American Horror Story Recap: The Axeman Cometh
In the past, 1919, the Axeman takes his victims, every tuesday night. He makes a single plea via the newspaper, he wants some jazz music. The girls of the coven contemplate how to get the man his jazz and keep him from wielding his axe, but one wishes to rise against him. She knows the power they hold, they just need to choose to use it. The axeman reaches the house, axe in hand, no jazz is playing but an aria instead. The mouth witch sits with her cards as he approaches. She doesn't flinch as he turns off her music, but her cards tell her to expect death, and her coven awaits. The girls take down the axeman with a series of stabs.
Zoe searches through Madison's things, and finds a few oddities, but no real clues. A vile rolls out of Madison's things, and leads Zoe to a hidden door in a closet. It looks like an old storage room, and Zoe finds an Ouija board. The witches look to be a dying breed, and no one is doing anything about it. 100 years ago the house was full to the brim and now there are only 3. Zoe proposes that the girls watch each other's back, and with a shot they form their coven. Queenie doesn't like the idea of using the spirit board, but Zoe thinks its theyre only hope. The girls Witch Up, and get in contact with a spirit, a murdered spirit, but it isn't Madison, its the Axeman. Zoe has a little more recon to do.
Fiona gains a new power, reading the minds of the patients around her. She wonders if the medication brings on the new power, but all the noise puts her on edge, and she tries to leave her treatment early. The doctor stops her, and she suddenly has motherly urges, wanting to be there for Cordelia. She's also not ready to go for herself either. She still wants a great love affair.
Zoe finds some fun facts about the Axeman, the jazz nut, and they uncover the truth of his murder. Zoe wants to make more contact with the Axeman to find Madison, but neither Nan nor Queenie are willing to play again. Zoe offers the Axeman release for his help. He tells Zoe where to find Madison, and she finds enough dolls to give anyone nightmares, some china, and Madison's rotting body. How did no one smell her before? She fails to make sure no one is up there, and Spaulding grabs her.
Cordelia comes home, and she's taking to being blind well enough, shes a little touchy. She wants her flowers changed. But when her husband touches her, she sees flashes of her infidelity with the redhead. She finally sees her husband for the douchbag he is. She throws him out, her powers flaring, and he goes a running. Fiona tries to help her daughter, and she sees Fiona's secret too, the burning of Snow. Fiona tells her it was because of her actions against Cordelia, but she says she doesn't believe it.
The girls question Spaulding, but he's not afraid of the children. When he grabbed Zoe, she broke a doll over his head and got away. Zoe burns him with a spatula, and he finally spills the beans, taking the blame for Madison's death. Queenie gets a chance to use her voodoo doll abilities, but Zoe is done, knowing that Spaulding is hiding something. He's been with the witches too long.
Kyle comes home to Misty, and see checks on his progress. He's looks worse for the wear, and Misty goes to give him a bath, but it reminds him too much of his mother's bad touch. FrankenKyle smashes up her place, and worse of all her music. Zoe comes to take them both away.
Cordelia's husband, Hank, goes to visit Marie Laveau.
FrankenKyle is easier with Zoe, and Misty notes that they belong together, but Zoe isn't the type of girl that can be with anyone. She shows Misty why she brought her. Misty tells her Madison is too full of death, and that they should bury her, but Zoe insists. With Zoe's help Misty brings her back.
Marie wasn't the one that did the acid hit on Cordelia, and Hank tells her that she now has second sight, which makes his job harder. He's a Witch Hunter, and he's been using his wife's connections to kill all the Salem decedents, including the redhead. She was a fire starter, who was suffering from a broken heart. Her last boyfriend had dumped her before she lit him on fire, and came to the coven house. She didn't want to join. He killed 9 witches, that he would not have found otherwise. Marie believes he was pussywhipped, and let them undermind her, kill her minotaur, and dig up the cracker she planted. Marie give him an ultimatium, kill everyone and burn down the house, or die.
Queenie marvels at their house of horrors, and Zoe decides that they keep Madison a secret for now. Misty is ready to go home, telling them that the house is full of bad vibes.
Cordelia stumbles around, and she's not alone, the Axeman is there too.
Madison wonders what happened to her, and Zoe tries to get her to drink some ginger ale, but her body isn't ready for it yet. Her memory is spotty of everything including her death, but the afterlife was nothing more than a void for her.
Cordelia speaks with the Axeman. He wants release, but she won't do it. He's been trapped there since his death, and he played nice, and now he wants his payment. He plans to keep Cordelia until he gets what he was promised. The girls hear Cordelia's screams and jazz music, and Cordelia tries to fight him off. Zoe looks for a book to send the Axeman on, and her powers kick in giving her the book. She casts a spell, with the other 2 girls lending support, and the candles flare. Cordelia continues to scream, but the door is atleast open. The Axeman, now corporeal, leaves the house, whistling his tune.
Fiona sits in a bar, downing martinis, when a handsome stranger pulls up a chair. It's the Axeman, oh there's gonna be trouble.
