Star Wars: The Purge Collection

The entire Purge collection is now available from Dark Horse Comics.

Star Wars - Purge

Purge has a post-apocalyptic feel that will appeal to those who are fond of the genre. The Jedi continue to be hunted down, and violence ensues, as the resolve of the remaining survivors is seriously tested. The Darth Vader that viewers were introduced to in the original Star Wars film trilogy was a composed, cold, calculated machine that bore little resemblance to the hot-tempered, downward spiralling Anakin Skywalker first made over at the end of Revenge of the Sith. The Darth Vader we see in Purge is one still out for vengeance against Obi-Wan Kenobi for the injuries sustained at his hand during their climactic battle. This a new perspective on Darth Vader that will excite any Star Wars fan, regardless of their familiarity with the story arc of the comic series.

Purge: Seconds To Die

In Seconds to Die, telepathic Jedi Sha Koon seeks to bring an end to the Empire's reign, having grown increasingly weary of pointless wars and the inevitable violence and deaths caused. Each new battle is a painful reminder of all the losses of loved ones and comrades. After extensive research on Sith lore and the attack on the Jedi temple, Sha Koon decides that the only way to save the galaxy is to destroy Darth Vader, and take his place at the Emperor's side. Vibrant illustrations accompany an emotionally potent plot that takes place both during and after Revenge of the Sith.

Purge: The Hidden Blade

Otavon XII is now home to an Empire Base, but the native Ovonis are none too fond of the Empire's presence on their home planet. At first glance, this story appears to have parallels to every other historical account of an evil empire colonising a new land and exploiting the land's resources with no empathy for the original inhabitants, leading to countless deaths. But when Darth Vader is sent by the Emperor to oversee the construction of the walkers, he senses that there is something more driving the Ovonis' attacks on the base. A stronger presence is sensed on the planet, sending Vader into the wilderness of the planet to find the source of it. A multitude of creatures and gadgets diversify this story, and the story has excellent momentum. Darth Vader continues to be a complex villain and the lines will be blurred as to whether or not he is worth routing for.

Purge: The Tyrant's Fist

Darth Vader is sent by The Emperor to put an end to an insurgency led by Jedi that seeks to put an end to the reign of the Empire. Having successfully hunted down several targeted Jedi, Vader seeks out Cho'na Bene, the last of the Jedi leaders responsible for the insurgency. Cho'na Bene is a colourful character, willing to take time out of the battle to drop a humorous line before commencing a fight. The struggle between him and Vader is as much a battle of wits and strategy as it is Jedi abilities. If left alive, Cho'na Bene can undermine the Empire by sparking something incredibly dangerous within the citizens of the city: hope and faith. With the feel of a blockbuster spy-action film, The Tyrant's Fist is a well-developed, complex story and an exciting conclusion to the Purge collection.
