Split Screens Festival Wraps Successful Debut

The inaugural Split Screens Festival began on Friday June 2 and wrapped on Thursday June 8 with jam-packed programming ranging from fan-favourites Mr. Robot and Orphan Black to more indie darlings such as The Girlfriend Experience and Brockmire.

Program director and seasoned film/television critic Matt Zoeller Seitz spoke to us leading up to the festival's premiere and shared that the preparation for a new festival involved playing to their strengths by focusing more on talent and programming based in the New York area. Seitz also took care to keep the fans in mind when selecting shows to highlight, being aware of the power of fandoms such as Orphan Black's Clone Club and Hannibal's Fannibals.

"This is a festival for fans."

Listen to our full interview with Matt Zoeller Seitz here:

Rami Malek attended a one-on-one panel in which he answered many questions about the inner mechanisms of playing Elliot Alderson on USA Network's Mr. Robot. Questions from the moderator and audience ranged from the wear-and-tear of playing such dark material, the portrayal of mental illness, and the filming of the show's complex sequences. Watch the panel here:

With the final season about to premiere, the Clone Club turned out in full force from all over the world in order to attend this send-off panel to the beloved sci-fi series. The cast answered questions about the technical aspects of filming the show, reminisced about the journey, and were moved to tears as many fans in the audience shared stories of the show helping them to come to terms with their sexual orientation. Watch the Orphan Black panel here:

Keeping in line with groundbreaking characters and representation, the series Billions held a panel that focused on the character of Taylor, the first major gender non-binary character to appear on television. In attendance were the show's producers as well as actor Asia Kate Dillon, who is also non-binary, to discuss the character's creative origins, their journey on the series thus far, and more. Watch the Billions panel here:

Brockmire stars Hank Azaria and Amanda Peet delivered tremendous laughs, particularly when Azaria unleashed a wealth of impersonations and characters. But they also shared greater insight into their alcoholic characters, thoughts on social media, and what's to come in season 2. Watch the Brockmire panel here:

Following a screening of the show's first season finale, The Girlfriend Experience co-creators/writers/directors Lodge Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz (via Skype call) discussed their creative process as the driving force behind the series, the complexity of the season finale, and shared hints as to how they would be approaching the season season. Watch The Girlfriend Experience panel here:

Following a last-minute cancellation of the Underground panel, a replacement panel was added to the programming. As the original panel was to take place before an already-scheduled Hannibal panel, the Split Screens team were fast-thinking and added another Hannibal panel to lead into it. This one involved a screening of the penultimate episode "The Number of the Beast Is 666" followed by a quick panel with series actor Raúl Esparza, who agreed to come earlier for the audience. Watch his solo panel here:

The final panel of Split Screens was the originally planned Hannibal one that followed a screening of the series finale "The Wrath of the Lamb" to a room full of Fannibals donning flower crowns. Following the screening, Raúl Esparza and a team of creative individuals inspired by Hannibal spoke about how the series inspired them. Bryan Fuller also joined in to speak on the panel via Skype. Watch the full Hannibal panel here:

Despite being a new festival, Split Screens has delivered a high quality of programming and demonstrated a skilled adaptability in their recovery after a last-minute panel cancellation. Program director and moderator Matt Zoeller Seitz was personable with the panelists and engaging with the largely fan-dominant audience. Split Screens has all the makings of becoming a massively popular festival stop for TV-lovers in years to come.

LOST BOYS LEATHER JACKET TO BE SOLD IN ONLINE AUCTION

LOST BOYS LEATHER JACKET TO BE SOLD IN ONLINE AUCTION

Prop Store is pleased to bring vampire Dwayne’s (Billy Wirth) Death Scene Leather Jacket and Costume from the  80’s classic The Lost Boys to their online auction site. Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic pitted a deadly group of vampires against a pair of brothers in a battle to save their family. The Dwayne vampire jacket on offer comes from the character’s death scene in which Sam (Corey Haim) shoots the vampire with an arrow, sending him back into a stereo which electrocutes him. Resembling a heavily worn biker outfit, this black leather Schott jacket fea- tures a hand-painted jaguar on the right shoulder, which extends down the arm. The sleeves have been cut at the elbow to accommodate Dwayne’s arms exploding during his electrocution. A long cut in the back of the jacket was likely involved with hiding the extensive effects rigging used to explode the character’s arms and head. Offered with the jacket is a pair black Levi jeans marked “B. Wirth” on the inside, referring to the actor.

This Lost Boys jacket is one of many Greg Cannom creations set to be auctioned at Prop Store. Hannibal S3E9 - "And The Woman Clothed With The Sun" Recap

Will is visiting Hannibal to try to get information that will help him find the Tooth Fairy serial killer. Hannibal can sniff out deductions about Will's new life, including the dogs he has and the child he now lives with (the child of the woman Will is now seeing). Hannibal notes that he once gave Will a child, of course referring to Abigail, who is shown in a flashback to be in cahoots with Hannibal to collect enough of her blood to fake her death.

Will goes to visit Alana after seeing Hannibal to vent some of the feelings he has about being around Hannibal once more. Alana is still with Margaux, with whom Alana has had the Verger heir with.

With Hannibal's help, Will has his theory confirmed about the Tooth Fairy being disfigured. Freddie is shown to be spying on Will's investigation, while Alana pays a visit to Hannibal and threatens to take everything from him should he do anything to harm Will. In a continuation of the flashbacks between Hannibal and Abigail, we see him get her to understand that she still loves her father despite all he did and that he loved her the best way he knew how.

Francis Dolarhyde is shown to be re-watching footage from one of his kill scenes and suffering in the throes of his psychosis. The team determines that Dolarhyde stakes out the families he kills and injures/kills their pets before coming back to kill the family themselves.

Freddie confront Will about working with Hannibal again and she pushes him to use her and her resources, under threat that she will leak information she has learned from her spying anyway.

