Haven S4E5 - "The New Girl" Recap

Everyone in the field hears Lexie's confession. She refuses to kill Nathan and Duke points out that if she doesn't know Nathan, than shooting him won't work. Jordan wants to shoot Nathan anyway so Duke activates his Trouble so Nathan can escape. They catch up to him and Vince prepares to have Nathan shot anyway. Lexie then arrives, gun in hand, and threatens to shoot someone if they shoot Nathan, whom she calls "cheekbones." Duke asks to speak to Vince and tells him he thinks he can get the Troubles to end if they come to an agreement first.

Nathan and Lexie head to a Trouble-related crime scene. Duke tells Nathan that they've decided that if Lexie falls in love with Nathan, she can kill him then and end the Troubles. They find that Lexie has disappeared and gone inside the diner. A young man named Josh lost control and attacked the girl he was with, Katie. The employees locked him in the kitchen. He rants about trusting her and then slits his own throat.

Nathan, Duke, and Lexie interview Katie at the station. She says that Tyler lost control and caused a car accident by driving into a wall. Josh was the best friend of Tyler, her boyfriend. She and Josh walked away unhurt from the accident. Nathan theorises that the Trouble that hit Josh might have done the same to Tyler so they decide to go to the hospital, where Tyler is still being tended to.

Tyler says that Katie looked at him funny right before he crashed and then he wasn't able to control himself. They then begin to believe that Katie might be the Troubled one. Before leaving, Duke writes Tyler a voucher for drinks at the Grey Gull. Katie is dropped off by Officer Rafferty. Katie says, "It worked again," and then runs in front of an oncoming car, killing herself. The team realises that Katie was not the one responsible.

Jennifer brings Lexie some of Audrey's clothes. She wants to help them with the investigation but Duke doesn't want her in danger. She puts on a brave face to avoid looking as if her feelings were hurt. Jordan heads to the Grey Gull and serves herself some alcohol. Wade finds her and they begin chatting. She learns that Wade is Duke's brother and he heads out when Dwight comes in, saying he has something to show her. He brings her to a room where he has collected information on Audrey's many incarnations and the Troubles.

Lexie thinks that Katie might have been hooking up with Josh. Tyler could be the murderer, though it seems unlikely as he is paralysed. They head back to the hospital and find a dead orderly in Tyler's bed. After watching the security footage, they find Tyler taking control of the orderly's body before possessing him. The possessed orderly moves Tyler's body somewhere before returning to his bed and killing himself. It would seem that killing the body he possesses is his only way of returning to his own body. Nathan looks at Tyler's charts and finds that he has had seizures right before each possession that have been growing progressively worse each time. Duke calls and says that he is being followed by a shifty-acting orderly. Nathan tells him he the orderly is possessed and when he and Lexie find Duke, they find that Tyler has already possessed him.

Possessed-Duke tells them that Tyler's death was an accident before admitting to the other deaths. Nathan realises that he is able to possess people when using an object from them (like Duke's drink voucher). Possessed-Duke says that he is going to stay in Duke's body and locks Nathan and Lexie in a cold storage room.

At the Grey Gull, Possessed-Duke knocks Wade out after Wade tells him that perhaps this Troubled person that is on this case might be able to stay in a new body if he kills his old one. Jennifer arrives and tells "Duke" that she is leaving to go back to Boston. "Duke" then says he's thinking about leaving, asking Jennifer to go with her. She agrees but first "Duke" needs to stop by the hospital. Lexie picks the lock and she and Nathan are able to get out of the storage room.

Jennifer realises that "Duke" has been possessed and stabs him in the leg with a pen before grabbing the gun to keep him away from her. "Duke" runs into the hospital as Nathan and Lexie come out. Wade has just called Nathan to tell them what "Duke" is trying to do to his old body. Lexie is the only one that can go in, since she can't be possessed like the rest of them. Nathan gives her three minutes, after which he'll be coming in after her.

Lexie wants to get Duke's drink voucher out of Tyler's hand but "Duke" shows up and says that she'll be dead before she gets that out of her hand. "Duke" doesn't realise that by slashing Tyler's body, the blood will cause Duke's Trouble to activate, thus ending the possession. Duke regains control and Tyler is dead. Duke has all his memories from the time he was possessed.

Duke apologises to Wade about what happened. Wade wants to know what Duke's secret is but Duke says he's doing him a favour by not sharing it. Jennifer is still planning on going back to Boston. Duke tells her that Lexie will be taking Audrey's old room but there is an extra room on his boat in which she could stay in. He asks her not to go.

Wade exits the Gull and finds Jordan waiting for him. Duke wants onto the deck and finds Lexie. He says that she stepped aside, letting "Duke" stab Tyler's body. She tries to say that she was scared but Duke doesn't believe her. He says that she knew his Trouble would kick in and that she must really be Audrey. Audrey then admits that it's really her and hugs him.
