Hemlock Grove S03E10 "Brian's Song" Recap

Shelley writes a good-by letter to Pryce in which she talks about his funeral ceremony and how she hopes to see him again someday. Roman comes into the institute asking for Pryce to help him with his gunshot wound and is shocked to learn of Pryce's death. No vital organs have been hit but there is a lot of blood coming out of the wound. One of Pryce's subordinates removes the bullet and injects Roman with a clotting agent. Roman buries Peter's body in the wood and texts Annie from his phone to say that the job is done. He returns home and finds the baby is still missing, meaning Annie still has her. He arranges a meeting to try to get Nadia back but when Annie shows up, she sees Roman drives up and leaves without meeting him.

Peter meets Destiny in a limbo state. She encourages him to dig his way out or else Roman will keep killing people. Peter wakes to find several wolves digging him up and pulling him out of the hole. They all gather around his body to check if he is okay. He passes out again and then reawakens to find the wolves have all left.

Roman returns to find Olivia waiting for him but to weak to overpower him and steal his body. She tries to get him to team up with her to take Annie out but he refuses to help her, wanting for her to finally die for all she has done to him. He throws her out of his house and locks the door.

Annie returns to her home and finds an injured Peter sleeping on her sofa. She patches him up and he insists on being the one to take Roman out. She discourages him from turning against the moon and says that he should simply focus on getting his strength back. If he turns against the moon again, there will be no coming back from it. Annie later finds several voicemails left by Olivia, all asking to meet, while Roman discovers Peter is gone from his burial spot in the woods. Peter calls him and Roman tries to reason with him, saying he only defended himself and simply wanted to go home to Nadia. He says he doesn't want to kill anyone anymore and just wants his daughter back, after which they can all go their separate ways. Peter says Nadia would be better off dead than be with him. Peter reminds Roman that he killed Destiny, to which Roman reminds him that if he had just been honest with her about Andreas then none of this would've happened. Peter refuses, saying he will kill him at the next full moon.

Roman tasks the staff at the Godfrey Institute with finding Nadia and killing Annie in the process. Annie visits Olivia and reveals that she tracked down what happened to Dmitri, Annie's father. It's revealed that Olivia had actually killed him, which she excuses by claiming that she killed him as a preemptive move before he could kill her first. She then bites Annie and feeds on her until she passes out.

Roman returns to Godfrey Manor, ready to reclaim it as his own. Annie had left baby Nadia with Shelley, who doesn't know that the baby belongs to Letha and Roman, instead thinking it belongs to Annie instead. Aitor returns to Shelley and the two reconcile their relationship.

Olivia brings Annie to the Godfrey Institute and demands that one of the doctors make the transfer of her consciousness into Annie's body. The doctor manages to sneak a pick to unlock Annie's restraints so she can sneak into a holding chamber. Olivia threatens to kill the doctor if he doesn't open it so he gets to work trying to type in a manual override. While he works, Annie begins putting some gas on and says her goodbyes to Olivia before sticking a scalpel into an electric socket to spark a fire that kills her. Olivia screams in horror at the loss of her opportunity to stay alive. She cradles Annie's charred corpse when the chamber is finally opened and rambles to herself, falling deeper into her delusions, even biting a chunk out of her own arm before collapsing dead.

The full moon hasn't come yet but Peter breaks into Roman's home, changing into a wolf and attacking him. Roman is distracted by a vision of Destiny and as a result, he and Peter fall out a second-story window. Roman finds he can't move due to his body being broken. He begs Peter to kill him and save him a life as a broken man, and ponders how Peter will live the rest of his life as a wolf. Peter tears out Roman's throat and then his heart.

Finally, Shelley and Aitor are shown to be leaving Hemlock Grove with Nadia, ready to start a new life together. On their way out of town, Shelley observes Peter in his wolf form by the side of the road. The camera pans to a body of water in which one of Spivak's surviving offspring is shown to be swimming.

Hemlock Grove S03E09 "Damascus" Recap

Olivia has a dream of enjoying a feast but wakes to find that she bit herself while sleeping. Her hallucination of Ochoa advises her to use Roman as the host to transfer into. Olivia seems guilty at the prospect of murdering her sun but Ochoa tells her it is merely a matter of survival of the fittest.

Roman prepares to hunt down Spivak and has Peter coming with him. He senses that Peter is upset about something and Peter admits to having found Destiny's dead body. Roman advises him to learn to live with what has happened and to take comfort in the fact that they killed the man responsible for her death. He promises that when they come back, they will give her a proper burial but first he needs Peter to help him save Miranda and Nadia.

Olivia observes Roman leaving town so her Ochoa hallucination advises her to use Shelley as a temporary fix until she can make a permanent transfer into either Roman or Annie, as their bodies are preferable to her vanity. Shelley had taken some pills to try to put herself out of her misery when Aitor was arrested. Pryce brings Shelley to the Godfrey Institute to look after her in her time of need.

Roman and Peter arrive at Spivak's cabin and head inside armed with guns. Pryce calls and informs them of what he has determined from the research he has been doing into Spivak. His plan is to breed more creatures like himself by harvesting Nadia's eggs and fertilising them. They can kill Spivak by using some Upir venom which Peter has to extract using a needle injected into the back of Roman's mouth. Shortly after this they discover Nadia's need body in the basement. They discover that her corpse was home to one of Spivak's offspring. Roman and Peter chase after it and pour a drop of Roman's venom onto it and confirm that the substance is deadly to these creatures.

Olivia goes to the Godfrey Institute and convinces Shelley to give over her body to Olivia. Pryce is outraged by the prospect of killing Shelley but Shelley is too distraught to want to carry on. Pryce uses his last resort - showing Shelley footage of Olivia killing Norman. Shelley goes into a rage and knocks Olivia to the ground, beginning to strangle her and telling her she hates her. But she lets her up and Pryce has her escorted out of the building and forbidden from returning, seemingly unbothered about the leverage Olivia has on him.

Roman and Peter find a man that has been glued into a tub and dies when more of Spivak's offspring come bursting out of him into the pool of water. Spivak then emerges from upstairs and Roman demands to know where Nadia is. Spivak dances around the question and claims that Upirs and werewolves will all be dead soon and only his kind will be the ones to feed on humans. Peter dumps some of Roman's venom into the pool to kill the offspring in it. A fight breaks out in which Peter is forced to chase after the vial of venom when it gets knocked out of his hand and Roman begins shooting at Spivak which does little damage to him. Spivak grabs Roman up using his tail but Peter shoots at him from the side which gives Roman the distraction needed to bite him. The venom gravely wounds him, resorting him to a mere sea slug of sorts that Roman stomps out with his boot. Roman and Peter then find Nadia and leave the facility.

The delivery man comes back to the Institute and Pryce lets him in, trying to help him with the cognitive problems he is having. The man resumes his state of believing himself to be Pryce and attacks Pryce with a scalpel, shanking him repeatedly in the abdomen. Shelley finds him and tries to help but Pryce tells her there is nothing that can be done to save him. He only asks for a small favour, whispering it in her ear before dying in her arms. It's later revealed that Pryce asked Shelley to deliver a message to Randolph, the man Pryce was seeing. It's presumed that he wanted to tell Randolph he loved him.

Annie carves out a bullet so as to tip them with heparin.

Roman hires a new nanny with experience working for high-profile clients that require confidentiality. Peter asks if it's a good idea to bring someone else into Nadia's life but Roman reminds him that they can't look after him all the time without any extra help.

While Peter is out playing with Nadia at a playground, Annie arrives and reveals to Peter that Roman was the one that killed Destiny. She is honest about how things got out of control, Destiny hit him, she cracked her head, then Roman snapped her neck because he knew that Peter would never forgive him. Peter doesn't believe her until she says that she was the one that drew the cross on Destiny's forehead with her blood because there was nothing she could do to stop Roman. She gives Peter the special gullets and gun, along with a knife, saying that two bullets will be enough to put Roman down and then he must carve Roman's heart out to make certain he is dead. He also leaves Nadia with her saying to get them out of town.

