Sniffer wakes from having passed out in the clutches of his captors. They reveal that they work as a vigilante justice group and now want Sniffer to join their organisation. After Sniffer has been briefed on everything, the leader sprays him with a mysterious chemical that causes him to be knocked out. Sniffer wakes in his car and finds an injection mark on one of his arms. Sniffer returns to the department shares how the leader of this secret group is a wanted man they've been searching for but were unable to do so due to his being so elusive and having undergone a significant amount of plastic surgery. Sniffer calls the man to set up a meet but Viktor orders him to stay behind and undergo a blood test while he and some other officers will rest the prison doctor that was once a military operative. He comes in willingly and quietly.

When questioned, he spins a tale of lies and claims Sniffer attacked him and suffers from delusions and paranoia. Viktor's trust in Sniffer has already been shaken due to Sniffer's propensity for keeping secrets and the situation is only worsened when Sniffer jumps across the table and tackles the suspect. Viktor and Sniffer later have an argument over all the secrets and mistrust that has escalated in their relationship. Viktor informs Sniffer he has been temporarily dismissed until the investigation is over. Sniffer declares he will solve the case without him but is later arrested and put in a holding cell.

Later, Sniffer brings Viktor and some other officers to the pier where he had previously encountered the Doctor and his men. He takes one of the officer's guns and seemingly shoots Viktor multiple times in the chest before escaping into a boat with some of the vigilantes. As the boat drives off, Sniffer throws his gun into the water.

The nurse from the psychiatric facility finds Yulia's number and implores her to come save Tatyana from being transferred to a box where she will be little more than a mindless zombie sex object to be used by the doctor. The nurse says that this is an ongoing pattern of his. Yulia is dismissive at first but she decides to snap at her anger management course and decides to go get Tatyana.

Sniffer learns the the vigilante organisation intends to give him significant plastic surgery so he can change his identity and remain hidden from those that would search for him.

Later, the vigilante group's base is raided by law enforcement officers including Viktor, whose death was faked as part of a larger scheme that he and Sniffer were in on from the very beginning in order to finally bring these men in. In the commotion, the Doctor's daughter dies and he kills himself immediately thereafter.

When Sniffer returns to his apartment, he finds Tatyana is there waiting for him while unbeknownst to him, Yulia is attempting suicide in her apartment bathtub.

Viktor picks up Sniffer from the ground and tries to ask him questions about how he got there but Sniffer insists on leaving and going straight home. Later, Sniffer tells him he was just trying to get some air at the advice of his doctor and the convulsions were the result of a pollen allergy. Viktor also notices that Sniffer has a cut on his finger, yet another thing that Sniffer deflects. While Sniffer is away, Viktor takes the glass Sniffer has just been drinking from in order to check if his print matches the bloody one found in the lab. After Viktor leaves, Sniffer notices that Viktor switches his drinking glass.

A serial killer known as the Professor has been murdering homeless people and leaving their bodies in strangely mannered fashions. The most recent victims is styled to look like a character form Professor Positron's Academy, a children's show, complete with the cheesy makeup and the tacky red wig. Sniffer picks up on the fact that the victim was killed two days prior to being brought to where the body was staged. She was also chloroformed before her death. The killer was also wearing a special suit that hides his smells, and the victim's clothes were recently dry-cleaned.

The new wave of victims have been killed and staged in an identical manner to a batch of victims from ten years ago. It's not long before yet another victim turns up dead in the same fashion, complete with the wig, makeup, and rope binding her to a chair. Once again the clothes have been dry-cleaned and this time Sniffer picks up on a scent of sanitization that targets lice and mites. He's also vaguely able to pick up the scent of the killer and deduces he is between 35-40 years old. But just as he is about to leave, he smells a reporter on the crimes scene that was at the previous one and proclaims he is the killer.

Viktor brings the reporter in for questioning and he admits that while trying to film a segment on the crime, he accidentally bumped into the body. The cameraman caught it on tape and he begs Viktor not to let it get out to the public or else his career will be ruined.

Yulia visits the psychiatric hospital to check on Tatyana. The doctor claims she isn't making progress but a nurse later discreetly pulls Yulia aside to tell her that when Tatyana stopped taking her medicine her condition had improves. Immediately thereafter the doctor ordered injections on a regular basis as "treatment". She warns Yulia that Tatyana is in danger, needs to be taken away from the facility, and gives Yulia a sample of the pills that Tatyana has been forced to take. Yulia throws away the pills but after walking away for a few steps she immediately turns around and retrieves them.

Viktor manages to track down a homeless facility where both the recent murder victims had stayed. The investigation continues, while on the side Viktor starts to bring up the matter of the missing blood to Sniffer who admits to taking it and shares that the only thing he found in it was a medicine used to treat hypertension.

The Professor strikes again and this time Sniffer is able to pick up on enough scents to narrow things down further as to where they were killed, providing Viktor with a significant amount of information to go towards finding it. Viktor also visits a medical facility one of the victims had stayed at to gather more information.

Yulia brings the pills to Sniffer though she lies about where they're from to try to determine what they are. Sniffer determines that they're a psychoactive drug used to severely alter a person's mental state.

Viktor determines that the reporter they previously questioned in in fact the killer. He would sneak out through the window of his editing room which is how he would create an alibi to cover his track. He has been killing people because the Professor was the reason he became a celebrity. But after that, his fame faded and now he decided to start up the murders in the style of the Professor in order to re-start his fame as a journalist.

But what Viktor and Sniffer don't realise is that the reporter is in a bus being filmed while tied up and having been beaten into admitting that he's not the Professor, merely a fraud. The man is missing a ring finger and after the video is filmed he also removes the reporter's finger. The following morning the journalist is found dead in the van where he was killed.

Viktor determines that one of the Professor's victim's father was lying about his identity and had actually served in the military as an officer.

