch. But in Jason's defense she did bite him first. Kenya gives him the short version of the story, nulling Hoyt’s heroics. Jason actually gets it, and goes to reason that Jessica should be able to feel if he’s in danger due to their blood sharing. She should, but he’s gone completely blank. Jessica feels guilty, and shies away from Jason’s comfort.

Hoyt meanwhile is being dragged through the dirt, which vaguely reminds me of Sam’s same treatment earlier in the season. Looks to be a barn setting, and there’s a whole lot of growly animal sounds. Poor Hoyt goes from the hate group to the werewolves, who probably think he’s been hunting them. This is not gonna end well for him.

Luna ‘s in bed, hoping that her skin walking is finished. Sam wants her to go back to the hospital, scared that she’s gonna die like Tommy did. Luna refuses to lie in bed while Sam is out hunting the Obamas.

Arlene doesn’t want to trust the ghost, the last one tried to steal their baby she points out but Terry doesn’t see any other choice.  He’s going to end this one way or another, and he leaves her.

Pam watches the news about the Tru Blood factory, and Tara wants to start stockpiling the bottles, like everyone else is doing all over the country. Pam is being more rational. By halting the serving of Tru Blood, it only puts their human customers in jeopardy, thus putting them out of business. Tara raises a good question, what to do when they run out. Simply, they’ll keep up the mainstreaming charade, just as they have been, feeding on humans in private. Tara knows its going to be a bloodbath, Pam does as well, but they’ll put on a pretty front “our heads down, and our tits up, and keep the Tru blood flowing.” Tara broaches the subject of Eric, but Pam’s less soft side emerges, and she sends her off. There won’t be any hair braiding or pillow fights for these two.  Pam always turns up the sass when she’s wounded, and Eric has left a gaping hole in her soul, she is worried, very worried.

Eric mocks Bill’s strategy, and Bill maintains his change of allegiance, and beliefs. Eric thinks that Bill’s words are just an act, one that he’s laying on too thick. Bill fears that he believes what he saw, even though they were high. Everything he believes has been turned on its ear. Eric asks what he feels for Sookie, is she just one of the cattle now? Eric still sees the good in Bill, religious crisis or not, and tells him that they’re getting out of there. Eric tells him that they need to steal Salome’s blood, since the compound is on lock down. Bill takes the needle, but I think he’s about to pull a Brutus.

Sookie looks through the box for signs of the misty Warlow, but finds the normal family stuff, photo albums, birth certificates, etc, all stuff that she’s seen a million times before. Lafayette finds Jason’s framed report card, Linda Dearborne was his teacher, and she let him get away with everything by the sounds of it. Sookie comes across a newspaper clipping, and the pieces begin to fall into place. Bud Dearborne found her parents’ bodies.

Jason releases Jessica to her guards, but she’s not worried about herself. She wants to stay and help find Hoyt, but Jason won’t allow it. She leaves and Andy, Kevin and Kenya look through all of the stuff they found at the crime scenes. Kevin looks up the most visited site on the confiscated computer, and the images are disturbing. The hate group isn’t just about shooting shifters, it makes soup outta shifters and turns vampires into roasted marshmellows.  Worse, seems they may be taking pointers from the KKK, the masks, the cross, their leader called the dragon. Lightbulb, Jason goes to search for the dragon. He goes to interrogate the guy in lock up who shot Sam and Luna, and it gets a little violent.

Alcide leaves his pack. He flashes back to his father, back to when he was a teenager, before Debbie was corrupted and everything was shiny and new. His father instilled them and others with plenty of wisdom. The wolf feels his brothers and sisters in his blood, he’s stronger because of his pack. He not corrupted like man, looking to get ahead of everyone around him. He’s pure.  Alcide heads to Jackson.