Roman is running low on blood so he gets a hooker and feeds from her in an alley. Peter shoots him once but then the gun jams. Roman fights back and Peter tries to pull a knife on him. Roman then stabs him with the knife, asking how he found out. He immediately deduces it was Annie. He then bites Peter who collapses in the alleyway and Roman cries for all he has done and lost.

Hemlock Grove S03E07 "Todos Santos" Recap

The previous episode's cliffhanger regarding Olivia attacking Pryce is resolved. She did attack him in his sleep but apart from a bit of neck bruising, Pryce is alive and well. Pryce then stayed up all night to look for research and answers so Olivia can be transferred into another body before the cancer takes her life. Olivia must then decide how to dispose of Ochoa's body. She rolls his body up in a carpet and throws it into a dumpster near her building. After returning to her apartment, she watches as the garbage truck dumps his body in with the rest of the trash. Olivia ponders how they could've been happy together if he hadn't screwed everything up but then she hallucinates Ochoa as a mythical deity called Chango.

Shelley receives a large shipment of supplies at the warehouse, Rooster Poot, she has been staying. It's an apology gift from Roman consisting of including things like toothpaste, blankets, and batteries.

Peter meets with Milan, leader of the Croatians, who has decided to give Peter one last chance to stop Destiny from her vengeance quest or else they'll all be killed.

Pryce finds the Greek delivery man in his room. The aftereffects of having another conscience transferred into his mind is that he was suffering from delusions that he was Pryce himself. Pryce notes that they must continue to monitor him and study what aftereffects he is exhibiting.

Olivia continues to have visions of Chango and also learns that Aitor, Shelley's new friend/love interest has a criminal past. Shelley is enjoying sharing her new gifted items to other people in need at Rooster Poot when Annie comes to visit her and make some introductions. When the two go somewhere in private, Annie reveals that she is Shelley's half-sister from long ago. Shelley learns that Roman only just recently learned about her existence too. Annie appreciates how Shelley has a large collection of books, whereas Roman has none in his house.

Peter berates Destiny for going after Milan, claiming she is acting irrationally and makes excuses to cover up why he has been acting strange. Destiny is determined to get the truth out of Peter and doesn't want lies to destroy the relationship they have.

Olivia visits Rooster Poot to confront Aitor. He had killed someone twenty years ago but now he has been trying to clean his life up and make it worth something, which is why he does things like feed the homeless at Rooster Poot.

Pryce informs Olivia that the only way she can survive on through a host-transfer is to find an Upir that she can have her consciousness moved into.

Destiny gets one of her friends to help poke holes in the story by questioning Baj, another one of the Romani men that was with Peter and Andreas on their night out. Destiny knows that something isn't adding up and the worst part of it all is that Peter is lying to her. She has also been working with police, listening to the recording of the 9-1-1 call placed that led them to finding Andreas' body. It's Roman's voice but he's disguised it to try not to be recognised so Destiny listens to it over and over, trying to determine whose voice it is.

Annie leaves Rooster Poot and Shelley invites her to come back whenever she'd like, wanting her to meet Aitor some day and to not disappear altogether.

Peter calls Roman to meet him at a bar and says he can't keep lying to Destiny. Roman warns him that it's a bad idea and that it will ruin his relationship with Destiny but Peter seems determined that it's the best course of action.

Olivia tries to visit a man named Ben Charles and his wife, both Upirs. She hopes that one of them can serve as a host for her to be transferred into but she learns that Ben was killed by one of Spivak's creatures and his wife suffers from a congenital heart condition that could kill her at any moment. Olivia also learns about a gathering of Upirs that's set to take place in Toronto and takes the information on it so she can attend and find a suitable host.

Roman attends a board meeting at the Godfrey institute. One of the board members arrives and takes a semi-automatic weapon out of his briefcase and begins shooting at everyone. Roman and Pryce are quick to duck and hide beneath the desk but everyone else is killed. Roman then stands up and the gunamn prepares to shoot him until some security man shoot at him instead, forcing him to drop his large weapon. The man then pulls out a smaller gun and shoots himself in the head. Pryce observes a strange worm-lied creature begin to emerge from the man's head wound so he rushes the body to his lab. He removes the man's head and hooks it up to a machine that he pumps super-oxygenated blood into and tries to get a glimpse into the man's short-term memory. He deduces that Spivak got to this employee and uses a new technological program he's been developing to attempt to access the memories but they must hook another brain up to the machine to act as a router to clear the flow of images and Roman insists he be used so they can try to get some answers on where Spivak and Nadia is. Spivak had captured the man and flown him to the cabin but the man's brain goes dead. However, Pryce is able to determine that the man's eye is still working. Pryce scoops it out and realises it's a camera that Spivak is monitoring them from. The man's mouth opens and Spivak's voice begins speaking through as a sort of communication device. He taunts Roman and Pryce about their inability to find him yet and his still having Nadia in captivity.

Olivia attends the gathering of Upirs where everyone is spoken to by an influential Upir, Norville Knox, who has made a mass fortune through his work in the scientific medical field. He gives a speech on the theories he has developed about Upirs fallings sick and feeding on their own. Olivia then considers taking Norville as her new host so she will have his fortune, power, and influence.

Pryce sends orders to his staff to determine where the cabin is that Spivak is hiding in and tells Roman to go home and rest. When he returns home, he finds Annie waiting for him. She wants to say goodbye and part civilly like adults but Roman lashes out at her again. Annie expresses remorse for ever getting involved with Roman. Their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Destiny who demands that Roman tell her the truth about what happened to Andreas and confronts him about being the one that called 9-1-1. Roman realises he's at least been partially caught so he admits everything in a rage, about how Andreas got everyone at the warehouse killed so he was killed by the Croatian and Peter covered everything up. Destiny refuses to believe that Peter had any fault and continues to blame Roman for everything. She punches him in a rage so he punches her back with his Upir strength. She falls backwards onto a table, badly wounded and struggling to breath. Annie jumps and tries to help her, pleading with Roman to call an ambulance. Roman instead crouches down and caresses the side of Destiny's head before snapping her neck.

Hemlock Grove S03E06 "Pendant" Recap

Peter and Destiny are visited by some police officers who tell them that based on the calibre of the firearms used to kill Andreas, they believe that it was a professional hit. Destiny is suspicious that Nik and Bajram, criminal colleagues and best friends to Andreas, haven't stopped by to check on them.

Olivia wakes in her motel room and finds that the black marks on her skin that indicate her sickness have begun to spread.  She's visited by Ochoa who wants to help her like she asked. But Ochoa needs to be paid and so together with Olivia, they search for a way to find funds.

Roman confronts Pryce about his working with Olivia behind his back. Pryce apologises and admits that Olivia had been blackmailing him into doing so. Pryce also warns Roman to stay away from Olivia, as she is very sick now with cancer and may become dangerous as the disease continues to progress. He says they must work together now if they are to find baby Nadia.

Andreas' funeral takes place with Destiny, Peter, Roman, Annie, and few others in attendance. Destiny is perturbed that more haven't come. After everyone else leaves, Destiny cuts open Andreas' autopsy stitches and has a vision of him being beaten before he is fatally shot.

Roman visits Annie but the visit is interrupted by Olivia, who reveals their sibling relationship to Roman who promptly leaves, horrified.

Pryce visits a man that experimented on and butchered children, all claiming it was in the name of science to interrogate him for answers that will help him in his own research and search for Roman's baby. He kills the man afterward.

Olivia lashes out at Ochoa when she becomes increasingly paranoid that he or someone else might be messing with her. She then admits that she has cancer and that it is causing strange marks on her skin. Ochoa asks to see them, then removes his own shirt to reveal some scars he has on different parts of his body as a result from his line of work. The two then consummate their relationship.

Shelley visits Roman, who becomes enraged when he learns that Olivia had seemingly lost Shelley for a week and not told him. Roman then informs Shelley that Olivia is sick and will be dead soon. Roman remains furious at Olivia and throws a tantrum about his hatred for her. Shelley then insists on leaving, realising that roman is not in a state to be giving her the advice she was looking for.

