Celebrate the Upcoming Graphic Novel at New York Comic-Con

TOKYOPOP®, a POP Media Holdings company and global manga leader, is excited to promote the release of the first graphic novel in their DISNEY TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS: ZERO'S JOURNEY comic series.
The story was introduced for Diamond Comics' 2018 Free Comic Book Day with a prequel comic counted as issue #0 in the 20 issue comic series. Distributing over 120,000 copies to comic book stores across North America, the brand new story introduces new characters alongside fan favorites, and is written and created in house by the TOKYOPOP team.
Jack Skellington is the undisputed Pumpkin King of Halloween Town and creative genius behind the most spook-tacular scares. Beside him through every great new creepy concept is his ever-faithful ghost pup, Zero. But panic descends on Halloween Town when a clumsy mistake leads to Zero going missing! Finding himself lost in a curious land of baked goods, hand-wrapped presents, decorated trees and joyful caroling, Zero must traverse the unfamiliar world of Christmas Town to find his way home! And with Halloween plans on hold while Jack mounts a search, will they be reunited in time to save both holidays?!

Set in the wonderful world of THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS as created by Tim Burton, explore the magical realms of Halloween Town and Christmas Town through the eyes of Zero as he tries to find his way home in an unfamiliar world.

"This particular project was a very special one since it started from 100% admiration, respect and enjoyment of the source material," says writer D.J. Milky (PRINCESS AI, JUROR 13). "I've been a fan of THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (and Tim Burton in general) for many years, so when the opportunity arose through TOKYOPOP's Disney Manga publishing program, I jumped on it."

DISNEY TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS: ZERO'S JOURNEY, GN VOL. 1 will be released on October 2, 2018 nationwide, and with a variant cover by artist Camilla d'Errico (TANPOPO) available exclusively from FYE. Tim Burton to direct a live action Dumbo

Apparently since there are no original ideas left in Hollywood, they've decided to turn every Disney cartoon into a live action. Alice in Wonderland did it beautifully and with rave reviews. Maleficent gave a great twist to the classic Sleeping Beauty tale, and ignited imaginations. Cinderella is about to hit cinemas this week, and I can say that its a good adaptation. Beauty and the Beast has been announcing the cast over the last several weeks, and now Dumbo is getting the live action treatment. Yes, you read that correctly, Dumbo. And Tim Burton will direct.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Dumbo will "blend live actors and computer-generated effects." Disney also has similar approaches to “The Jungle Book,” “Pete’s Dragon” and “Beauty and the Beast” in the works, in addition to the Wonderland sequel Burton is also helming “Through the Looking Glass.”

Originally released in 1941,  Dumbo was the fourth animated featured in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. Based on the story written by Helen Aberson, it tells the story of a semi-anthropomorphic young circus elephant ridiculed for his big ears, that becomes a star when he discovers he can use as wings and fly.

Few details are known about Burton’s version, as it’s in the early stages of development, but it will be the latest in Disney's Live Action Fairytale Strategy.

Frankenweenie Giveaway at Midnight IMAX 3D Showings

Exclusively for IMAX fans as part of IMAX’s 12:01 program - those attending the Frankenweenie midnight shows in the first hours of October 5 will receive a limited edition Frankenweenie print using an original sketch by Tim Burton. While supplies last.

From creative genius Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas) comes Frankenweenie, a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous.
A stop-motion animated film, Frankenweenie, will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience.

Presented by Disney, Frankenweenie is directed by Tim Burton and produced by Tim Burton and Allison Abbate, with Don Hahn serving as executive producer. John August wrote the screenplay, based on an original idea by Tim Burton.

The IMAX release of Frankenweenie will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX 3D Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX's customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

Dark Shadows trailer #2

It's a little campier than the one they released just days ago, if you missed it you can see it here.
The entire film seems to be heavy in the camp department, which is not surprising seeing as Tim Burton is helming the picture, but the original Dark Shadows soap opera was not this campy.

Warner Bros. has released a revamped trailer for Dark Shadows, just days after the original trailer debuted. Take a look at some new footage from director Tim Burton's soap opera remake, which features a cameo appearance by rocker Alice Cooper singing 'No More Mr. Nice Guy', and Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) mistaking him for a very ugly woman.

Dark Shadows hits theaters May 11, 2012.

