Alfie struggles with the end of term, as his students will all be moving on to the next stages in their lives. The students each go to Fraser's office where the career-predicting computer predicts that virtually all of them will become archaeologists, with the exception of Rem Dogg who is wrongfully predicted to become a stunt man or a male escort.

Stephen decides to go to prom as his female alter-ego, Stephanie Fierce. Alfie doesn't want to repeat the emotional struggles of losing a class after getting attached so he makes the decision to quit Abbey Grove and teaching altogether. When Alfie delivers the news to Fraser, Fraser pitches a fit. Rosie tries to talk him out of it but Alfie has made his decision and would also like to focus on his newly reconciled relationship with her.

Alfie tells everyone he's gotten a job at the Playstation factor when in actuality he's working at a DIY store. His students try to coax him into coming to the upcoming prom but he stays set on not doing so. Rosie tries to take over teaching Alfie's class but they're not fond of her attempts to mimic Alfie's teaching style.

Rosie stops by the DIY store and learns the truth about Alfie's new job. She even brings the students to the store to try to bait him back but he says he won't. At Prom, Stephen arrives in fashion as Stephanie Fierce and one by one, all of Alfie's students arrive.

Alfie grows tired of the bullying he receives from his coworkers so he quits and heads to Abbey Grove's Prom. He and his students head back to their class to say their goodbyes. They all tell Alfie how it would be a shame to deny other students the opportunity to have their lives changed just as he has done for them. One by one, they leave as their parents come to pick them up. After they're gone, Alfie watches the slideshow they made for him and becomes emotional looking back on the time he had with them. In the next Autumn term, Alfie and Rosie return to Abbey Grove to begin a new journey as teachers.

Alfie and Grayson are still suffering through their parents dating one another. Grayson expresses his frustration of the situation by playing cruel practical jokes on Alfie.

Fraser finds that Alfie hasn't ever passed his biology GSCE and isn't allowed to teach until he passes it. He has to sit through the lesson taught by Ms. Gulliver and sit through the exam and take it with his pupils. Fraser, meanwhile, is making preparations for the end-of-exam party.

Alfie and Grayson's bickering leads to a parent-teacher conference. Alfie is sympathetic when he sees the Grayson's mother values her pedigree Chihuahua more than her own son. Alfie needs to prove to Ms. Gulliver that he can motivate his class and lead them to success, but decides that his best option is to cheat. He teaches them several methods of doing so, to be used in the exam. His last and final resort method is to "phone a friend," who will call the school and say that his grandmother has been in a terrible accident. For that method, he decides to recruit the help of Mitchell, who is currently locked up.

Meanwhile, Martin Wickers is babysitting his girlfriend's dog. It's quite the chore, as he has to feed the dog using a false breast like when men decide to realistically breastfeed.

Unfortnately for Alfie, the infamous Mr. Hewston will be overseeing the exam. He's strict as can be, and uncovers all the various methods that students were hoping to cheat and disposes of them before they were let inside. Alfie and Grayson then go into the restroom to set off the smoke alarm so Alfie can plant the box of tissues on Hewston's desk that will be used for cheating.

When the exam starts, Hewston undermines all the remaining methods in place to cheat. Alfie's last resort is to go to the bathroom to access the phone to call Mitchell but upon retrieving, it has almost no battery left and then he drops it in the toilet. Mitchell ends up making a call to the school anyway, posing as the hospital. A message is delivered to Alfie in the exam but it's not about his grandmother, it's a prank one saying that despite running several tests, "we still can't find your cock." Joe ends up passing out at the completion of the exam. Once he wakes up, he tells Alfie to distract Mr. Hewston and he'll get rid of the papers. But Joe actually ends up swapping Alfie and Xing's cover-paper.

Alfie tries to tell Xing the truth about what happened, reminding her about how she had said she didn't want to do well on her Biology exam because she wanted her parents to love her for herself and not her grades. But then Xing says that this will definitely happen, as she has just deliberately torpedoed her exam.

Cleo inadvertently kills Martin's girlfriend's dog by throwing the bag it was in onto the bonfire, after thinking it was just Stephen's book bag. Martin had grown sick of the dog's snoring and had put it in Alfie's classroom.

Ms. Gulliver warns everyone to back away from the bonfire, as Fraser has purchased some highly dangerous flairs from a Chinese pirate, as he had believed they would be festive fireworks. But before they go off, Grayson throws the exam booklets onto the fire, having stolen them from Hewston's car. Martin and his girlfriend's relationship ends after she learns what has happened to her dog.

A week later, everyone sits down to take their exams over and Alfie goes down the line and marks each letter in the same column for all the answers.

Martin Wickers is teaching Alfie to drive but Alfie gets distracted when Martin begins talking about his upcoming sexcapades, causing him to run over the school caretaker Pod. The school begins fundraising for a surgery for Pod. Alfie takes it upon himself to help Pod take care of himself with cleaning himself and the chores around the house.

Rosie arrives at school in Richard's ambulance, which she has after he showed up to visit and drank himself out of his ability to drive home. Richard is also shown to have left his phone in the ambulance. The school raises over a thousand pounds for Pod's surgery.

School bully Grayson is transferred to Alfie's class, as no one else wants him in their class. Alfie wants to prove to Rosie that he can reform Grayson but then decides to enlist Grayson's skills to break into the ambulance and snoop through Richard's mobile. But then Grayson decides to take the ambulance for a joyride. Grayson has Alfie put the paramedic vest on and Stephen suggests Alfie try texting Rosie with Richard's phone to try to find out if there is more going on between then. The text replies make him believe Rosie lied about not being involved with Richard but he doesn't realise it's actually Martin replying, as he found the phone after Rosie misplaced it at school.

When Grayson parks the ambulance, Alfie is mistaken for a paramedic. There's a man struggling to breathe that keeps saying "pen." Alfie decides to perform a makeshift tracheotomy using a pen tube, after which Grayson says he has found the man's epi-pen in his bag.

Xing, Chantelle, Joe, and Stephen are still in the car and spot Pod walking about, who is not at all paralysed and runs away upon realising he has been seen.

Alfie and Grayson flee when the real medics arrive. The other pupils try to tell Alfie what they have seen about Pod but Alfie doesn't believe them. Grayson decides that the best way to cover up what they have done is to torch the ambulance.

Grayson later pretends to make Alfie look good in front of Rosie as an opportunity to swipe the key to the lock box off of him. Rosie catches Alfie when he's confronting Grayson about his attempts to steal the cash. At the assembly, the pupils get into an argument with Alfie over Pod faking his paralysis. Joe blurts out the truth regarding their stealing the ambulance and going for a joy ride. Alfie punches Pod in the legs repeatedly to prove the truth of the paralysis and the argument carries on until Rem Dogg pour hot coffee onto Pod's legs, causing him to scream and stand up.

Finally, Alfie confronts Rosie about the sexts between her, leading him to get caught for having Richard's phone. This argument is taking place in front of Grayson and Martin. Rosie says she lost her phone so Grayson tells him to call the number, and Rosie's phone goes off and explores Martin.

Martin and Alfie go out for dinner and it's revealed that Martin's new girlfriend is Grayson's mother. Alfie and Grayson are now on the way to being stepbrothers. Also Martin has pulled some strings to keep Grayson from getting expelled for his latest indiscretion.

Alfie is horrified to learn that Fraser has hired Preet to be the school's replacement P.E. teacher. Preet's fresh out of prison but Fraser believes everyone deserves a second… or third chance. Alfie passes out the sports assignments for Sports Day at random to his pupils. He then learns that Rosie's ex, Richard, will be coming to Sports Day and Alfie decides that he needs to take the opportunity to outdo him. Alfie and Rosie are still on a break.

