NYCC: Marvel's Daredevil Brings New Characters and Teases for Season 3

With the "Daredevil" season 3 premiere coming up fast (October 19), Netflix sent the cast and crew to Madison Square Garden to put on a panel for New York Comic Con attendees. From familiar faces Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock), Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), and new additions Jay Ali (Agent Rahul "Ray" Nadeem), Joanne Whalley (Sister Maggie), and Wilson Bethel (Agent Benjamin "Sex" Poindexter), there are many excellent performances to look forward to, the most latter of which received an extra tease in a brand new trailer:

Yes, that's right! Your eyes aren't fooling you. As confirmed by the panelists, season 3 will introduce the iconic villain Bullseye (last seen in live-action portrayed by Colin Farrell). This time, actor Wilson Bethel will be taking on the role and in order to get into the Comic Con spirit, he emerged with a crudely drawn on bullseye in the centre of his forehead.

The return of Wilson Fisk as a more prominent figure will also prove highly dynamic, since he spent season 2 mostly locked up in prison while other characters maintained a larger presence in the ongoing stories.

With 4000 fans in attendance at the panel, and even more tuning in worldwide via social media posts and other updates, the anticipation for this latest season is downright palpable.

Season 3 begins with Matt Murdock having been missing for months since his supposed death in the season finale of the crossover series "The Defenders". When he finally does return to the public, or at least to those he was once close to, his spirit is very much broken from his accumulated traumas. The catalyst towards Matt deciding whether to return to heroism is the release of Wilson Fisk from prison. There is no doubt that Fisk poses a danger to the well-being of those who reside in Hell's Kitchen, and it is up to Matt to stop him.

The Defenders S01E08 "The Defenders" Recap

The members of the Defenders up top at Midland Circle must prepare themselves to head downstairs to stop the Hand from harvesting the dragon skeleton for more of the substance that will allow them to continue their immortal destruction. Down underneath the building, Danny learns from Gao that dragons are the key to the power, just as his own magical abilities came from a dragon. The Hand are now beginning their work to harvest the skeleton but they must be stopped because if they are successful, the entire city's foundations will be weakened and trigger more destruction similar to the earthquake at the beginning of the series.

While Matt, Jessica, and Luke head down the elevator towards the Hand, Colleen and Claire must set up the stash of explosives to destroy the building first. Colleen is forced to fight Bakuto when Misty calls Claire to tell them they're all in way over the heads and need to stop what they're doing and clear the building. She overhears the fight between Colleen and Claire and breaks into the building herself. She joins in on the fight to help Colleen and Claire but Bakuto cuts Misty's arm off in the confrontation. Then, Colleen is able to finally kill Bakuto but in the process he falls onto the timer and sets it going to detonate the explosives. Only ten minutes remain for everyone to evacuate the building and the Defenders are still down beneath the building fighting the Hand.

With his enhanced abilities, Matt is able to realise that the explosives will go off soon and sends everyone off to evacuate to safety. Matt stays behind to fight Elektra and try to bring her back to who she once was. The rest of the group encounters a problem when some officers try to arrest them while they're evacuating but Luke is able to block anyone from being hurt due to his virtual indestructibility.

Matt continues to battle Elektra, trying to get her to come back to him. She is relentless in fighting him but begins to admit that she still has feelings for him. All the while, Gao and Murakami are shown to still be in down beneath the building as well. Murakami is gravely wounded but Gao appears to have deliberately chosen to stay behind so we don't rule out the possibility of her surviving into future Marvel-Netflix series.

The explosives detonate and Elektra apologises to Matt for any pain she may have caused him. The two share a kiss as the building begins to collapse and trap them down beneath the dragon skeleton.

The mayor's office issues a statement claiming unpermitted construction around the Midland Circle building is to blame for the recent problems. The cover-up appears to work, and Jessica, Luke, and Danny begin to pick up the pieces of their lives. They will each aim to help and protect the city as best as they can, all the while mourning the loss of Matt.

But true to Hollywood form, the final reveal comes at the episode's end when an injured but still very much alive is shown to be waking up in the bed of a convent with a nun tending to his wounds.

The Defenders is available for streaming on Netflix.

The Defenders S01E07 "Fish in the Jailhouse" Recap

In a flashback, we see Elektra reporting back to Stick of her failure to recruit Matt into joining the Chaste. Matt has darkness in him but ultimately, he wants to rise above those impulses. Stick is critical of Elektra for falling in love with Matt and allowing him to change who she is. Stick sees her love for Matt as evidence of her weakness. In the present, Stick lies dead by Elektra's hand and Matt, Jessica, and Luke are still unconscious after fighting her. Later, they all wake in the police station, having been brought in as suspects for both Sowande and Stick's murders. Misty is questioning them and they tell her a bit about the Hand but refuse to give too many details out of concern for her safety. Matt meets Foggy, who is still at the station to stay in protective custody, and informs him of Elektra's resurrection and Danny's kidnapping.