Sniffer returns to the place where he had awoken from his trance and is taken captive by the prison doctor and the armed men that serve him.

Sniffer must help with the investigation into the break-in and attack on the guard that he perpetrated himself, and hide his involvement in the matter. When the tech expert tries to pull up the security footage they find that it has been corrupted, much to Sniffer's relief. Sniffer then leaves to return the gun that his hypnotized self had stolen from the evidence locker. He is forced to hide when another employee comes into the room but isn't caught.

The sniper Viktor caught in the previous episode is brought in to be interrogated by him. He stays silent when Viktor asks him for his name but eventually answers the questions cryptically with philosophies regarding life. He has a mysterious tattoo that makes Viktor suspect that the man is part of a rogue security force. Viktor swears to figure out who he is and what the tattoo means. Viktor's superior tells him that the things he was saying were lines from the samurai code of honour.

Sniffer has an awkward birthday dinner for his son Alex in which his ex-wife gets into a fight with her mother and then cries on Sniffer's shoulder. He later figures out that he had gotten a call from an unknown caller that lasted roughly thirty seconds before he went into his trance.

Viktor's boss is visited by a military commander who identifies the sniper is named Oleg and served in special operation unit 1354, which explains the tattoo. the unit was created for especially dangerous and sensitive tasks which is why there's no official record of them. There was a time that the unit worked well but one day they killed two terrorists they were supposed to keep alive and bring in for questioning. Their superiors should've investigated things sooner but eventually, the soldiers began to kill more and more people. The decision was made to liquidate the uni but three hours before they were set to be arrested, all of its members disappeared. There were ten in the unit including the commanding officer. As of now there are seven still out on the run.

One of the officers in the department gets a call with the same strange tones and immediately thereafter goes over to the sniper's holding cell and shoots him dead before turning the gun on himself. It's determined that the cop hadn't been feeling well after he got a flu vaccination. The tech expert is unable to trace the call. Blood analysis determines that the vaccinations had an effect on those that received them more than what they were advertised for.

Sniffer messes with some blood samples to try to cover his tracks but accidentally breaks a glass beaker in the process and cuts his finger before leaving. When the medical examiner comes in she finds a bloody fingerprint that Sniffer left behind when stealing Barkov's blood sample. She brings Viktor in to show him what has happened. Viktor tells her to trace the bloody fingerprint and she also informs him that she will still be able to conduct the investigation since she had a control sample saved.

Sniffer questions the man responsible for the vaccines and their conversation is interrupted by his talking to Viktor on the phone. The man's phone call is traced by the military security force and a shooter is sent to dispatch him for being an information leak. While Sniffer is doing his own investigation on the blood sample, Viktor arrives just after the doctor has been taken. Viktor tries calling him and the sniper takes the doctor's phone. When Viktor finds out the doctor left with a bald man, the witness identifies him off a picture of one of the snipers from the military operation. The sniper puts the doctor into the boot of his car and drives off. Viktor has the tech expert trace the number of an alternate number the doctor uses and they're able to trace his movements down the highway.

Sniffer consumes the unknown substance he extracted from the blood sample, intent on monitoring his activities using a body cam he stole from the police department.

Viktor catches up to the sniper's car and they begin shooting at each other. The sniper shoots at the boot of his car before running off. Viktor pursues him until there's nowhere left for him to run so the sniper decides to jump to his death. When Viktor and other officers check the boot of the car they find the doctor is daed from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers on the crime scene call Viktor over to another area of the patch of land where they've discovered Sniffer convulsing on the ground.

A party girl named Alyona is murdered in her luxury apartment. Sniffer immediately picks up on the fact that she had sex shortly before her death, meaning that the mystery man is one of three suspects. Altona had been paying her own tuition to attend an expensive university and investigators are unsure how she afforded this in addition to her apartment.

Tatyana's psychiatric doctor tries to make a sexual pass at her and is surprised when she rejects his advances. When he can't find proof of her hiding her pills that she's supposed to be taking, the doctor orders that she be given injections as a means of taking her 'medicine' but in actuality it's to make her more pliable and subservient to his advances.

Alyona's parents are brought in to answer some questions. When Sniffer picks up that her father was in the apartment recently he admits in private that Alyona helped him with living expenses by providing monthly payments. Alyona's mother doesn't know about any of this and her father asks them not to tell her mother about any of this. He tells them that Alyona secretly worked in a strip club called "Star" and he only found out about this by accident.

Viktor goes to Star and learns from another dancer working there that Alyona was clever about picking up different sugar daddies to date and pay for her every few months.  Alyona's landlord is brought in for questioning next and he claims to only have been in her apartment once a month to pick up the rent but Sniffer is able to pick up on his scent as one that was in the apartment more recently. Viktor allows him to leave without further questioning because he can't think of a motive for murder.

One of Alyona's closest friends is able to pick out another student at the university as the man she had slept with on Friday. He had sex with her only half an hour before she was murdered. The man admits that they have fought in their relationship but he is insistent that he didn't kill her. Sniffer reminds Viktor that the three scents he picked up on were what he picked up on from the bedroom but not necessarily the entire apartment. When Viktor catches the landlord at Star, the man admits that Alyona was trading sex to rent the apartment but they had both agreed to this arrangement. The landlord's lawyer comes in and shows traffic surveillance photos of the landlord speeding through traffic and getting caught. He was 120 kilometers outside of the city, meaning he can't be the murderer.

Sniffer visits the psychiatric facility to check on Tatyana, who is lethargic and despondent from the drug injections. The doctor claims that sniffer's last visit with her triggered a PTSD episode and this is why her progress isn't better. Sniffer is willing to continue paying for her treatments but is saddened that she still appears to be so ill.