Stephen suggests to Alfie that he challenge Richard to an endurance event at Sports Day. He has Preet give him and his pupils a crash course on fitness, as he used to be a personal trainer and will be designing the endurance event. This involves several exercises and Preet repeatedly tackling Alfie to the ground. Meanwhile, Joe is worried about having to compete against school bully Grayson in the hurdles.

At Sports Day, Alfie's father ends up getting along great with Richard. The endurance track set up by Preet is highly dangerous, including attack dogs and barbed wire. Before the hurdles event, Joe has a green paint grenade go off, courtesy of Grayson. But Grayson doesn't win the event, while Joe spends the whole event roaring while running through the hurdles. There's also been a steroids story going through the school but Xing later admits to Alfie that she made the story up just to make her story seem more interesting. Alfie believes that Richard has an unfair advantage when he mentions having a secret weapon so he and Xing go snooping in the locker room. Alfie finds a bottle of pills which in Richard's bag, which he believes to be steroids. He takes one, and downs the rest after Xing leaves but is caught by Preet, who had been on the toilet with the door open. Preet tells Alfie how he had wanted revenge on him when he was sent to prison but then shows him a sketchbook he has as part of his art therapy which is filled with homoerotic drawings of Alfie, or Alfie and Preet together.

When Alfie tells Richard about the pills, Richard admits that the pills were Viagra. Being an older man, he feels he needed some help and had hoped to become friends with benefits with Rosie. The clock is ticking till the pills kick in so he insists Preet hurry up and start the race. Alfie begins speeding through the race but has to drop to the ground and crawl to hide his erection, which allows Richard time to catch up. Preet tries to shoot Richard with the tranquilliser gun as he and Alfie are racing to the finish line but ends up shooting Alfie instead. Richard gives Alfie mouth-to-mouth to get him to start breathing again and then Alfie's erection becomes visible to everyone gathered around. He confesses how he tried to cheat but mistakenly took Viagra instead. Richard is forced to admit his "plan to succeed" plan, and a furious Rosie slaps Richard before storming off. Also, Preet is arrested.

When the photo-finish comes in, Alfie is revealed to have won the race "by a head." Xing is thrilled, as it has become the highest-selling edition ever and Alfie has saved the paper. She happily tells him that everyone is reading it, and Alfie responds with an embarrassed, "Great."

Alfie decides to crash Rosie's book group but mistakenly thinks it's a BDSM session and makes an arse of himself. He later learns that Rosie's ex is in the group, and presumes it to be an off-putting man named Orlando.

Mitchell announces that he'll be leaving Abbey Grove. Fraser allows a farewell party to be thrown since rooms are being rented out to various after-school clubs and organisations to raise funds for the schools. Fraser offers to make some paperwork Alfie has to do disappear in exchange for his attending a LARPing session with him. This will be happening at the same time as Mitchell's party, and Alfie's schedules is further complicated when he decides to go to another book club meeting, wanting to impress Rosie.

Alfie's pupils are working on their personal statements while Alfie has to try to finish reading "Love in the Time of Cholera." As it's Mitchell's last day, he unleashes a series of pranks. He puts a mouse in Stephen's bag, a snake in Alfie's desk, and even orders 200 pizzas for the students using the school's account. Alfie's struggling to get through the book so with the help of Joe, he decides to have his pupils each read a chapter of it and present him with notes on it so he can get through it easier.

Mitchell tries to ask Cleo out but her qualifications for who she will date seem unachievable for him. He still lets her know about his going away party.

When Alfie meets Phillip and Malcolm, two other members of Fraser's LARPing club, they demonstrate their self-importance and propensity for bullying. He runs back to the book club and initially embarrasses himself again for not knowing anything past the first seven pages. He then makes it out to Mitchell's party where Joe gives him the notes all the pupils have written up. Upon returning to the book club, things work well briefly when using Xing's notes but upon getting to the others, Alfie comes across as a fool yet again.

Phillip and Malcolm capture Fraser and use him as bait to slay Alfie in the LARP session. Alfie learns that Rosie's ex wasn't actually Orlando, but Richard, the older gentleman in the group who was Rosie's lecturer at Oxford. Rosie wants space to think and now Alfie is even worse off than he was to begin with.

Mitchell approaches Cleo and babbles, trying to express his interest and worth, despite not meeting her standards. Cleo offers to kiss him if he'll only shut up, which he agrees to. Alfie is cornered by the LARPers and refuses to play any longer, opting to actually hit them instead of the make-believe violence within the confines of the game.

Mitchell tells the group that Cleo has agreed to go to Nando's with him if he doesn't brag about the kiss on Facebook (a kiss she described as the worst she's ever had). He says his goodbyes to the group, which are surprisingly touching but still in character. Rem Dogg even breaks his emo-silence to tell Mitchell he loves him. Alfie is arrested when he mistakes a cop for another one of Mitchell's pranks.

It's summer term and Alfie's pupils have gone through a great many changes. Rem Dogg has gone emo, Jing is having a teenage existential crisis brought on by reading a great deal of French literature. Joe turns up with his head shaved because his mother was concerned about lice.

Alfie's father Martin has been appointed as the new deputy head following the end of his marriage to professor Green, who ended up running out with all his money. Alfie briefly tries getting Rosie to let his father move in with them in their new flat but she refuses. Martin's first job is to increase class sizes and fire a member of staff after Fraser invested the twenty grand raised at the fundraiser in his own clothing range, Dolce and Go-Banter. The worst performing teacher is set to lose their job and Rosie reacts by organising a strike.

Alfie ends up with a new pupil in his class, Cleopatra. She's tough, no-nonsense, and confrontational. She clashes with all the new pupils and Alfie. She gets into a bit of a tousle with Mitchell and it only breaks up when Alfie threatens to begin spelling out the name of a character that will die in season 5 of Game of Thrones.

The teachers begin their evaluations by Martin and other board members. Rosie storms in to tell Alfie that she has organised a strike for the teachers and he heads outside to join them. Mitchell develops a romantic interest in Cleopatra, she nicknames him "salad," Stephen basks in the opportunity to speak to the press, and Jing is still working her eccentric existential crisis. Later, some supply teachers roll up to the class. The journalist that writes a story based on Stephen's interview spins it into painting the pupils as being the stupidest in Britain. Chantelle is stressed about potentially failing her GSCEs after learning that she would need them in order to go to beauty school.

Alfie's concern for his pupils reaches a breaking point where he says he will quit so that his students get back to work. Mitchell tries to impress Cleopatra by tossing a roasted pig off the roof with Jing. It nearly hits Alfie but Joe pushes him out of the way and takes the brunt of the impact. She berates him for his stunt and Joe seriously considers eating the pig, having grown tired from his mother's imposing a vegan diet on him and the hunger strike he had been on while the teachers were striking.

Fraser comes bursting out to say that he has sold his flat and therefore, Alfie will not have to lose his job. He then asks Martin if he can move into his car with him. Alfie then warns Martin that his car will look different but that he was really angry at the time. Martin then finds that his car has been covered in a collage of pornography. Cleopatra finds it hilarious and Alfie causally mentions that Mitchell was responsible, thus giving him a boost to her opinion of him. Mitchell later thanks Alfie for the gesture.

The episode concludes with the class all playing foosball together, Alfie telling his pupils they are like his family, and then becoming horrified to realise he has left Rem Dogg outside this whole time, still chained up to the gate to try to keep the temporary teachers out during the strike.

