"ABIGAIL": FIRST TRAILER OF THE RUSSIAN STEAMPUNK FANTASY FEATURING EDDIE MARSAN

The exclusive first trailer of the upcoming steampunk fantasy ABIGAIL (produced by KD Studios) is now available. In the film, Eddie Marsan, the British actor, stars as Jonathan Foster – the father of the main character called Abigail.

Abigail is a girl living in the town which was closed many years ago due to the mysterious epidemic. Abby’s father was taken away on the pretext of being infected when she was a child. One day though, Abigail discovers that she is gifted with the magical powers and that her town is actually brimming with magic. She also founds out that the epidemic is nothing but a blatant lie, the cover for the authorities to imprison anyone with magical gifts.
Abby realizes that her father could still be alive. Determined to find him whatever it takes, she defies the law and the inspectors of the Security Department inspectors begin chasing her. The rebels from the underground movement fighting to liberate the town help Abby to eschew the inspectors. Her supreme aim though is to find her beloved father, and in order to do this, she is supposed to immerse herself in a journey full of adventures and dangers. This journey will reverse Abby’s perceptions on the world she lives in, on the essence of magic - and on herself.

‘The screenplay and other film materials really impressed me. The story that this film is based on is truly universal: a young girl trying to find herself in a world where everything is forbidden. The Russian actors I worked with in Russia were really supportive. It was a wonderful experience. Because of the different languages, at first it was a little hard to establish a rapport, but by the end of the first day of filming, that barrier was successfully overcome. Whenever the director came over to me, I already knew what he was going to say, because filmmaking has its own language, which you could compare to the language of music or the language of art. Everyone who makes their living in this area understands this language. So everything turned out to be a lot easier than I had expected because actually, we all speak the same language’.

ABIGAIL will be theatrically released worldwide starting from August 22, 2019.