The fingers of the Hand must now adjust to Elektra taking claim of the group. They are concerned and skeptical of her ability to fulfill all of the work that Alexandra took on as leader, such as cultivating and maintaining relationships with crime lords and corporate groups but for the time being, they decide to let her lead in the hopes that she will be able to get them access to more of the substance needed to sustain their lives.

Matt, Jessica, and Luke are able to escape from the police station to go after Elektra and try to stop the Hand. They head to Midland Circle, with Matt fully done up in his suit. Elektra has brought Danny down to the hole beneath the building. There is a mystical door that he must open but he strongly objects to doing so. Back upstairs, Matt, Jessica, and Luke are confronted by Gao, Bakuto, and Murakami, who have been tasked with stopping them from interfering with their plans, while Elektra and Danny are fighting beneath the building.

Colleen arrives at Midland Circle to help the Defenders in their fight, also having brought along the mass supply of explosives that John Raymond had been gathering to try to stop the Hand. They're able to work together to overpower Gao, Bakuto, and Murakami. Claire is also there to help Colleen's efforts, having arrived with Misty who must stall the other law enforcement that are showing up intent on reclaiming their murder-suspects.

Claire is concerned about the plan to set off such a large supply of explosives but eventually gives in, seeing there is no other better option available. Down below the building, Elektra is able to trick Danny into opening the mystical door, which sets off a large blast that causes a city-wide power outage. When Danny wakes, he finds that he is lying beneath the ribcage of a dragon skeleton.

The Defenders is available for streaming on Netflix.

The Defenders S01E06 "Ashes, Ashes" Recap

Following the revelation that the Hand wants to use the Iron First as a key to unlock something to give them more power, the rest of the Defenders (plus Stick) decide they need to keep Danny hidden from them while the fight carries on. Danny strongly objects to this idea and a fight breaks out in the group. But Danny is overpowered and tied up so he can be kept safe from the Hand's efforts to get him. Matt is also forced to admit the truth about the extent of his relationship with Elektra.

Elektra is slowly beginning to regain her memories from her former life but Alexandra tries to further manipulate her into only being the Black Sky and claims that Elektra is not the person she once was. The Hand learns of Sowande's death when his head is posted to them. The other members are skeptical that Alexandra still has what it takes to lead them the way that they need her to. Alexandra tells her their task is to find more of the substance that the Hand have used to stay alive over the centuries; the last of it was used to resurrect Elektra. Without it, both of them will die.

Luke is tasked with monitoring Danny, who plans to recharge his glowing hand to be able to break free of his restraints, and Stick also remains behind. Jessica and Matt connote their investigation into Raymond and go to visit his family once more. Matt decides to play the family piano and discovers something hidden inside. The document indicates that there is something hidden beneath Midland Circle and Matt recalls previously coming across a large hole. Matt and Jessica head back to the building with the intent to regather the group to infiltrate the building once again but they must rush inside because Stick has used a chemical concoction to knock Luke out so he can try to murder Danny to prevent the Hand from being able to use him as a tool for their plan. But Elektra gets there first and begins fighting Stick.

Matt tries to stop Elektra but she still kills Stick and knocks Matt out. Jessica and Luke try to join in to stop her but she overpowers them both. With the other three Defenders knocked unconscious, she cuts off Danny's restraints and kidnaps him to bring back to the Hand.

Murakami treats Alexandra to a nice meal, intending for her to have one last meal of luxury before he kills her to overthrow her poor leadership. This is all part of a larger conspiracy with the other remaining fingers of the Hand. Elektra arrives with Danny in captivity so Murakami changes his mind about trying to kill Alexandra. Danny has awakened from his unconscious states and Alexandra claims that K'un-Lun can be restored with his help. Danny is wheeled away and Alexandra orders Elektra to kill Matt, Jessica, and Luke and Elektra seemingly walks away. Alexandra proceeds to gloat about how she was right to put priority on the Black Sky and that her entire plan worked but Elektra then kills Elektra, who reclaims her former identity and announces that she is now in charge of the Hand.

The Defenders is available for streaming on Netflix.

The Defenders S01E05 "Take Shelter" Recap

The Defenders must fight together, along with Stick, against the agents of the Hand that are descending on the restaurant. Alexandra slips out before the bulk of the fight can begin, while Elektra must stay behind and fight too. Matt is quick to grab her and pull her aside, saying he wants to talk to her. He won't attack her but does fend off her blows as best as he can against such a skilled fighter. They slip outside where Matt implores her to remember who she was, saying that he held her in his arms as she died. When he calls her by her name, Elektra, she stops attacking him and appears to be confused in having some memories return. The moment is interrupted when Murakami comes outside and asks what she is doing. Murakami tries to attack Matt but Elektra stops him from doing so, knocking him out, and then she escapes into the night.

