July 12, 2016 – This San Diego Comic-Con, Titan Comics brings its biggest ever offering of exciting debuts, SDCC variants and special appearances from a host of creators including; NBA all-star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Mycroft Holmes), Torchwood’s Captain Jack himself, John Barrowman (Torchwood); Doctor Who actor, writer and director Noel Clarke (The Troop); comic writers Paul Cornell (Third Doctor),George Mann (Dark Souls), Cavan Scott (Ninth Doctor, Vikings), Si Spurrier (Eleventh Doctor), and Rob Williams (Eleventh Doctor), plus many more phenomenal talents from the comics industry.

NBA All-Star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is set to make a very special appearance on Thursday July 21 at SDCC to debut his all-new comic book, Mycroft Holmes and the Apocalypse Handbook. This hotly anticipated issue #1 launches at the show two weeks before general release with an exclusive SDCC variant cover by series artist Joshua Cassara (New Avengers, The Troop) – only available to purchase at the Titan booth, #5537. Fans will get the chance to meet the sporting legend at a very special panel on Thursday July 21 at 12pm (room 5AB), where Kareem will be discussing his unique approach to the elder Holmes brother with Joshua Cassara and Titan Comics Senior Editor Andrew James. Each audience member will receive an exclusive show art card. Then, straight after the panel, at 1.30pm (Autograph Area, AA02), Kareem and the creative team will be on hand to sign copies of this special convention edition of issue #1.

Titan Comics is also thrilled to take SDCC attendees behind the scenes of a major new comic series, Torchwood – based on the hit TV show, written by superstar sibling team John Barrowman (Arrow, Torchwood, Doctor Who) and Carole Barrowman! Day Two of Comic Con opened with high energy, even though there was little sleep to be had. To get all of the signings on the agenda, meant camping out. A lot of people camp out, for many different reasons. Some to get into Hall H, some for Ballroom 20, some just to get onto the floor for the exclusive and things to be had there, and there are some who camp out for signings. Day 2 of Comic Con promised Game of Thrones and Teen Wolf as luck of the draw raffles, a chance for the second half of the Penny Dreadful signing and so much more.

WB usually is the first to open up their signing raffle. Gone are the days of camping around the WB booth for the signing lines to open, which I am completely grateful about, but the luck of the draw raffles still aren't a favorite, especially not if I'm camping out overnight. For the more in demand things, it means choosing between favorites, because you'll only have one shot. Can you get in line a second time, sure. But will your favorite thing still have wristbands left, that isn't so likely. Friday the WB offered iZombie, The Originals, The 100, Game of Thrones, Mike Tyson Mysteries, Batman: Assault on Arkham, and Banshee. If you think the choice is tough, just wait until you see Saturday's line up.

Fox also does their ticket pulls in the morning, but an hour or so later, so there is plenty of time to get from the WB line over to Fox. Fox is also nicer, as if you don't win, there's a chance to draw for a lesser in demand property, so a really good chance that you'll get atleast one signing. Also with a slightly shorter line, there is a chance that you can jump back in line for another chance at a signing or a second one, which ever the case may be. Friday, Fox offered the following signings: Archer, Bob's Burgers, Bones, Brickleberry, Teen Wolf and Wayward Pines.

Rather than waiting for the email of fate, I headed directly to the Entertainment Earth Booth to see if I would be one of the lucky few to meet with the delectable Harry Treadaway (Dr. Frankenstein) and series creator, writer and executive producer John Logan. They ran the same process of handing out stickers, but were much more organized. The entire Museled staff got into the signing, but one member was stuck in Hall H and missed it. Harry was a little overwhelmed with Comic Con. He was warned of the masses, but wasn't quite ready for the actual thing. John Logan had plenty to tease, but other than basically promising to knock our socks off with the new season by going further, darker and bigger than last season he didn't give much.

Between signings, there was much to see on the floor. The guys and gals over at AMC's Walking Dead booth are pretty good. As hard as we tried to get the walkers to break character we couldn't this year, but it was plenty fun trying.

Teen Wolf was up next. I'm not sure that there is a more fun or energetic cast signing. Most of the cast was present, all except Dylan O'Brien to the chagrin of many. Tyler Hoechlin was as charming and flirty as ever, and he and Holland Roden were equally impressed that not only had I camped out, but that I looked awake and put together. Can I just say how beautiful Holland is? Well, I just did and she's absolutely flawless. And Tyler Posey. What can we say about the charismatic and silly Tyler, other than the guy cannot make a normal face if he knows your taking pictures.