Dolarhyde has read the story about Will and Hannibal in the news, and goes on to meet Reba McClane, a blind woman who works in photography. He asks her for some film so he can shoot in the dark. He later gives her a ride home. Though she had initially declined the offer, she accepts once he states that he is offering not out of concern for her ability to take the bus but for his own pleasure. She then invites him in and gives him some pie. She shares about her experience working with the newly blind and when she mentions that she hopes to work in speech therapy for hearing and speech-impaired children, Dolarhyde becomes even less talkative than normal. She then tells him that she can understand him perfectly well because he speaks well and because she pays attention, something that most people don't do. She appreciates the fact that he has never shown her sympathy, which she hates. She asks if she can touch his face to know whether or not he is smiling, so she'll know whether or not she should stop talking. He stops her from touching his face but assures her that he is indeed smiling.

Will calls his girlfriend Molly and tells her that he has claimed a new dog after his owners were killed. She tells him he is a sweet man that is doing the right thing, despite the costs it has on him internally. Will then has a nightmare about being the Tooth Fairy.

Jack pays a visit to Hannibal and the two seem to be inclined to put the blame on another for the damage Will will now be suffering due to getting back into the criminal line of work.

Francis Dolarhyde calls Hannibal in prison, though not sharing who he is. Hannibal knows it is the Tooth Fairy. Dolarhyde is delighted that Hannibal has taken an interest in his work, a fact he learned from Freddie's piece about Hannibal and Will teaming up together once more. Dolarhyde shares that Hannibal will understand what he is becoming, a Great Red Dragon.

Hannibal airs on Saturdays on NBC at 10PM.

"Hannibal" SDCC 2015 MuseLed Interviews

Despite being cancelled during the airing of season 3, Hannibal brought joy to a tremendous number of Fannibals by making a promotional appearance at San Diego Comic Con to promote the remaining half of what may very well be its final season. Show-runner Bryan Fuller, executive producer Martha De Laurentiis, and stars Hugh Dancy and Richard Armitage sat down with us in the show's press room to answer questions regarding what's to come. While Hugh Dancy has been a lead on the show since its beginning, as Will Graham, Richard Armitage had yet to make his on-screen debut at the time of the show's visit to San Diego Comic Con. Armitage will be playing Francis Dolarhyde and teased of all the "body" to come as well as shared some insight as to how he prepared for playing out the pathology of the character. Bryan Fuller explained to reporters about what obstacles they face in getting the show picked up for another season, noted that he doesn't rule out continuing the story through a feature film, and assured everyone that regardless of what other projects he has on his horizon, he would make it work and find time to be able to carry on with Hannibal. For even more extensive coverage, check out our footage of the press conference in full below, and enjoy the joke Hugh Dancy made to kick things off.

Hannibal airs on Saturdays on NBC at 10PM.

Hannibal S3E8 - "The Great Red Dragon" Recap

So it's the episode many a fan has been waiting for; finally, we see the introduction of Richard Armitage to the show as Francis Dolarhyde and right off the bat we're treated to some cut sexy-back action as Francis works out as he stews in his psychosis. He gets a new pair of removal teeth and a dragon tattoo to span his back.

Three years pass, as Hannibal is still in captivity. He also has a trimmed haircut. Alana doesn't appear to have been reprimanded for working with the Vergers so perhaps she was able to keep the full extent of what she did under wraps.

As for Francis, his killings have earned him the name "The Tooth Fairy" to the press and law enforcement. Jack visits Will to ask for his expertise in hunting down the Tooth Fairy but Will is enjoying living a quiet life with a new girlfriend, who tells him that he may resent their happy life together if he doesn't go and help and then reads about another family getting killed. Will warns her that if he goes, he'll be different when he comes back but she says that she won't be.

Will visits a crime scene of the Tooth Fairy's and finds an entire family massacred. He works his magic and gets into the mindset of Francis and his criminal methodology. The lab notes that Francis has an affinity for biting and they create a mould of his teeth left by the marks on some cheese in the family's home. After careful consideration, Will determines that the only way to find The Tooth Fairy is to pay a visit to the incarcerated Hannibal.

Hannibal airs on Saturdays on NBC at 10PM.

Hannibal S3E7 - "Digestivo" Recap

The corrupt policemen bought off by Mason Verger prepare to dispose of Jack, who is a witness to their wrongdoings. But instead, they end up killed by Chiyoh with her sniper rifle. She comes in and questions Jack about where Hannibal and Will have been taken. He's more than willing to cooperate with Chiyoh since he needs to get safely out of Florence, a city where all the law enforcement want him dead. He tells her Will and Hannibal have been taken to Mason Verger's estate, since bounties were placed on both of their heads. Chiyoh lets Jack free to figure out how to get out of Florence on his own.

Mason and his henchman Corell make the preparations for Will and Hannibal to be their guests. They are planning to eat Hannibal while Will's face will be transplanted onto Mason's. Seriously. Meanwhile, Alana and Margot are scheming for Margot to be able to have a child using Mason's viable sperm and potentially having Alana be the surrogate. Margot informs both Mason and Alana that Jack is still alive and therefore there is still a risk that the FBI could raid the place before they've had the chance to go through with their plans.

Over dinner, Mason gloats to Will and Hannibal over all his evil plans. Will angrily retaliates by biting off part of Cordell's face, after which Cordell must stitch himself up. Cordell is more than happy to gloat to Hannibal, whom he has just branded, over how Mason will devour him.

Mason tells Margot her has prepared a surrogate for their child that is on the farm, while Alana attempts to reason with Will just why she has teamed up with the vergers. Margot visits Hannibal and expresses her ever-present desires to have a child, as Hannibal was previously her therapist. Hannibal suggests to her that she kill Mason after her child is born and place the blame on him, since what's one more murder charge to someone like him?

Alana shoots and kills Hannibal's guard and offers to set him free is he promises to keep Will alive. Hannibal makes the promise and reminds her that he always keeps his promises. Mason is shown to be being put under anaesthesia for the facial transplant while Will has not been put under at all. Hannibal kills the many guards working for Mason and rescues Will from the surgery. When Mason wakes, he finds that Cordell is dead by way of Cordell's face being laid on top of his own.