One of Alyona's best friends Liza is found dead in a body of water with some signs that she has ben tortured. Liza's body was found near a token belonging to Alyona's boyfriend. He is brought in once more for questioning and he says that he forgot the token when he left her place. When he returned to try to get it back, he called out for Alyona but she didn't respond. He heard running water and checked the shower where he found her dead before running away scared. Viktor doesn't believe his innocence but Sniffer isn't so certain that the boyfriend is the killer.

Alyona's mother is going through an old album of photos she finds among Alyona's things when she finds some provocative photos of Alyona. She grabs a rolling pin from the kitchen, goes out to the shed where her husband is working and knocks him over the head. When Alyona's mother is questioned by Viktor, she shares that her husband isn't Alyona's biological father and in hindsight she realises that he must have been molesting her. She blames herself and believes he is the one who killed her, saying that the night of Alyona's murder, she only saw the light from the shed but doesn't know for certain that he was out there.

When Viktor questions Alyona's step-father, he admits that he and Alyona started sleeping together seven years ago and it stopped once she got accepted to university. Alyona's father says it was a mutually passionate relationship. Sniffer finds a USB drive in the shed where the man was working. It was given to him by Alyona. She accidentally caught Boris, the landlord, killing a fisherman that was fishing on his property at his country home. The man says he was afraid to come forward because Boris is really well-connected. Liza had helped Alyona to try to blackmail Boris with an edited version of the video.

Sniffer gets a call while talking about the case with Viktor and it's the same strange dial tone that was used to trigger the prison guard to murder an inmate. Sniffer leaves and Viktor gets a call from the tech expert that had enhanced the surveillance content of the car that was speeding through traffic and it's revealed to have been Boris' lawyer at the wheel of the car. Viktor tracks Boris down at Star and chases him through the club until he gets outside. A random sniper shoots Boris dead and Viktor shoots (but doesn't kill) the sniper. He also takes the sniper's gun from him before he can shoot himself.

Finally, Sniffer gets to the holding cells in the police department, knocks the guard out, and prepares to shoot Alyona's step-father before he somehow manages to break out of the trance. He sniffs the gun and is able to deduce how he stole the gun from an evidence locker and upon sniffing the guard, he is able to figure out that the was the one to knock him out. He is alarmed to see that there are surveillance cameras there so he is likely to have been caught on camera doing these things. As he leaves, Alyona's step-father has a heart attack.

An American tech expert, Phil Crosby, arrives in Russia and quickly dons a disguise to get out of the airport without being spotted by the people waiting for him. Viktor and Sniffer are brought in to investigate his disappearance and initially it's suspected that there's some sort of international intrigue. Crosby uses a device he planted on the car set to follow him to blow out their tire long enough for him to pull over with a woman he's met up with to use a metal detector to find a tracker on their car so they can get away.

Sniffer is having a difficult time connecting with his son Alex, who has become withdrawn and distant from him. Sniffer resumes work on the case after not being able to pick up much from the airport since there were so many people. They visit a university where a woman named Yelena works. Yelena is involved with Crosby, and the two are away in a remote cabin together. At the university, Viktor spots a suspicious-looking man in a suit and pursues him when he runs away. The two get into a physical altercation but eventually the man and his colleague are brought in to Viktor's superior. They refuse to answer any questions about Yelena, only saying that the case is top secret. After some time, the men are released without being charged and Viktor is informed that Yelena worked as an interpreter for Crosby for some time.

Sniffer tells Viktor that the silicone he smelled in Yelena's office was the kind used for special facemasks that disguise a person, much like in films. Viktor and Sniffer follow this lead to a woman who makes these types of masks. She is shown to be meeting with Crosby to make masks for him and he pays her extra to keep quiet about seeing him. Viktor and Sniffer are on their way to find the woman when Crosby walks past them and Viktor is forced to chase after him. When Crosby runs outside, one of the agents from earlier spots him and also chases after him. When Viktor catches up to Crosby, he finds he is holding the agent at gunpoint and forces Viktor to disarm himself before locking both men in a cage and getting away.

The agents are reprimanded for blowing the case and forced to turn over their information, while Viktor will be put in charge of the operation to find Crosby. The agents claim that Crosby is a CIA agent. He was taken into operational research by Yelena, another agent. But now Crosby is supposed to deliver a speech about personal data protection and their agency was the one to make the operation that got him out of the airport disguised as a woman. Sniffer informs the group of officers that Crosby and Yelena are involved and now she is pregnant. They believe that disappearing is the only way they'll be able to be together.

Yulia meets with Sniffer to tell him to stop giving him money but he tells her that he will do what he wants with his son and embarrasses her for her recent sexual tryst (with the loan officer) that he is able to smell on her.

Yelena calls a friend about some bleeding and cramps she is having, as she's worried it could be a miscarriage. The call allows their location to be traced, forcing Crosby and Yelena to flee. They don their disguises in an effort for Yelena to be able to get medical help without being recognised. When the law enforcement team investigates the cabin they'd been hiding out in they determine they were planning to fly to Cuba. The team knows that the masks they ordered were designed to make them look Latin American so when a call comes in about a Latin American team without documents coming in to seek treatment for a miscarriage risk, Viktor and the others get to the clinic as quickly as possible. But by the time they arrive, Crosby and Yelena have gotten away.

The correct flight is determined but they don't know what name Crosby and Yelena will be flying under. Sniffer is tasked with working alongside the flight attendant to sniff out when they arrive. Though he knows when the couple standing in front of them are Crosby and Yelena, he opts to let them get away instead of informing the law enforcement agents waiting close by to apprehend them. Viktor is suspicious of what Sniffer has done but Sniffer doesn't waiver in his claim that they didn't come to registration. At home, Sniffer is shown to be saddened by the heartbreak surrounding the dissolution of his relationship with Tatyana.