Kieren's dad has Kieren locked up in his room. He still wants Kieren to sign the confession and think it would be best for him to go back to the treatment centre. He also doesn't want him to talk to Amy or Simon, saying they're bad influences.

Amy wants to keep her body's changes secret and Philip tries to reassure her that everything will be okay. He agrees to keep things under wrap. Despite being afraid of being turned into a lab rat, she's also excited at being able to feel physical sensations again. He says he'd love her whether she was Undead or human.

Gary meets with Maxine. He wants to go after Simon but she tells him he's not a threat and to leave him alone. He says that Simon needs to be stopped and she orders him to go home.

Some mysterious people come to Roarton looking for Amy and ask about her whereabouts at the treatment centre. The doctor refuses to give up her address.

Gary comes storming into Kieren's home. He ties him up and questions him about Simon, wanting to know where he is and what he's planning. Kieren genuinely has no idea what Simon is up to but Gary doesn't believe him. Gary goes tearing Kieren's room apart and finds the bottle of Blue Oblivion he had taken from Simon's place. He drags Kieren out to his truck telling him if he wants to go rabid, then he'll go rabid. Simon watches the scene unfold from afar.

Amy and Philip go into town to enjoy the local festival. Kieren's mother is there and Philip's mother tells her how sorry she is to hear about the injustice Kieren is facing. Sad when someone else is defending Kieren more than his own mother. Philip's mother spots Amy with Philip and the fact that she takes a bite from a toffee apple. When she asks Amy if she's alright, having eaten, Amy feigns having forgotten that she doesn't eat and excuses herself to be sick. She tells Philip that he's done good by being with Amy and it's so heart-warming to finally see someone who isn't completely overrun by hate speak.

There's a parade consisting of Jem, Maxine, and other extremists. They're marching to a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the newly completed perimeter fence. MAxine even appoints Jem to lead it since Gary is MIA. But when they arrive at the cemetery, the blonde PDS sufferer and the rest of Simon's followers are chanting with bottle of Blue Oblivion in their hands, refusing to leave. Also, Gary has driven Kieren out to the woods near the cemetery and shoves the Blue Oblivion pill up his nose, after which Kieren takes off running. Despite his efforts to fight it, he turns full Rotter and comes across Jem and the others. She holds a gun to him but their father steps in, finally standing up for his son. He says no one is going to hurt his son and tells Kieren that he can fight this, that he's sorry and that he loves him no matter what he is. He refuses to let anyone take away his son and Kieren is indeed fighting it off.

Simon is walking towards the cemetery and Gary comes up from behind him with a knife to his throat. He breaks free and goes running towards Kieren and there is a gunshot. Maxine has also spent the last chunk of the episode over her brother's grave and pleads with him to wake up. As it turns out, some awful woman had shot at Kieren but Simon jumped in front of him. He looks at Kieren with all the love in his being and tells him he's all right. Kieren asks if he hurt anyone and he says he didn't. The blonde is yelling out to Simon about the Second Rising and he tells him it's not going to happen.

Amy is with Philip in the cemetery and she's gained a bit of colour to her complexion. She gleefully tells Philip that she can feel her heart beating and he reaches out to feel it. Maxine comes from out of nowhere, believing Amy to be the First Risen and stabs her with a pair of scissors.

Simon and Kieren go to the clinic to make sure Kieren is okay. Simon tells Kieren he's never seen anyone fight off Blue Oblivion before and Kieren brushes off the compliment, saying he's just someone who didn't want to hurt anyone anymore. He says he's not a messiah or someone with mystical powers. It's then that Philip comes charging in with Amy in his arms, begging for someone to help.

At the festival, Maxine walks on stage and says that her brother died at a young age in an accident and that with the Second Rising, he and everyone who was pure could come back. She says she already "took care of the girl" but nothing happened so she suggests they wipe out all PDS sufferers in Roarton. She tries to make a move on Sandra's mother-in-law but Dean comes up from behind and tases her. The tides have turned and no one in Roarton will be following Maxine anymore.

It's too late for Amy. She dies and the doctor mentions that her heart was indeed beating before she died. Kieren shares a moment with Jem as they prepare to attend Amy's funeral. He tells Jem to wear something flowery and fun because that's what Amy would have wanted. Jem says she's not sure if it would be proper for her to go after all the bad she has done but Kieren assures her that she is a VIP-attendee. Kieren adds that Gary isn't invited and Jem replies that she has broken up with him. It's Kieren's word against Gary's and she has chosen Kieren's. They attend the funeral together wearing flower corsages to honour Amy.

Kieren heads to the after-party and performs his duties as her best friend by thanking everyone for coming to mourn her. The other followers are at a pub and discuss the fact that Simon has been labelled a traitor and that the First Risen is still out there. Kieren is in Jem's room and finds the bracelet Henry made for her. He asks where she got it and she lies by saying Gary made it for her. He tells her that's a lie and that Henry made it for her and had showed it to him the night he disappeared. She breaks down in tears, realising Gary's lie and also being unable to take the guilt any longer. She confesses to Kieren about the circumstances that led to her accidentally killing Henry. He asks what she wants to do and she says she needs help. He hugs and comforts her, promising they'll get her some help then.

Simon asks Kieren to run away with him but Kieren says he's finally okay with being where he is and Simon accepts that. Kieren's father comes over to thank Kieren for saving his life and shakes his hand. Kieren's mother comes over and asks if he has a place to stay and he says he's still staying at Amy's place. She says she hopes he's not going away and he says he's staying put. Indeed, all seems well with the exception of Amy being dead.

Philip is still sitting at Amy's grave, having been sat there all night. He is about to walk away when he thinks he hears a sound but finds nothing. After he leaves, the two people who had been looking for Amy earlier head to her grave. One asks the other if there's still time and the other person says there is. They put on biohazard suits, bag the teddy bear Philip left atop her grave and then begin digging it up.

Simon meets another Undead Prophet follower in a hotel room. The follower brings a video message from the messiah that tells him he must sacrifice the First Risen in order for the Second Rising to occur. The follower leaves Simon with a large pouch full of weapons. Simon is shaken up by this new order and freaks out about it after the other follower leaves.

His breakdown transition into flashbacks of his being at the Treatment Centre and having multiple tests run on him. Eventually, the doctors find that the medication is working well on him. He was the first to respond to their chemical compound and he is becoming more like a human. He agrees to let them continue their experiments in the hope of further developing a cure. He also says he doesn't want his family to see him like that before he is fixed.

Kieren's father is having difficulty dealing with Kieren's recent admissions regarding his time before he was medicated. His family also struggles with Kieren's decision to no longer wear his mousse and makeup. They struggle to even look at him. He's then arrested for the crime of breaking into the Treatment Centre (which was actually done by the blonde girl who wanted to impress Simon). He and Simon are being blamed for the crime. Kieren is threatened that he'll be sent back to the Norfolk Treatment Centre if he doesn't (falsely) confess. They plan to do the same to Simon once they find him. Kieren doesn't care about their threats and refuses to comply.

Continuing on with Simon's flashbacks, we see Simon meet another PDS sufferer, the same man who brought him the weapons in the hotel room. He starts talking about the Undead Prophet and all his teachings. Simon is full of self-loathing by his condition at that point in his life.

Kieren's dad tries to get Kieren to sign a written confession. Kieren's mother doesn't strongly side with him or Kieren and it's clear that this family is falling to pieces.

Amy worries that she may be dying. She takes Philip out for a cute little mini-golf date.

The Undead Prophet follower from the top of the episode had set his bag down in the hotel lobby briefly, during which Gary managed to steal the video message and a notebook. He shows it to Maxine who knows that the clock is truly ticking to get to the First Risen.