MTV was also doing some individual and couple signings for the Teen Wolf cast on both Friday and Saturday, but the Fox signing was the only way to get most of the cast. With the morning signings out of the way, it was time to head into some press rooms.

The Maze Runner has been at the top of my every list since it was announced. Not only is it a really good book, but the casting seems pretty close to perfect. The talent levels are through the roof, so unless the screenwriters totally botch the story, the movie is going to be pretty brilliant. I'll post the video from the Maze Runner in a later post.

Another property brought by 20^th Century Fox was The Book of Life. This is the Guillermo Del Toro animated piece. If you've never heard Guillermo talk about anything, he's a very passionate person, and his level of passion just about goes through the roof as he talks about Mexican Cinema. Writer/director Jorge Gutierrez was charming, Christina Applegate spoke of her joys of voice work since she doesn't have to bath or get prettied up, and Channing Tatum didn't have much to say, which no one really minded because he's Channing. Ron Perlman laid down some pretty hilarious sound bites as he asked Christina Applegate if she said Vaginal (she said Magical) and was just his perfect Ron Perlman self, fuck yous and all, making the press conference anything but boring.

Press conferences completed, it was a sprint to get to the last two signings of the day, Game of Thrones and Outlander. Taking pictures at the WB signings prove to be nearly impossible, I'm just not that slick, but chatting with the cast is always simple. Due to the time scheduling Natalie Dormer did not make the signing, which was a bummer, but Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams did make their Comic Con debuts. Gwendoline Christie was absolutely stunning, and very funny. But my favorite was the flirtastic Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who hilariously apologized for not handing me the award at the MTVu Fanfest, and followed it up with some audacious comments about a Chuck Palahniuk pin Chuck's publicist had pinned on me.

With barely time to breathe after the Game of Thrones signing it was time to head over to the Outlander signing, which I barely made. The tickets were done via a draw over the previous day and that morning, but not an advertised thing. Many people had no idea even that the draw was happening. Most booths give an 11x14 or 12x20 poster, but not Outlander. They did a thick 14x6 poster that couldn't be rolled without destroying. On hand for the signing was Ronald Moore (Executive Producer), Diana Gabaldon (Author/Writer), Sam Heughan (Jamie), Caitriona Balfe (Claire), Tobias Menzies (Black Jack Randall), Graham McTavish (Dougal) and Lotte Verbeek (Geillis). While Caitriona is absolutely gorgeous, Sam Heughan surprised the most. He's extremely soft spoken, and blushed easily enough. Outlander has to be one of the most anticipated shows of the season. The pilot is fantastic, and if you're of the mind set that Sam Heughan is too good looking, too pretty, to play Jamie he'll change your mind in the first scene he's in.

San Diego Comic Con officially opened up today, and it was a mad house on the floor. The lines for Hall H were long, and only set to continue to grow as the con progresses. We hit the floor bright and early. Lionsgate still does their signing tickets old style, by passing their bracelets out bright and early for the signings, which is both a blessing and a curse. Without much trouble Expendables 3 bracelets were snagged. No need to insert jokes, the cast is filled with many action hero classics, and one of our celebrity crushes Kellan Lutz, so its a must see cast.

Entertainment Earth brought some of the cast from Penny Dreadful to SDCC, and in a stroke of pure genius and maybe slightly twisted mastery, they conducted their signing tickets all online. Brilliant to not have the masses clamoring to their already packed booth to get tickets, but with the overworked internet in the room, many winners weren't told of their status, and those who did win had to track down the booth worker with their stickers, which sounds like an easier job than it was.

Entertainment Earth not only allowed pictures to be taken during the signing, but they also took overflow. So even if you didn't win you still had a chance to get up close and personal. I was lucky enough to receive my email confirmation, but opened the email with trepidation as everyone around me hadn't won. With a screech of elation I rushed off to claim my winnings. Josh Hartnett and Reeve Carney were the cast members signing, and although an editor wanted me to ask Josh why would ever turn down the Superman, Batman and Spiderman, there was nothing but love for the actor. The reason he didn't put on tights were the farthest thing from my mind as he sat next to the man who he just shared a very steamy kiss with on a recent episode of the smash hit Penny Dreadful. Needless to say both Josh and Reeve were fantastic, and although we couldn't get our stuff together for our picture (Museled Photographer Chelsey is lovely but she scares us all a little) the pair did sign a gorgeous tarot card box.