The autistic son a wealthy businessman drops a hairdryer into the man's bathtub while he's still in, resulting in the man's death. At first glance, law enforcement assumes it's an unfortunate accident. But further investigation points to foul play.

The man's wife is later revealed to be having an extramarital affair, and the housekeeper knows about it - even going to so far as to try to blackmail her into being able to keep her job. The husband's elderly sister lives in the house as a mute but seems to be more conscious of her surroundings than people would believe. The wife asks her lover Kostya to come to her house so she can have a tryst but once again the housekeeper interrupts, threatening to go to the police to tell them about the affair if she tries to fire her. The woman threatens the housekeeper, saying she'll call the police on her for blackmail and intends to send the boy and the elderly woman to an institution. The housekeeper leaves, emotionally distraught.

The following morning, Kostya wakes to find his lover dead with strangulation marks on her neck. While checking out the home and observing the boy's rituals they are able to determine that he was taught to throw the dryer which means that someone orchestrated his father's death and used him as a tool to do so.

Viktor visits Kostya at work after Sniffer determines that he was at the house (he snuck out before the police came). Kostya tries to claim he was having an affair with his secretary and she's only willing to cover for him until she finds out he is now a murder suspect.

The housekeeper learns that she is set to inherit a significant sum of money and will be free to apply for custody over the young boy, Yegor, if she would like. Sniffer is able to trick the elderly woman into revealing that she isn't so helpless as she pretends to be. She seemingly has another attack that sends her to the hospital. The housekeeper is called to be informed that the woman is on the brink of death and now would be the right time to say goodbye. The housekeeper goes to the hospital and meets with the elderly woman who says how she saw the housekeeper strangle the woman. The housekeeper was also the one who taught Yegor to throw the hairdryer since his mother was the intended target and the death of Yegor's father was merely an accident. The elderly woman sounds the alarm and it's revealed that Sniffer, Viktor, and other officers are nearby since this was all a rouse to catch the housekeeper confessing to the crimes. Though she has some disabilities she will be able to care for Yegor and give him a stable home.

The phone that was used to call the mental clinic is turned on, allowing police to track it to a park where it has been taped to a bench. Sniffer picks it up and sniffs it, causing him to be overwhelmed momentarily before returning to his original state. From afar, an unknown figure watches the scene unfold and tells someone that the phone has been found.

Sniffer is released from the hospital in time for Viktor to call him in to help with a new murder. Unbeknownst to him, he is being stalked by a sniper that has orders to kill him. The case of the week is a murder at a supermarket. A hooded figure steals an item only to be brought into the back room where security guards try to rough him up but the killer pulls out a gun and shoots them all dead before leaving.

Yulia is behind on some loan payments and doesn't have a job so when she meets with the loan officer and he displays an attraction to her she decides to trade sex for an extension on making her payments.

Sniffer determines that the killer was wearing a fake mustache to disguise himself. There is more to this case than meets the eye. The killer was also able to precisely hide his face from the security cameras which indicates that he knew where they were. They suspect that he may have previously worked there.

Sniffer is brought in to help verify whether an inmate is indeed reformed and able to be released. But when Sniffer is able to deduce that the man has made a chiv hidden on him, the man tries to attack him but is restrained. As the prison's head that brought him in apologises for the incident, Sniffer becomes overwhelmed and passes out.

Viktor and the head of tech look through security footage from the supermarket and discover that the three guards that were killed are found to have been involved in a scheme where they would plant items in the bags of female customers to force them to come to the back room and trade sexual favours to be released without getting arrested. There was a fourth guard present for some of these incidents and they find that the man brought this issue forward to HR. The company instead fired the man.

The killer takes out the other man that knew about the women victims, as he's now working security at another location. It's revealed that his wife was one of the victims of this scheme at the grocery store. Another man comes and holds the wife hostage after her husband leaves. He returns when she doesn't answer her phone and finds that the man is holding her hostage, tied to a chair with her mouth taped shut and a video camera to record himself taking advantage of her. He returns only to be knocked out by the man who sneaks up from behind. The invader is one of the employees from the grocery store. Viktor and the other officers smash their way into the apartment before the man can do anything to her. Both men are arrested and the tapes of the many women are found in the surveillance servers.

Later, a prison guard receives a strange phone call from which he can only hear the sound of some dial-up tones. He goes into a hypnotic trance and goes to the prisoner that had earlier tried to attack Sniffer. He shoots the man dead before walking off and killing himself while the same sniper that has been following Sniffer watches and informs his superior that the deed is done. Meanwhile, Viktor tells Sniffer about some dead men with military tattoos that don't match any legitimate military branches.

Sniffer has been shot and Viktor brings him to the hospital. Flashbacks reveal that they were investigating a case of murder for two headless, handless bodies discovered by a woman walking her dog. A man, 30-35 years old had shot them before using a large metal sheet to decapitate the bodies and take the heads with him in a plastic bag. Sniffer finds the metal sheet nearby next to a briefcase that belonged to one of the victims. One of the victims was a senior investigator in law enforcement, as determines by his ID still being in his pocket.

The department has a new medical examiner named Irina Nordin, whom Viktor is immediately attracted to though she is uninterested in him. The second victim is determined to be a petty criminal named Shilov who had been released from prison eight months prior to his death.

Sniffer and Viktor visit the first victim's office and finds that he had worked on an immunity agreement for Shilov but upon looking through it there are eight pages missing.

Meanwhile Tatyana's husband is released from prison and learns that her filing to divorce him was accepted regardless of him not giving consent. But Tatyana has been staying in a psychiatric hospital to deal with the trauma of being taken captive by the killer in the season one finale. Yulia lists her but hides her scent by dousing herself with cheap perfume so that Sniffer won't know she was there if he comes to visit.