Alana and Margot discover that Mason's surrogate is actually a pig that has the human foetus inside. Alana surgically removes the child but finds that it is stillborn. The two women confront Mason, who is still disoriented. They tell him hat Hannibal helped them retrieve Mason's sperm through the use of a cattle prod-stimulated prostate ejaculation. Mason attempts to shoot the women but he ends up shooting holes through his floor aquarium. They force him under water and then his moray eel swims down his throat, suffocating and kill him.

Hannibal and Will head to Will's house in Wolf Trap, Virginia with Chiyoh's help. In the morning, Hannibal tells Chiyoh that he ate but didn't kill Mischa.

Will makes a successful recovery from his injuries but in one final session with Hannibal, says that he doesn't want to be in contact with Hannibal or have thoughts about him anymore. Jack later arrives at Will's and arrests Hannibal, who is entirely compliant. Chiyoh leaves Wolf Trap while Hannibal is taken into FBI custody.

Hannibal airs on Saturdays on NBC at 10PM.

Hannibal S3E6 - "Dolce" Recap

Hannibal limps home where Bedelia patches up his wounds. Will arrives in Florence and meets up with Jack, who observes as local law enforcement take away Pazzi's body. Will doesn't understand why Jack didn't kill Hannibal himself and Jack says that perhaps he needs Will to do it. They need to decide how to go about capturing Hannibal, who is seen discussing with Bedelia about how he shall greatly miss Florence. She is saying her goodbyes to him, knowing that Hannibal always intended to eat her but for now, she knows she'll get to stay alive.

In actuality, Bedelia is staying behind in Florence and is shooting up heroin. She will be carrying on the charade of being "Mrs. Fell," as Hannibal had been posing as one Dr. Fell. She meets Will and Jack when they arrive at the house, and despite their best efforts, she is insistent that she is Lydia Fell and not Bedelia Du Maurier as they know her.

In Baltimore, Alana speaks with the Vergers about their continued plans to hunt down Hannibal. They know that Hannibal killed Pazzi and Alana notes that they may need to get an entire department if they're to get him where they want him. Margot is still upset with Mason for taking away her ability to have children but he says she could still have one with him. Margot leaves him to put some more of their plans in motion and then ends up having sex with Alana, after which she asks Alana if she knows how to harvest sperm.

A Florence police inspector comes to question Bedelia with Jack present, knowing that Jack has information on all the bad things Hannibal has gotten up to in America. Will on the other hand, has gone to meet Hannibal at a gallery. They have a polite conversation but when they're heading outside, Will reveals a knife with which he plans to kill Hannibal. But before he has a chance, Chiyoh shoots him with a sniper rifle from a nearby rooftop. Hannibal takes Will to his latest hideout, removes the bullet, and patches him up.

Jack tracks down where Hannibal is keeping Will captive and tries to get him free. But Will warns him that Hannibal is hiding under the table, and Hannibal promptly cuts Jack's Achilles tendon and ties him to a chair at the dinner table same as Will. Hannibal begins to cut into Will's head using a cranial saw, much to Jack's horror. But before he can do too much damage, policemen come crashing into the home, thanks to a tip from Bedelia. The policemen have been bought off by Mason Verger, so Will and Hannibal wake up to find themselves in Mason's home.

Hannibal airs on Thursdays on NBC at 10PM.

Hannibal S3E5 - “Contorno” Recap

Will and Chiyoh are on a train headed south from Lithuania in order to find Hannibal together. She shares about meeting him and being mentored by him. Will knows that Hannibal is in Florence because of Bottecelli's "Primavera," which is currently in the Uffizi gallery. They discuss how snails are carried across the world by birds that eat them. Chiyoh also shares how she was originally Hannibal's Aunt, Lady Murasaki's attendant.

Meanwhile, Hannibal and Bedelia are discussing reciprocity and how they know Will must currently be on the hunt to find and kill Hannibal, while Hannibal in turn is waiting for Will so that he can kill him too.

Jack says goodbye to Bella by sprinkling her ashes into the Arno. He tosses his wedding ring in too afterwards. Jack then heads to the home of Inspector Pazzi and his wife to have dinner. Jack warns him about operating outside of the law to pursue Hannibal, as this was something he himself did and it didn't end well. Pazzi's investigation of Hannibal has been done without anyone in his department knowing.

Mason and Alana are still following their pursuit of Hannibal by tracking his expensive tastes. She orders the sort of things Hannibal would like and is able to find the truffles and wine Bedelia bought at a local Florence shop.

Pazzi has followed the missing Florentine professors to Hannibal and questions him about these disappearances. Of course Hannibal is using an alias but Pazzi knows who he is really talking to. Of course the smartest thing for him to do would be to let official law enforcement know that he has found this wanted criminal. So what does he do? Not that. He tracks down Mason Verger's contact information, as he has put out a bounty for Hannibal.

Hannibal remembers meeting Pazzi in his youth and he knows that Pazzi is operating outside the confines of the law, as he will prefer to profit from selling Hannibal then to simply get credit for catching him.

It's night and Chiyoh leaves the train compartment to look at the moon. Will has visions of her being impaled by antlers. He couldn't save Abigail but now he seems to hope to save Chiyoh instead. He goes out to meet her and she says she knows exactly where Hannibal is: Florence. She kisses Will and tells him violence is what he understands, before pushing him off the back of the train.

Pazzi video chats with Mason, who offers him three million dollars if he can track down Hannibal and deliver him alive, hoping to unleash some plans he has for him. He needs a fresh fingerprint of Hannibal's in exchange for an advance on the reward. Alana tells Mason in private that Hannibal is going to kill Pazzi, and Mason seems to know this too.

Pazzi arrives at Hannibal's to try to get his fingerprints. He shows Hannibal a mask supposedly worn by his ancestors and Hannibal has a gift of his own. It's a woodcut of Francesco Pazzi, one of the Inspector's ancestors. Just as Pazzi is attempting to swipe Hannibal's knife to get the fingerprints, Hannibal renders him unconscious. Meanwhile, Pazzi's wife is asking Jack why her husband isn't home and what he has done.