ABC brought a whole freaking castle that is loaded with good stuff. Not only are there hotties outside, inside there is Mr. Gold's shop where you can collect pins for a chance to win some signings (including one for Once Upon A Time), take a Lost picture, and try out for the new reality show The Gauntlet. It's great and all, but there is an annoyingly long sing along for Galavant. Now, I'm very excited to see Galavant. It's reminiscent of Monty Python's Holy Grail, but the singing is dreadfully long, the singers inside are kind of awful and just a touch rude.

 
I did manage to make it over to the Monster/EverAfter High Booth. As normal the booth is full of all the gorgeous dolls from both of the lines. I managed to snag a few of the exclusives on preview night so I can safely go home to my demanding seven year old. The Monster High dolls have been on my must list since the first year they were introduced with the special edition Black and White Frankiestein. Normally these dolls are just the prettiest things, but this years Manny Taur and Iris Clops are probably my least favorite from over the years. However Ever After High came out swinging for the fence with their Cerise Wolf exclusive. She is beautiful from the bottom to the top.

The next stop was to see the cast of the Expendables 3. Kellan Lutz, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Wesley Snipes and Patrick Hughes held down the fort. The rest of the cast was not there, and pictures were next to impossible during the hustle and bustle, though Kellan did try to sneak pictures in between his chats with Wesley Snipes. I didn't bite though, I have plenty of pictures with him, and there were just too many people. The poster they gave was a bright neon style graffiti affair, and overly large. Seriously larger than most of the poster tubes on the floor. Although the cast of Mockingjay aren't at Comic Con this year, the Lionsgate booth does have a pretty cool hologram, you know so you don't forget about their hugely popular property.

During SDCC I always try to give blood during their big blood drive, and normally a few of the Museled crew get drug along to donate as well. This year was no different. Not only is it a great thing to do, but there is always some great swag. With True Blood ending it may be the last year to get a True Blood blood donor shirt. They gave out “True to the Last Drop” shirts, along with rubber bracelets, comics, snacks and wrapped our arms in True Blood branded wraps. Headed over to the Hyatt we spotted some of the Gotham Uber cars, and one True Blood Wrapped Truck.

We finished up the first day of Comic Con over at the first MTVu Fanfest. I honestly didn't know what to expect when I headed over to Petco. Passes and lanyard in hand I was thrust into the fair like atmosphere. There was plenty of snacks to be had of the slider variety, there was an inflatable high jump for those daring enough to do it, and plenty of fun giveaways. Vanessa awakens in Malcolm's study. She speaks about the death, and how in some places the dead are prettied up and photographed for men’s spank banks. As she almost purrs about it, Malcolm asks if she remembers her episode the previous night. She’s been asleep since. She asks who dressed her, if he did like he did when she was a child. But he never dressed her, he was always away. It’s Mina inside her, as she talks about her mother weeping over him, missing him as he whored around the continent. She wants to hear about those women, but not Mrs. Ives, she knows all about him. He tells her to stop, but she continues talking about his screwing the natives, making his son screw them along side him even though he didn’t want to, but Peter did anything to please his father. Things start flying about the room, as Vanessa gets out of control, and Sembene is forced to come in and pimp slap her. He carts her off as Malcolm looks over the damage.

Vanessa awakes again. She stares at herself in the mirror, apologizing to Dr. Frankenstein that he has come all this way for no reason. Vanessa claims to be well, but Frankenstein isn’t buying. He checks her vitals, asking about her lip. Sembene’s sedation is a little rough. Everything looks good, as Frankenstein presses her for more information as to what happened downstairs. She doesn’t know what happened, there is usually violence when she goes away. Neither favor an asylum, thankfully. Eva hungers, and notices Frankenstein’s clean hands. She wonders if that is why she’s a virgin, and she tries to pull Frankenstein into her trap. He is scared, and pulls away. She asks if he knows a greater demon. His examination is far from over he tells her as he leaves.

Malcolm has called a meeting. It’s happened before, but he isn’t sure why they happen. Frankenstein asks if she experienced sexual trauma, if she’s intact. Malcolm has no clue. Vanessa has a deep seated psychosexual projection that is manifesting in shame. Malcolm only knows that she was out with a man that evening. Frankenstein reasons that Vanessa’s episodes are caused by guilt over some sexual act. As he touches one of her tarot cards a spider crawls over his hand. He drops the card and the table is swarming with spiders. Malcolm and Frankenstein look at it in horror as the spiders pour onto the floor. Vanessa’s screams pierce the air.