Sookie goes to visit Bud about her parents. Bud tells her that it could have been a vampire, but they didn’t know it at the time that they existed, and just figured it was gators. Bud’s vampire hatred bleeds through, as he blames them for killing her Gran too, even though that was Renee, and not a vampire, no matter how you want to tell the story. Bud panics knowing Sookie is reading his mind. He’s hiding something big, maybe something as big as a Dragon? Sookie “accidently” spills her ginger ale on Bud, and establishes skin to skin contact as she asks about Warlow. But he doesn’t know anything about Warlow. She apologizes, and gets a frying pan to the back of the head. Bud and his sweetie drag Sookie off.

The reporters close in on Andy about the Shifter shootings. There have been shootings all over Louisiana, and the reporters aren’t the only ones interested in Andy’s answers. So are Sam and Luna. He cuts the conference short, and Sam and Luna tell Andy that they went back to the crime scene and picked up another scent, pig shit. Andy tells them to lie low, but they want to do anything but, which gives Sam an idea.

Patrick sneaks up on Arlene, holding her at gun point. He tells her to tell Lafayette that Merlotte’s is closed for the day.

Sookie wakes up with piggy noses nearby, and sees Hoyt laid out in the corner of another stall. Sookie reads his mind and hears that he’s high as a kite. She tests out her microwave hands, and they’re sparking nicely, when Obama comes in.

Andy and Jason try to figure out the connections between the suspects in the Sam and Luna shootings. Kevin finds that Bud had arrested both, Junior and Joe Bob. But Andy discounts the arrests. Jason blames himself for everything that happened to Hoyt, and Andy thinks he’s the worst sheriff ever. Andy contemplates retiring, cheating on his wife, and square dancing, when he sees something on the hate website of some of the idiots dancing around, which just so happen to look exactly like the boots Bud got for his retirement. Andy and Jason come up with the only conclusion that makes sense, Bud is the dragon.  Sam and Luna as flies overhear and buzz off as Andy and Jason spring into action.

Speaking of boots, they stroll into the pig barn.  Bud comes to apologize to Sookie for detaining her.  There have been cases for decades that all point to supes being the culprit and Bud plans to put a stop to it. Sookie knocks holes in his logic pointing out that Sam is a good man whose done nothing but try to help his community, but Bud’s Sweetie and likely the real dragon, seriously she’s far scarier than Bud, comes in with two Obamas at her back spewing her twisted hate. She believes World War 4 is upon them, and the Supes are already plotting to take over, to infect their children by buying up property one bar at a time. And ha, her name is actually Sweetie.  She tells Bud to give Sookie the ginger ale, but he doesn’t want to. Sookie tries to reason with Bud, but it only angers him, and fuels the hatred. Sookie wonders what happened to them to fill them with Shifter hate. Looks like Sweetie’s husband left her for a shifter, which semi explains her crazy, and Bud reveals that Sweetie is indeed the dragon. Now where’s a dragonslayer to vanquish the beast. Bud and the Obamas force Sookie to drink the tainted ginger ale.

The cop squad pulls up to Bud’s house, but no one is home. Jason spies a picture of Bud’s wife, and remembers her as not only one of his school teachers, but also that her family owned a pig farm.

Terry arrives at Merlottes, and Patrick calls him, demanding that he drop his weapons before coming in. Terry comes in unarmed, and finds Patrick holding Arlene at gunpoint. Terry held in their secrets even when they eat at his soul. Patrick admits that Terry has always been better than him, but that his wife is at home pregnant and he has to be the one to return to her. He releases Arlene and tells him that he’s sorry. Arlene stabs him in the neck with silverware, giving Terry a chance. Terry and Patrick scuffle, Patrick loses the gun in the fight, and Arlene comes up with it.

Nora sits before Lilith’s blood on her knees. Eric remarks how peaceful it must be to believe in something so fully, and how much Nora has changed, she’s no longer the power hungry bitch he once loved. Nora no longer aspires to sit in Roman’s chair. He asks how she found God, and of course it was Salome who lead her there. It was Salome who snuck her into the room when Roman was asleep, it was Salome who let her taste the blood. Each word further cements Salome’s death for Eric, it’s clearly written on his face, he’s going to kill her and save his v addict sister. Nora tells him that believing in something other than yourself is not weakness,  poor Eric, his heart is clearly breaking. He tells her that he wants to believe and asks for her help. She agrees to help.

