Haven S4E6 - "Countdown" Recap
A man named Seth walks out of a store and struggles with his phone. He pauses in front of a shop window with a programmable electric display. He watches it, turns to stone, and then falls over.
Duke asks Audrey how long she can keep up being Lexie and hide her true state of being from the Guard. She tells Duke he can't tell Nathan otherwise he'll want to go through with the plan of her killing him. Duke tells her she needs to avoid Nathan as best as she can otherwise he will figure it out. Nathan arrives and Audrey tells him she can't come on the case because of some paperwork problems she needs to tend to. Duke comes with him instead to investigate Seth's death.
Jordan is making nice with Wade to try to get his Trouble to activate. Later, Vince confronts her about her plan, advising her to not go through with it but she reacts by using her touch on him.
Nathan and Duke learn from witnesses that Seth was staring at his phone as if he was receiving text messages. It would seem that this Trouble may be technologically based. Officer Tatum takes a statement from an emotional Paul Krebs regarding a theft when he is called away. Paul is upset when Tatum leaves and follows him out. Wade witnesses the exchange and leaves some cash on the counter for some portable video recorders. Tatum arrives on the scene but then turns to stone after receiving a text message on the electronic screen on his motorcycle.
Wade comes to the station to get a fireworks permit. Lexie catches him filling out the form in Nathan's office and doesn't notice that he has left a pen (a recording device) in his office. Nathan and Duke track down a principal of a school that excludes Troubled children. While questioning him, he tells them that his phone and all other electronic devices are counting down in unison. Only he can see the countdown. When it hits zero, he turns to stone. They then get word that the coach of Haven high is experiencing the same problem. Nathan and Duke head to the gym and learn from the coach that there is only nine minutes on his countdown.
Jordan has captured Vince. He tells her about the Troubles beginning before Lucy arrived. She could not have caused them since she wasn't there. He had to get Simon Crocker to kill his father-in-law to spare him some pain. Years later, he had to have Lucy help him kill Simon because he had become a monster. Vince feels that he became a monster because of how his action effected Simon.
Wade shows Jordan the video feed from the pens he has left around, including the one in Nathan's office. Jordan then tells Wade about how Trouble blood triggers his powers. In Nathan's office, Paul is complaining about his treatment when Nathan arrives with the coach. Audrey hides all the screens but he still turns to stone. Audrey watches the screen and sees that another countdown has begun. Nathan can see it - he is next. Audrey is able to figure out that Paul is the Troubled man. He was robbed and had to count to 1000, roughly fifteen minutes, and stand still. Paul's trouble leaves people motionless just as he was forced to be. Her ability to figure it out makes his realise she is Audrey.
They head to Paul's Electronics where Jordan holds them at gunpoint and tells Audrey to kill Nathan before he turns to stone. Audrey refuses and wakes up Paul, whom Jordan had knocked out. Audrey is able to talk him through the robbery and learns that a bracelet was stolen. He wanted to give it to a woman named Ellie for her birthday. Audrey tells him to to call her and ask her out. He does and she accepts. The countdown stops just a second before Nathan would have turned to stone. Wade then comes in and stabs Paul to get some of his blood and his Trouble activates. Jordan calls an ambulance for Paul and looks rather guilt-ridden. Duke goes after Wade.
Jordan heads back to Vince and releases him. Vince can already tell from her expression that Wade is activated. Jordan tells him he was right and she now feels like a monster. Vince admits that his wife found out what he had done and left him for it. Jordan decides to leave Haven, feeling that she needs a new start.
Audrey admits that she's angry at him for shooting Agent Howard because he couldn't let her go, and now she is the one that is supposed to let him go by shooting him. She says that she will continue to be Lexie because she will not lose him.
Jordan secretly meets with Wade to say goodbye. She says that her plan to end the Troubles wouldn't have worked and he thanks her for helping him get his Trouble. He then cuts her to get high off his Trouble and then kills her.
Haven airs on Fridays on Syfy at 10PM.