Flashback-Simon has to see his father and he's not happy about it, having wanted to be cured completely before doing so. Their relationship is on bad terms because Simon's father can barely look at him. Simon had killed his mother while rabid. Simon continues to be tested and experimented on until he is released. His father reluctantly brings him home but eventually kicks him out because he's unable to get over the fact that Simon killed his mother.

Kieren sneaks out and goes to Simon's place. He meets Amy there and apologises, but she's not mad. She tells him to take care and it's evident she's saying goodbye because she believes she's not long for this world. Kieren goes snooping around Simon's room and finds Blue Oblivion, which he pockets before returning home. He gets into an argument with his parents about sneaking out and there's far more tension due to his parents no longer "recognising him."

Amy has gone and set up a tent and calls Philip to join her. She worries that she is turning rabid, due to the fact that she isn't responding to the treatments. She asks Philip if he ever killed anyone during the rising and he says he's never killed anyone. She pulls out a pair of handcuffs and asks him to put them on her, which he does. She doesn't want to go around as a rabid, saying it's no way to live. She has brought a screwdriver and wants Philip to save her from a "fate worse than death."

Maxine goes downstairs to watch a show with the family she is staying with. Grandma gets sassy with Sandra and then Sandra says she should have killed her mother-in-law when she saw her rise. Maxine is amazed to learn that she saw the rising. Maxine brings her up to her room and asks her to identify the First Risen. She points to a photo, but we're left to wonder if it was in fact Kieren she pointed at.

Amy is telling Philip to kill her but then she stops him when she begins to feel, yes feel, the rain on her face. She realises that she's not turning rabid. She says she doesn't know what's going on but it would seem that she is turning more human!

Finally, flashback-Simon is shown to be wandering the streets before calling the man he had met in the Treatment Centre. He meets him at an abandoned apartment building, where he is welcomed by a large group of PDS suffering Undead Prophet followers. This explains why he feels such a strong sense of loyalty to the group; they were his family when he had none.

Philip has a naughty dream about Amy but is interrupted by his mum. He's still very much swept up in this fantasy and it leads to him being caught up on tape visiting the Undead brothel.

Amy's health is deteriorating. Simon is rallying other Undeads into walking around without makeup or contacts on, promoting self-acceptance. Henry's mother is still upset because her son is missing and she's convinced Maxine is spreading lies.

Philip is reprimanded by Maxine for missing the meeting (he had taken a post-coital nap and overslept). She tells him to deal with Henry's mother and convince him that Henry has been spotted at an extremist camp. She doesn't want Henry's mother interfering with her plans by sending the town into a tizzy over Henry. Maxine has seen the footage of Philip at the Undead brothel and if he doesn't do as she asks, she will reveal his secret.

Gary and Jem have gotten involved with one another and go on patrol together. Jem has a vision of Henry in the woods; she's clearly still traumatised and guilt-ridden.

Amy is seeking treatment for her symptoms. She returns home and spots Kieren and Simon kissing. She doesn't confront them, or even get angry. Instead, she looks devastated. Kieren and Simon are on their way to Kieren's house. Kieren invited him to come and see his world, but asked that Simon mousse up for the comfort of his parents.

Some of Simon's followers went to a treatment centre wielding cans of spray paint and they also free the Rotters from their cages.

The family get-together is going well until Jem comes home with Gary. It doesn't take long for Gary to launch into gruesome stories about hunting and killing Rotters. Even Jem looks uncomfortable, sending Kieren a sympathetic look. Kieren retaliates by sharing his stories about ripping people apart after he rose, saying that if they had to listen to Gary's stories, then he can listen to his. He then shares his rising story, something he's never done before. Kieren's parents are uncomfortable with the awkwardness but Jem seems intrigued. Kieren says that no one else was around when he rose. It's a minor detail in the point he's trying to make but Gary interrupts for clarification, and you can see the recognition dawn on his face. Kieren's father gets angry, telling Kieren to stop, and Kieren tells him off for allowing Gary and Jem to share their stories while he gets told off for finally speaking up.

Maxine rallies a protest in front of the Undead brothel. Gary and Jem are tasked with rounding up the workers from inside along with their customers. Everyone is brought outside on the front lawn where the protesters begin verbally abusing them. Philip arrives and steals the megaphone, telling them all off for pointing fingers at them. He says that none of them are pure or free of sin and that they're just using the PDS sufferers to make themselves feel better. The protesters boo him and he goes to stand with the workers and customers. Amy witnesses the whole thing.

Kieren sits quietly, removing his contacts and beginning to wipe off his mousse. He then goes over to Simon and begins wiping the mousse from his face as well.

Amy gets "drunk" (but not really), likely self-medicating following her not-yet official makeup. She runs into Philip at a bus stop where he is also having a drink. They chat about the recent events and Philip outright admits his feelings for Amy. They end up in bed together again.

Maxine is shown to e standing over her son's grave, telling him it won't be long now. Finally, we've gotten a reason for her interest in a Second Rising.

Simon goes to a phone booth in the middle of the night, calling someone and telling them he's found the First Risen and that he's beautiful.

In this episode, we're introduced to Freddie, who is living with his ex-wife Haley and her new husband Amir. Things are complicated, as Freddie is undead and a three-way relationship isn't exactly what Amir had in mind when marrying his lady love. Freddie is also friends with new character Zoe, who is also undead. Freddie wants a normal life back and spends much of the episode trying to get his life and wife back. He asks her to run away with him but she has matured and is now looking to build her way up in her career and turns him down.

Kieren tells Simon off for leading Amy on but Simon tells him that Amy is someone who needs to be loved and he does in fact love her, just not "like that." He's shown to be trying to keep Kieren in Roarton but it's unclear what his true motives are. Is he simply interested in a relationship with Kieren or are there darker reasons?

Jem goes to visit Maxine and confesses her killing Henry. Maxine drives them to the woods, wanting to see the body instead of going to the police. Maxine tells her she hasn't done anything wrong and that Henry was a killer. But when they get to the spot, Henry's body is nowhere to be found. As it turns out, Gary has disposed of the body by burning it. He's interested in Jem and even kisses her but she doesn't reciprocate his feelings. He also gives her the bracelet Henry had made, pretending like he had made it.

We also see Amy working for Phillip, an arrangement he has orchestrated. It's all very strange and complicated. He's interested in her but she's having none of it. He can see that she's not going well and turns up the heat when he sees that she is cold. His responsibilities are to the ULA, enforcing unjust anti-undead policies but his seemingly genuine affection for her further exemplifies the show's tackling grey morality.

Maxine reveals that the ULA wants the First Risen, because apparently it's somehow connected to a Second Rising. Maxine is suspicious that Kieren was the First Risen. Kieren has to take care of some rabids at the treatment centre, which proves particularly stressful.

Freddie gets Haley to come to his workshop and yet again tries to woo her. She tells him he needs to leave. They hug and say their goodbyes on good terms but then Freddie begins to go rabid, apologetically telling her that he forgot to take his neurotriptyline shot. She calls for help and Amir comes running and begins banging on the door, trying to get Haley out. Freddie gives Haley a hammer and pleads with her to take it and knock him out to protect herself. But she can't bring herself to do it.

Kieren is called by Gary, and they manage to get the door open. Haley is freed and Kieren goes in, trying to talk Freddie down. It doesn't help so Gary shoots him in the leg. Kieren administers the shot and Gary hauls Freddie away. He says that Freddie will be (unjustly) taken to a non-compliance centre.

An upset Kieren goes to see Simon. Amy is upstairs in her room. Kieren says nothing but kisses Simon.