Destiny begins her own investigation into the Croatians that killed Andreas and tracks down the leader, who is shown to be wearing Andreas' watch. She calls Peter and leaves a voicemail, pleading with him to come and bring some men to help her confront him.

Annie visits Roman and tries to apologise for her deception. She shares how she came to Hemlock Grove in search of her mother and that was how she learned of him. Roman will not accept her apology, confronting her for how she had a million opportunities to tell him the truth but never did. He lashes out at her, making perverse comments about how good she was in bed. The two then have angry, hate-sex.

Destiny wants to attack the leader of the Croatians but Peter arrives in time to stop her and intervenes. He tells the man to leave and feigns ignorance when Destiny accuses him of knowing the man.

Olivia wakes and finds Ochoa dead in the closet. She then realises that she was hallucinating him and that he had been dead for some time and hung up in the closet, all the while talking to herself and believing he was with her. In actuality, she had killed him when he had been saying his goodbyes to her because of the cancer impeding her brain's ability to function properly and perhaps also partially due to her not wanting him to leave. Olivia then visits Pryce and chokes him in his bed, demanding that he find a suitable body that she can be put into so the disease won't take her. Pryce then passes out due to lack of oxygen and it's unclear whether or not this is the extent of his injury or if he has been killed.

Hemlock Grove S03E05 "Boy in the Box" Recap

Pryce goes to a sex club to meet with a random man for a casual hook-up and after sniffing some drugs, has a flashback to being abused by his father who locked him in a cabinet as a small child. The flashbacks of abuse continue throughout the episode that show him being abused into his teens until he finally fought back and locked his father in the same cabinet he was always forced into himself.

Destiny leaves another voicemail for Andreas, as she hasn't seen him since he left and though she sensed it, doesn't have the official confirmation that he's dead. Peter gets pulled over on the road by some of the Croatians who give him directions on where to find Andreas' body, in case he wants it back.

Roman tells Pryce about his encounter with the creatures and Pryce lets it slip that Spivak was working with the Nazis, but since this is information he had shared with Olivia and was supposed to keep quiet, he quickly covers his mistake by claiming he'll be looking more into it.

Destiny's friends insist she carry on with her plans and go to the bridal shop to try on dresses for her wedding. They presume that Andreas is simply hung over and recuperating from a wild night at his bachelor party. Destiny doesn't stop being worried while trying on dresses and while at the store she begins to get a severe nosebleed.

Ochoa continues to spy on Shelley and report back to Olivia on her comings and goings. He also gives her a charm of his for a spirit called Chango. She later goes to the warehouse to try to force Shelley to come home but Shelley stands up for herself with Aitor by her side. He goads Peter into attacking him violently but Roman stops him. They retrieve Andreas' body and Peter later breaks the bad news of Andreas' body being 'discovered'. Pryce is finally able to escape the containment centre and pops some pills as he informs Olivia that she is infected with the disease that involves a creature growing inside of her. There is no way to surgically remove the creature because it so drastically intertwines itself with the brain and spine that attempting to remove it is all but guaranteed to kill the host. Hemlock Grove S03E03 "The House in the Woods" Recap

Roman wakes at the Godfrey Institute after Annie brings him there to be treated by Pryce. He seems to be recovering well enough but Pryce warns him to take it easy for the next twenty-four hours. Annie also brought along the body of the creature that attacked Roman and has been hunting Upirs, and Pryce is eager to dissect it. Upon further inspection of it, Pryce finds that it has similar attributes to Upirs but that doesn't make sense because Upirs do not feed from other Upirs to survive. But a tumor in the corpse reveals that some sort of experimentation has been done on the Upir to compel it to feed on other Upirs to survive.

Roman and Annie head back to Roman's home where Peter had only just learned of Roman's injury. Roman welcomes Annie to stay there for some time being and she heads upstairs in time for Ochoa, the private investigator, to turn up prepared to give over some information that will tide over Roman and Peter's search for Nadia and Madeleine while Ochoa continues to conspire with Olivia. Ochoa provides Roman and Peter with the evidence he found that would indicate that Spivak has been alive without aging for at least the last seventy years. Ochoa proposes that there is something supernatural at work here.

Annie comes downstairs and asks Roman about the book she found of Spivak's containing a drawing of a creature called the Omul Negru, also known as the Upir boogeyman. Roman is insistent about learning more and Annie suggests getting in contact with an Upir friend called Nate that would know more about it than her.

Ochoa returns to Olivia and relays another update on what has just happened with Roman and Peter and suggests that Shelley might be staying there, as he had heard Annie's footsteps upstairs but didn't see who was causing the noise. Olivia insists that Ochoa help her to break into the home so she can see if Shelley is there. Once inside, she finds a family photo with her face torn out of it. Ochoa promises to find Shelley, wherever she is.

Back at the Godfrey Institute, Pryce accidentally rubs some of the corpse's blood into his lines and he becomes infected with the virus. Immediately, his eye turns red and it spreads to the skin surrounding his eye till he collapses to the ground and begins gasping for air. Another doctor at the Insitute injects him with an EpiPen that revives him. Doctor Klaus suggests that Pryce get some sleep but Pryce remains determined to keep working.

Roman admits to Annie about why he wants to learn about this creature and how Spivak kidnapped Nadia but only says that the baby was Letha's without admitting that he is the baby's father. They reach Nate's place where other Upirs are there for dinner. Everyone must exchange pleasantries and have dinner before Roman can ask about the answers he is searching for.

Pryce's behavior is growing increasingly erratic, as he begins to set up a drum set out of various equipment from the Institute. He thinks that drumming is helping him to unlock the answers he is after and ignores Klaus' continued recommendations that he get some sleep.

Peter becomes alarmed when he finds out Andreas is planning on not only stealing some guns but some heroin too. Peter doesn't want drug-dealing going on in the family home but Andreas will not be muscled over by him so easily.

Shelley has taken up residence in a run-down building where other homeless people have taken up residence. She meets a kind man named Aitor Quantic who brings food that's past its expiration date that he's supposed to take to the dum but is still good enough to eat so that the homeless won't go hungry.

Nate is shocked by Roman's questions about the drawing of the creature resembling Spivak. He then finds another drawing and shows it to Roman, who identifies it as Spivak in his winged-reptilian form. Nate identifies it as the Jörmungandr, a creature that dates back to 14th century Norway. The mythology states that it grew large enough to wrap around the entire world and bite its own tail. It is also a sign that foretells the end of days - the apocalypse. But the more realistic interpretation of the folktale is that the large-as-the-planet creature is a collective memory of an entire ancient species that was evenetually wiped out. Only Spivak appears to have survived and he is inconceivably vicious. Roman becomes alarmed by the danger that Nadia must be in now and storms off angrily. But the party is interrupted by an attack from more of the infected Upir that intend to feed on all the party guests. Roman and Annie begin fighting them off and Nate then leads them to a barn where they can barricade themselves in.

Destiny returns home and Peter tries to ask if she is rushing into marrying Andreas, having only been dating him for four months. She interprets his concern as nothing more than his inability to move on and let go after losing Letha. Destiny later decides to perform some magic when Andreas takes too long to come home. She has a vision of some children playing together though it's unclear what the deeper meaning is, if any.

Roman attempts to run outside to get help but tries to run back when he is quickly surrounded by more of the creatures. Nate tries to stop Annie from letting Roman back into the barn and while Roman must fight one of the creatures off he discovers that the creatures are disoriented by light. Annie is able to break free from Nate's grip and let Roman back in, who then informs them of the weakness he has discovered. Roman then admits the truth to Annie about how Letha was both his cousin, half-sister, and how Olivia compelled him to have sex with Letha who never knew the truth about what happened to get her pregnant. The creatures break into the barn and Nate runs out to leave Roman and Annie to fend for themselves but he is swiftly killed outside by another one of them. Roman uses a flashlight to disorient the creatures that were trying to attack them but the battery begins to die. But the creatures are called away by the one that had killed Nate so they can all feed on him together. This allows Roman and Annie to escape.