Pazzi wakes gagged and bound to a chair. Hannibal prepares a noose using an electrical chord as he begins to question him. Pazzi admits that Mason Verger is the one who he was working with and that he hasn't told anyone in law enforcement about him. Alana calls Pazzi's phone which is answered by Hannibal, who says that Pazzi can't come to the phone right now. Hannibal proceeds to recreate the imagery of the woodcut by disembowling Pazzi and throwing him out the side of the apartment to dangle by the electrical chord noose.

Jack then arrives and Hannibal taunts him by insinuating that he killed Bella to put her out of her misery. Jack then attacks Hannibal after turning on Rossini's "The Thieving Bagpipe" and begins beating him badly. Jack throws him through some glass, stabs his arm with a breaking wheel, and gets in several good punches. Hannibal asks Jack how he'll feel once Hannibal is gone. Jack responds, "Alive" and throws Hannibal out a window. Of course Hannibal is still alive but he's covered in blood as he limps away.

Hannibal airs on Thursdays on NBC at 10PM.

Hannibal S3E4 - "Aperitivo" Recap

When last we saw Frederick Chilton, he was shot in the face by Miriam Lass. He survived the injury but suffered extensive damage to his face so now he must put on various forms of make-up and covering devices to hide his injuries. Chilton wants revenge, and is ready to team up with Mason Verger to do it. Mason, you'll remember, also suffered from facial injuries courtesy of Hannibal drugging and manipulating him into eating his own face. After they reveal their true faces to one another, we learn that Mason wants information on Hannibal and is offering a million-dollar reward for it. But after their conversation, Mason decides he doesn't want to work with Chilton, so Chilton will have to look elsewhere.

Chilton goes to visit Will in the hospital, offering an opportunity to team up and catch Hannibal, the man who maimed them. Will is suffering from visions of the dead Abigail Hobbes, despite the fact that it's Chilton visiting him. Still, Will turns down his offer.

Next, he goes to visit Alanna Bloom, who is also still alive but terribly injured after being thrown out a window. She doesn't exactly jump at the opportunity to team up with Chilton, but it doesn't necessarily sound like an outright "no" either. She later heads to Hannibal's house on a hunch that turns out to be right, as she finds Will sitting there. He wants to be alone to stew in his misery and mourn the death of Abigail.

It turns out Alanna isn't ready in the slightest to forget or forgive Hannibal's misdeeds. She's set on hunting down Hannibal and takes on Mason Verger as a patient. Mason is claiming he's found Jesus now and that he has forgiven Hannibal. He's insistent that finding Hannibal is not about seeking revenge. So he and Alanna will have to agree to disagree on that one.

Jack's post-Hannibal showdown is arguably the most and least peaceful of the group. He seems most set on genuinely wanting to move on both personally and professionally where Hannibal is concerned. Now he's focusing on his dying wife Bella, who is still sick. Thankfully, he is able to spend her last moments with her. He puts together a beautiful funeral for her and imagines Bella walking down the hall as if it were their wedding day. But when Will comes to visit him in the church, Jack finds a note on one of the flower bouquets around Bella. The name is written with elegant penmanship. Jack tells Will he know what is coming for him but adds that Will doesn't have to die on him too.

Meanwhile, Alanna is scheming with Mason on how to find Hannibal. She's plotting for the "theatre" of Hannibal's death and proposes finding him by tracking his expensive tastes. Of course a man of his preferences would have settled in Europe so now they just need to follow the wine and truffles. When Jack heads to Will's place, he only finds Alanna waiting, with a clear message that Will knows what he has to do. Will is shown to be setting sail on his boat, likely in search of Hannibal.

Hannibal airs on Thursdays on NBC at 10PM.

Hannibal S3E3 - "Secondo" Recap

Hannibal returns home and shares with Bedelia about his roundabout run-in with Will. She wants to see if Hannibal can forgive Will, who is shown to be climbing a fence and crossing a field in Lithuania. There, he finds a gravestone inscribed, "Lecter," and apparently Will has found Hannibal's childhood home where he hopes to uncover the mysteries of what led Hannibal to be the man he now is. Will fantasises asking Hannibal if this is where it all began but the fantasy is interrupted by a gunshot at the hands of a woman named Chiyoh, whom Will follows and watches cut up the duck she has just shot.

Hannibal is also shown to be slicing meat, but it's a human arm instead. His dinner guest is an Italian academic, Sogliato, who had challenged Hannibal's knowledge of Dante in the first episode of this season. As revenge for this, Hannibal stabs him with an ice pick through his eye socket. Sogliato laughs from the injury and goes blind, until Bedelia moves over to pull the pick out, to which Hannibal tells her that she is technically the one who killed him.

Back at the church where Hannibal and Will had their run-in, Jack Crawford is there and tells Inspector Pazzi that he is there to find Will. Will understands Hannibal and is trying to reason with him but Hannibal is not someone Jack feels can be reasoned with.

Will heads into the Lecter estate and finds a cave in which a starving man is being held captive in a cage. Chiyoh holds Will at gunpoint and Will expresses concern for the man's well-being. She's not going to let Hannibal interrupt her ability to torture the man. Chiyoh tells Will that the man in the cage is the one who killed and ate Hannibal's sister, Misha, in front of Hannibal.

Hannibal gives Bedelia a bath and washes her hair. Bedelia is shown to know about Misha and even gets Hannibal to admit that Misha influenced his decision to forgive Will. But she makes him realise that based on his past behaviour, there is only one way he will ever forgive Will, and Hannibal admits that he will have to eat Will.

When Chiyoh goes to sleep, Will frees the man from captivity. But the man doesn't run off to enjoy his freedom; he attacks Chiyoh, who is able to get her knife into his throat. Chiyoh tells Will that he is like Hannibal in that he was curious what the man would do. Will denies this accusation and is offended by the comparison, though Chiyoh says that Hannibal would be proud of him. She's understanding of his actions, however, and says that she'll help Will find Hannibal.

Hannibal airs on Thursdays on NBC at 10PM.