Jem is still suffering from nightmares that show no sign of letting up.

Amy goes off to try to convince Kieren from leaving Roarton. His parents had insisted on throwing a cheesy going away French-themed party. Amy meets Kieren at the train station, where he asks her if she'd like to go with him. She chides him for putting so much mousse on and for hiding who he really is. He tries to buy a ticket but Maxine has put an Undead travel ban on Roarton. Maxine had promoted Philip and he comes to the station to tell Kieren that all PDS sufferers are required to come to the kickoff seminar event happening that day.

Henry, the Undead boy at school who has a crush on Jem, outs her as an ex-HVF war hero. It ends up impressing her peers and gets her in with the popular girls in her class.

At the seminar, a video is played that announces that PDS sufferers must now do tremendous amounts of volunteer work. Maxine has put together a 'Give Back' scheme. Kieren also learns that his passport is out of date and that he won't be able to fill out the new forms pertaining to his condition until he first completes the program. Maxine also wants to know Kieren's time of rising. Kieren tells her that he doesn't know. Kieren learns from his parents that at the very least, he'll be stuck in Roarton for another six months. His family tries to comfort him but it does little to help.

Philip's mother tells him she has created a dating profile for him and he is mortified, opting to walk out in the middle of the night. He heads to a secret club where there are Undead womyn galore for him to enjoy the company of. He ends up roleplaying with one of them, where she pretends to be Amy.

The real Amy is shown to be having some health problems and downplaying the severity of them to Simon. She had a tremendous headache and displays hand tremors.

Kieren begins his work for the 'Give Back' program and ends up bonding with Simon, who reveals scars not unlike those that Kieren had when he killed himself. He also tells Kieren that the program is a scam.

Henry and two other Undead students decide to take Blue Oblivion as a prank. When the first boy snorts his pill, the other two run out as he turns rabid. The class locks themselves in the classroom but Jem is given a giant machete and told to go out and take out the rabid because of all her stories of killing rabids. She becomes terrified and pees herself as the rabid approaches. She begins crying, pleading to be let back in and the Blue Oblivion wears off, causing the student to return back to normal. Needless to her say, all the credibility she had built up disappears. She also learns from one of the popular girls that one of the Rotters she had killed in the supermarket was her father, for which she had earned a medal.

The Undead students are forced to give Maxine the Undead Prophet website and any information on how to access it, since that was where they obtained the Blue Oblivion from.

Amy and Simon are having an Undead party, and Kieren attends, having been invited by Simon. When he arrives, nearly everyone is intoxicated, having consumed bits of sheep brain. Kieren has another heart-to-heart with Simon, who is not intoxicated, and Simon tells him how he was just like Kieren, wanting to escape. He did so by going to the States, but the novelty wore off quickly and it didn't help. Gary also reveals to Simon that he is also gay.

Jem is picked up Gary to go hunting for rabids in the woods. They also have a chat in which he assures her that she is brave and had even saved him on previous hunts. She spots a PDS suffferer from afar, and shoots and kills him. Gary catches up, and Jem is horrified to find that it is Henry.

A group of four PDS sufferers on board a train take some of that infamous blue-powder drug and become rabid and crazed before attacking those on board the train, including Ken Burton, whose wife we saw shot dead last series. Ken is killed along with several others.

Kieren is working hard at the Legion pub to save up money in order to get out of Roarton to find a life somewhere more conducive to his living without fear and hateful vitriol constantly spewed at him.

A PDS sufferer at school has a crush on Jem. She and Kieren are on much better terms now and she is no longer involved with the HVF and their activities. However, she's still having nightmares. Jem later accompanies her mother to the grocery store and begins to suffer from flashbacks of her encounter with Kieren while he was still rabid. She breathes deeply to maintain her composure but then she becomes frightened when one of the employees is shown to be a PDS sufferer not wearing his contacts because they were growing uncomfortable.

Enter Maxine Martin, the newly elected Pro-Life MP in town, who is anti-"rotter" just like the church elders. She's part of the radical pro-life party, Victus.

Amy returns to Roarton after being tasked with some secret mission and staying with some other PDS sufferers who follow the Undead Prophet. She reunited with Kieren, who is understandably thrilled to see her.

Maxine is searching through the town's records and is insistent that there are some missing. She and Vicar Odie aren't getting along very well but after she disposes of a rabid Rotter with a power drill, he invites her over for a glass of scotch. He tells her he knows why she wants to have the town records but before the two of them can reveal more details, the Vicar has a heart attack. Maxine runs inside to call for help but when she finds the town records on his desk, she grabs them and leaves him outside to die. She's then shown to be putting up headshots of the undead on the wall of her hotel room.

Kieren meets Amy's new beau, Simon, and the two clash somewhat over differing ideologies regarding their condition and how to deal with the mistreatment they receive. Simon is also like Amy, in his refusal to hide his condition using mousse and contacts. They later come to the Legion pub where Kieren is doing a shift. They're dressed up and mouse/contact-less. They're heckled by Gary and some other hateful townsfolk friends of his. Kieren's had enough and he sticks up for Amy and Simon, ordering them out. Gary tries to attack Kieren but Simon comes up from behind and begins choking him out. The pub-owner pulls out a gun, telling Simon to get off him. Kieren puts his keys to the pub on the bar and leaves with Amy and Simon. It's clear now that he needs to get out and he begins putting some of his belongings together and looking at his passport.

Abbey Grove is preparing for its Christmas Play. Fraser wants Alfie to direct it but Alfie is reluctant due to the memory of his doing the Nativity Play as a child, being promised by his mother that she would attend, and looking out in the audience and seeing his mother's empty chair. Fraser tells him he doesn't have to do the Nativity Play and could do something non-denominational instead. Fraser also advises him to get Stephen involved due to his many theatrical endeavours in the past.

Alfie has his class vote between doing a play on Robocop or the Nutcracker. The results end in a tie so Alfie decides that they should do a mash-up, called "Robocracker." It's up to Alfie to write the play and Jing agrees to help him with the auditions. They're largely unimpressive, with the exception of Stephen who does a tremendous number from Flashdance. Much to their shock, school bully Frank Grayson arrives to audition too. Alfie agrees to give him the co-lead out of fear.

Mitchell asks Fraser for help in getting Alfie's mother's to come to the play he will be putting on. Fraser calls her but lies and says that Alfie has been in a horrific car crash. Alfie begin rehearsals with his class plus Frank. He casts Joe as the play's villain, Kim Jong-un. Stephen is playing Robocop and Frank is a boy who wishes his toy Robocop to be alive. The class splits into pairs who take turns rolling atop each other as a trust exercise. Alfie is stuck partnered with Joe and begins to flee when Chantelle roll-chases after him. He bumps into Rosie who asks them who will be joining her and Alfie to go that evening to volunteer at a soup kitchen.

At the soup kitchen, they meet a Scottish homeless man who begins giving students advice when they begin rehearsing their play. He tells them he used to be an actor but his career spiralled downward to the point of him ending up with a roll on Hollyoaks. IT's time for the play and Alfie has invited several of the homeless folks to attend to impress Rosie.

Fraser tells Mitchell Alfie's mum is at Gatwick and they need to figure out a cover. Fraser gives Alfie a neck brace and tells him to put it on because narrators can get hurt doing all that reading. The play begins and things are rough. Frank has refused to wear the lower half of his costume, opting to wear gym shorts instead. Stephen falls off the stage in his first scene before climbing back on to carry on. The homeless actor heckles them and Frank's acting is poor with his lines being delivered too loud. Mitchell moons the audience and Alfie tackles him before calling an interval.