A man named Komarv had killed a woman that caught him on a robbery with Shilov. A neighbor saw Komarv kill her but when she brought in to testify she refused to go through with it. Shilov was able to get a shorter sentence when he agreed to testify against Komarv.

The first murder victim, Lyonya, is said by his wife to have been climbing his career ladder fast and that his boss wasn't so happy about this since he was looking for older cases to crack in addition to his newer ones.

A police captain visits the elderly woman that nearly testified against him and kills her, saying he can't take any risks if she decides to change her mind and go through with testifying against him. He tries to frame the murder as an accidental death resulting from her slipping on wet food. Sniffer is brought in to check the crime scene but he can't pick up on anything past the overwhelming scent of cats. The other investigators check her place and discover part of a cash supply she had taken to not testify against Komarv and the medical examiner is able to find signs that her death was not an accident.

Sniffer visits Tatyana and she runs away from him due to him being a triggering reminder of the traumas she has been through.

Sniffer and Viktor continue their investigation and it leads them to a junkyard where Sniffer is able to locate another dead body. The body is shown to be Komarv, their main suspect up until that point.

Meanwhile the wife of the first victim finds the missing eight pages of the immunity deal in their wedding album. She calls in Viktor and Sniffer to show them what she has found. Shilov testified that Komarv had left with a police captain. He followed after them and witnessed this police captain kill Komarv. He also says that he had previously seen the police captain at the 47th police station since that was where he had been reprimanded for prior crimes. Upon talking with the wife, Sniffer realises that a scent of sand he picked up from the suitcase was actually from the killer's hands, leading them to find the place where the killer buried the heads.

It's the middle of the night when Sniffer holds the flashlights as Viktor digs. The captain appears to try to reprimand them for being on restricted lands but Sniffer tells Viktor he's the killer. A shoot-out beings and the killer gets away after Sniffer is shot. This leads to the episode's beginning where Viktor has brought Sniffer to the hospital to be tended to. Sniffer flatlines but the doctors are able to revive him and tend to his gunshot wound. Yulia visits and is informed of Sniffer's progress and leaves afterwards, telling Viktor not to tell him that she came.

Captain Shevtsov's bullets are shown to match the bullets in the earlier murder victims, which explains why he took the heads. Shevtsov meets with a criminal associate who tries to shoot and kill him but he also jumps out of the window and falls to the ground below before he can be killed.. At first is appears as if he's dead but after a moment, his eyes flutter, indicating that he's only badly wounded. The paramedics arrive and load him up into the ambulance before his associate can get to him. This would-be killer follows the ambulance on his motorcycle.

Inside the ambulance, Shevtsov warns that he needs enhanced guards and protection. The killer causes the ambulance to have a flat tire and shoots the various paramedics before shooting Shevtsov numerous more times. Viktor and other officers arrive on the scene and surround the shooter. Viktor orders him to drop his gun but when the killer sees that he is surrounded, he shoots himself in the head. There is another sniper watching the scene from afar that was shown to be preparing to shoot the killer if he hadn't already shot himself first, while speaking to an unknown boss. He disassembles his weapons and asks for his new target. He receives a text message image of Sniffer.

Sniffer is visited by a delivery man who brings him a package despite him not expecting to receive anything in the post. Upon opening it, he is shocked to find a letter device of any odors, and only a message telling him to "save her." The ink smells of a 25-30 year old woman with dyed blond hair. There is also a smell of stables and cash. A further scent points him towards stables. He and Viktor take this threat seriously when Viktor reveals that these scents he has picked up from the letter match a newly reported murder victim, a young woman found at some horse stables.

While Sniffer and Viktor are investigating the crime scene, Sniffer gets a call from the killer who also sent the package. Sniffer puts it on speaker so Viktor can also hear the call from the distorted voice. It's then that they find another package for Sniffer in a small box tied with a red ribbon. Once again, it's devoid of the majority of smells. The message is the same and this time the scent traces lead them to another murder victim.

Viktor and Sniffer arrive too late to save the middle-aged man whom they find in his boat. The killer is strangling his victims and Sniffer is confused as to why these people are being killed when it's Sniffer that the killer seems to have the issue with.  Later, Sniffer receives another package that sends him and Viktor to a shopping mall too late to save the next victim. A box tied with another red ribbon is left next to her body in a tanning salon.

Sniffer works to determine and trace the chemical components used to remove the traces of smell and is able to get to a ballet school in time to save a young girl with Viktor. They next track down the place where the killer had been working, finding traces of chemical experiments and lab rats. The killer calls Sniffer to taunt him while the police track the call. Sniffer finds a vial the killer has left behind for him. When Sniffer opens it he finds an object with scent traces on it indicating that the final intended victim is Sniffer's love interest, Dr. Tatyana. The killer tells Sniffer to come meet him alone or else she will be killed.

Sniffer goes into the gym he's set to meet the killer in and follows the instructions Viktor and the other police that are staking the place out have given him. Sniffer has an earpiece that he can use to hear Viktor's instructions. Tatyana is tied up with her mouth taped with relatively minor physical injuries but is of course, terrified. She also has a bomb strapped to her chair and the killer gives Sniffer the detonator before running off to try to make his escape. But Sniffer quickly deduces that the detonator he's been given is fake and runs after the killer. Officers swarm into the gym, With Viktor and a couple of them going after Sniffer. They find him beating the killer unconscious. Tatyana is saved.

An underling is killed at a driving range where some mobsters are meeting and doing business. The lead gangster, Mustafa, orders one of his men to kidnap Sniffer and bring him to the range to solve the murder quickly and quietly so that it won't spark a mob war with a rival gang that the victim was a part of. Meanwhile the police are already surveilling the range and the mobsters so they see Sniffer brought there and call in Viktor to let him know. Sniffer agrees to help with the case under the condition that they do it legitimately and with the police involved. Sniffer determines that the man was killed 6-7 hours prior in a secondhand warehouse. He was strangled by a scarf, is about 40 years old, and smokes a particular type of cigarettes. The conversation is broken up by the arrival of Viktor and other officers who apprehend Mustafa and the other gangsters.