Pryce continues his investigation while high from being infected by the corpse, all the while his online activity is being monitored by Ochoa who relays the information onto Olivia. There was one particular video that Pryce had been watching repeatedly so Olivia watches it and finds it's an infected rat acting in a strange, aggressive manner.

Hemlock Grove S03E02 "Souls on Ice" Recap

A man screws up at his job as a mortician and is fired as a result. When he goes back inside to retrieve something he forgot, he finds that his former boss is dead on the floor after being brutally murdered. This is Hemlock Grove after all, so it's probably the same monster that's been introduced in the season premiere as the one hunting down people and attacked Roman in his home.

Roman checks the spare bedroom where he had allowed Annie to stay but finds she's gone. She later reveals herself as not having left but was simply taking a shower. The two discuss the monster that attacked him the night before. Annie wants to go back to her hotel but Roman first asks her how she feeds and what she does with the bodies. She says she doesn't have to kill anyone and seems surprised that no one had taught him how to live and feed in the modern world. She shares how most Upirs work in professions that allow them to be close to blood. She herself works as an ER nurse. Peter shows up with a box of his things, having previously made an agreement with Roman that he would be able to move in and stay at his place to give Destiny and Andreas some space.

Olivia is taking care of Shelley and encouraging her to take some prescription medication. Shelley doesn't like how the pills make her not feel things but reluctantly takes the pills anyway. A man comes to visit Olivia, searching for Norman as he was a patient of his and recognised Olivia from a photo on Norman's desk.

Peter is skeptical and weary of Roman bringing Annie into all the supernatural drama they have but it shocked when Roman reveals that she's also an Upir. Roman wants to keep Annie around, as he feels connected to her and also wants to take the opportunity to learn about how to function as an Upir. Peter then calls Destiny and asks her to come use her abilities to figure out what attacked them. Destiny eats a piece of broken glass from the scene and becomes frightened when having visions of the monster that attacked Roman. She coughs up the glass shard and is visibly shaken by what she has seen and also speculates that the monster went to the mortuary seen at the episode's beginning after attacking Roman.

Olivia meets with the double-agent PI who shows her what he has found in his search for Spivak. When investigating Spivak's abandoned apartment, he found a war medal baring the name Ryan Dunbrack and upon further searching he found a photo from 70 years ago of the Ryan Dunbrack that looks identical to Spivak today. The PI doesn't know about the supernatural world so he presumes that the man is Spivak's father. Olivia then says she needs to tell the man the truth about Roman - looks like she'll be spinning some lies to turn him against Roman.

Spivak is shown to have another woman hostage in a cabin in the woods along with Madeleine and baby Nadia. The other woman attacks Spivak by stabbing him in the neck with a fork and he in turn spits his acid saliva onto her face which then melts off. Afterwards, he throws her body down into a cellar. Spivak has been experimenting on Nadia in the basement, much to Madeleine's horror.

Olivia shows the findings about Spivak to Pryce. She wants more nutrient but it isn't ready yet and Pryce's behaviour appears to be growing increasingly erratic.

Shelley tries to commit suicide by strapping a chain around a tree branch to hang herself but when she attempts to do so, the branch breaks and she simply falls to the ground.

Peter and Andreas meet with the Croatians to sell them the product. The deal goes well but afterwards, Peter is alarmed when he does the math and realises that Andreas has scammed the Croatians by tricking them into thinking there's double the amount of product then what they actually had. A specialist is brought in to verify that the product being sold to the Croatians is legitimate. He confirms that it's the real deal since thankfully he sampled part of the supply that was real.

Roman and Annie bring Destiny to the morgue so she can try to track the monster. They feed on some of the blood stored in a vat while Destiny tries to sense anything that can help them. They are able to figure out that the mortician that was killed was an Upir. This means that the monster that attacked Roman is specifically hunting Upirs.

Madeleine attacks Spivak by knocking him in the head with a candlestick. She grabs the keys so she can run outside and leaves Nadia behind, claiming that she'll come back for her before running out into the woods. She hails down a couple in a car and asks to use their cellphone. She sends a text message for help but then Spivak drives up. She wants to hide and stay away but decides to give herself over when Spivak begins playing with the couple's infant. He sees that Nadia sent a message for help and tells her to get in the car with other thinly veiled threats, tough the couple are none the wiser.

Olivia visits the man that had come looking for Norman. She tries to attack him but appears to be too weak to kill him quickly and barely feeds on him at all. She later goes to Pryce to try to figure out what's wrong with her. He gives her a glass of blood but she can't seem to tolerate it. For some unknown reason, her biochemistry is such that she is having trouble consuming blood. It's a mystery of what she should feed on.

Andreas reveals to Peter that the Tongue (the man who was in charge of verifying the authenticity of the caviar) was bought off so they could scam the Croatians. Peter is still angry at Andreas for putting their lives at risk which would've left Destiny alone without those closest to her. Andreas apologises and says that all the money he has earned is supposed to go towards building a life with Destiny.

Annie confides in Roman that she once had a family but they died due to her being immortal and them not. Destiny then comes over and warns them that the monster is still there. Roman gets the text from Madeleine, which is hard to understand as she was distressed when writing it so it's a lot of capital letters and mostly illegible. But then they are attacked by the monster and Destiny is able to overpower it by injecting it with the tool used to drain corpses. Roman then begins to suffer from a seizure and the cause is unknown.

Madeleine is brought back to the cabin and Spivak forces her to go down to the basement which she is terrified to have to enter.

Olivia returns home and finds that Shelley isn't there. She is shown to have run away.

Finally, the family that had pulled over for Madeleine are shown to be dead and frozen in their car when discovered by some local police officers.

Hemlock Grove S03E01 "A Place to Fall" Recap

A truck-driver accidentally hits a naked Peter that wanders into the road. The man gets out and tries to help him but s it's the full moon, Peter quickly transforms and the man is surrounded by other wolves. Another car rolls up and an accomplice steals the man's truck. The wolves disappear and the man is left stranded on the side of the road.

Olivia is living in a run-down motel room, seemingly cured from her former sickness. She also has Michael Chasseur tied up in her bathtub with a tube tied to him in order to drain and feed from his blood supply. She says she has a guest coming soon and it's time for him to go so she lets his blood begin to drain down the drain, presumably until he dies.

Peter goes to get a family heirloom ring to give to Andreas so he can propose to Destiny. Peter then goes to meet with Roman, who has hired a private investigator to try to track down the whereabouts of baby Nadia and Miranda, who were taken captive by Dr. Spivak in the season 2 finale. Roman must then go to a meeting with Pryce, who has been working hard on developing a new substance for feeding him and also assisting in the search for Roman's daughter.

Shelley is on trial and is also being treated by Pryce after her psychotic episode. After one court session, she is splashed by a bucket of animal blood by some protesters outside the building. Olivia hurries her away. Though she seems to be taking a more proactive role as a mother, Shelley still doesn't want to be made to live with her again once she's finished this wave of treatments by Pryce.

Roman and Peter go out for drinks, pondering the next course of action to take in their search for Nadia and Miranda. Roman also learns of Destiny's engagement. Roman spots a mysterious, beautiful woman in the bar that he decides to pursue but she disappears. He goes out back with a different woman from the bar to receive fellatio and the mystery woman appears briefly to exchange some more intense eye contact mid-fellatio before she disappears again.

Olivia enacts revenge on Pryce for denying her treatment for her cancer by making him believe that the law enforcement were about to invade the building, prompting him to destroy all his research, including the supply of goo that Roman uses to feed on. But when Pryce goes downstairs to meet them, he discovers that the only reprimand he could be facing were some fees and a warning. Pryce reluctantly agrees to help Olivia, who threatens to release the extent of his ethically questionable experiments and forever tarnish his reputation if she doesn't get his assistance in helping her find Nadia.

Roman goes back to the bar in search of the mystery woman and the bartender advises him to come back that night in case she'll return.