Agents of the Hand try to kidnap Danny but Jessica and Stick stop them. Luke gets into a confrontation with Sowande and ends up hit by a truck, though he's presumably unscathed from the hit. Jessica, Stick, and Danny get out back and meet a still-shaken Matt. Together, they all escape into a sewer tunnel and head back to their hide-out. Luke arrives after them, having brought a long Sowande, whom he kidnapped. When Sowande is questioned, he warns that all the loved ones of the Defenders are in danger, so each of them sends the people most important to them to the police station to be watched by Misty Knight. Those present include Claire, Trish, Foggy, Karen, and Colleen. But before Colleen goes to the station, she is confronted by a resurrected Bakuto, who was formerly her mentor. He tries to recruit her to formally join the Hand, which had been what she was raised for before leaving in order to be with Danny. The Defenders, plus Claire, all arrive in time to stop Bakuto and rescue an injured Colleen.

Matt finally decides to reclaim his Daredevil identity and dons the suit once more, just in time to help Jessica fight off another attack from the Hand. The other leaders in the Hand are concerned by this particularly as Elektra had knocked Murakami off his feet when he was going to attack Matt. Murakami is skeptical of whether Alexandra is right to put so much faith in Elektra and to be so reliant on her to fulfill their goals. He reminds them all that the Hand used the last of their resources on resurrecting Elektra and thus they are all susceptible to death. Murakami consults with the other Hand leaders and proposes they put a new plan together without her.

Sowande tries to escape but Stick stops him by way of decaptiation.

Alexandra goes to Elektra's room to check on her but Elektra has gone out into the city. She returns to the roof where she was killed and further retraces her steps by going to Matt's apartment and lying in his bed, where she had been before when injured and recovering.

The Defenders is available for streaming on Netflix.

The Defenders S01E04 "Royal Dragon" Recap

The Defenders have made their getaway and take refuge in a nearby Chinese restaurant. They're still getting adjusted to getting introduced to one another. Matt initially wants to keep Jessica's scarf tied around his head to maintain some anonymity, while Danny uses his black card to pay off the restaurant owner's rent for the next six months and order some food in order to keep them appeased. Danny wants them all to team up but Matt is already reluctant about returning to vigilantism, let alone teaming up with others. Jessica gives him her own unique brand of a pep-talk, and Matt finally relents by removing his mask and introducing himself to the others.

Elektra is shown to be confused about her existential purpose, and Alexandra is more than happy to fill her head with all kinds of rhetoric about being the Black Sky and being a weapon. The other members of the Hand are skeptical of Elektra and whether she is truly loyal to them, or whether her connection to Matt will pose a problem. Alexandra's health continues to decline.

The Defenders are discussing whether or not they will team up together, with Matt being particularly reluctant to join the team. Their meeting is interrupted by the arrival of Stick, who is fresh off his escape from the Hand. Stick informs them that the elders of K'un-Lun had come together a long time ago in order to study the healing powers of qi and five of them had hoped to use that power to gain immortality. These elders were cast out for this, and thus became the five fingers of the Hand. Alexandra is the main leader of the Hand, and the other members include Madame Gao, Sowande (the one that has been recruiting young people in Harlem, Murakami, and Bakuto who was recently killed. All the information proves too overwhelming for Jessica, who excuses herself from the meeting to continue her investigation alone, despite Luke's personal plea for her to stay with them.

Jessica goes to check on the widow of John Raymond and is alarmed to learn that a man had come to her house to claim he was there to be protective police service but didn't ever identify himself with a badge. Jessica fights him, realizing he's an agent of the Hand.

The rest of the Defenders remain at the restaurant and Stick and Matt discuss Elektra's resurrection in private. Matt is certain he can reach her, due to her hesitation to kill him at Midland Circle but Stick is insistent that at some point, Elektra will have to die again and is no longer the woman he trained and Matt loved. The conversation is short-lived as Alexandra arrives at the restaurant. She offers to spare New York from destruction if Danny will leave with her, as the Iron Fist is a necessary part of the larger plan the Hand has. Danny refuses to do so, and then Elektra arrives prepared to fight the group. But before the fight can begin, Jessica crashes into the restaurant with a car. Jessica is now prepared to fight Elektra with the other Defenders (plus Stick).

The Defenders is available for streaming on Netflix.

The Defenders S01E03 "Worst Behavior" Recap

Some months ago, Alexandra is informed that agents of the Hand have acquired the Black Sky. This is an ancient weapon prophesised to be something that will help them in their quest for power. The Black Sky is Elektra's deceased body. The Hand is running low on resources and must use the last of what they have to gather what's necessary to perform a ritual that will resurrect her. When Elektra rises, she appears to have no memory of who she once was and must regain her faculties. She still has strength and fighting skills but being resurrected means relearning and adjusting to being alive. Alexandra is with Elektra every step of the way to teach her to be the weapon that the Hand can use against those that would try to stop them. Elektra helps Alexandra to interrogate Stick, who is amazed to learn of her resurrection. However, Stick gets his own hand cut off so he can make his escape.

Matt makes his best attempts to help Jessica as her legal representation but she is dismissive of his taking her case. However, he picks up on hints that there is more to her case than he first realised and begins to investigate it himself by following her. Jessica goes to visit the once-missing-but-now-dead man John's wife, having now agreed to fully take on the case of investigating what he was getting into. Afterwards, she realises that Matt is following her so she slips him and begins to follow him instead. She follows his down an alleyway where she sees him do some parkour and even photographs him.