The play resumes and Alfie is amazed when he sees his mother arrive. The play carries on and towards the end, Frank delivers his moving lines and snogs Stephen (when it was supposed to be a hug that brought him back to life as a real boy). The play receives a standing ovation. Alfie greets his mother and learns about Fraser's lying, saying he was in an accident, as well as the fact that getting her to come was all Mitchell's idea. Alfie's "Uncle Xavier" mistakes Rem Dogg for Alfie before having his mistake corrected. Alfie introduces them to Rosie and his mother announces they will be staying until he is better.

They all gather around for Christmas dinner with everyone from the play, staff, and some additional guests. Frank reveals to Stephen he had sent him the West Ham ticket for Secret Santa and asks him whether he wants to go. Stephen agrees and Frank says it's not a big deal. Stephen tells him to "give it up, babes." Alfie asks Mitchell if the donkey he had asked him to get (to adopt for Rosie's Christmas present) had arrived and Mitchell reveals that they are currently eating it for dinner. Rosie presents Alfie with his present, Michael Buble's Christmas album. Alfie is thrilled and Rosie tells him she loves him.

Teacher Alfie Wickers on a school trip to a farm

Series 1, Episode 4 - Full Synposis

Both Alfie Wickers' and Rosie Gulliver's classes set out on a field trip to a petting zoo and ink museum, but not before hearing a few (racist) zingers from the bus driver. On the way over, Alfie confiscates some mini bottles of liquor from the wannabe-tough-guy of his students, Mitchell, and has his "heinous" hiking boots and hair insulted by Stephen. During his explanation of his attire being selected for the outdoors, he unzips his jacket to reveal a multi-purpose utility harness tightly wrapped around his body. One particularly noticeable item attached is a spork.

Upon being enquired by Rem as to why they could not have gone paint-balling instead, for "artistic" purposes, Alfie relays the request to Miss Gulliver. Despite his disappointment at her not agreeing to switch the field trip's destination, Alfie conveys his relief that it is at least better than the boring poetry field trip that Headmaster Fraser is apparently taking another group of students to. The scene cuts away to reveal that the "poetry" trip is actually to a rap battle taking place at a club. Additionally, Deputy Headmistress  Isobell Pickwell's field trip is to a pig slaughterhouse.

Alfie suggests taking the students camping on the way back, but Miss Gulliver states that she must be back by seven in order to go on a blind date. Alfie is unabashedly miffed and rants about the flaws this date is likely to have. Upon hearing the age, occupation, and other attributes of this blind date, Alfie is particularly offended, as each attribute matches him entirely. He has yet to be able to gain Miss Gulliver's affections.

Alfie goes on to express his displeasure at not being able to have organised his own field trip for his class. Miss Gulliver reminds him that the previous time he was able to do so, the class' science trip ended up being a trip to the cinema to watch the notorious horror film, "The Human Centipede." Alfie immediately deflects responsibility for the mishap on Mitchell, who had apparently made claims that the film was akin to "Spiderman." Alfie states that had he been given the choice, he would have taken the class on a trip to learn how to survive in the wilderness, in case The Hunger Games ever came true. Though Miss Gulliver laughs at this, Alfie warns her that she won't be laughing when Jing is shooting one of Miss Gulliver's students with a bow and arrow.

The class arrives at Shrubwood Farm, where caretaker Filch (no, the character's name is not stated, but he is portrayed by David Bradley) warns the group that the farm has a worm epidemic, having spent all morning fishing a massive worm out of a weasel. He declares a "look, but don't touch" policy, before attempting to jest that a private dance may be arranged later. Chantelle attempts to speak with Alfie once again, having attempted to do so earlier on the bus, but he again dismisses her. Caretaker Filch attempts to answer a barrage of absurd questions from the students, and even Alfie.

Miss Gulliver laments the poor state of the animals, and is further distressed when the farmers display a mutant pig with a rhinoceros-like horn. We are once again provided with a glimpse of the rap-battle field trip, where Headmaster Fraser appears to be enjoying himself tremendously, and even lifts his shirt up to reveal a piercing on his left nipple. Headmistress Pickwell is basking in her enjoyment of shooting a pig, and thereby getting splashed with blood. She asks if any of the students would like to "play god." Back at the farm, everyone is tremendously bored.

Alfie confides in Joe about his displeasure at Miss Gulliver going on a date, after being caught drinking the confiscated liquor and ranting his feelings to the rhino-pig. Though Joe pragmatically suggests that Alfie confess his feelings, Alfie drunkenly releases the pig as a misguided means of pleasing Miss Gulliver, who had stated earlier that she wished for the pig to be free. When he approaches her and says that they had better get going, she immediately gets suspicious and enquires what he has done. Though he denies doing anything, and states he doesn't want her to miss her date, she doesn't load everyone back onto the bus till he mentions the possibility of her buying some furs to look nice.

When the bus driver insists on Alfie driving so that he may use the restroom, Alfie accidentally hits the pig. Miss Gulliver finds the horn, which had turned out to be fake, and demands to know who freed the pig. Joe takes the blame after succumbing to the insistent gaze from Alfie. When Miss Gulliver is touched by the gesture, Alfie is irritated.

Upon going into the woods, Alfie attempts to impress the group by bringing forth a dead bird and berries. Despite protests from Miss Gulliver that the berries are poisonous, he eats them out of pride and eventually hallucinates while under their influence. He defecates in the river, upsetting some fishermen and Miss Gulliver. She explodes by stating that his immaturity has ruined this and many other things, and his slightly inebriated confession of his feelings does nothing to remedy the situation.

While Alfie is sitting alone, Chantelle and Stephen come over, and reassure him. Chantelle confesses that she had just been dumped by an older boy she was seeing, for not being mature enough. The two of them bring Alfie back over to the group. Alfie attempts to delegate responsibilities to the group so that they may start a fire, before nearly every student pulls out lighters of their own. Meanwhile at the rap battle, Fraser attempts to participate before angering his rival competitor. Back in the woods, Alfie spots a couple in a car engaging in coitus, and attempts to ask for a lift back. They agree to help, once they have finished, and Alfie learns that the couple is actually a group of five. Fraser wins his rap battle.

Alfie and Miss Gulliver have a heart-to-heart, where Alfie apologises and states that his antics are merely failed attempts to impress her. They hug, and Alfie throws up on her back due to the berries. The group gets a lift back in a timely manner, and Miss Gulliver attempts to go on her date. He is waiting at the school to pick her up, and is revealed to be Finley, the older boy who had dumped Chantelle. She angrily chases him off, and is followed by Stephen, protesting that he's not worth it.

Back at the rap battle, Fraser is shown to have lost track of his students.

Fraser gives the school's remaining funds to a man claiming to be the Nigerian Minister of Finance, with the promise of massive returns on the investment. Needless to say, it is a scam and the school is left in financial ruin. The staff brainstorms how to raise funds and Professor Green implements an austerity drive, which leads to several cuts. Alfie is tasked with teaching a biology class in addition to his history class. Green plans to shut down the library, too. The heat is shut down, leading Alfie's pupils to bundle up in thick winter clothing. They are horrified to learn that they'll have to go to St. Edward's if Abbey Grove is closed.

Rosie tells Alfie she has applied for a job at a school in Soweto, saying she needs a change in her life. He implores her not to leave, saying the school needs her as does he. She tells him she has only applied and to wait and see. Green continues with the budget cuts, planning to sell all the school's books and asks Rosie and Alfie to get the kitchen staff to work for free. Green asks Alfie to stay behind and asks her to begin calling her "Mummy."