Bill awaits Salome in bedchamber. Salome sees her actions as shaping history as Lilith’s chosen one. Bill doubts whether or not he wishes to be one of Lilith’s chosen before he beds Salome. But as he rolls Salome beneath him, its not her he sees but Sookie, who he sinks his fangs into. The dead Sookie turns into a bloodied Lilith and he bites her again. She then turns back into Salome, and he looks a little disoriented by the whole experience.

The dragon prepares to make a video. Hoyt and Sookie are passed out, and they prepare to feed Sookie to the pig. They throw her in, but Sam shifts from a pig back to himself and saves her. Sweetie the dragon makes a run for it, and the Obamas attack. Sam holds his own until the cops arrive. Everyone gives up, except Bud. He prepares to impale Sam with a shovel, and Andy is forced to shoot Bud. Jason finds a drugged up Sookie, and Hoyt. Luna chases down the dragon as a German Sheppard, and catches her. Sam checks on Sookie, she asks him if she dreamt he was a pig or if he was. Jason holds Hoyt, begging him to survive.

Patrick begs him to either shoot him or let him go. Arlene begs him to shoot Patrick. But Patrick plays Terry’s good heart against him, and tells him he has to do what his conscious tells him to, to do what’s right. Terry sees the ghost, and she tells him the same. He shoots Patrick, and she announces that the blood has been paid. She releases the Ifrit to take what’s his, and it takes Patrick.

At Fangtasia, business is good, the Tru Blood is flowing, which pleases Pam, until she sees someone on her throne with a snack. I’m not all that good at telling her happy and mad face apart sometimes, but there’s no mistaking she’s pissed about this. She lays down the rules. She tells the little goth thing that there is no public feeding in Fangtasia, and to get out of her maker’s throne before she stakes him. He tells her that not only are public feedings now okayed through the monarchy, but that Northman is history, and he’s the new sheriff. Oh Bill, what have you done?  He kick’s Pam, and announces that humans are open game. I hope Pam stakes them both.

Sookie asks after Hoyt, Andy gives her an update, and offers to drive her home. Sam comes to tell him that he;s not the worse sheriff, and Andy thanks him.

Russell tells Newlin about his first time, and how great werewolves on v are. Newlin never had a pet, and Russell looks to change that. He’s got a whole pack of them. Martha watches the entrance with disgust, and the ensuing feeding with horror. Russell immediately zeroes in on Martha, and offers her a drink. Martha tells him that she swore her life to her pack, but refuses the v. He makes an example of her, by stealing the adorable wolf Emma, and giving her to Newlin. Martha begs JD to intervene and he does. JD gets choked, and Russell and Newlin leave with Emma.

Alcide arrives at his Daddy’s trailer. He looks nothing like the strong, proud man that he was in Alcide’s memory. Alcide tells him that he lost pack master, and that he’s been a jerk. Jackson laughs, like father like son apparently.

Sookie watches the news. The remaining Tru Blood factories have been destroyed, Newlin issued a statement to the press calling the destruction acts of terrorism. Claude, Claudette, and Claudesia appear bearing food and tell her that the vampires are behind the destruction.

Eric leads Nora to a surprise. Molly disables the cameras, and Eric drugs Nora with plans to save her. Bill arrives just as they’re about to leave. Using Nora’s blood they access the elevators, but Salome and her g man hit squad are there. Bill’s betrayed them, claiming that he’s done this for Eric, that he’s been chosen by Lilith and that this is what God wants. Eric goes into custody without a fight. I don’t care if it’s all a ploy, Bill needs to find the pointy end of a stake and soon.

True Blood Recap: Somebody That I Use To Know

Finally the episode that Stephen Moyer directed.

One of the guys that shot Luna and Sam is halled away by Andy, thanks to Sam. Sam tries to calm Luna, but she refuses to be calmed. And when he leaves, she shifts into him. Uh oh, we’ve got another skin walker on our hands, hopefully things end better for her than they did with Tommy.