She continues to scream as Ethan arrives. Malcolm meets hi9m at the door, and Ethan is armed. They find Vanessa on the floor, stripped down to her undergarments, grunting. She asks for forgiveness, that she’s not herself. Vanessa is fighting the thing inside for control. She asks him if he fucked Dorian, or if Dorian fucked him. She concludes that Dorian fucked him, and asks if he enjoyed it. She tells him that they’ll Brona, that she already knows the boy. He screwed her too as she bled, tells him to have her show the pictures. Malcolm calls for the sedatives.  It takes three of them to sedate her as Ethan looks on in shock.

Ethan asks what’s wrong with Vanessa. Malcolm tells him that she’s possessed by the Devil, or a devil. Her problem is outside of Frankenstein’s normal scope of practices. Based on the Egyptologist, Malcolm thinks that she’s fighting an incarnation of Amon-Et, and if she gains control it will be disastrous unleashing untold horrors. Ethan wants to get a priest to exercise her, but Frankenstein says that it would do them as much good to get the a witch doctor, or an old gypsy woman. They cannot bring anyone else in. For now they have to keep her alive and let her fight this thing. She told him once that in the end they only have the people the trust, and she trusts them. Malcolm asks Ethan to stay, and he will. He asks if Malcolm understood what Vanessa said to him at the end in a whisper, she said let me die.

Vanessa fights the thin g inside of her, and the men try to keep her sedated. They bathe and care for her, and nights pass. Only her screams of anguish pierce the night. She rocks, and fights, and it takes a toll on all of them as they struggle to help her. Frankenstein finds solstice in drugs he injects into himself. Ethan sits by her bedside. Vanessa awakens, normal sounding. She’s been sleeping for the most part of a week. He tells her that she did wake up and got feisty on occasion, which does not surprise her. He hesitates at handing her a glass of water, and she promises not to hurt him. Frankenstein had suggested restraints, and she smiles at that. Vanessa confides in him that it feels like an animal scratching at her insides trying to get out. She doesn’t remember everything, but she knows that he’s been kind. Everyone has been, but not like him. Vanessa admits that she might have fallen in love with him, and he tells her that she still might. She tells him that when the moment comes, to pull the trigger, the other won’t be able to. He will send her to heaven, but admits that he believes in the other place more, a place where he was flung when her cunt of a God cast him out. Ethan turns dark before her eyes. It’s not Ethan, but her old friend. She doesn’t like this game, she doesn’t want to give him a name again, forever hiding his face in another. He draws close, telling her his biggest fear is greatness never achieved. Vanessa will not surrender. He threatens to kill her, and she’s ready for death. He’s sure she can’t resist him forever, but she’s willing to try. He threatens to kill everyone downstairs, and she will not submit, because her soul would still be her own. The darkness wants her to be his demon bride, the mother of his children, ruler of his world where there is no more pain because there are no more hearts to eat. Together they could conquer god and rule over his throne. Vanessa falls into his kiss, listens to his heart’s sweet music as Sembene sits outside her door.

Ethan isn’t in the room at all, he’s in Malcolm’s study, twirling Brona’s necklace. Malcolm asks again about his proposition to go to Africa, and Ethan wonders if he’s trying to relive his glory days. Malcolm isn’t running from his past, like Ethan is though, and he isn’t ashamed of it. Ethan delivers a low blow, pointing out Peter’s death was his fault. Malcolm asks if Ethan knows why he must go to Africa, but Ethan has a case of cabin fever and doesn’t care. He tells Ethan how he found his son nearly eaten away by insects, and placed the body for safe keeping but had to continue his quest. He tells himself that he’s going back to bring his body home, but not even he believes it.

Vanessa’s shrieks interrupt, as she scratches the walls until her fingers bled. She goes into another trance, contorting. Her flesh is ripped into, and she tries to scratch off her own skin. Malcolm asks that she be restrained before she kills herself, and they sedate her once more.

Frankenstein sedates himself with morphine. He tells Malcolm its an addiction. Malcolm leaves him, but Frankenstein is not alone. Proteus lurks outside. Ethan reports that Vanessa is asleep, it’s the best thing for her. Frankenstein admits that for all their efforts they may still have to let her go. He asks Ethan his beliefs, he himself believes in everything but God. Ethan doesn’t think that Malcolm is being completely honest with them. He knows that Malcolm wants her to live, but not why. Frankenstein reasons that she’s like his daughter, but Ethan knows that’s not the true at all. He tells him that the saddest thing he ever saw was the Indian wars, how they white washed the Indians, took their identities from them. The worse was when one of these children would make it back to their tribes, they forgot their stories, their language and were outcast. These children did not fit into either world, like Ms. Ives. Frankenstein asks what they did, and Ethan tells him that they roam and they die. Frankenstein goes to look out at his creature again, and notices that its snowing. He asks Ethan for a favor.