Luke expresses his guilt to Claire about not being able to save Cole, who has now been arrested. He also shares about the confrontation with a skinny white kid with a glowing hand, leading Claire to realise it's Danny that had fought him. She calls Danny and Colleen and sets up a meeting for Luke and Danny to be introduced. Things remain tense between the two, as Luke can't relate to Danny's tone-deaf privilege and his inability to utilise the resources at his disposal to more effectively fight the causes he claims to be in favour of. Luke storms out and goes to visit Cole in jail. Afterwards he visits Cole's mother to check in on her but things take a dark turn when she gets a call that Cole died in jail, presumably by the Hand.

Danny takes inspiration from what Luke said about his privilege so he uses his corporate connections to find the location of the Hand's new business front, a company called Midland Circle. Jessica arrives there from having followed her own leads and Matt follows her there too. Luke also arrives to help Danny, who has crashed a large meeting of the higher-ups of the Hand. A fight breaks out between the Defenders and the Hand and after some time, Elektra emerges and begins fighting Matt though it takes him some time to realise who it is that he's fighting. The Defenders all escape together after Danny punches Elektra through a wall with his magical glowing hand.

The Defenders is available for streaming on Netflix.

The Defenders S01E02 "Mean Right Hook" Recap

Following the earthquake, Matt overhears some crime underway and impulsively parkours his way to the location and disarms a criminal of his gun, despite still only wearing his business suit and no mask to hide his face.

When Trish Walker goes into her job, she must handle many callers expressing concern about the earthquake. She tries to reassure them as best as she can but is shocked when a geologist calls in to say that whatever happened was not a natural earthquake. The call gets cut off early when Trish's employee says they ordered to end the talk of earthquakes by the higher-ups in their company.

Misty Knight and other police officers are called in to the scene by Jessica Jones, regarding the large number of explosive devices found in the room rented by John, the missing man Jessica was hired to find. Misty tries to stop Jessica from leaving with some evidence but Jessica is too quick to be caught at that time.

Alexandra meets with Madame Gao and learns that there is a mystical wall blocking their plans. Alexandra surmises that the wall must serve as a door of some sorts and that every locked door must have a hidden key, but finding such a key would require tracking down an old enemy first.

The other Defenders are still working hard on their investigations. Jessica is following the leads she absconded with about John's disappearance but Jeri Hogarth warns her to stop this search. Jeri later tells Foggy, who now works for her, to keep whatever inevitable fallout will come from Jessica's pursuits away from the firm. Foggy also meets Matt for drinks, as the two begin to mend their personal relationship, even though they won't be working together professionally. Matt appears to be at a crossroads once again about returning to vigilantism. Luke Cage is following some leads on the disappearance of local kids in Harlem which leads him to a workshop where one kid has been sent with others to clean up a massive amount of dead bodies that the Hand murdered. Danny and Colleen are also there, having ended up there through their own investigation.

Jessica arrives back at her apartment and finds the missing man, John Raymond, already there and waiting for her and holding Malcolm hostage. He wants Jessica to stop following him, as he is intent on staying hidden.

Danny and Colleen begin attacking the workers cleaning up the crime scene, demanding to know if they are working with the Hand but Luke pulls Danny off a teenager, Cole. Luke is easily able to overpower Danny and is unphased by Danny's attempts to beat him until he uses magic to do so. Only then is Danny able to throw a punch that sends Luke flying into a wall. The conflict can't unfold any further, as Luke, Danny, and Colleen all make their respective escapes when the police arrive. Luke is disappointed that Cole is arrested, having been unable to help him.

Meanwhile, the stand-off between Jessica and John is cut short. John was frightened that 'they' (the Hand) will not only come after him but his family too. John says the explosives were to stop them from taking down the city but John is too frightened to tell Jessica anything more. Elektra arrives in order to kill John but he shoots himself first, refusing to let her be the one to kill him. Elektra met her escape and Jessica chases after her but when she gets outside, Elektra has disappeared and Misty has arrived. Misty arrests her and brings her in for questioning.

Alexandra is revealed to have kidnapped Stick, determined to torture answers out of him to help the Hand carry out their plans.

Jessica's interrogation by Misty is short-lived when Matt arrives and announces himself as Jessica's lawyer. Foggy had contacted Matt to help cover some of his extra work, including keeping Jessica out of trouble.

The Defenders is available for streaming on Netflix.

The Defenders S01E01 "The H Word" Recap

In Cambodia, a resurrected Elektra is fighting alongside agents of the Hand. Her face isn't officially revealed but all clues point to it being Elektra that lands some deliciously wicked blows against Danny Rand in battle. She gets away, of course, and Danny and Colleen Wing must pick up the pieces of their investigation into the Hand. Their lead was killed in battle but before he dies, informs them that the fight they are involved in is going on in New York City.