Sniffer and Viktor arrive at the correct warehouse and find the surf used to kill the victim, Misha. Sniffer recognises a smell on the scarf of insulin used to treat diabetes. Sniffer finds another dead body murdered by the same killer. The victim was one of Misha's bodyguards. Sniffer secretly takes a piece of the scarf to take back to his own personal lab for further examination.

When Mustafa and another of his associates are released from holding, some of his men are gunned down in the street by the rival gang and one of the gunmen is killed by a survivor.

Yulia visits Tatyana to get a pain in her ear checked, but also likely to snoop on Sniffer's new love interest.

Sniffer is called in to check out the crime scene of the shooting but loses him temper over there being hundreds of people that have been able to come and go and thus contaminated the scents.

Tatyana visits her husband Igor again in prison. She brings his news that his appeal has been denied since the lawyer was unable to push it through. He blames her for this and accuses her of having found someone new. He demands to know who it is and she claims to have no one. She leaves him in cell while he calls after her.

Sniffer and Viktor continue their investigation and Sniffer eventually admits that the reason he owes Mustafa is that he helped him once when he was wrongfully accused of committing a murder. They later set up a sting operation to catch the real killers, the members of the gang that wanted to frame Mustafa and start the gang war that would allow them to rise up in the ranks. They also save Mustafa from being killed by his own men.

Sniffer and Viktor are called in to investigate the kidnapping of a wealthy businessman's son, Nikita. The only clues left behind for Sniffer to use are the Frisbee the boy was playing with and an energy drink can left behind by the kidnapper. Sniffer determines that the man is suffering from severe liver problems and was recently discharged from a private clinic.

Viktor narrows things down to a particular clinic while Sniffer determines a particular car polish so Viktor is able to determine a specific patient to go after that matches the criterion and was discharged just four days ago. Viktor leads a SWAT team to arrest the man, Porechnikov, for kidnapping. Upon further investigation, Porechnikov is found to not be the kidnapper.

Yulia visits Sniffer to warn him not to bring any women home while Alex is staying with him, and to keep track of Alex's whereabouts while he is being the host parent.

Officers investigate more suspects matching the criterion but none are shown to be involved in the case. Nikita's mother comes in to answer questions. She hasn't seen him in a while because the court gave Nikita's father custody of him and he hasn't allowed her to see him since. She tearfully pleads for Viktor to find her son and leaves her card. Viktor orders for her to be secretly surveilled after leaving the building, as he suspects that she has a motive to get her son back from her controlling ex.

Sniffer and Viktor visit Nikita's father who has finally received a ransom letter demanding a large sum of money. Sniffer picks up some scents from the letter and leaves, while Viktor advises him not to make the payment. When Viktor leaves the house, Sniffer tells him that the letter was never inside the mailbox. This means that Nikita's mother Katya lied about certain details of the kidnapping. Katya has also been spotted entering a Japanese restaurant which matches the scents of Japanese tea that Sniffer picked up from the letter.

Viktor and Sniffer visit the restaurant and learn that Katya was there enquiring after Leonid Anatolievich, the restaurant's previous owner. Leonid is said to be a big fan of Japanese tea and likes to come in from time to time to buy some. Sergey Petrovich is said to be the new owner and had forced Leonid out. They next visit the hospital she had been staying at. When the nurse provides a hair clip Katya left behind, Sniffer determines that her scent was on the letter left by the kidnapper.

Sergey visits his former maid and begins beating her for allegedly being involved in the kidnapping. Viktor and Sniffer visit the maid, knowing she is working with Ilushin. She won't admit anything or say where Nikita is. Sniffer knows a particular rare tree is near the house and acts as a human lie detector to question the maid and figure out which of three locations is the right neighborhood. The maid wanted to avenge the death of her father by Kononv. Katya shows up to the hideout and is shocked and overjoyed to find her son is there. Leonid apologises for not telling her sooner but was worried she wouldn't be able to be convincing as a distraught mother if she knew where he was. Leonid offers her some tickets to get away with Nikita until Kononov can be put away for his crimes. But Sergey shows up and sends Nikita to his car before attacking Leonid and strangling him to death. He then goes after Katya but Viktor and Sniffer arrive just in time to stop him. Sergey is arrested and Nikita is reunited with his mother.

Sniffer and Viktor are called in to investigate the death of four soldiers at a military hospital. Initially they suspect the doctors of abusive malpractice. Meanwhile, Yulia and Alex are continuing to clash as she becomes increasingly agitated by her own discontent even when he tries to play the peacemaker.

Viktor goes on a date and defends himself against a man who attacks his date but unfortunately for him, the man turns out to be a high-ranking government official. Viktor is warned by his boss to not make more of a disruption again.

Yulia comes searching for Alex, who has run away to Sniffer's place since he no longer wants to live with her due to all their interpersonal conflicts. She demands that Alex come home and the ensuing tension is highly awkward.

Another man is killed on the military base by a masked gunman. The man's friend locks himself in a kitchen cabinet which the killer tries to shoot his way into but they are interrupted by the arrival of another solider. The killer escapes and the first soldier is found dead by the other man who interrupted the conflict.

Sniffer and Viktor come to the base to investigate the new murder. Sniffer begins using his senses while Viktor learns that the victims were from the same town. Sniffer reveals that he found a thread that lead him to find a crack in the security which is how the killer has gotten in and out of the base. The unknown man was wearing a black scarf, is somewhere around 20-25 years old, and some other chemicals indicate the components used in the leather seats of a new bus.

Meanwhile, one of the high-ranking military officers on the base is shown to have a wife who is having an affair. He begins to piece together that she is lying about her activities and grows increasingly suspicious that she is involved with someone else.

