Host selection is always a crucial part of each Melodifestivalen. The responsibility of the person(s) that helm the show from start to finish for a duration of up to six weeks in total is truly significant. This year, three hosts were selected with each offering a different background to strengthen the quality of the Melodifestivalen shows. David Lindgren is a three-time Melodifestivalen finalist who not only serves strong singing and dancing capabilities, his experience as both a musical theatre star and television host make him a prime candidate to be the captain of this ship. Clara Henry is an internet-star on YouTube that has crossed over into television gigs, having previously hired to host the Melodifestivalen after-show. Then there's Hasse Andersson, a long-time veteran of Swedish dansband music, who became a multi-generational favourite in Melodifestivalen 2015.

When asked why they agreed to co-host Melodifestivalen 2017, it's evident they're all enthusiastic about the job. "I love Melodifestivalen and I've dreamt about hosting it, I think it's awesome" says Lindgren. "Same for me," adds Henry. "I've been wanting to do this since I was a child. I love the whole concept that it's such a big party for everybody and everybody loves it." Andersson echoes these sentiments. "I accepted it because it's one of the biggest things you can do in Sweden when you work with entertainment. It's like you say, a feather in the hat, if you have made it in Melodifestivalen then you're on top."