The kitchen staff walk out when they are asked to work for free, minus the one worker who has hearing aids. Rosie finds that Green has sold the food and they have nothing to serve. Alfie decides to use the dead frogs used for dissection in biology to make frogs legs dishes. Alfie's pupils present him with a small jar of money consisting of their pocket money. They want it to go towards Abbey Grove but Alfie gives it back to them, saying there must be a better way.

Fraser tells Alfie he only has two days to pay the bank back. He butters the floor to try to have a student fall, which he will record, put on the internet, and profit off of when it goes viral. He baits a student into slipping but forgets to record it.

Alfie visits Rosie, who tells him she got offered a job at Soweto. Alfie attempts to profess his feelings to her to get her to stay but he chickens out and says that he is an alcoholic. She knows he is lying and is unimpressed by the attempt. He tries to prove that he is crazy and will drink anything by consuming a glass of sea monkeys.

Alfie reaches his class and finds that Green is trying to take his television and collection of videos which she intends to sell. Alfie becomes determined to put on a fundraiser and convinces Fraser to give him permission by saying that his band can play at it. Rosie suggests they auction staff members off for labour. They struggle to get people to attend the fundraiser, though Alfie's dad does show up to spend time with Green. Alfie has Rem Dogg use his being in a wheelchair to guilt people into attending and spending money.

At the end of the day, they have only managed to raise £1,000. They decide to go ahead with the man auction as a last resort. Fraser ends up sold for £100 to Gladys, the hard-of-hearing lunch lady. Rosie becomes emotional when introducing Alfie to the man auction, saying he exemplifies what she will miss about Abbey Grove. She begins his auction by bidding £50 for him. Grayson, Chantelle, and Rosie bid for him but then Jing announces that a man she is standing with is making a bid on behalf on a mystery bidder for £25,000. Alfie is sold and Abbey Grove is saved.

Rosie tells Alfie she will not be going to South Africa and says that she needs the school. Alfie is about to kiss her but she says they made this mistake last time - kissing in front of the kids. They run off to snog elsewhere and stumble across Alfie's dad Martin hooking up with Professor Green in the bounce house. They stop long enough to tell Alfie that they are getting married. Green tries to charge Alfie and have him "hug Mummy" but her high heel punctures the bounce house and it traps her and Martin inside.

Alfie and Rosie are about to kiss but Jing interrupts to say that the anonymous bidder says he has to leave immediately otherwise the deal is off. A driver opens the door of the SUV waiting for him to get in. Rosie kisses Alfie and promises to be there when he gets back. Alfie cops a feel before getting into the car. He finds that the anonymous bidder is Pickwell. She tells him the German consult she had previously told him about died recently and left her all the gold he had stashed in Switzerland. He asks what she could possibly want him to do for £20,000. She hands him a saddle and rides around on his back.

It's Drugs Awareness Day at Abbey Grove. Stephen is upset that his parents want him to change schools because they feel Abbey Grove is not academic enough. He asks Alfie to have Rosie convince his parents to let him stay because he thinks she is persuasive.

Rosie attempts to give her presentation to Alfie's class but then Fraser arrives with his guest speaker India and interrupts. Rosie doesn't approve of her methods and the two clash. Alfie asks Rosie if she is jealous of India. Alfie and India bond and she invites him to go out and party. Ironically, she is quite keen on consuming in recreational drugs. He pretends to have access to a drug called "Dirty Vienetta" (something he has fabricated).

Alfie buys tickets to a rave from Grayson and tries to buy drugs off of him too but ends up being blackmailed by him. Professor Green sees the interaction take place. Since Alfie can't find a way to buy drugs, he decides to make them instead. He is summoned to Green's office who tells him she saw him give money to Grayson. She tells him she understands addiction, citing her sexual addiction to Alfie's father as an example.

Rosie catches Alfie preparing to cook up drugs with some of his pupils and they get into an argument. Once he has cooked some "Dirty Vienetta" cooked up, he shows it to India, who mistrusts its appearance. He scoops some of it into his mouth and ends up throwing up on India's lap. He wanders the hallways high and spots Fraser in the loo dressed as a prawn. He then begins to believe he is a mermaid and wanders back into the classroom where Green is giving a presentation with two police officers and a drug-sniffing dog. He begins babbling believing he is Ariel, Green is Ursula, and Joe is Flounder.

Joe runs out of the classroom to get Rosie to come help Alfie. She is reluctant to help but Joe tells her this whole business with India is just his way of trying to prove he is over Rosie even though he isn't. When Rosie comes in, Alfie is wearing a red mop on his head and yellow paper seashells. He makes a fool of himself in front of Stephen's parents, who are visiting. Rosie plays along and claims Alfie is playing a character to teach about the consequences of drug abuse. Alfie's pupils play along and Rosie subtly gets Green to see that firing Alfie and having him arrested would ruin her chances with his father. Stephen's parents agree to let him stay at Abbey Grove despite the fact that Alfie pees his pants.

Following the mayhem, Alfie visits Green's office and finds his dad sitting at her desk. He is getting a blow job from Green, who is crouched beneath it.

It's Valentine's Day and Alfie's dad drops him off at Abbey Grove. They chat about their plans for a Valentine's dinner and Alfie's dad is under the impression that Alfie is still seeing Rosie. Professor Celia Green is the new deputy headmistress and when Alfie's dad comes into the school and spots her, he reconnects with her as they went to teacher training college together.

Joe is in love with a girl named Allison. Celia and Alfie bump heads over the fact that he doesn't enforce his pupils' wearing the school uniform. Alfie begins trying to get Rosie to agree to come to Valentine's dinner with him at his dad's place. Mitchell tells Alfie that he'll get his sister to be his date for the evening. Chantelle comes in and announces she is pregnant. Alfie tells the staff about this even though he had promised not to tell anyone.

Fraser decides to put on a dating show ("Take Me Out") for the students and Alfie suggests having Allison be on the show to give Joe an opportunity to try to get close to her. Chantelle tells Alfie she plans to name the baby after him. It ends up being a disaster as Joe ends up locked in a porto-potty that falls over but luckily Allison appears to be interested in him. He is about to ask her out but then Celia pulls the plug on the lights. She announces that Chantelle is pregnant in front of everyone. Chantelle is upset that Alfie broke his promise. There is a brief moment where Alfie is believed to be the baby's father (because of the baby name) but Alfie insists that he is not the father and is more like Jean Valjean from Les Mis. He then sings to prove his point, at the suggestion of Stephen. Celia says that she will call the police on Alfie but then Chantelle announces that she is not pregnant and just wanted to make it seem as if someone loved her.

Joe happily tells Alfie Allison has agreed to go on a date with him. Alfie asks Joe to come over and cook a Valentine's meal and he agrees to do so. Mitchell tells Alfie his sister won't be available but his brother's girlfriend can come in her place. At the dinner, Alfie's father tells him he has a date coming and when Alfie answers the door, he finds that it is Celia. When Alfie's father announces that Alfie is dating Rosie and she will be coming to dinner, Alfie pulls Celia into the kitchen and asks her to go along with it.

When the pretend-Rosie arrives, Alfie is horrified to find that the "girlfriend" is an elderly prostitute. He bribes her to leave and sulks through dinner as his father and Celia maintain a cutesy, touchy-feely vibe. Alfie is about to admit his lie about Rosie when the doorbell rings. Rosie is at the door and she tells him she and Alex have broken up. She had hoped that Alfie would cheer her up. After he was there for Chantelle, she felt compelled to be there for him. Alfie says he is willing to tell his father the truth but Rosie says she doesn't mind being his girlfriend for the night.