Sniffer and Viktor track down the cabin where the killer has been staying. He's been a relatively quiet man that keeps to himself. His name was Sergey and he served in the military. While Viktor and Sniffer go after Sergey, Sergey is revealed to be the one involved with the man's wife. They were lovers once before but he was attacked by some men while serving in the military resulting in multiple scars. Pashutin's wife heads out to meet Sergey while Pashutin kills one of his accomplices. Sergey killed the men that disfigured him out of vengeance but is distraught over having also killed two innocent men in the process. Pashutin tracks down his wife and tries to kill Sergey and her.

Viktor and Sniffer arrive in time to stop Pashutin from killing his wife but too late to save Sergey. Pashutin was the one that had sent the men to attack Sergey because he didn't want anyone to be with his wife. He had hoped to kill both of them and frame Sergey for her murder. Viktor ends up shot by Pashutin but survives the encounter. In the end, Viktor shoots Pashutin dead.

Sniffer creates a major incident at the unveiling of an important painting when he determines that it is a fake. Viktor must also deal with added headache of Sniffer is on the path to becoming an official member of the law enforcement team, since his outburst reflects poorly on the whole team. When they go to check the painting again, it is now the authentic painting. They are confused by being run around for the misdeeds surrounding the painting.

Sniffer and Viktor consult with artistic experts to try to ascertain the history of the painting and any other important information that can help break the case. The Germany embassy responsible for returning the painting to its rightful home is particularly angry at Sniffer for tarnishing their reputation during this important political moment.

The painting is re-presented to the public after the case has been closed. Sniffer and Viktor pose as security guards at the ceremony and Sniffer determines that once again the painting is a fake. Their boss agrees to let them continue working their case, discretely, under the agreement that Sniffer signs the contract to become an official staff member of the department.

Sniffer and Viktor set up a stake-out to catch the parties responsible for switching the real and forged paintings out. When the moment is right, they take off charging into the tunnels in time to catch the men as they're attempting to get away with the real painting.

After Alex was arrested for murder, Sniffer enlists the help of Viktor to get him released. Alex hasn't been saying anything in his interrogations. When the police chief is being uncooperative, Sniffer and Viktor take it upon themselves to go the crime scene and investigate for something to help secure Alex's release. A nosy neighbour makes a call to the police chief after spying Sniffer and Viktor through the peephole going into the apartment. Viktor is reprimanded by his superior for illegally examining the apartment.

Sniffer comes in to take responsibility for the illegal investigation and tells the police chief that a large supply of heroin went missing after the murder. The killer took the stash and framed Alex for the murder. Sniffer asks for access in order to be able to find the real killer and the police chief says he'll think about it.

A man comes to Sniffer's apartment enquiring about whether his son is in jail. Before letting the man in, Sniffer takes a photo of the man's face with his surveillance system. The man claims to have been locked up in the same holding cell as Alex and that he knows who the real killer is. He offers to provide the information if Sniffer will pay him a thousand dollars. While Sniffer is away, the man pockets a silver cup. Sniffer knows the man has stolen it when he comes back with the money. After giving him the money, Sniffer is knocked out via a headbutt to the nose. The man leaves with all three of the silver cups while Sniffer is left unconscious.

Viktor tracks down the man that attacked Sniffer using the photo taken of him. When he goes to confront him, he finds the man already dead in his apartment. Police arrive and take Viktor into custody. Sniffer is advised by his doctor to take it easy and rest for ten days. Sniffer is alarmed to find that his superior sense of smell is not working after the injury.

Viktor is reprimanded once again and told to go on leave or risk being kicked out of the bureau altogether. He goes to Sniffer and together they determine that the police chief Sniffer offered to help with the case is the one behind everything and was the one who took the heroin stash. Sniffer and Viktor decide to set a trap for the police chief with the help of a tech-expert. Viktor and Sniffer don some disguises and pretend to be criminals breaking into the police chief's summer home. They install some surveillance cameras for the tech expert to record and monitor the area. They allow themselves to be spotted by Vera, the next-door neighbour, who informs the chief of the break-in. He comes immediately to check the area.

The tech expert informs Viktor and Sniffer that the camera in the house isn't working but they are able to monitor the scene through the other three installed. They are able to see that the chief hid the heroin stash in one of his bee-hives. Once the police chief spots one of the cameras he realises that this break-in wasn't the work of petty criminals. All of what he has done with the heroin was recorded and Vera sends him after the trio by saying the men had headed towards the lake. As the trio are packing up their equipment they find themselves confronted by the police chief who holds them at gunpoint. The tech expert is able to distract the chief long enough for Viktor to knock him down and punch him viciously in the nose as revenge for Sniffer's injury. The chief is arrested and the heroin is taken into custody.

Viktor is reinstated by his boss despite having broken orders once again, since at least this time he was able to catch the criminal. Alex is released from jail and tells Sniffer that the reason why he was with the dealer was because he had found the stash his mother had hidden and attempted to return it. Yulia thanks Sniffer and Viktor for saving their son.

Sniffer is called in to assist a high-ranking prosecutor who returned to his home to discover some incriminating sexual photos of himself, along with a threat of extortion. Sniffer quickly deduces that it's the man's wife that has left the photos and demanded the money.

Alex finds out that his mother has taken the stash of marijuana he was hiding. He wants it back, insisting it wasn't his and that he was just holding it for someone else. She demands he take a drug test but he refuses. Despite her claims to have flushed the stash down the toilet, it's revealed that she still has it hidden. Alex visits his father to ask for some money, claiming it's for a new laptop, but Sniffer won't give him the money without talking to his mother first so Alex leaves angry.