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles. Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth's ne'er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger's precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David's new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

Dark Shadows releases Character Posters

Warner Bros. has released nine character posters for director Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, which debuts in theaters May 11, and boy are they colorful.

Dark Shadows Trailer

Have you been sitting on the edge of your seat like I have for this movie? I'm not old enough to have seen the soap opera in it's original run, but that doesn't make me any less excited for this movie, and now Dark Shadows has released a trailer!

The Complete Original Series

Before ‘Twilight’ and ‘True Blood’ There Was the Gripping Saga of Vampire Barnabas Collins – It Rises Again on May 8, 2012, in An Extraordinary 131-DVD Box Set Featuring 1,225 Episodes

Director Tim Burton’s Hugely Anticipated Reimagining Hits Theaters Nationwide In May 2012 Starring Johnny Depp As Barnabas Collins

The vampire romance is one of today’s hottest genres in movies, television and novels, from the Twilight and True Blood to The Vampire Diaries, Underworld and Interview With the Vampire, but it all started with DARK SHADOWS, the ABC daytime series that brought tormented hero Barnabas Collins into the homes of devoted fans every weekday for five years. Now, in an unprecedented event, the entire series – 1,225 episodes on 131 discs – will be released in a single deluxe set. On May 8, 2012, MPI will release DARK SHADOWS: THE COMPLETE ORIGINAL SERIES in a custom coffin shaped box with bonus, in-depth interviews and other video extras, a commemorative booklet and more. The SRP for this collector’s set is $599.98.

The creation of Dan Curtis (The Winds of War, The Night Stalker), DARK SHADOWS premiered in 1966 as a unique series in TV history – a gothic daytime serial set in a forbidding, mist-shrouded Maine estate inhabited by a wealthy extended family as well as ghosts, demons and, most frightening of all, vampire Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid). For five years, 200-year-old Barnabas and his Collins family relatives made their way through hauntings and possessions, jumped through time, mysterious parallel worlds and were the victims of other eerie events. Add in a vengeful witch, a horrifying werewolf, a count with mystical powers, a female doctor obsessed with Barnabas and young, beautiful women encountering love and other dangers – all framed by haunting music – and you have a series that became a nationwide cult sensation.

Now, 41 years after the series went off the air, the cult continues to flourish. DARK SHADOWS has spun off novels, audio dramas, feature films, a Grammy-nominated hit song (“Quentin’s Theme”) and soundtrack album, DVDs, television reruns and regular fan conventions attended by original cast members. On May 11, 2012, director Tim Burton’s hugely anticipated reimagining of the show will hit the big screen, with lifelong “DS” fan Johnny Depp portraying Barnabas Collins. Original series cast members Jonathan Frid (Barnabas), Lara Parker (Angelique), David Selby (Quentin) and Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie/Josette) make cameo appearances in the new film.

DARK SHADOWS: THE COMPLETE ORIGINAL SERIES includes more than 100 bonus interviews with the actors and production personnel – its cast included Kate Jackson, Oscar nominee Grayson Hall and Hollywood Golden Era movie star Joan Bennett, plus a 96-page booklet with photographs and episode summaries, DVDs of bloopers, behind-the-scenes documentary and cast reunion – all housed in a coffin-shaped box.

DARK SHADOWS truly lives on in this remarkable release sure to thrill longtime fans and create a new generation of enthusiastic followers.

1:15-2:15 20th Century Fox: Prometheus and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter...in 3D— 20th Century Fox and WonderCon attendees have two big reasons to celebrate the year's event. Sir Ridley Scott, director of Alien and Blade Runner, returns to the genre he helped define and he'll be live on stage to tell you all aboutPrometheus, his epic and groundbreaking new mythology. Sir Ridley and co-screenwriter Damon Lindelof will screen some exclusive footage.

You'll also meet this country's 16th president and first superhero -- Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which explores the secret life of our greatest leader, and the untold story that shaped our nation. The filmmakers will screen special footage, which presents the visionary work of producer Tim Burton and director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted), who bring a fresh and visceral voice to the classic portrayal of the bloodthirsty vampire, while imagining Lincoln as history's greatest hunter of the undead. Ballroom, Third Level

As awesome as that announcement is, where the heck is Alan Tudyk. Yeah, yeah, I know he's not the actual star of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but he's fantastic on panels. As of right now none of the stars of either movies are set to be there, but there is still time so that could change.