They head back in and Joe tells them that Alfie's father is showing Celia Alfie's room. They sit awkwardly on the sofa with the sound of the pair having very loud sex. Alfie is horrified to learn that Joe has tweeted about this, so now the entire student body knows that Alfie's father is having sex with the new headmistress. Celia and Alfie's father emerge from the bedroom with messed up clothing and smudged lipstick. Celia says goodnight and Alfie's father meets Rosie.

Alfie and his pupils prank call Pickwell and when she storms off to their classroom, they are not in there. However, it is rigged so that she is covered in goop and has feathers blown onto her to make her resemble a chicken. Following the prank, Fraser announces to the staff that Pickwell has gone missing and makes it clear that "Chickengate" might have had something to do it. Her car has been found by authorities abandoned by the side of the road. Alfie then finds a suicide note from her in his teacher mail slot. In it, she blames Alfie for her jumping off the bridge, though Alfie says another name when reading it out loud.

Fraser promotes Rosie as interim head mistress while he looks for a more permanent replacement. Alfie is haunted by guilt over Pickwell's suicide and the blame she placed on him. He begins to wonder if he's being haunted by her so at the suggestion of his pupils, he decides to put on a memorial for her. Alfie is further alarmed when Rosie shows up during the planning with a hairstyle much like Pickwell's.

Alfie assists Fraser with the interviews for Pickwell's replacement. The applicants include a man who has been working in medieval-themed pornography, a woman whose name is "Gay Phistor," a man named "Mark Skid," and a man that may or may not be suffering from PTSD. Power seems to be going to Rosie's head, as her demeanour continues to become increasingly Pickwell-like. Also, Alfie is still seeing visions of Pickwell.

When Fraser announces that Pickwell's funeral is coming up, he asks to go with the attention of  appeasing his guilt. He brings Joe along. At the funeral, Alfie asks to say a few words, but upon getting up to the front, Joe points out that they are at the wrong funeral. Rosie threatens to report Fraser because of all the medieval pornography now on campus if he doesn't offer her the position permanently.

Grayson threatens Alfie and pulls him into a classroom, only to break down crying because of Pickwell's suicide. He then forces Alfie to give himself a wedgie as a cover for what they were doing together in the classroom. Alfie has another vision of Pickwell, made more frightening by the fog on the ground, which is later shown to be the result of a chemistry experiment. Joe loses his mobile phone and it's revealed to be in the casket of the man whose funeral he and Alfie mistakenly crashed.

Pickwell's memorial is underway, with all of Alfie's pupils dressed up in black and reading the various interactions they'd had with Pickwell. None are all that moving, though they all read them as if they are. Things begin to go wrong. They release some pigeons, wanting them to be like doves, but instead they end up defecating on the pupils. The wrong music begins playing, and the portrait of Pickwell is also defecated on, making her appear to have a Hitler-stache.

Alfie and Rosie make up and Rosie returns to her normal physical appearance as well as behaviour. Alfie heads into the art closet and begins making some pottery before Pickwell sneaks up behind him and reveals that she faked her death and cashed in her life insurance. She plans to visit a pen-pal in Argentina but needs a thousand pounds from Alfie first to get away. He tells her she will be missed and that Grayson was devastated. She reveals that she had also made him feel he was to blame for her death. In total, she had done this to about five people. She thanks him for the memorial, saying it was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen. She kisses him and smacks his cheek before walking out.

Alfie and his pupils are playing Class Wars but are interrupted by new teacher Kevin Schwimer, an American. He says that he has been tasked with taking over Alfie's class and Pickwell has merely failed to tell him so. Fraser calls an assembly to welcome Schwimer to the school. He begins listing his accomplishments including winning a gold medal for Team USA at the recent London Olympics. He also begins cracking jokes to charm the students and staff. Alfie tries to crack jokes but fails to charm people in the same way.

Alfie expresses his displeasure to Fraser about losing his class. Fraser tells him that Pickwell has threatened to report him to various child-services if he doesn't do what she says. Alfie then confronts Pickwell, saying she can't take his class away from him but she remains unmoved. She introduces him to his new form, 2J, and they are a wildly rambunctious group. He tricks Schwimer into leaving the class to aid an injured (fabricated) student. He speaks to his pupils and finds that they have grown fond of Schwimer and are impressed by his many accomplishments.

Alfie attempts to flirt with Pickwell to get his class back but when she demands sexual favours in return, he's unable to go through with it. He is upset to find that Rosie, his pupils, and even Grayson prefer Schwimer to him. Alfie embarrasses and injured himself trying to do a skateboard trick in front of his former pupils and Schwimer.

Alfie begins packing up his belongings and Jing then comes in asking to talk to him. She says that Schwimer isn't who he says he is. She finds that one of his photos of his accomplishments is poorly photoshopped and claimed to have attended Harvard in California when it is actually in Massachusetts. She tells Alfie that although he is an idiot, at least he is a kind man. They then team up and begin finding the inconsistencies in his story.

Alfie and Jing confront Schwimer at recess in front of the pupils about all the lies he has told. Jing calls him a compulsive liar and he admits he just wanted them to like him. Schwimer is dressed in armour to teach a lesson and has old-fashioned weapons. Alfie believes they are more lies and begins waving a gun around. It goes off and Joe ends up shot in the bum. Alfie fires the other gun into the air as a distress signal and ends up shooting Pickwell's hawk. He puts the guns into Schwimer's hands as Pickwell comes running over. She is distraught over the death of her bird and Rosie looks after Joe, asking Alfie what he has done. Schwimer says that he is responsible and admits his lies, saying he has a problem. He then begins changing his accent repeatedly and tells a few more lies. Pickwell threatens to rip his balls off if he ever returns to campus again. Alfie is given his pupils back and they rejoice.

The episode ends with another game of Class Wars.

Joe returns for the new term with a bowl cut performed by his father. Mitchell has gotten a tattoo of Chinese characters up his side that are his order whenever he orders takeout. Alfie comes in and has the same bowl haircut as Joe, also done by his father.

Alfie is under the impression that Rosie is now his girlfriend. With the upcoming swimming gala, Mr. Fraser decides that that they will pay homage to "Splash!" by having the gala end with a synchronised diving competition. Each teacher contributes money to a pot that will be won by whomever coaches their class to victory. Alfie then learns that Rosie is not his girlfriend and has changed her Facebook status to 'In a relationship' after having begun a relationship with a former pupil of hers, Alex, who is a girl.

Alfie has bribed his students with the promise of a trip to Nandos in order to get them to enter the synchronised diving event so he can win the cash prize. Rosie demands that her class be excused from the event and opts to have them participate in non-violent protest against Pickwell's demanding her pupils starve themselves to achieve an Olympic-level body mass. After Mitchell is injured, Alfie determines that Stephen and Joe will dive for his class.

The swimming gala begins and Pickwell's swimmer's sweep the various events while Rosie's class is indeed boycotting the events. When it's time for the synchronised diving event, Pickwell gets a zero when her partner passes out from starvation and falls far before Pickwell. They earn a zero. Alfie gives Joe a pep talk, as he is self-conscious about his body. Stephen's ankle is injured and Alfie opts to dive with Joe, despite having a strong chlorine allergy. Alfie and Joe score low but still gets them a victory. Alfie's eyes swell up to the point of hardly being able to see. Grayson steals his clothes and towel after he showers. He then pushes Alfie out into the lobby where he encounters Rosie and Alex, along with the rest of the pupils and stuff.

Alfie then brings his pupils to Nandos where he has to buy three beers per person as part of his escalating bribes for their participation.
