The Big Bang Theory S7E7 - "The Proton Displacement" Recap

Leonard and Amy accompany Sheldon to the drug store so he can restock the medicine cabinet. While there, they encounter Professor Proton. The following day, Leonard receives an e-mail from him asking him to look over his paper on nano-vacuum tubes. Sheldon is upset that he wasn't asked to do so. Later, Amy explains to him that some people find him to be a bit much.

Raj and the girls are having a girls' night and are making jewellery together. Howard shows up and pokes fun at Raj for "being a girl" but then offers them a sauntering iron to help them with their crafts.

Sheldon goes to Arthur's to apologise but ends up making a mess of things in a typically Sheldon manner. The following day, Leonard and Arthur are working together in a lab and Sheldon arrives to gloat about his newfound friendship with Bill Nye the Science Guy.

At the next girls' night, Howard crashes yet again and Raj is upset by it.

In the lab, Arthur asks Leonard why he puts up with Sheldon. When Leonard says that they are friends, Arthur asks why. Leonard explains that Sheldon isn't aware of some of the things he does, but he is also loyal, trustworthy, and they have fun together. Leonard says that Sheldon is the smartest person he knows and they need one another.

Raj blows up at Howard, saying that he has always made fun of Raj for girls' night and now he is there ruining it. Howard says he is simply trying to help them make better jewellery but Raj tells him that it isn't about the jewellery, but about having a place where he can open up about his feelings. He says that there are certain things that the girls won't make fun of him and that sometimes Howard's jokes hurt his feelings. Howard apologises and the pair make up.

Arthur visits Sheldon and asks him to look over his paper. Sheldon tells him he thought the paper was inspired, having already read it by hacking into his e-mail. He then invites him in for tea, and Arthur declines until Penny comes out.

To make up for the argument, Raj brings Howard a light saber belt buckle, along with one for himself, using some of the techniques Howard taught him.

Finally, we see Sheldon listing his favourite Professor Proton episodes to Arthur, after which Arthur asks Penny if she has any single grandmothers.

The Big Bang Theory airs on Thursdays on CBS at 8PM.