Ethan teaches Frankenstein how to shoot a gun. He’s a very good teacher, or Frankenstein is a natural. Frankenstein hits all of his marks. He tells Ethan to play too, and Ethan fires with flare. Sembene breaks up the fun, since Malcolm is inquiring about the noise.

Another bout of hysterics on Vanessa’s part leave her restrained. It further brings down the hopes of the men. Ethan cooks a mighty fine meal, bringing a plate to Sembene who sits on sentry duty. He picked up the skill on the road. Ethan asks for his story, but Sembene claims to have none. He thinks that Malcolm saved his life and he owes him, or Sembene says that he saved his and now he’s responsible for him. Ethan believes it’s the same thing, and they’re all responsible in the end, even for Vanessa. Sembene thinks that they should call a Priest. He believes in everything.

Vanessa stays chained. Malcolm sits by her bed. He goes to her, trying to reach her. He knows she’s somewhere inside. He asks if she can hear her, and she answers him. He knows that she’s in a special place, somewhere between life and death, just like Mina is. He asks her to reach out to Mina, it may be their only chance. She sees that he allowed this to happen, just for this chance. She breaks down into tears over Malcolms cruelty, as he coos for her to find her. Ethan puts an end to it, and get Malcolm away from her. Ethan wants it all to end now, and to get Vanessa a priest. Frankenstein knows that the battle is over, that she is dying, and they need to accept that. They should give her what she wants. Then they should get a catholic priest to deliver last rites and exorcise her so she can lead them to Mina, Malcolm reasons. Frankenstein cannot believe his callousness. Ethan only sees that he has a girl dying inside, telling Malcolm that if he wants a daughter, she’s in that room. Malcolm orders the priest. Ethan swears that if Vanessa is right, if he allowed all of that to happen to manipulate her that he will rip his throat out.

Malcolm asks Frankenstein to give him something to stay awake. Frankenstein gives him a cocaine durative, but it makes an increase for narcotics. There is so much he doesn’t remember because of drugs, his son died because of him. Peter asked once for him to name a mountain after him, and after he died, Malcolm didn’t give him a second thought when he named mountains. He has no shed of decency left.

The priest has arrived. Malcolm tries to give Father Matthews the low down on Vanessa’s condition, but he doesn’t need to hear any of the whys he’s there, only that she was baptized and in good standing with her church. Malcolm admits that he wanted him to do more, that she may be possessed, but Father Matthews tells them that exorcisms are strictly forbidden without permission, and none will be granted. He can do little. Frankenstein is outraged, he tells the father to deliver the last rites and get out. He heads upstairs to do his duty and nothing more. Malcolm leads the way.

Vanessa is in the same grunting trance state she has been in, and Father Matthews is shocked to see it. Malcolm urges him to do what he came to do, and Ethan gets him a chair up close to Vanessa. Father Matthews prepares as Vanessa watches him warily. She is a faithful catholic, and when he asks for her confession she talks about other Matthews she knew and lured in. Vanessa springs forward biting a chunk from the Father’s cheek, and throwing off her shackles. She jumps to the ground on all four, stalking towards them. She leaps onto the wall above, and towards Malcolm. Ethan restrains her, telling the others to leave as the windows break. They scurry out. Ethan draws his gun on her, but he can’t do it. He begs her to come back, and she begs him to do it, to kill her. He places the gun against her chest, and he gives her exercises the demon himself with the help of Brona’s medallion. The deom fights to keep possession, but Ethan prevails. Vanessa falls to the ground.

Ethan walks out of the room, down the stairs and out of the house.

Malcolm finds Vanessa sleeping peacefully in the bed.

Vanessa hears voices, she sees sites of Mina. Plays and blood. Vanessa awakens. She goes down to Malcolm in the sunlight. He tells her that she should be in bed. She knows where Mina is.

Series Averages Almost Five Million Weekly Viewers And Secures Biggest Sampling For Network Ever

The network has given an expanded order of ten episodes to the series. Starring Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Eva Green, PENNY DREADFUL will go into production, and will once again shoot on location in Dublin, Ireland for a 2015 launch.