Each of the other Defenders is at a new turning point in life. Matt Murdock is no longer doing his Daredevil vigilantism and is focusing only on his work as a pro bono lawyer. The trauma of losing Elektra in battle has weighed heavily on his conscience. He doesn't work with Foggy or Karen anymore, either. Jessica Jones is now known to the city for her heroism in defeating Kilgrave and despite Trish's pushing, Jessica is still reluctant to take on any sort of superhero role. Luke Cage has had his name cleared by Foggy, who is now working for Jeri Hogarth's firm. Just as soon as he is released from prison, he goes to see Claire Temple, with whom he had been corresponding during his imprisonment. The two consummate their relationship.

Viewers are also introduced to the enigmatic Alexandra, leader of the Hand, who appears to be suffering from some health issues.

Jessica meets Michelle Raymond and her daughter Lexi when the two are waiting for her at her office/apartment. Michelle's husband John is missing. He works as an architect and though Jessica is dismissive of the woman's pleas, she eventually decides to take the case after they leave when she receives a call from a mysterious, anonymous caller that warns her not to look for John. Jessica later discovers a massive stash of explosives that John had stockpiled for some unknown purpose.

Misty visits Luke and informs him that some local Harlem young-adults have been getting into trouble with a mysterious business and eventually end up dead. These youths are all seemingly at a crossroads and get swept up in the wrong direction and Misty urges Luke to use his influence over the nieghbourhood to try to save more from falling into this same trap.

Alexandra is informed that all of her major organs are failing. She is dying with little time left so she commands her colleagues in the Hand to speed up their plans. Shortly afterward, a massive earthquake surges through New York City that all of the Defenders feel, including Danny who has arrived back in New York with Colleen. Alexandra watches from the rooftop of a building with the resurrected Elektra.

Marvel's The Defenders is available for streaming on Netflix.

First full Image of the Red Daredevil Costume

Daredevil dropped on Netflix this past friday, and many have been binge watching the heck out of it. I'm not among those, yet, but I know that its dark, super-gritty and getting rave reviews.

I wasn't all too impressed with the black suit from the trailers, but today we get our first official look at the red costume, and that is a whole different story. Looking more like the suit that most of us know and love, does this make you more excited for the series if you haven't seen it yet? Take a look below!

Marvel's Daredevil S1E13 (S1 Finale) - "Daredevil" Recap

Matt and Karen attend Urich's funeral. Karen tries to apologise to Mrs. Urich, blaming herself for Ben getting killed, but she is firmly of the belief that Ben never got pushed into doing anything he didn't want to do. Matt also blames himself for Urich's death since he hasn't stopped what Fisk is doing to the city, but the priest tells him he is not to blame. Karen and Matt return to the office, where Karen expresses frustration that Foggy didn't come to Urich's funeral, having had something else to do.

Fisk asks Leland to look at some irregularities with his accounts and Leland claims it's something he does to keep funds off their back. Leland is forced to admit stealing from Fisk due to his hands shaking and forehead sweating. He insists he had nothing to do with Welsey's death but admits that he and Gao conspired against Vanessa was making Fisk distracted and erratic. Leland says he'll be leaving and taking half of Fisk's assets with him because he's taken Detective Hoffman and hidden him away. If Leland doesn't check in every 24 hours, Hoffman will be dropped off to the Feds to share all of what he has done under Fisk's orders. Fisk flies into a rage and throws Leland down an elevator shaft. He then orders his men to sweep the city and kill Hoffman.

Foggy tracks Matt down at the gym where Matt trains alone. He tells Foggy that he tried to go visit Ellison but wasn't able to reach him so he'll try again tomorrow to question him about whether he was involved with Fisk. Foggy tells Matt that the reason he didn't go to the funeral was that he got a call from Marci, who has been secretly copying files related to Fisk from Landman and Zack. Matt is upset because he doesn't Foggy to end up another of Fisk's victims. Foggy doesn't want Matt to go after him either and end up dead. Foggy is ready to reconcile with Matt. Things might not be able to go back to how they were, but they can find a way to move forward.

Matt and Foggy pay a visit to the station to talk to Stahl, where Matt overhears a conversation about Hoffman still being alive and that all the dirty cops are on the look-out for him. Back at the office, they go through the files Marci sent them. They find an indiscretion in the listings so Matt goes to follow up on that least as the masked vigilante, feeling that this may be where Hoffman is hidden. Matt arrives just in time to take out all the cops that are on scene trying to kill Hoffman. Matt pressures Hoffman into going back in to testify against Fisk. This leads to federal agents arresting Fisk and everyone professionally connected to him, including his informant at the Bulletin, who was not in fact Ellison. As Fisk is being arrested, he asks Vanessa to marry him and slips an engagement ring on her finger. With Fisk's connections to dirty law enforcement, he is able to escape FBI custody.