Sniffer is called in to investigate another murder. The man's name is Boris Eduardovich and was the chairman of Rusukrbank. He had been shot through the head by a sniper that was hidden on the top of a building. Sniffer determines that the killer is a forty-year-old male who works in a tobacco company that manufactures cheap cigarettes.

Sniffer meets with his ex-wife to discuss Alex, whom she believes to be a junkie. She wants to send Alex to a rehab clinic and for Sniffer to pay for it but Sniffer believes that he must speak with Alex first to get to the bottom of what is going on with his acting out.

Viktor calls Sniffer about some new leads from the bullet pulled from Eduardovich's body. With this, they are able to narrow their investigation down to a single tobacco factory. Sniffer then has an appointment with his doctor Tatyana, during which he gifts her with a box of her favourite chocolates and hunts down another doctor in the hospital that had stolen some important medical drugs from Tatyana.

Upon visiting the factory with Viktor, Sniffer is able to get another lead from trace odors the killer left behind of a particular type of small flowers. They also discover another man shot dead there named Gutnik.

Alex is shown to be in trouble with a drug-dealer for losing the stash he was holding.

The factory where Merluzov was murdered had been pushed to bankruptcy and was going to be demolished. A company called "Sophocles" was supposed to get the land afterwards, and this company was overseen by RUSUKRBANK and more specifically, Gutnik. Viktor learns that the men who were killed were childhood friends and did everything together with a third friend. This friend is a man in the military whom Viktor visits to question. The killer attempts to shoot him but he is spotted first so the man pulls one of the soldiers in front of him. The young man ends up with a bullet in the shoulder and the killer is forced to leave without completing his attempted third kill. Sniffer is taken aback to find there aren't as many trace scents left behind this time. He does however find a bit of napkin that the killer threw away that is full of scents to investigate in his lab. Sniffer's investigation of the napkin leads him and Viktor to investigate fresh graves at a cemetery.

Sniffer also learns of Alex's problems with the local drug dealer and agrees to help him out of the situation and pay off his debt.

Sniffer and Viktor are brought to a grave of a young girl. Her mother died of a stroke a week ago and was buried next to her. The flowers on the graves match the scents Sniffer picked up, along with the wax from candles that are lit on them. The mother had suffered a stroke and become paralyzed the day after her daughter died in a hunting accident. They quickly deduce that the men involved in her death are the ones the shooter has been hunting down. Viktor and Sniffer trace the killer back to this apartment and Viktor is forced to chase after him and engage in a shoot-out. Eventually, Viktor kills the shooter before he can kill Sniffer.

Finally, Sniffer gets a call that Alex has been arrested for murder.

Meet the Sniffer. He's a man with a tremendously powerful nose. He's boarded a flight from Germany back to Russia when a man passes by him in the aisle wearing a cast. He calls for a flight attendant and demands to seethe captain, saying there is a terrorist on board with a bomb. When the flight attendant returns with the captain, he informs them that he smelled the parts that comprise the bomb. they are skeptical of this until he informs them that he can smell that they had sex in the cockpit twice in the last hour.

Sniffer's ex-wife calls him to demand that he go to their son Alex's school, as he's gotten into trouble once again. Upon reaching the school, he meets with the principal who has Alex in his office after he was caught with a bag of marijuana. Sniffer uses his ability to determine that the bag doesn't belong to Alex. Alex tries to cover and claim it is his bag and mustache the wrath of his mother, who arrives at that moment demanding to check his arms for track marks. Sniffer heads to Alex's class to trace the scent while the principal and Sniffer's ex-wife follows after him hurriedly. Sniffer tracks down the actual student drug dealer and dumps the content of his bag onto his desk, revealing numerous other bags of marijuana. Before leaving, he also informs the students that this marijuana is low-quality garbage, just to further embarrass the drug dealer.

Sniffer is called in by his friend Viktor, a police officer struggling to determine the cause of death at a murder scene. Sniffer determines that someone poured digoxin into his coffee, and determines many traits of the killer including his approximate age, gender, and nicotine consumption. Further sniffing leads him to believe that a large sum of money is in play with this crime.

A recently questioned person of interest is killed and a large sum of money stolen from him. Sniffer has placed himself in quarantine in his sterilized luxury apartment because of his allergies flaring up. Viktor calls Sniffer to tell him that he has booked Sniffer an appointment with a specialist to examine his nose and sense of smell. Sniffer doesn't want to go but gives in and meets Doctor Tatyana Voskresenskaya. Tatyana displays a strong knowledge of her field and is impressed by his strong sense of smell. She has him book a follow-up appointment so she can better understand how and why his nose works the way it does.

Viktor is called in to investigate the latest murder. The killer is shown to be lurking around the crime scene in the crowd of nosey citizens. He calls Sniffer to come to check out the crime scene for any further leads. The examination leads them to go to a weekly paint balling session where they believe they'll be able to find the killer. Sniffer doesn't want to come, feeling he shouldn't be required for Viktor to be able to find a man with a nicotine patch, but once again he relents.

Viktor and Sniffer arrive at the paintball match and in the locker room, Sniffer recognises the would-be bomber from the beginning of the episode and determines that he is the killer. But as Viktor has been placed on the other team, he isn't able to get to him before the match starts to point out the killer.  Sniffer is stressed over having to be in a match where everyone is shooting at each other and does his best to stay hidden behind a protective barrier. After some time he observes the killer be shot in the match and thus be eliminated, walking off. He stands up to try to warn Viktor that the killer is getting away, then passes out after being shot with a paintball gun. Viktor comes to check on him and Sniffer warns him that the killer has a gun. Viktor purses the killer and eventually manages to catch up to and apprehend him. Viktor threatens him, demanding to know why he killed Livashov. The man claims he owed him money for a forged diplomatic passport and the second man he killed for trying to blackmail him. Viktor also retrieves the stolen money, as the man was carrying it with him.