The blood high continues as they return to base camp, only Eric is unaffected. Each of the vampires are tripping out in their own way. Eric asks Bill what happened, and Bill tells him that they were in the presence of God, but Eric knows better they were just high as fucking kites.

Jason stops Sookie from wasting her fairy energy.  Sookie is beyond tired of her abilities, wanting nothing more than to be normal. But Jason points out that if she didn’t have her abilities, she’d never have experienced real love with Bill, or have gotten to talk to Gran on the other side. So many positives have come from being fairy, and without her abilities she’ll never be able to uncover who killed her parents. Sookie’s lightbulb shines bright, and she listens to her brother and stops spilling her fairy all over the yard.

Dep. Kevin is confused by “Sam’s” appearance, and “Sam” makes a break for it.

A fangbanger tries to pick up Jessica, and she lets him entice her for a quick dance, and leaves with the guy.

The vampires reminisce over their Lilith encounter. Russell gushes over the draining of the bride, and all think that what they did was right, even the killing of the child. Bill finally looks like he knows right from wrong, but as Eric takes his leave, Bill does not join.

Alcide and Rikki play a little chair tag, getting all sweaty. And then they proceed to have sex on every piece of furniture in his bedroom, as Rikki tells him she’s not his girlfriend. But when he asks if she’s his girlfriend she coyly says maybe. I know Eric put the whammy on him and all, but seriously, Alcide what are you thinking?

Bill comes to Salome’s chamber and there’s a lovely unwilling brunette morsel waiting. He tries to turn her down, and Salome tries to bully him into feeding on her.  He still refuses, he’s fathered children, and cannot take one away. Salome asks why doesn’t he change his children and keep them with him forever. Cue the Bill flashback. Bill’s daughter is on her death bed, and he goes to her. At first she thinks he’s an angel, but he shatters that illusion, and then begs for immortality, but he cannot give it to her. Salome continues spouting her twisted dogma, telling Bill he’s refusing God’s gift, and Bill goes in for the kill as Salome prays.

Hoyt and his redneck pack surprise Hoyt with a present, Jessica all wrapped up in silver chains. The guys want Hoyt to stake her for all the pain she’s caused him, but Hoyt doesn’t look like he’s exactly enjoying the display, though he tries to play it up that he’s still into what they’re putting down. The guys urge Hoyt on, telling him its good for him, and they lock the door, leaving him alone with Jessica.

Claude asks if Sookie is sure she wants to go down the path she’s asking for. They aren’t sure if they want to assist, and Sookie gets a little too loud about vampires. Claude though has his reservations, agrees to help.

Lafayette drives away from Uncle Crazy’s house, and he finds Jesus’ first aid kit and badge hidden above his visor. He uses some V to pretty up his face, and look who’s sitting shotgun, but the man himself, Jesus. Lafayette asks if he’s real, and Jesus tells him it doesn’t matter. They hold hands as Lafayette drives off.

Andy questions the suspect. He tells him that he’s shooting freaks to save America. Andy isn’t happy with how little is being said, and Sam offers to use some techniques to make the guy talk. Andy leaves. Sam strips down and turns into a snake. “Sam” comes in and Andy is more than a little confused. He unites Sam and “Sam.” “Sam” is worried she’s gonna die, since she can’t shift back. They learn that the guy who shot them has Jessica.

Claude and his fairy sisters take Sookie and Jason out to where their parents died, hoping to use a little fairy magic to amplify Sookie’s own and figure out who killed their parents. In theory Claude and Claudine tell Sookie that she’ll be able to step into the past, and see everything. It works, and Sookie experiences that night on the bridge where her parents died. First she sees everything from her mother’s eyes, until her mother’s death, when she begins seeing things from the vampire’s eyes and is blasted by Claudine in the past, knocking her out.

Jessica begs for her life, and Hoyt tells her all the ways that she hurt him. He asks why she didn’t love him more. Jessica tells him that she never wanted to break his heart. He holds the gun to her head.  He shoots the gun, and one of the guys comes to open the door. A free Jessica kills him, but she can’t leave, its daylight. Hoyt promises to bring help, but when she says thank you, he tells her to fuck off.