Foggy and Karen make their escape, while Matt heads off on his own to confront Fisk. But first he goes to Melvin Potter, who has finished Matt's new suit. Matt promises to make good on his promise of taking out Fisk and in turn keeping Melvin's caretaker Betsey safe. Fisk is being transported by his men and calls Vanessa to tell her that if he doesn't reach her in 20 minutes, she needs to leave the city without him. He promises that nothing will ever keep them apart so he will find her eventually should anything goes wrong. Matt causes the truck Fisk is in to flip over and confronts him.

Fisk is furious at Matt for taking everything away from him and stopping him from fulfilling his plans of making the city better. The two have their most epic fight to date but Matt eventually bests him and turns Fisk over to Sgt. Stahl, who is in awe of his new suit. Since Fisk does not make the drop point, Vanessa has no choice but to leave without him.

The media coins the name "Daredevil" for Matt's vigilante alias. Matt, Karen, and Foggy are impressed by the city's shifted attitude towards Daredevil and enjoy their new office with a proper plaque out on the front. Foggy has to head out to help Marci find a new job and the three note how Fisk will still need to be put away after his upcoming trial. Matt asks Karen about something off in her voice recently that he thought would go away once Fisk was put behind bars and she chalks it up to the fact that Elena can't be brought back and the misdeeds they had to do to get where they are. Matt says they'll all make it through together.

Fisk is shown to be behind bars and plotting his next step and Matt heads out into the night, ready to save people as Daredevil.

Marvel's Daredevil is available for viewing on Netflix and will return for season 2.

Marvel's Daredevil S1E12 - "The Ones We Leave Behind" Recap

Karen disposes of the weapons she used to kill Wesley into the bay and goes home feeling rattled by the experience. She has a nightmare of Fisk arriving in her apartment and pondering the weight of taking a person's life, as well as telling her that it gets easier the more you do it. She then heads to the office and meets Foggy, who asks about her well-being, given his previously running into her when she was drunk. He is apologetic that his falling out with Matt has bled over to her. He is still willing to help her with the Fisk investigation though. On his way out, Foggy runs into Matt but the two don't say anything. Karen's vibe is off and Matt can tell that something is wrong but she simply claims that "the world fell apart."

Vanessa wakes up at the hospital and Fisk tells her the reason for her hospitalisation as well as his intentions to have her moved out of the country. She refuses to leave without him. He is then informed by one his men that Wesley has been discovered. Upon looking over his dead body, one of the other men tells Fisk about Wesley getting a call and leaving with the man's weapon. Fisk begins to beat the man out of grief but Leland tells him that beating up men who are loyal to him may not be the best move. Fisk goes through Wesley's phone and finds that the last person he called was Fisk's mother.

Matt visits Urich as the masked vigilante to get information on some heroin. It's known as "Steel Serpent" and is the purest on the scene. Russians were in charge of distribution but with them out of the way, someone else was bound to have picked up the slack. If Matt can disrupt the heroin, which is being used to fund Fisk's schemes for Hell's Kitchen, it might be enough to throw Fisk off and make him mad. The Chinese are now in charge of distribution and Urich only knows that there's a mysterious woman in charge of it all. They realise that blind people are used to make runs because they aren't seen as suspicious.

Foggy gets in touch with his ex, Marci, to ask for her help. He shows her all of the files he has on Fisk and Marci doesn't want to get involved since Fisk is one of Landman and Zack's clients, but agrees to stay and read through them.

Karen pushes Urich to post the story on Fisk's murdering his father, as she has been growing increasingly paranoid about being discovered as Wesley's murderer. He says he'll try to push the piece to his editor tomorrow. Foggy tells her that if she agrees to help, she can be on the right side of things and get in front of Fisk's inevitable downfall, as well as take her soul back.

Fisk arranges for his mother to be moved to a facility in Italy and tries to find out what she talked to Wesley about in his last phone call but she can't remember.

Urich brings the Fisk story to his editor, Ellison, but his editor says that there isn't enough credibility to the story to print it. When Urich accuses Ellison of being paid off by Fisk, he is fired from the paper. Upon visiting his wife, Urich is convinced by her to post his story on the internet. He will create a blog on which to do so.

Matt uses Urich's information to track down the base of Gao's heroin operation, where he discovers all of the workers inside are blind. He's able to dismantle it and Gao ends up fighting Matt off long enough to escape and head back to her homeland to reflect upon the future. But before she leaves, it's revealed that she and Leland were the ones responsible for orchestrating the attack on Vanessa, believing her to be a distraction to Fisk.

Urich heads home to being writing his story. But the real informant of Fisk's from the Bulletin is there waiting for him, having learned of Urich's visiting his mother. He kills Urich before he can get his story up.

Marvel's Daredevil S1E11 - "The Path of the Righteous" Recap

Vanessa is still alive but just barely, as Fisk and his men bring her to a hospital.

Karen pays a visit to Matt to check in on him and enquire about Foggy's whereabouts. She is skeptical about his story about being hit by a car, thinking that perhaps his injuries have something to do with Fisk and Matt's visiting Vanessa. She then shares how she found a misfiled form that led her to discover that Fisk's mother is still alive and she visited him with Urich. Fisk bashed his father's head in with a hammer and she helped him cover it up. She thinks if they can get this information out it may get people to look more closely at Fisk. Matt tells her to share her findings with Foggy, who is shown to have hooked up with his ex Marci, and ignores Karen's call.