Olivia is revealed to be working with the private investigator hired to help Roman. She is also continuing to try to turn Shelley against Roman, but Shelley remains unwavering in her loyalty. Roman goes back to the bar and eventually re-encounters the mystery woman who finally talks to him. She has a French accent and disappears when Roman takes a call from Pryce about needing more nutrient. The supply was destroyed due to Olivia's antics and now it'll take at least a month to have more ready, meaning Roman will have to feed the old-fashioned way. Pryce also has shown to have briefly kidnapped a Greek delivery man to perform an experiment in which some online consciousness is uploaded into the man temporarily. The man is later free to go once he wakes, having no memory of what happened to him.

Roman goes to confession, admitting he's about to do things he doesn't want to. He seems morally conflicted about the violence he'll have to perpetrate in order to feed. He seems to be seeking preemptive absolution and the priest tells Roman he can't help him with such a thing. Roman acknowledges that no one can help him. Outside, Roman gives a sleeping homeless man a large bill and drives off, unknowingly being followed by the mystery woman who might be a killer herself since earlier an unknown figure was shown to be killing someone and the shots are similar to those of Roman when he's being watched.

Destiny is enjoying the bliss of engaged life with Andreas. Peter encourages her to find her happiness and acknowledges that they probably shouldn't live together anymore. They enjoy a loving moment where they swear to look out for each other. Peter then gives Andreas a ride to a warehouse at his request. Andreas has found some buyers for their recently stolen supply which will mean a large payoff for him and Peter but Peter is alarmed when he realises the buyers are some dangerous Croatin gangsters. Roman is attacked in his home by the monster that had killed someone earlier but the mystery woman emerges and saves him, chasing the monster off. She then drinks from his last supply of nutrient and introduces herself as Annie, another Upir.

Hemlock Grove S2E10 (Season 2 Finale) - "Demons and the Dogstar" Recap

Roman and Peter work to dispose of the bodies while Destiny and Miranda work on cleaning the house. Miranda is now freaked out by what she witnessed: Nadia stared at the guy and then he bled to death. She lashes out at Peter and Roman for lying to her, and calls them monsters. The group puts Miranda to bed and Destiny has a nice moment with Roman where she thanks him for saving Peter and saying she was wrong about him. Miranda doesn't get much rest though. She then begins to lactate blood.

Norman heads to Olivia's, preparing to kill her. She's still riding high on her state of mind and ready to make a fresh start with him, albeit a short-lived one. Norman asks about the meds Olivia is taking; she has stage IV lymphoma.

Pryce isn't mad about Roman killing Dr. Z, as she was becoming a liability anyway. Roman asks Pryce to dispose of the bodies. Pryce asks who they were but Roman doesn't know. Pryce eventually agrees, but Roman will have to stop meddling in his work. He tells Olivia he knows about her upir-ism and the fact that she killed Marie. He's ready to let her die a slow and painful death, courtesy of cancer, deeming this a more suitable punishment than the death he was about to bestow upon her. Olivia pleads for forgiveness but Norman's not having it. The big bad Olivia is back!

New Shelley sits with Original Shelley as she makes her final arrangements with Pryce, regarding her place of rest and seeing that Jason is tended to. Pryce administers the medicine that will end her life and he and New Shelley leave her to die in peace.

Miranda visits Dr. Spivak to get her bloody boobs checked out. Meanwhile, Destiny has visions of a snake and the Godfrey Institute, along with a man wearing a hat much like Spivak's.

Norman arrives at the Godfrey Institute and learns about Shelley's download into a new body. Norman is furious, believing Pryce and Olivia to be selfishly acting in their own interest's instead of Shelley's. Throughout the conversation, they realise that Norman rejecting Olivia may have put Shelley at risk. They rush to old Shelley's bedside and work to revive her. Norman is successful but Shelley is distraught to find she is still in her old body. Meanwhile, Pryce rushes off and discovers Olivia has feasted on New Shelley, before announcing her intentions to find her granddaughter. Shelley goes to her new but now dead body and cradles her.

At Spivak's office, we learn that he was the mastermind behind many of the events of this season after targeting her after encountering her at a blood bank. He was the one who crashed into her, sending her into Roman's life. He also was the one that caused her lactation and seems to want to harvest eggs from Nadia. Olivia arrives, ready to collect Nadia, so the two get into a physical altercation in which we see some reptilian skin through a cut on his face. Miranda tries to leave with Nadia but gets into an altercation with Anna the maid. But once Anna gets Nadia in her arms, Nadia does her freaky trick and Anna bleeds to death. Miranda calls Roman to tell him what has happened and he tells her to come to White Tower where they can be safe.

The castrating drug dealer shows up at Peter's place to demand his money. He has Peter strip down to do the same to him as the drug dealers. Destiny arrives and the drug dealer is eager to try his equipment out on female body parts. Peter is prepared to turn to save Destiny, knowing that this will kill him, but Andreas shows up and shoots the drug dealer dead. Peter and Destiny don't understand why he has a gun, let alone a silencer on it, but it's a conversation for another time.

Miranda arrives at White Tower and Roman assures her things are going to be okay and she's not to blame for anything that has happened. He gets a call and heads to the gate to retrieve Destiny and Peter from the gate guard who won't let them through without authorisation, leaving Miranda and Nadia alone. Miranda blames herself for Nadia's condition, and her guilt is worsened when they go to look at a monkey, and Nadia explodes its head.

Shelley is hysterical so Pryce orders her to be taken into a secure ward to be monitored at all times. Norman takes off to confront Olivia, with a syringe in hand. Roman, Peter, and Destiny return and find Miranda and Nadia missing so Roman orders security to search the building for them. Norman and Olivia have their face-off but it's brief, as Olivia tears Norman's heart from his body. She then texts Chasseur from Norman's phone, with a photo of Norman's body and a message: "YOU'RE NEXT"

Miranda has gone up to the roof with Nadia, believing suicide to be the best option for the two of them. Roman, Peter, and Destiny arrive, and try to talk her off the ledge. But she jumps off, and just when you thought they were done for, a reptilian, dragon-like Dr. Spivak comes flying through the air and flies into the night with Miranda and Nadia in his clutches. Roman, Peter, Destiny, Olivia, and Pryce all watch from their respective spots.

Hemlock Grove will return to Netflix for its third and final season.

Hemlock Grove S2E9 - "Tintypes" Recap

Peter's alive, but captures. He's got a spiked collar around his neck to prevent him from changing. He's being tortured for information and we get some more perspective on these lunatic baby-killers who believe themselves to be doing God's work. They know Peter knows where "the beast" (Nadia) is but he's not so keen on sharing.

Roman considers cancelling his last treatment to go save Peter but Pryce convinces him he needs to stay put and finish it. If he back out, not only will his symptoms return, but they'll come back even stronger. Roman agrees to "get this fucking thing over with."

Miranda begins to realise there's something off about baby Nadia, as if her freakish eyes weren't sign enough. Nadia spells out her name with alphabet blocks, something no infant should normally know how to do.

Olivia visits Pryce and demands to know what is going on with this New Shelley and becomes furious that he is experimenting on her children. But Pryce isn't bothered by her tantrum, pointing out her years of mistreatment to Shelley and her all-around selfishness. Olivia asks why Pryce doesn't just put together another experiment to save her. Pryce determines that Olivia has been talking to Dr. Z and warns her that she doesn't know who Dr. Z is and that they would all do well to be cautious of whatever her agenda may be. He advises her to stay the course of her treatment.

Olivia runs into Dr. Z in the hallway, who advises Olivia that death is her best solution where Roman is concerned. Roman is her enemy and must be taken out.

Destiny meets with a Romani vargulf and pays for his assistance, but more on that later...

Norman says goodbye to Leticia, giving her a large severance package. But she sees right through this and confronts him as he's about to sneak into Olivia's house with a loaded gun. She warns Norman that she will testify against him if he goes through with this. She gets Norman to hand over his weapon and lets him leave. Leticia then visits Chasseur to tell him about Norman's plans to kill Olivia. But then she is arrested for breaking into Olivia's home to swipe some prints. So Chasseur visits Norman and tells him about Clementine, adding that he wants in on killing Olivia.

In-between rounds of torture, Peter begins to force a turn against the moon in order to escape his restraints. He takes out his main torturer and struggles with the pain of the torture and being one step closer to an irreversible vargulf state. He steals a van and leaves the base, calling Destiny and telling her to meet him at Roman's.