Arlene and Holly come to Lafayette for help. Arlene thinks that Terry is either off his meds, or he’s cursed. Lafayette tells her he’s off his meds, but Arlene presses. She asks him to just say what Terry needs to hear and help him. Lafayette agrees for a price.

Andy comes with Sam and “Sam” to save Jessica. “Sam” picks up the scent of a woman, but Jessica hasn’t seen any women and then there’s the cramping.

Sookie recaps for Claude what she saw, and felt. She tells him first she was her mother, then the vampire. Claude freaks out a bit, fairies can’t control vampires, and he claims that the Elders will be furious. Jason doesn’t care about the Elders, more worried about the vampire that killed his parents. Sookie suddenly remembers that Claudine called the vampire Warlow, which though Claude claims to not know the name, it clearly looks like he does.

Tara encounters an old high school “friend,” who’s just as pleasant and racist as she’s always been. Pam is forced to intervene when the girl gets mouthy with Tara, though Tara matched her quip for quip. Pam buys her drink, and the girl leaves.

It’s fight time for JD and Alcide. It’s a hunt for the pack, and today they’re hunting a university trackstar. The lucky guy will get a 2 minute head start. Alcide refuses to hunt the kid, causing a forfeit. But JD says he’s still gonna hunt the boy to cement the win. Alcide tries to stop JD, and a V’d up JD throws him down, chasing after the boy. Alcide wolfs out and runs after him.

Eric comes to his sister. In all the 600 years he’s known and loved her, she’s never believed in this. He tries to get her to see the light, that Salome put her on this crazy path. Eric tells Nora that Lilith doesn’t exist, and that what she’s doing sickens him, sickens Godric. Nora tells him that Godric was weak at the end, and she forsakes their maker. Eric pins her down by the throat, but he releases her, and she leaves him, telling him that Lilith will show him the way.

Sam holds “Sam” and Luna thinks she’s dying. She apologizes, and he does too.  When Sam kisses “Sam” on his forehead, she finally turns back, and tosses her cookies.

Pam tells Tara that she wants to talk. Pam takes Tara down to the basement, and at first Tara doesn’t understand when she sees her old mouthy high school friend chained up. Pam tells her “My mad face and my happy face are the same,” and she mind fucks the friend into being Tara’s blood whore.

JD catches up to the high school track star, and Alcide catches up to them both before JD can kill the kid. JD beats down Alcide,  and Martha stops JD before he can kill Alcide. She tells him that he’s better than this, or that he use to be, and Rikki begs for Alcides life. JD drops the rock, and tells Alcide to get a new pack.

Terry and Patrick come running home when Arlene tells him that there’s a fire, only to find no fire at all. Arlene and Holly tell them that they have a plan. Lafayette is going to contact the Iraqi woman and ask her to call off the Ifrit. Patrick is skeptical, but Terry vouches for Lafayette’s medium abilities. Lafayette goes through the motions to give them a good show, until the woman’s spirit comes for real. The spirit is pissed, but she says that she’ll lift the curse if…and then she jumps into Lafayette’s body scaring the crap out of Terry and Patrick when Lafayette yells at them in Arabic. Lafayette, back to himself, tells them that Terry has to kill Patrick or Patrick has to kill Terry, only one of them can survive. Patrick smartly makes a run for it.

Hoyt looks lost, and is happy to see a car, until the drive pulls a gun on him.

Sookie is visited by a misty vampire, that tells her he’s coming for her.

Salome meets with the rest of the Authority council. Russell and Rev Newlin flirt rather than work. They try to plot their next move to forward with their Sanguinista movement, all while Eric watches. Bill makes a whammy of a suggestion, they should bomb True Blood factories, which would basically end the mainstreaming movement.  Eric wonders what Bill’s just done, but Bill shrugs telling him he’s evolving. Looks like someone else has been whammied by Salome.
