Sons of Anarchy Season 5 Blu Ray Review

Sons of Anarchy is set to kick off its 6th season tomorrow, September 10th, and that gives us just enough time to review season 5!

The problems of season 4 seep into season 5. The once strong SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle, Redwood Original) is rife with lies, and betrayal, as well as outside lethal and legal issues all threatening to rip them apart. Clay's (Ron Perlman) lies and greed have put SAMCRO in a tough position. The CIA is holding a RICO charge over the club, a powerful drug kingpin is out for blood, and Jax (Charlie Hunnam) may have taken the club presidency from his stepfather Clay, but the club may not survive his reign. With his wife in prison, the weight on Jax's shoulders grows as does his loneliness. He has no one to turn to anymore for guidance. He's responsible for himself, his children and the club, and the decisions he makes will affect the future and perhaps the survival of all of them.

This season there is plenty of violence and death, a few scene stealing moments and some fantastic additions to the cast. The beautiful Colette Jane (Kim Dickens) is introduced and she forms an immediate connectin with Jax. Another great addition is  Nero (Jimmy Smits); a sleazy, charming, whip-smart pimp whose affair with Gemma (Katey Sagal) pulls him deeper into a mess she may not be able to recover from.

Like all of the previous seasons, the acting is above and beyond expectations. From Hunnam to Perlman to Sagal and Smits, they so perfectly embody their characters.  Writer, Kurt Sutter, masterfully spins a web that is both unexpected and addictive.  There is no question, though, that you keep watching because you just have to know what happens next. Season 5 of Sons of Anarchy ends in familiar fashion: With familial manipulation and moral strife shattering the scales many fought to balance this season.
