Witches of East End Season 1 DVD Review and Giveaway

Smart, Sassy and Sexy, all witches should be this hot. Based on the books by Melissa de la Cruz, they follow the feisty women of the Beauchamp family. Mother Joanna (Julia Ormond), a powerful witch in hiding, desperate to protect her daughters from her curse and their impending deaths is forced to reveal the family legacy when her estranged sister Wendy (Mädchen Amick) arrives with a dire warning. Daughters Freya (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) and Ingrid (Rachel Boston) are utterly clueless to the power that resides inside of them until events surrounding them convince them otherwise. And there's also Aunt Wendy, the free spirit who happens to spend some of her time as a cat.

Freya dreams nightly of a man who ignites a fire within her, which is a huge problem when she meets him in the flesh and he happens to be her soon to be brother in law, Killian (Daniel Di Tomasso). The man she loves, Dash’s (Eric Winter) family seems to have just as many secrets as her own. Ingrid is the skeptical one who quickly has a change in her tune when she casts a fertility spell and it actually works. It opens a whole new world for her, and allows her a way to connect after tragedy.

In the midst of it all, people are being murdered and all signs point to Joanna, who is definitely not the guilty party. Old flames and previous lives threaten to ruin their current lives, and puts them in danger at every turn.

Witches of East End is like a darker Charmed, and have I mentioned that the cast is smoking hot? Well it is. And not only did they have some great guest stars (Neil Hopkins, Matt Frewer, Freddie Prinze Jr., Joel Gretsch, Kaitlin Doubleday, Matthew Del Negro) there were also some rocking recurring stars: Virginia Madsen, Jason George, Tiya Sircar, Enver Gjokaj, Tom Lenk, Gillian Barber, Kellee Stewart, and my personal favourite Anthony Lemke. It will definitely cast its spell on you. Sorry I couldn't resist.

For DVD extras, really there aren’t many. A featurette: Falling Under Their Spell, deleted scenes, gag reel and cat blooper.

The first season just hit dvd, which is perfect timing if you haven’t seen it yet, since the second season starts on July 6th on Lifetime, and the heat is sure to get turned way up.