Leland Owlsley and Wesley discuss the poisoning attempt and Leland is insistent that Fisk be looked carefully at because he needs to lead, something he can't do if he's being overly emotional. Wesley tells Leland to speak with Gao again to determine if she was the one who poisoned everyone and if she wasn't, then they'll need her help.

Claire visits Matt to tend to his wounds and he agrees with Claire's earlier suggestion that he get some body armour. He notes how Fisk seemed to have body armour lined in his suit when he fought him. Claire says she'll be leaving the city for a while to take some time off. They discuss their feelings and say their goodbyes, though Matt seems sad that they can't move forward with their relationship. She tells him that all the saints/saviours/martyrs she learned about in Sunday school ended up bloody and alone.

Karen apologises to Urich for tricking him into visiting the nursing home and she implores him to print what they have learned but he's not about to do it without anything that would be considered credible or legitimate to back up what they have learned. Urich tells her about the poisonings at the gala, which Fisk has managed to keep quiet, which shows his reach extends well into the media. With Fisk having made himself public, his enemies won't want to get dragged out in the public.

Fisk has not left the hospital, and tells Wesley he needs to find who did this to Vanessa so he can get his revenge. Fisk says if Vanessa recovers, he wants her sent away to somewhere safe. He then gets the news that she will pull through. Leland later arrives to tell Wesley that Gao has agreed to stand with them if need be.

Matt interrogates Barrett into telling him the source of Fisk's body armour. It's an engineer named Melvin Potter whom Fisk coerced into creating armoured clothing for him. Matt must fight him off and then learns that Melvin is mentally slow and his caretaker Betsy is the one being threatened if Melvin doesn't cooperate. Matt asks Melvin to make him his own suit and in exchange, he will get Fisk out of Melvin's life and keep Betsy safe.

Wesley gets a call from Fisk's mother and learns of Karen and Urich's visit to her. Karen tracks Foggy down at a bar and is upset at him for not returning any of her calls and for keeping secrets along with Matt from her. They get into an argument and she calls Matt and leaves a voicemail imploring him to work things out with Foggy. She then calls Urich and thanks him for being there for her after he offers up the advice to just keep putting one foot in front of the other. After the call, she is kidnapped by Wesley who threatens her and attempts to blackmail her into convincing everyone that Fisk is the way. He threatens to kill everyone she cares about to make her comply. When Fisk calls Wesley, the distraction is long enough for her to grab the gun Page had put on the table, and shoot him dead.

Marvel's Daredevil S1E10 - "Nelson v. Murdock" Recap

Matt wakes up patched up and Foggy tells him he took a swing at him when he tried to get him to the hospital. Matt had had Foggy call Claire for help instead. Foggy wants to know if he is even really blind. In a flashback, we see Matt and Foggy meeting in college as they were roommates. Foggy had longer hair and knew about Matt beforehand because he was also from Hell's Kitchen and knew about the story of him losing his sight as a kid saving a man's life. In present day, Foggy is furious that Matt can sort-of see. Foggy is angry about all the secrets and Matt tells him that Fisk is the one who set him to take the blame for the bombings and everything else. Karen calls and Foggy covers, claiming Matt was hit by a car, after Matt implores him not to tell her. Following the call, Foggy insists that Matt tell him everything and not leave any detail out.

Fisk pays Madame Gao a visit, who wants to know how long it takes before his ambition makes him decide to take her out too. Fisk says that he has always respected her, unlike the others. Gap tells Fisk he needs to make a choice between being saviour and oppressor, or else others will choose for him.

Urich pays a visit to the hospital where his sick wife is staying and learns that the extension he filed for her stay has been denied. He is later offered a job as an editor that would entail a pay raise and better benefits. This would mean he would no longer be a reporter but given his wife's ailing health, it's something to consider. Urich then pays a visit to Karen and brings her everything he has on the Fisk story. He needs to take care of his wife so he's going to take the job. But Karen wants one chance to change his mind and asks him to take a ride with her to a place she's discovered that's up-state.

Matt shares with Foggy how Stick taught him everything and gives examples of his other heightened senses. We get another flashback of Foggy and Matt drunk in university and making plans to start their law firm together some day.

Fisk asks Owlsley to speak with Gao and reassure her that he is fine and still on track. Owlsley thinks that Vanessa is a distraction and that Gao was right about Fisk having changed. He then agrees to speak with Gao.

Foggy gets a call that the man who killed Cardenas apparently committed suicide. Matt says that he only told the man to turn himself in but clearly Fisk intervened and is covering his tracks. He admits that he has never killed anyone but wanted to kill the man for killing Cardenas. Foggy is outraged. Flashback once more to Matt and Foggy, this time they're working at the firm Landman and Zack. They have entirely questionable ethics in the manner that they practice law. Foggy is excited about the prospect of getting a promotion but Matt thinks they need to leave the firm and start their own.