Olivia promises Shelley that she'll be a better mother after overhearing Shelley for apologising for being a difficult child. She becomes absorbed in this new state of mind, that she seems content to die if she will be surrounded by her children and love one (Norman).

Meanwhile, Dr. Z prepares to give Roman "something to help with the pain" (we don't buy that for a hot minute) but Roman checks his phone and sees the text from Peter about Nadia being in danger, causing him to tear the line out before he can be poisoned. He makes for the large vat of blood and body parts and hooks up his IV. Roman's about to get seriously juiced. Dr. Z tries to sneak up on Roman with a syringe but when Pryce and Olivia reach the vat, Roman is gone and Dr. Z is in with the rest of the body parts.

Peter, Miranda, and Destiny are at Roman's when the Vargulf Seer arrives. He tells Destiny that he will cast the vargulf out of Peter, but it's uncertain whether Peter will survive the procedure. However, Peter is sure to die if he doesn't have it at all. Peter is angry about this intervention and gets physical with Destiny, which shocks him enough to accept the help. The Vargulf Seer tells Peter he doesn't have much time, and if he turns once more then he will be lost to his wolf state forever.

Roman's butler chides these unwelcome house guests and is shot by an arrow. The masked men break in and also kill the Vargulf Seer. Miranda and Destiny make it into the safe room while Peter fights the masked men. He's about to be beheaded when Roman shows up and unleashes an ax-wielding, juiced up ass-kicking. Destiny leaves Miranda and Nadia to see if Peter is all right and to help in the fight (why didn't she just do that to begin with?) Peter's lying on the ground wounded with an arrow in the guy. When he sees Destiny's about to get killed, he transforms into a vargulf and gets her killer off. After killing more men, Roman has to hack his way into the room since the alarm system is broken.

The rouge Order leader is about to kill Nadia, since Miranda was useless in fighting him off. But then she unleashes her brand of weirdness and the man begins to bleed from his mouth and eyes till he is dead. And so Roman holds his daughter for the first time. Now the group is alive and saved but Peter corners them. Roman tries to appeal to him but it's not working. So Roman grabs vargulf-Peter by the jaw and tears it open before reaching inside and pulling human Peter out. It's nasty and precisely what we'd expect from the show. A bloody Peter lies twitching on the ground and baby Nadia is safe for now.

Chasseur has Norman practice stabbing in the heart on a dead body. Roman's house is a bloody mess. Peter finally wakes, terrified, but happy to see that baby Nadia and everyone else are okay. Olivia sings the original Shelley a lullaby.

Hemlock Grove is available on Netflix.

Hemlock Grove S2E8 - "Unicorn" Recap

Flasback to Paris 1884, and Olivia is being held prisoner. A metal mask is removed from her and she meets the Chancellor of the Order, who releases her on the condition that she will be monitored and she must convince the other upirs to self-regulate their feeding habits. She agrees but then threatens the chancellor, reminding him that she could kill him anytime she chose to.

Peter and Roman try to bury the bodies of the masked men in the woods but the ground is too frozen to dig the holes. Roman tells Peter that he is receiving treatments to be become human. They drag the bodies back to the car and Roman fights against his thirst to keep from feeding from these dead bodies… one of which turns out to be still alive. Peter removes the mask and finds it is a woman asking for help. Peter wants to turn her in to Chasseur but Roman wants to finish her off. They compromise by deciding to question her.

Nadine the prostitute goes in to see Chasseur, accusing Roman of ripping out the throat of her abusive boyfriend/pimp, which we saw Roman do in the first episode of this season. Chasseur's interest is piqued since he suspects Roman to have been involved with his sister's disappearance.

Pryce uploads Shelley's mind to Prycilla's body. But her brain still exists in her original body. The plan is to kill her old body because this is the one that is wanted for murder. It's an emotional moment but Shelley agrees to go through with this plan eventually.

The woman's name is Sarah, who tells Peter and Roman how she was kidnapped ten years ago by a man named John Boone as a child, thanking Peter for the opportunity to finally say her old name out loud. This man thought that killing families would bring about a religious Apocalypse. Roman looks up her name on his phone and finds a missing person matching her name/address, seemingly confirming her story. Roman is now the one who believes her whereas Peter thinks it's a con, feeling no pity for her because of all the killing she has done.

Norman and Leticia use a backlight on Olivia's home and from the patterns, determine that Olivia killed Marie and dragged her body upstairs to the bathtub. They can't call in the authorities because professional cleaners have already been through and destroyed any evidence that could be used against her. Norman says he will handle it himself but Leticia says he has no idea what he is dealing with.

Peter and Roman decide to bring Sarah back to her family but Peter stabs her when she begins to reach for something. It was the right decision, since she had pulled the pin off a grenade, which Peter hurriedly threw into the woods to spare them. As Sarah dies, she says, "The Caul. You can't stop us." Peter and Roman load her up in the trunk of her car right as Sheriff Chasseur pulls up. He wants to arrest them over these dead bodies but upon examining them, a watch with a particular design catches his eye and changes his demeanour. He releases Peter and Roman and tells them to keep quiet about what they've seen or they'll end up dead, too.

Peter and Roman return home and learn from the housekeeper that Miranda has run off with the baby, along with some diapers and toys. They try to figure out a course of action but then they receive painful visions of the White Tower and masked men.

While out with the baby, Miranda runs into Dr. Arnold Spivak. He asks who she's running away from and she insists she's fine, a lie he sees right through. He advises her to call someone, saying human beings aren't designed to function in isolation. She then runs off with Nadia before her food even arrives, or at least tries to until the car fails to start.

Olivia has a fall so Pryce loads her up to get a full scan and they find that she has terminal brain cancer, with only a 20% chance of surviving.

Roman is visited by Norman, who asks about the results of Olivia's DNA test. Roman tells him it's all true, that both Olivia and he are upirs. He doesn't know if Olivia killed Marie, but he tells Norman she's capable of it. Norman decides to finally admits that he is Roman's father and that he should have admitted it a long time ago. Roman isn't interested in his apology, and does not claim him as his father.

Destiny calls Peter to tell him that Miranda has arrived with baby Nadia.

Sheriff Chasseur confronts the priest, Francis, who previously warned him about losing the Order's protection. He gets physical on Francis, showing him the watch from the dead masked person. It has the same symbol on it that is in the priest's house. Francis makes a call to the Chancellor of the Order that reveals these serial killers are a rogue part of the Order. The Chancellor isn't concerned about this threat but Francis insists that she send reinforcements. Those reinforcements that arrive bring laser points that hone in on Francis… looks like this priest won't be around anymore.

New Shelley visits Shelley and the two share a nice moment. New Shelley tells Shelley she doesn't have to die. It's a touching moment but Shelley is still determined to follow through.

Roman and Peter tell Miranda about upirs and werewolves. Destiny is annoyed and wielding a knife, but Peter convinces her of the psychic connection he shares with Roman. Peter says they're getting these dreams for a reason and have to stop these masked men. Destiny puts a ritual together that involves the three of them holding her underwater, thus giving her vision of the masked murderers, their operation, and the children they've killed. She's pushed out of the vision by one of the Order's new reinforcements. Destiny says that the Order is after a particular baby, one born with the caul. Roman is alarmed; Nadia was born with a caul. They'll keep killing babies matching their description till they find the one they're after.

Dr. Z (the Russian war criminal) tells Olivia she can be restored if she consumes the biological matter of "the unicorn," Prycilla.

Sheriff Chasseur arrives at Francis' home and finds him shot up with arrows. He's been shot in a way that missed the vital organs so his death will be slow. Francis tells Chasseur that Olivia murdered his sister and that he had protected Olivia to save the lineage of the upirs. Michael puts Francis out of his misery and then leaves to find Olivia.

Norman loads up his gun, preparing to confront Olivia.

Peter finds the lair of the cult members that Destiny saw in her vision. He prepares to shift into his werewolf state but then cult members surround him and shoot him with the same weapons they used on Francis.

Olivia prepares to feed off a sleeping New Shelley but then she wakes up and says to Olivia, "Mother."

