Nerd HQ 2013
For the last three years, when we attended the San Diego Comic Con, The Nerd Machine also held their annual Nerd HQ. Since the first year Nerd HQ started, we have been entertained with the various Conversations for a Cause benefitting Operation Smile, a charity that Zachary Levi holds close to his heart. We remember Zac from his hit TV show Chuck and as the voice of Flynn in the animated film Tangled. Most recently, Zac took on the role of Fandral in the upcoming Thor film sequel, Thor: The Dark World. I'm definitely excited to watch this!
This year, Nerd HQ 2013 was held at Petco Park in San Diego, home of the baseball team, the San Diego Padres.
About Nerd HQ
Over the last three years, Nerd HQ has continually expanded and given fans a unique experience while in San Diego for the international comic book and entertainment festival. This year Nerd HQ will again provide fans with a home base where they can experience cutting edge technology and gaming showcases, exciting autograph signings, cornerstone events and exclusive parties, including Zachary Levi's annual NERD Party.The popular panel series, Conversations for a Cause, which streamed through The Nerd Machine's YouTube channel, NerdMachineTV, returned with a variety of returning and new panels for a fun and exciting fan experience. These Conversations for a Cause allows fans an intimate gathering with celebrities from various TV shows and films. And, yes, we have been to a few of these panels each year, and it definitely is an amazing experience.
Last year's panels raised $140,000 for Operation Smile and consisted of some of the most talked about films, television shows and video games, including: Chuck, Doctor Who, Grimm, NTSF, Robot Chicken, The Man with the Iron Fist, Expendables 2, Tomb Raider and Twilight. Panelists included many of today's top actors, actresses and film and game makers including Ashley Greene, Guillermo del Toro, Jason Ritter, Jared Padalecki, Joss Whedon, Kellan Lutz, Lucy Liu, Nathan Fillion, RZA, Seth Green, Stan Lee, Terry Crews, and Zachary Levi, among many others.
This year's panels were just as amazing! These Conversations for a Cause are so popular that tickets sell out just as fast as it gets posted on the site! Yes! It's that crazy popular, especially Zachary Levi's panel. Not only did we get a variety of new panels, several returning panels doesn't cease to be in demand, such as panels for Nathan Fillion, Joss Whedon and Jared Padalecki and more! In addition to this Jared Padalecki panel this year, Jensen Ackles was also a panelist! Yes! Supernatural fans, our Winchester brothers, Jared and Jensen was at Nerd HQ! But, to my dismay, this was a sold out panel... <sigh> I so wanted go to this panel. There's always next year...haha!
But, do not fret Nerds! Although attending all these awesome panels was not possible, we can still watch it on the NerdMachineTV YouTube channel! Yay!

This year, we did attend a couple of panels: The Maze Runner and I, Frankenstein, which were so much fun!

We were also treated with surprise footage from The Maze Runner, which was total amazing! Yes, Wes Ball put together some raw footage just for us at Nerd HQ, to watch. After watching this footage, I am very excited to watch this film on the big screen....it looked amazing!

The following day, we attended our second panel at Nerd HQ with the cast & creators of I, Frankenstein. Of course, the husband was excited since he's a big fan of Yvonne Strahovski...haha!!! Nevertheless, it was just an amazing experience to be able to sit with the cast and creators talk about the makings behind the I, Frankenstein movie. Panelists included: Aaron Eckhart, Kevin Grevioux, Stuart Beattie and Yvonne Strahovski.

Although it was a brief panel, it was well worth the time to sit with these talents and get some behind the makings comments regarding this exciting upcoming film, I, Frankenstein. I am definitely excited to see the first trailer to this fascinating take on the Frankenstein classic.