Hannibal S3E2 - "Primavera" Recap

Flashback to the season 2 finale when Will and Hannibal last had their showdown and Abigail ended up with one hell of a knife wound. But you may as well call Abigail, "Kitty," because having nine lives must be the reason that this girl is still managing to end up walking around. Do any major characters die for real on this show? Oh yes, that's right, Beverly Katz. *angry hissing noises*

Will wakes up in the hospital and Abigail tells him that cutting her throat had always been part of the plan, as Hannibal had told her in advance the precise way for him to cut her throat without her ending up dead. Yeah, right. Did any of these writers ever pay attention in their science courses? Abigail's developed quite the affinity for Hannibal, and isn't happy with Will for turning down Hannibal's offer to join their twisted, killing-family.

Eight months later and the two are travelling in Europe together to search for Hannibal. In Italy, they examine Tony the poet's corpse that was placed on the church podium by Hannibal. Inspector Rinaldo Pazzi wants Will's help, despite knowing the checkered past Will has from being temporarily incarcerated. Pazzi has encountered the serial killer known as Hannibal some twenty years earlier. Then, he gained the name, The Monster of Florence." At the time, he would kidnap people, murder them, and arrange the bodies in the same manner as the Sandro Botticelli painting "Primavera." Just as Primavera represents spring, these killings were the early blossoming of Hannibal's killing ways.

Will works his special means of deductive reasoning regarding the murder of the poet. He goes through Hannibal's MO and then Will envisions the slab of meat unfolding itself and growing into horrific stag-like monster that begins moving towards him. Abigail pulls Will out of this vision and he determines that the body is a message: that of Hannibal's broken heart. Abigail thinks that Hannibal misses them, though Will points out that Hannibal is always playing with them. Will asks if she really wants to be back with Hannibal and she says she does. But their heart-to-heart conversation is interrupted when Abigail's neck begins to slice open and bleed. It turns out she was never there to begin with, as we get a flashback, real this time, of Will being tended to in the hospital while Abigail's corpse is wheeled off to the morgue. As Will is shown to have been patched up and his wounds stitched up, the same was done to Abigail but only to normalise her body.

But in the present, a very real Hannibal (we think) was shown to be watching Will from a hidden area in the cathedral. Will seems certain that Hannibal will kill Pazzi, and we can't help but agree. As the two descend into the church caves to follow Hannibal, Will calls out to him to say he forgives him. Hannibal hears the apology but a face-to-face reunion isn't going to happen just yet.

Hannibal airs on Thursdays on NBC at 10PM.

Hannibal S3E1 - "Antipasto" Recap

Hannibal has built a new life for himself in Paris. He had to go on the run once the truth about his eating habits came to the attention of Will and Jack. He's also still keeping Gideon alive, who may be being slowly eaten away, but at least Hannibal has someone to exchange pretentious, poetic ramblings with over his gourmet meals.

But Gideon isn't the only one Hannibal has to keep him company. Bedelia du Marier is also on the run with him. She had asked him to help her with the murder he had trapped her in and now she won't be getting away from him any time soon. After spending time together in Paris, it's time to go through the Alps and then into Italy. Bedevil can't outright attempt to escape but after buying two bottles of Puligny-Montrachet and some white truffles, she sits to enjoys her treats where she could theoretically be spotted for those who may be searching for her.

Hannibal encounters a poet named Anthony Dimmond, whom he had previously met in Paris. The conversation is polite and Hannibal invites Anthony to have dinner with him and his wife (Bedelia). Anthony notices that Bedelia is avoiding eating her meats but she skirts the issue. Much to Bedelia's surprise, Hannibal doesn't do away with Anthony, who leaves the dinner none the wiser.

But later, Hannibal meets Anthony again and finds that he is hoping Hannibal will go running around with him across Europe, thanks to some seeds planted by Bedelia. Hannibal takes him back to his place and promptly kills him for his next meal. He asks why she put this man on this path and she says that she was simply curious to see what would happen. Twisted minds think alike!

Hannibal airs on Thursdays on NBC at 10PM.

"Hannibal" - SDCC 2014 Interviews

At SDCC 2014, Museled sat down with the stars and crew of NBC's fan-favourite show Hannibal to discuss all the excitement of season 2 and what's in store for season 3.

Scott Thompson expressed interest in playing his yet-to-be seen twin brother on the show and Aaron Abrams discussed how the strong emotional content of the show is what better allows them to include such graphic violence. They also teased how television is giving the film medium a run for its money and expressed their love for Comic Con and the fans they get to connect with.

Raul Esparza expressed his appreciation for Bryan Fuller's comedic writing, particularly for his character, Dr. Chilton, the work that goes into putting the food together for the show, and one of his best improvised moments that ended up making it into an episode.

Caroline talked about the changes Alana will have to go through after the traumatic events of the season 2 finale, the journey her character has gone during her time on the show, potential dog names, and the input she has been able to give for Alana.

Executive producer/writer Steven Lightfoot shared what he is looking forward to in season 3, discussed the aesthetic of the violent crimes presented on the show, the use of surreal imagery, the role of music, and the intensity, passion, and creativity of fans.

Producers David Slade and Martha De Laurentiis talk about the theatricality of the violence, Bryan's writing, the notes they receive from Standards and Practices, that highly memorable "menage a cinq," and the toll it takes internally to create these stories.

Bryan Fuller shares how the first episode of season 3 will be like a brand new pilot, as it explores the background of Hannibal and Bedelia's relationship, the colourful language used in the dialogue between Will and Hannibal, the death of Beverly Katz, new characters that will be introduced in season 3, how he will balance doing Hannibal with his new job adapting Neil Gaiman's American Gods, the importance of the fans, his views on fanfiction, his love of Comic Con, and how the fan feedback regarding female characters in season 2 helped to shape the direction of season 3.

Hannibal season 3 will air on NBC in 2015.

Tyler Posey was certainly a very energetic host. Although the entire Teen Wolf fandom was given the award for raising the money for the wolf sanctuary I feel that I have to point out that it was called the Sterek Campaign Charity Project. Sterek fans really are the best. But my favorite acceptance was Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Natalie Dormer accepting fort he OMG moment for the purple wedding. Not only did they give the award to someone in the crowd, which seemed fitting, but Natalie was really eloquent and quite impressive. As if there was any doubt that more of her should be seen, she cleared up that up with her presence.

