The Big Bang Theory S7E8 - "The Itchy Brain Simulation" Recap

Sheldon is looking some arcade tickets and Leonard pulls out his junk box from the closet to retrieve them. After giving Sheldon his tickets, Leonard begins rummaging through it. Sheldon looks too and finds a DVD rented on Sheldon's card seven years prior that Leonard never returned. Leonard pleads with him to not to flip out and Sheldon stays calm, much to the shock of Leonard. Sheldon then asks Leonard to wear an itchy sweater (with nothing underneath it) until the DVD issue is resolved so they can share the experience. Leonard agrees and then Sheldon tells him that the DVD stores went out of business.

The girls spots Lucy, Raj's ex, at the Cheesecake Factory. Penny approaches her and then questions her as to why she broke up with him via e-mail. Lucy says she thought it would be easier and Penny points out that it would only be easier for her and not Raj. She gives Lucy a thorough scolding.

Leonard is still suffering from the itch of the sweater and is too proud to take it off, wanting to prove a point to Sheldon about getting things done without acting like a lunatic.

Raj becomes upset when Penny tells him what happened. Then, he gets an e-mail from Penny asking to meet him for coffee. He shouts, "I love you, Penny!" and happily hugs her.

Leonard reports back to Sheldon and tells him that video store owner is dead. He removes the sweater and we see angry-looking red splotches all over his torso. Howard then suggests that he reimburse the owner's next of kin. Sheldon tells him to do just that and Leonard has to put it back the itchy sweater back on.

Raj and Lucy meet for coffee. She apologises for breaking up over e-mail and when he suggests they hang out, she reveals that she is seeing someone new. Raj vents his frustrations to Penny, who then says he will set her up on a date with a co-worker from the Cheesecake Factory.

Leonard tells Sheldon he could not find a next of kin for the video store owner and insists on knowing why the unreturned video isn't driving Sheldon crazy. Sheldon tells him that seven years prior, he had discovered the late DVD and paid the fine. He wanted to teach Leonard a lesson but all Leonard does is throw away the sweater and ice his skin.

Raj goes on the blind date with Lizzy, Penny's co-worked, but he makes a complete mess of things.

The Big Bang Theory airs on Thursdays on CBS at 8PM.