Matt shares how after they quit Landman and Zack, he overheard a father sexually abusing his own daughter due to his heightened sensory abilities and that he called Child Protective Services, like you're supposed to. But the wife/mother didn't believe her husband was doing something like that and the man was good at covering his tracks. So Matt confronted the man himself and threatened him to never hurt his daughter again. That was the start of him being the masked vigilante. Foggy thinks that Matt always knew he'd start doing these sort of activities.

Karen and Urich arrive at an expensive rest home where they find a woman named Marlene Vistain, Fisk's mother. She possibly has dementia, but is able to share how Fisk comes to visit her every week and admits that Fisk killed his father.

Fisk is in the midst of throwing a charity gala to raise money for those who suffered due to the bombings. He meets Owlsley, who says that he has spoken to Gao and it's been taken care of. After a while, many of the guests began to drop dead, poisoned by the champagne. One of the victims is Vanessa.

Foggy tells Matt he's going to get himself killed if he keeps this up. Foggy says it isn't fair for Matt to have gotten him and Karen involved and Matt says the world isn't fair. Foggy thinks that if Matt were to get arrested, the world would assume he and Karen knew about everything. Matt says the city needs him in the mask and Foggy says he only ever needed his best friend. Foggy leaves the apartment, and their firm.

Marvel's Daredevil S1E9 - "Speak of the Devil" Recap

Matt pays a visit to a priest he has visited before for confessions. The priest has figured out Matt's identity, having known about Matt's father in the area. The priest is sworn to secrecy though due to his religious vows. The priest shares a story about witnessing some brutal violence against a holy man, which made him believe that the Devil exists.

Urich pays a visit to Foggy and Karen and meets Matt (as Matt) for the first time. He shares how he was visited by the masked vigilante and gave him a great deal of information on Fisk. Currently, Urich can't print any of it unless he can corroborate it beyond being here-say. The foursome then decide to embark on finding something in Fisk's past that they will be able to use against him.

Nobu visits Fisk and demands the city block that Fisk had previously promised him. There has been a delay in Nobu receiving is because it has the apartment complex in which Cardenas and the others refusing to leave live. Fisk is willing to apply more pressure so Nobu can get this block, but in exchange he wants Nobu to provide a specialist that can beat the masked vigilante.

Mrs. Cardenas visits Matt, Foggy, and Karen and shares the news that Fisk has doubled his offer to get the remaining tenants to move out. Some of the other remaining tenants are considering taking it but they all decide that Cardenas will convince them not to, as she is determined not to be put out of her home. After Cardenas leaves, Matt tells them that wasn't a good idea since Fisk won't stop till he gets everyone out. They need to stay focused and find some sort of of paper trail or witness to help bring Fisk down.

Matt then pays a visit to Vanessa at her art gallery. He sense the place is heavily guarded by security men. He meets Vanessa and claims to want some art for his apartment and uses the opportunity to ask her about what art the man in her life likes, if she even has one (he's feigning ignorance obviously). She says Matt can ask him herself and that's when Fisk walks through the door. Fisk is polite, though he does know who Matt is. They have some similar opinions about wanting the best for Hell's Kitchen but are on opposite sides of the tenancy case.

Matt visits the priest and shares his conflict over not being the sort to kill anyone but not knowing of any other way to stop Fisk. The priest poses that Matt should determine whether he is struggling with not wanting to kill a man he has to, or not needing to kill a man but wanting to. Matt heads back to see Foggy and Matt and they are happy to be focused and determined on the course at hand. But then they get a call to come in and identify Mrs. Cardenas' body after she was killed by a junkie.

Matt knows that Fisk was behind this, and the trio hears Fisk giving an impassioned speech about how Mrs. Cardenas' death was symptomatic of the greater problems of the city. Matt follows a trail to go after the junkie that killed Mrs. Cardenas. The junkie shares how he was taken to an abandoned warehouse and forces the man to go turn himself in for what he has done under threat of violence, Matt heads to the warehouse where he ends up in a fight with the specialist Nobu promised, but the specialist is himself. The two end up in a fight which leaves Matt with injuries, but Matt ends up besting him by unintentionally setting him on fire. Fisk then reveals himself and thanks Matt for taking out Nobu. Fisk admits that Cardenas was sacrificed to get Fisk's attention after Nobu backed him into a corner. Fisk then allows Matt to take his best shot to fight and kill him before badly beating Matt, worse than any beating we've seen Matt take before. Fisk orders Wesley to take the kill shot but Matt is able to jump out of the warehouse just in time. Fisk gives orders that men be put on the dock to search for the masked man and to let Nobu's body burn.

A drunk and distraught Foggy heads to Matt's to tell him they need to keep going and fight for Mrs. Cardenas. He hears a crash inside Matt's apartment and goes inside to make sure Matt is okay. It's there that he finds the immensely injured masked vigilante and begins to call 911. Upon removing the mask, Foggy finds that it is Matt.