Hannibal S2E13 (Season 2 Finale) - "Mizumono" Recap

Will meets with Hannibal and advises him on how to kill Jack. He then meets with Jack and tells him how to best fend off this attack. They are both shown to be asking him to come running when the other is screaming and "do what needs to be done." Will says yes to both of them.

Will then heads home and hears his dogs barking as he nears the front door. Garrett Hobbes is sitting on his front porch. Garrett stands and tells Will to "see." Will takes his hunting rifle and aims at an antlered creature before firing.

Hannibal visiting Bella, who is even closer to death. She is bedridden, weak, and has an oxygen tank she breathes from when the task becomes difficult. She notes that she is still alive because of Hannibal and her tone is not exactly thankful. But she says she has stayed alive because she cannot abandon Jack again. She asks Hannibal to save Jack for her when she is gone, after saving her for Jack.

Freddie tells Will she's looking forward to being resurrected since the survivor story will be lucrative. Will says he's not sure they will survive this and then asks her not to write about Abigail, adding that she is free to write about him or Hannibal. She seems interested in the fact that he truly doesn't know if he will survive this and Will again asks her to let Abigail rest in peace.

Will looks through Hanibal's notes on him and begins burning some of them while Hannibal joins in. Hannibal doesn't want the FBI scrutinising his patient files after he has gone. Hannibal and Will comment on Hannibal's mind palace, with Hannibal saying that it is vast even by medieval standards. Will says he only needs a stream to reach into his memories. Hannibal says if he is apprehended, he will live in his memory palace. Hannibal appears to sniff and then has a vision of the hair on Freddie Lound's head. He looks on at Will, and we can't help but wonder if Hannibal has somehow figured out that Freddie is still alive.

Alana tells Will that she dreams of darkness consuming her and feeling poisoned. Will says they have all been poisoned and she replies that he saw what no one else could. Alana says they are still in the thick of trauma and asks how he can be sure Hannibal is actually goading Will into a trap, despite the fact that Will believes he is doing that to Hannibal.

Hannibal has prepared a rib cage for dinner which is surrounded by vegetables. He talks with Will about how they both have concepts of one another and Will replies that neither of them are ideal. Hannibal asks if it's ideal that Jack dies and Will says what happens to Jack has been preordained. Hannibal says they could disappear tonight and it would be almost polite. Will says this would be their last supper and Hannibal replies, "...of this life." Will asks what would happen if he confessed to Jack right now and Hannibal says he would forgive him. He then asks if he would accept Jack's forgiveness. Will says Jack isn't offering forgiveness and wants justice and the truth.

Kade visits Jack and says what he's doing is entrapment. Jack says one can't be entrapped into committing premeditated murder. She says he will never get a conviction but Jack raises his voice, declaring they are as close as they will ever get to catching him. Kade brings up Bella and says Jack is distracted. Jack turns over his gun and badge and is escorted out by security. He is then shown to be sitting at Bella's bedside.

Kade is astounded looking through Jack's files. Alana asks what she will do about Hannibal and Kade says his passport has been blocked. Alan says the only way to catch him will be in the act. Kade shows Alana the photos of Will's mutilation and says self-defence only goes so far. She says Jack misused his power and Alana says they are desperate. Kade says they have broken the law and will be brought up on charges. Alana says the men will not stop and that Jack will do what he has to do. Jack kisses a sleeping Bella goodbye.

Alana calls Will to warn him that the FBI have issued a warrant for his arrest for accessory to entrapment and the murder of Randall Tier. Will's dogs start barking and cars are pulling up out front. He says goodbye and hangs up, before walking out, calling Hannibal, and saying, "They know."

Hannibal is preparing dinner when Jack comes in. Hannibal offers him knives so he can act as sous chef and Jack thanks him for his friendship. The fight scene from the season premiere commences and Alana is shown to be approaching from outside as it rains. She hears the gunshots and calls the police to report it. Jack has been wounded and barricaded himself in the pantry. Alana approaches Hannibal with her gun drawn. She says she had been so blind and Hannibal notes that he had worked hard to blind her. He gives her the chance to walk away, promising to not come after her if she does, and says he'll kill her if she stays. She tries to shoot at him but the gun clicks. Hannibal says he took her bullets and moves towards her. She runs up the stairs and into a room where she reloads the gun. She fires at the door and shouts that she found more bullets. She turns towards a shadow and finds that it is Abigail, who apologises before shoving her through and out the two-story window.

Will arrives and finds Alana bleeding and broken on the pavement. He pulls off his jacket to cover her and calls for an ambulance. She tells him Jack is inside and to go after him. Jack is also struggling to hold on inside the pantry as his neck wound is bleeding heavily. Will finds a large puddle of blood coming from the pantry and then sees a crying Abigail. He is amazed to see her and lowers the gun. She says she didn't know what else to do so she just did what he told her. Will asks where Hannibal is and at her silence, he turns around and finds Hannibal standing behind him. Will tells him he was supposed to leave and Hannibal says they couldn't leave without him. He touches Will's face and stabs him in the gut with a small knife. Hannibal embraces him and says he wanted to surprise him just as Will had wanted to surprise him.

Hannibal asks Will if he thought he could change him the way Hannibal had changed him and Will says he already did. Hannibal forgives Will and asks for forgiveness before summoning Abigail and slicing her jugular. Will cries as the blood sprays him. Hannibal tells Will he can make it go away and to put his head back, close his eyes and wade into the quiet of the stream. Will crawls forward to Abigail and puts his hand on her neck to try to stop the bleeding.

Hannibal walks out into the rain and allows it to wash the blood off his skin. Jack has called Bella, who answers, but Jack is unable to say anything. Will is no longer able to maintain his hold on Abigail's wound and watches as the antlered creature lies on the floor and breathes its last breath.