Hemlock Grove is available on Netflix.

Hemlock Grove S2E7 - "Lost Generation" Recap

After a night of sexual shenanigans with both Roman and Peter, Miranda has a vision dream, much like the duo have had throughout the show's run. She sees a family slaughtered by men in white masks while Roman and Peter run towards her trying to stop it.

Peter and Roman are awkward around each other due to the previous night's events but Miranda is cheery as can be. She then tells them about the dream she had, after which Roman and Peter hurry off to discuss it. Roman wonders if they should tell her but Peter says it isn't a good idea, worry that she could get hurt.

Peter tells Chasseur about the dreams and the research he has done into them. But Chasseur can't go chasing dreams when there's actual crimes that he has to tend to. Peter tells him Roman dreamt it too and this gets Chasseur a bit more interested. Peter wants to go with Chasseur as he investigates but Chasseur says a civilian can't come with him. Peter warns him that these people aren't fucking around.

Norman calls Roman in to the White Tower and runs into Olivia on the way up. There they are reunited with Shelley and we're treated to another touching Godfrey sibling moment. Shelley tells Roman she missed him and he is amazed and overjoyed at her ability to speak. Olivia also gets emotional to see her daughter. Shelley fills them in and they promise to help Jason, at her request. Roman chides Olivia for her maternal behaviour, believing it to be disingenuous. Roman and Olivia get into an argument so Pryce sends them out. After Olivia leaves, Roman sneaks back in against Pryce's orders in order to tell Shelley that Olivia is as bad as ever and he won't let her work her way back in. He says he'll do whatever it takes to keep her out of their lives.

Leticia the private investigator visits Norman to update him on her findings. She has matched Olivia's fingerprints to a murder from 1965. She even ran them five different times and had another person confirm the findings. The only living witness is still alive and in Buffalo.

Chasseur visits Roman to enquire about the dreams. Roman is evasive about having any pre-cognitive dreams on home invasions and Chasseur appears to be trying to figure out if Roman may have had any involvement with his sister's death. There's a house in Ohio matching the description of this dream house. The family living there is shown with some ominous music playing, which likely means they're not long for this world.

Pryce shows Shelley his creation, Prycilla, and explains his plans to have Shelley's consciousness be transferred into Prycilla's body. Shelley is overjoyed at the thought of being able to have a normal human form.

Destiny pays Miranda a visit, having learned of her dalliance with Roman and Peter and not liking it one bit. Miranda tries to push Destiny out but upon initiating physical contact, Destiny has visions. She demands to see the palms of Miranda's hands and has visions of blood, snakes, and children. She tries to warn Miranda that she needs to get out, as she is in danger, but Miranda thinks it's just Destiny trying to get her away from Peter.

Shelley visits Prycilla on her own and Prycilla opens her eyes, blinking occasionally. She mirrors Shelley's movements before moving entirely on her own, alarming Shelley.

Olivia visits Roman as he's about to have another de-upir treatment, angry that he had her evicted from her cottage. She doesn't want Roman to go through with this treatment, he only has one left, nor does she approve of his intentions to do the same to his daughter when she is old enough. So she drops the bomb on him that Norman is his real father. This makes him realise that Letha wasn't his cousin, but his sister.

The men in masks begin their preparations to kill their next target. But the house Chasseur visited was an abandoned one. He calls Peter, believing he sent him on a wild goose chase just to get him out of town.

Norman and Leticia get to Buffalo, where the witness they're looking for is in a resident home. She's largely unresponsive, and even lives in a diaper and a wheelchair. Norman and Leticia ask about the murder of her parents and show her a line-up of six faces, one of which is Olivia. She becomes emotional and the nurse tells them to leave. But the woman gets their attention and reaches into her diaper, writing "3" on the wall with her faces. Number 3 of the faces was Olivia. Leticia wants to go to the police and tells Norman he should be prepared for the possibility that Marie is dead. Norman would rather she wait but there's not much he can do to stop her.

Shelley heads to the roof, contemplating suicide as she believes everyone would be better off if she hadn't come back. Shelley can't take this new body, as she says the girl is a person with a soul. Pryce tells her she means a lot to everyone and asks to show her something. He hooks Shelley up to a brain monitor and demonstrates how it lights up when she feels different emotions. He then shows Shelley that Prycilla doesn't have the same brain activity. She does the same physical reactions as Shelley but she is a blank slate. But after Shelley leaves, it's shown that Pryce had unplugged Prycilla's computer monitor in order to deceive Shelley. She does have brain activity and mental awareness.

Peter has Miranda go through the details of her dream again and Roman returns from another of his treatments. Peter speaks with Roman alone and they determine that the little boy in Miranda's dream plays on the Hemlock Grove's Little League team. The family is in Hemlock Grove.

Olivia meets with Galina, the evil Russian war criminal Doctor, and the two coordinate a plan for Galina to manipulate the formula to disrupt his final treatment. This would kill Roman. But Olivia would regain control of the corporation and gain custody of her granddaughter. In return, Galina wants to be in charge of the lab, with Pryce working beneath her.

Roman and Peter head out to save the day and Miranda grows increasingly suspicious of them, rightfully believing they are keeping secrets and up to something.

Leticia and Norman head to Chasseur and tell them what they have learned. He accepts what they are telling him and explains how his sister explored phenomena that defy explanation. He then begins to tell them about upirs.

Peter and Roman arrive at the home of the family in danger. It's just as they saw it in their dreams. They arrive just in time to save the day and get the boy outside, as bees are swarming his room (he is allergic). The parents load their son up into their car to get away. Peter goes chasing after a masked man and forces a change while Roman comes chasing after him with a shovel. They fight off and kill the two masked men. Miranda arrives in time to see Peter change back to his human form.

Norman visits Olivia and initiates a round of rough, angry sex, using it as an opportunity to steal some hair from her hairbrush to be analysed.

Miranda is shown to be loading up baby Nadia into the car. After what she just witnessed, there's no way this can be good…

Hemlock Grove S2E5 - "Hemlock Diego's Policy Player's Dream Book" Recap

Roman is chomping on some raw meat but has to hide it when Miranda comes into the kitchen. She's asking about the baby but his hunger is too strong so he attacks her, taking a huge bite out of her neck as blood comes gushing out. Luckily for both of them, it's just a daydream. He leaves Pryce a voicemail before returning to his conversation with Miranda. She's in a panic over why she's lactating when she's never been pregnant so he offers to send her to Dr. Spivak, the family doctor.

Peter's still locked up and warns Michael about the dreams he has that predict deaths, including one that he had last night about a kid who was underwater and a German shepherd. Michael has to let him go because the woman and her son left town so no one is around to press charges. But he warns Peter that he'll put him away if he keeps making trouble.

Olivia has another appointment with Pryce, who informs her about Roman's car. He says this is good news but is concerned about a cut on her leg from when she was shaving. He determines that she is ageing at a rapid rate and that she will only have a human lifespan. The idea of only having such a short time to live alarms her greatly.

Shelley's little friend Jason comes to visit, with his parent's cell phone in hand. She uses it to cheek her e-mail and finds all the messages from Norman. She sends him a message to say that she is okay and that trying to help her will only cause him more trouble.

Peter and Destiny meet Frieda, Lynda's lawyer. There's new charges being brought against Lynda and she's looking at ten years in prison. Peter grows enraged and throws one of her bookcases to the floor. Destiny is concerned about Peter's condition but he tells her he hasn't been changing during a bad moon and hasn't been investigating his dreams. Liar. They go visit Lynda in prison, who is sporting a black eye. Lynda says she's being transferred to another prison, and jokes that hopefully the food will be better there.

Roman is at Godfrey Medical Center and receives a note from Pryce, telling him to go the S5 medical closet. When Roman arrives, he sees a naked blonde white woman in a tank. Pryce tells him she is Prycilla, the first human to be born in an extrauterine environment. But what he actually wants to show Roman is in another room. He tells Roman it's a product from a wide spectrum of genetic experiments he's been conducting, repurposed as nutrient concentrate for upirs. Upon closer inspection, it's clear that this tank is filled with bloody body parts and fluids. Pryce pours Roman a cup and Roman immediately wants more. Pryce warns Roman that his metabolism needs to adjust but Roman knocks him aside and begins gorging himself, before getting sick.

