Primeval: New World Dvd Review

Can't wait for the new Jurassic Park? Well, PRIMEVAL: NEW WORLD the complete series hits dvd this week, October 22 to be precise, and may just satisfy those dino cravings.

It's the North American spin-off of the hit U.K. television series, that follows a team of specialized animal experts and scientists, investigating the appearance of temporal anomalies and battles both prehistoric and futuristic creatures.

The special effects are the typical Syfy fair, but its very entertaining and worth a second look, or a first one if you didn't catch the original run on Syfy. Needless to say its a barrel of fun wrapped up in 13 episodes, perfect for a weekend of binge watching. But it is the complete series, the show was not picked up for a second season, so the story lines are not resolved.

Fans of the UK series will want to get their hands on the series, as fan favorite Andrew Lee Potts makes a guest starring run. Also Syfy favorite, and Haven actor Colin Ferguson is a series staple, along with Aunt Jenna from Vampire Diaries, Sara Canning.

The Blu-ray is choke full of special features, that really stand out, and more than makes up for the short series.  There are behind-the-scenes featurettes for the episodes, each about two minutes long, and two other featurettes: Inside the Tank and Meet The Cast. The Inside the Tank featurette is pretty great giving a behinds-the-scenes perceptive of the dinosaurs.