A plane flies overhead. Hannibal sits in first class and takes a glass of champagne from the French-speaking flight attendant. Bedelia is seated next to him and Hannibal takes her hand before closing his eyes and leaning his head back.

Hannibal will return to NBC for Season 3!

Hannibal S2E12 - "Tome-wan" Recap

Hannibal asks Will why he told Mason that he wants to kill him, they discuss whether Mason should be murdered, and Will envisions Hannibal being eaten by Mason's killer pigs. Hannibal has another session with Mason during which Mason ends up stabbing Hannibal's leather chair and confronting him as to what sort of game he and Will are playing. He stabs the chair again - a likely unwise move against a posh cannibal.

Will meets with Jack and tells him Hannibal is trying to manipulate him into killing Mason but he believes he can manipulate Hannibal into killing him instead. He says it shouldn't be too difficult, since Hannibal already finds him rude. They later meet with Bedelia, who tells them that although Hannibal was her patient, she was under her influence. When Will asks about an attack from one of her former patients and the report saying that he swallowed his own time, she replies that it wasn't attached at the time before saying that she killed him. She believed it to be self defence at the time but adds that Hannibal persuaded her to kill him. She asks Will if Hannibal has ever tried to persuade him to kill someone and warns that it will likely be someone he loves and he will think it is the only way. She lets Will know that Hannibal will be caught because of his propensity for self-congratulation and whimsy.

Hannibal and Will discuss dreams and Hannibal says that Will is waking up to he really is. Hannibal says that Mason is a problem and likens problem-solving to hunting. Will tells Hannibal he is fostering co-dependency by trying to get them to kill together. Will notes that he did the same thing to Abigail.

Hannibal and Jack sit down for dinner together. Hannibal has prepared a fishy gelatine dish over which he and Jack discuss whom is pursuing whom, without ever being upfront of course. Mason's henchmen later pay him a visit to try to bring him to Mason. He manages to fatally wound one of them but the other uses a stun gun against which even the great Hannibal Lecter is no match. He ends up restrained and hung up while Mason plans to lower him into the den of man-eating pigs after cutting his throats. Mason wants Will to do it but then Will slashes Hannibal's restraints instead. Will is knocked out by Carlo, Mason's henchman.

When Will wakes, he sees a blood trail and finds that Carlo's lower half has been consumed by the man-eating pigs. Mason wakes and is given psychedelic compounds by Hannibal. Hannibal tells him to show him "how Papa would check the depth of a pig's fat" on himself. Will gets home and finds that Mason is slicing pieces of his own face off and feeding them to Will's dogs. Hannibal is there too and assures Will that he has merely broadened his dog's palate as he did Will's. When Mason comments that he's hungry, Hannibal tells him to eat his own nose, which he does and compares his taste and consistency to chicken gizzard. Will won't kill Mason and tells Hannibal that he's his patient and should do what he thinks is best for him. Hannibal heads over and snaps Mason's neck.

Much to our surprise, Mason is not dead, merely paralysed. Jack pays him a visit and Mason won't implicate Hannibal, simply saying that he took a tumble in the pig pen. He's either afraid of Hannibal or hopes to seek vengeance on his own terms. Either way, he is not of any help to Jack's investigation. Margot comes in after Jack leaves and tells Mason that she wants to take care of him just as he had taken care of her. Needless to say, that doesn't bode well for Mason.

Hannibal and Will discuss Achilles and Patroclus. Will appears to have truly become set on getting Hannibal to reveals himself to Jack as the Chesapeake Ripper.

Hannibal airs on Fridays on NBC at 10PM.

Hannibal S2E11 - "Ko No Mono" Recap

Will and Hannibal share a meal of songbirds and Will admits that he felt euphoric when killing Freddie.

A flaming body in a wheelchair rolls down a hill, crashing into Freddie's parking spot. Dental records confirm that the body is Freddie's and she was dead for a day before being set on fire. There's also a cut on her body from a hunting knife.

Margo is pregnant. She tells Hannibal and Will and Will learns he is the baby's father. He asks what she wants and she says he is free to give as much or as little as she wants. She's open to a male influence but doesn't want it to be her brother, as he is not good with children.

Some young children are visiting Mason's stables. Mason pulls a boy aside and frightens him into crying. He takes the child's tear using a small tissue and gives the child a chocolate. Mason then takes the tissue and puts it into his martini before drinking it.

Will has a nightmare about Freddie and is visited by Alana. She is concerned that he may be a killer and criticises his relationship with Hannibal and he points out the hypocrisy in this since she is involved with Hannibal. He gives her a gun and tells her to practice with it and use it on whomever she is afraid of.

Mason has a session with Hannibal and talk about camp at Lake Michigan, where he got a slap on the wrist for some unsavoury actions and was sentenced to some community service and seeing a therapist. Mason says his sister has to love him or she will be destitute and says he is the sole heir to the fortune. Hannibal replies, "Unless biology provides another..."

Will arrives and stands with Alana at Freddie's funeral. He says he's not there to dance to dance on her grave and asks her if she's profiling him, adding that Hannibal told him it would be therapeutic. Later, he speaks with Hannibal about his upcoming fatherhood. Hannibal says he was a father to his younger sister Misha who is now dead.

At Freddie's grave, her body has been posted and there are now holes in her. Alana says her killer also killed Randall Tier, as they were both mutilated and displayed.

Mason tells Margot that he wants a baby that will be an heir. He says a child will bring them closer together and repeatedly comments that she has a bloom in her cheeks. At Mason's next session with Hannibal, he talks about the swine fairs at which his father would stab pigs competing against his own to test their fat depth. The conversation switches to his paranoia regarding Margot becoming pregnant.

Alana tells Hannibal that Will is pressuring her to believe something she doesn't. She's beginning to question everything and when Hannibal kisses her hand, he smells the gun powder from her practicing firing a gun.

Margot is driving but a truck hits her and runs her off the road. The pig torturer that works for Mason gets out of the vehicle. Margo wakes up on a surgical table with Mason standing over her in red scrubs. He says he needs to remove this temptation and says the record will show that something was wrong with her lady parts so he will be advised to take everything. A tear leaks out from her eye and Mason takes it with one of his tissues. He also tells her the only person she'll be celebrating Mother's Day with is him. She's unable to move and a team of doctors move in with equipment.