Miranda has her appointment with Dr. Spivak, who after a random rant about Norwegians being a loathsome bunch gives her some advice on her condition. She has pseudocyesis, which causes the body to act like it's pregnant even when it's not. She says that she hadn't even been around the baby when she began to lactate but he tells her not to worry.

Destiny brews up a batch of Grandma Lumilda's psychoactive brain fog. When Lynda is en route to her new prison, the concoction that has been spread all over the front seats of the car causes the drivers to think there are spiders crawling over their faces. They stop the car and run out, leaving Peter and Destiny and her boyfriend Andreas to break her out of the armoured vehicle. Andreas has gotten Lynda a ticket to Bucharest and a Romanian passport.

Olivia is coming to terms with her mortality. She watches the clock ticking and decides to dress up and go out for a night on the town at a karaoke bar. She turns down an invitation to receive bottle service and then goes up on stage to sing a song.

Norman shows Leticia, the private investigator he hired, the e-mail he received from Shelley's e-mail. He also wants her to investigate Marie's disappearance. Leticia wants to question Olivia, the last person to see Marie, but Norman says she has been bothered enough. Norman wants her to focus on the fact that she disappeared after promising to sue the White Tower.

Miranda takes the medication she received from Dr. Spivek but begins lactating again. After calming her frustration, she visits the baby and holds her. Roman comes home and is angry to learn that Miranda mentioned the baby's existence to Dr. Spivek after he told her not to. He tells Miranda that the baby's grandmother is dangerous, hence his keeping her secret. He admits that the baby is his and that the mother died during childbirth. He tells Miranda he's grateful to her and after a bit, kisses her, and then the two have sex.

Lynda is at the airport and wonders if she'll never see Peter again. He promises to join her soon but she tells him to stay in Hemlock Grove, as she has a feeling that the people need him there and she is never wrong about these things.

Shelley is forced to hide when the neighbourhood watch comes charging into the basement. She then uses the phone to e-mail Norman, asking for help.

The woman Peter had tried to warn is on the phone, telling the person that Jack is upstairs having a bath. But the water is beginning to flood from upstairs. Outside her window, a German Shepherd billboard is visible. She sees the water on the floor and runs upstairs, finding Jack dead in the bathtub. A whitemasked man comes up behind her.

Peter gets a visit from Michael, who says that the sheriff from the town over reported that the woman drowned her son in the tub before jumping out of the window 10 stories up. Michael seems to believe Peter now and wants to work with him to stop these murders.

Post-sex, Roman listens to Miranda's pulse and considers eating her due to his hunger. After she walks off to feed the baby, Roman becomes emotional and goes to visit Pryce. He is hysterical, pleading Pryce for help to make it stop and do anything he wants so he won't have to be hungry anymore. Pryce warns him that what he wants to try has never been attempted before and might not work. Roman doesn't want to hurt anyone and doesn't want to be like his mother. Pryce assures him everything will be okay.

Hemlock Grove is available on Netflix.

Hemlock Grove S2E4 - "Bodily Fluids" Recap

Two teenagers are out for a midnight rendezvous. When the girl goes off to pee, she discovers the torn up head of Christina, which is rotting and infested with maggots. Police are called and arrive to deal with the body and investigate.

At Godfrey Institute, Norman threatens Pryce, believing him to be responsible for Marie's disappearance. Roman orders blueprints of the Institute's subbasement, wanting to uncover Pryce's secrets. Miranda comes back after her night out with Peter, leaving those details out of her conversation with Roman. He begins to feel ill, focusing in on her heartbeat and feeling his blood thirst building. He panics briefly, apologises, and heads outside where he runs into Norman. Norman asks about Christina's gravesite, saying that police found footprints in the area matching Shelley's. Norman has re-hired an investigator to look into Shelley's case.

Peter is attempting to decipher his dream when the dealers, Richie and Dom, come crashing into Destiny's place with baseball bats. They want their money back and begin beating Peter. Peter doesn't have it so they get violent, leading Peter to partially change and use his were-strength to break one of their noses. The other grabs an ice pack from the freezer, following Peter's orders, and the two run out of the house while Peter feels sick from the partial change. He even has lacerations on his abdomen.

Miranda is doing laundry when she spots a baby blanket in one of the other machines. Her curiosity is piqued but the butler interrupts her snooping to return a sock. Her curiosity is growing about the door that no one talks about. There's a coded key pad that keeps it locked. She later begins to lactate, despite never having given birth to any children.

Roman's bloodlust is shortening his temper, as he snaps at a secretary and some other employees for their incompetence. The head of HR later shows up and sends him out of the building for a de-escalation period. When going out for a walk in the town, he grows consumed by his hunger, staring at a bloody slab of meat in a butcher shop.

Sheriff Michael Chasseur, Clementine's brother, visits Olivia to ask about Marie Godfrey's disappearance. In the course of his questioning, Clementine also comes up in the conversation. Olivia lies, saying she doesn't know anything, but it seems unlikely that Michael believes her. Michael moves on to questioning Norman, asking about the nature of his relationship with Marie, and Marie's relationship with Olivia. Michael points out that Marie and Olivia had met behind his back, which comes as a revelation to Norman.

Peter continues on with his investigation into the contents of his dreams. He finds a plane company that does promotional banners but as he drives off to follow this new lead, he begins to realise that it may be too late to stop his premonition. But in true dramatic flair, Peter arrives just in time to get in the path of the White Mask man driving a car to try to hit the little boy, Jackson. The masked man gets a good look at Peter before driving off. Jackson's mother comes out and Peter aggressively warns her that someone is after her and her son and that they need to get out of town. She says she will, fully afraid of both the near-death of her son and Peter's behaviour. Unfortunately, he is later pulled over by cops and brought in for questioning by Sheriff Chasseur. The woman lodged a complaint with her local sheriff before skipping town and now Michael wants answers on various events from that took place in season 1.

Richie and Dom arrive back home and find their boss, Beaumont, waiting for them with a shotgun in hand. They don't have his money and he has one hell of a punishment for them. They're forced to take off their clothes, after which he hogties and partially castrates them. He says he's only taking one ball from each of them because he "believes in second chances."

Norman writes an e-mail to Shelley, not knowing if she'll get it but wanting to try anyway. Shelley is still being helped by the little boy with the abnormal toe. For once, Shelley has someone who doesn't mistreat, condescend, or manipulate her. They're hiding in the basement of an abandoned home next door to the boy's when they hear voices upstairs. Some junkies have broken in and begin shooting up. Shelley and the boy then hear the boy's drunk father yelling for him. The boy promises to save half his supper for her, and kisses her on the forehead before she lifts him up and out through the window. Shelley is saddened when she hears the boy's father speaking cruelly to him.

Norman visits Olivia to confront her about keeping her meeting Marie secret from him. She claims she was trying to protect him, saying that Marie had said horrible things about him and that Marie blamed Norman for Letha's death. Per usual, Olivia utilises her strong manipulative skills to get Norman back on her side.

Miranda's lactation is too weird for her to process. She packs her things up and prepares to leave but then, upon seeing that the mysterious door is unguarded, she plays with key code until she gets the right combination. She enters the room and finds Roman's crying baby. As soon as she enters, the baby stops crying and giggles at her.

Roman succumbs to his bloodlust by stalking and killing a homeless man, feeding on him after promising to take good care of the man's remaining family. Upon leaving the alley, he throws out a wad of cash to distract the homeless witnesses but on his way out, Michael Chasseur sees him.

Peter is in a holding cell in jail for 24 hours and has another dream. He shouts for help, trying to warn the police but no one will listen to him.

Roman returns home and appears emotional  over what he has done, having already wiped the blood off his face, though there's still some on his clothes. He spots Miranda's bags on the stairs and upon going up them, finds the door to his baby's room open. Upon entering, he finds Miranda breastfeeding, looking just as confused as he is to find her doing so.
