CBS Television Studios will feature the world premiere screenings of its highly-anticipated fall series BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and ELEMENTARY at Comic-Con 2012 during back-to-back panels in Ballroom 20 on Thursday, July 12. After premiering the first episodes exclusively for Comic-Con fans, panel discussions will follow with producers and fan-favorites Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and producers and series stars Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu for ELEMENTARY.

The entire film seems to be heavy in the camp department, which is not surprising seeing as Tim Burton is helming the picture, but the original Dark Shadows soap opera was not this campy.

Warner Bros. has released a revamped trailer for Dark Shadows, just days after the original trailer debuted. Take a look at some new footage from director Tim Burton's soap opera remake, which features a cameo appearance by rocker Alice Cooper singing 'No More Mr. Nice Guy', and Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) mistaking him for a very ugly woman.

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. Remember Dark Shadows? The gothic soap opera that aired in the late 60's, early 70's? No, well me either, but it features a motley crew of  vampires, witches and supernatural weirdos, which may just be the perfect material for Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's eighth collaboration.

Empire was on set, and learned a little about the 1972-set film version. The story focuses on Barnabas Collins (Depp), who was transformed into a vampire by a jilted lover (Eva Green's witch Angelique) way back in the 1700s and buried. He's just been dug up, and attempts to reintegrate with his descendants, led by Michelle Pfeiffer's Elizabeth and Jonny Lee Miller's Roger - despite the fact that Angelique is still around and still not in a forgiving mood.

Said screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, "Tim and Johnny took a long time explaining exactly why it had to be 1972. 1969 was too early and 1973 was too late. 1972 is right at the time when the hippie movement and all its peace and love is dying out and being replaced by this me-me-me generation in the '70s who are all about showing their wealth and having everything."

And maybe the best news of all is that the film will not be in 3D. Producer Richard Zanuck was adamant on the fact. "We discussed this quite a bit. We didn't want to be categorised as another 3D extravaganza, because this isn't. We have action sequences, but mostly it's interaction between characters, and that's where the humour and the story come from."