Alana expresses her concerns to Jack and asks if he thinks Will killed Freddie. He says no and begins to say that the evidence shows Chilton was the Ripper but she shouts at him to stop lying. She tells him he will lose if he hasn't already. Jack asks her to come with him and brings her to a room where Freddie is waiting and asks Alana how her funeral was. Alana is shocked.

Will visits Margot who is sleeping in her hospital room. Hannibal joins him and then Will leaves. Will attacks Carlo, the pig torturer from behind. Mason is sitting above his killer pigs when his music stops. He calls for Carlo but then turns to see Will, saying he must be the daddy. Will punches him and Mason says he will feed him to his pigs. Will pushes him forward and dangles him over the den of flesh-eating pigs. Will asks if it was Margot's idea to have a baby, for Mason to kill it, and for Will to come to kill him. He says they all have the same therapist. He pulls Mason forward but then puts a gun to his head. He plants the seed in Mason's mind that Hannibal is the one he wants to feed to his pigs.

Hannibal airs on Fridays on NBC at 10PM.

Hannibal S2E10 - "Naka-Choko" Recap

In revisiting last week's ending, we see Will hallucinate a black elk crash through his window, which he shoots and then beats. He sees it as having Hannibal's face before he finally sees it as Randall, dead and bloody. The conversation is replayed between him and Hannibal regarding their being even now about having sent people to kill one another. They note that the kill was intimate, as Will had beat him to death with his hands.

Jack looks over Randall's body on display in a museum. His head has been put on the head of prehistoric bear and the massive teeth have been put into his jaw. Both Hannibal and Will come to the crime scene to consult. Hannibal says it is a humiliation to the victim but Will says it is a commemoration. The killer does not feel guilt. Will gets into the killer's mind but this time, it's his own and he speaks with Randall. He tells Jack that the killer knew and understood Randall.

Will visits Freddie Lounds, who has been offered film deals for her book. She has great wealth headed her way even though she is now a pariah among jounralists. They talk about the Chesapeake Ripper and she says that Chilton didn't have the surgical skills to perform the Ripper murders. She does not believe he killed Abigail and promises that she will never let that go. Will says he won't either.

Margo has another session with Hannibal who tells her that although she still loves her brother, she must allow herself to hate him otherwise she will be begging him for things for the rest of her life. She says that her father's will is set up in a way that if the male heir died, the fortune would go to the Southern Baptist Convention and she would be left with nothing. He tells she must make her own legacy.

Margo returns home and her brother shows her a small pig that he has named Pavlov and then a maze he has had constructed. Pigs are released into it and he explains that the maze was designed to antagonise them and has figured out how to make them eat a live person. He has a dummy lowered that is full of meat and wearing one of her suits. Human screams are played each time the pigs are fed and the pigs quickly devour the obvious representation of her.

Hannibal teaches Alana to play a theramin. Margo visits Will with a bottle of liquor in hand. She enquires after his window and he blames it on a stag. Hannibal and Alana continue their flirtations while Margo removes both her and Will's shirts. Will examines Margo's scars and she tells him they are from her brother. She asks about his bullet scar and he says a friend shot him. Both couples begin kissing and it becomes difficult to distinguish whether things are actually real or simply imagined as Will imagines the black antlered creature mounting Alana, who then rolls over towards Hannibal.

Freddie visits Alana on campus and questions her about her relationship with Hannibal but she refuses to answer. Freddie lists several of Hannibal's past patients who are now dead and that Will has now joined Hannibal since he couldn't beat him.

Hannibal visits Mason, who is pleased he has accepted his invitation. Hannibal compliments him on his pigs and discuss breeding. Hannibal also admits he had a sister. Mason claims Margo is pathological and Hannibal invites him to start therapy with him, claiming everyone needs someone to talk to. Mason offers to have a pig slaughtered for him to take home and Hannibal accepts on the condition that he choose the pig.

Will and Alana have dinner at Hannibal's and the pig is the main course. Things are a bit tense and Freddie is brought up in the conversation. Hannibal claims she is resorting to fiction and Alana says Freddie has no boundaries. They discuss crossing boundaries and Alana claims it's hard to know where they are with one another.

Hannibal sits in his plastic suit. Freddie drives up to Will's place and hears the dogs barking. She knocks on the door and heads around back when no one answer. She picks the lock to his barn and heads inside. She finds plastic sheeting and upon going behind it, finds Randall's mechanical animal suit hanging. She takes pictures of it and then finds a freezer. She picks the lock, looks inside, finds packets of meat, and then the jaw from a skull. She shuts the freezer and finds Will staring at her.

Freddie draws her gun on Will and he claims there is a good explanation. He is eerily calm and she tells him to get away from the door. She tries to shoot at him but misses. He attacks her trying to get the gun away from her and a struggle ensues. She runs out to her car and tries to make a call. She puts her keys in the ignition but then Will smashes her window with a crowbar and drags her out.

Jack plays a voicemail he received from her of her screams when getting pulled from the car. Hannibal and Alana are also present for the sit-down. Jack says the phone was traced to a cell tower close to him and security cameras show her at a gas station six hours from his farm. Will claims she was supposed to interview him but never showed up. Jack asks why he would grant her an interview and Will claims he owed her. Will also notes that as he lives in the middle of nowhere, it's a good place to abduct her.

Will brings Hannibal a piece of meat and claims it is from a slim and delicate pig. It is prepared into a gourmet meal that they sit down and share together. Hannibal says it has an interesting flavour and claims meat is more flavourful when it is stress free before slaughter. He says the meat taste frightened and acidic but Will says it's merely bitter about being dead. Hannibal says the meat isn't pork and Will says it's long pig. Will says he has given up on good and evil for behaviourism and tells Hannibal he is destructive, which is the same thing as evil. Hannibal says that storms and tornados are destructive and likens the to acts of God.

Hannibal airs on Fridays on NBC at 10PM.
