"Archer Vice: Arrivals/Departures" - S5E13 (Season 5 Finale) Recap

The CIA decide to invade San Marcos. They had only been selling weapons to Calderone to monetise the cocaine in order to spend the rest of their budget, which they did by doing weapons transactions with Iran. The team realises that they had been unknowingly selling cocaine on behalf of the CIA and Lana, who is still in labour, tries to strangle Archer, thinking he knew about this the whole time.

Slater orders an air strike on the palace while Ray and Krieger are still unsuccessful in their attempts to disarm the nerve gas rocket. Mallory tells Cyril and Pam to steal the palace's valuables before they make their escape. Krieger comes up with the idea for them to just remove the nerve gas from the missile, which should make it far less damaging. Meanwhile, the air strike bombs Calderon's place.

They all head to the airport, still in possession of the nerve gas canister, where they meet Lana still in delivery. Pam and Mallory begin taking over the birth process, before which Archer had been attempting to be in charge of it while refusing to look directly at Lana's lady parts. Lana's baby is a girl and everyone boards Calderone's plane.

Lana tells Mallory she quits, still angry that Archer lied to her. Mallory responds by telling her that Archer had no idea about the deal, as she was the one actually responsible for fostering it. Mallory argues with Hawley and they strike up a deal. Hawley can seize the nerve gas, which will no doubt get him a promotion, after which he will reinstate ISIS as a private firm for CIA spy work. Hawley begrudgingly agrees to the deal.

Lana brings Archer over to see her daughter and tells him that she used some of his sperm sample before his cancer and Archer is shocked by the news, beginning to zone out. It takes him a while to understand what he has being told, but he eventually accepts that he now has a baby daughter named Abijean.

Archer will return on FX for Season 6!

"Archer Vice: Palace Intrigue: Part II" - S5E11 Recap

The shelling stops right as Archer was hooking up with Calderone's wife in the butler's pantry. The team then learns about Calderone's buying a million copies of Cherlene's album. Cherlene runs out crying, feeling humiliated. Calderone's wife is angry and is about to reveal her affair with Archer, who interrupts the moment by firing the gun at Cyril. Calderone and his wife throw dishes and china at each other before each leaving to go to their respective rooms. Cyril is revealed to be alive because he was wearing a bullet-proof vest. The team wants to leave but Mallory won't head out until Calderone pays for the weapons. Archer fires the gun again when Lana is about to reveal his affair with Calderone's wife. The news gets out anyway and Mallory decides that they should indeed leave. She also advises the team to be sure to grab Cherlene and anything else that might be valuable.

Krieger is bonding with the clones of him, deciding he's better off with them instead of the team, whom he overheard choosing to leave without him. Cyril has been tasked with finding a getaway and finds Calderone's massive collection of luxury cars. Calderone is trying to make Cherlene feel better, telling her he wanted to distribute her record to the poor to spread her music. She doesn't fall for it since she knows they don't even have record players. Archer and Lana are looking at Calderone's giant white painting and Lana slashes it out of the frame whilst making a symbolic insult to Archer's penis.

Calderone offers to divorce his wife to be with Cherlene and have him stay but Calderone's wife hears it and is furious, saying she will never divorce him even though she has never loved him. She draws a gun and tells Calderone about her affair with Archer. Calderone draws his weapon and pulls it on Archer. He fires the weapon and Pam jumps in the bullet's path. Cherlene beats Calderone with her guitar and uses it to absorb the bullets being fired by Calderone's wife. The pair get into a fight and Pam stands up, wearing Cyril's now-invalid bulletproof vest. She is injured but not out yet. Calderone makes his wife drop the gun and Cherlene still lands some slaps on her. Calderone says that his word is literally law in his country and declares himself divorced from his wife and married to Cherlene. He announces that everyone is to be executed except for Cherlene. Krieger overhears this from the surveillance feed. One of Calderone's men comes in and announces that the rebels have made it past the base. A tank comes in and the men drop their weapons and declare their surrender. Cyril then pops up and reveals that he is the one in the tank.

"Archer Vice: Palace Intrigue: Part 1" - S5E10 Recap

The crew are on the plane and Archer likens it to a school bus and declares that they are like the Breakfast Club, assigning each of them a corresponding character. Lana is offended when they try to imply that she might be more like Ally Sheedy than Molly Ringwald. They're on the way to San Marcos to meet Calderone and sell him their newly acquired stash of weapons. The plane lands and they're promptly surrounded by Calderone and members of his military. He demands to know who is in charge and Mallory attempts to lay on some charm before Calderone becomes amazed by Krieger for some unknown reason, demanding everyone else be arrested. He then shoots up the box containing Sherlene and Pam is shot up when he hears a noise by it. When Sherlene pops up, he is thrilled, since she is wildly famous in his country. He brings her back to his palace and gives her a lavish room and pampers her. The others are put into less lavish rooms. Mallory grabs Calderone to talk business with him. A buxom maid comes in and seduces Archer.

Krieger discovers clones of himself working in a lab in the palace. Mallory tells Calderone that the White House has lost faith in him and that he must pay for the weapons himself. He claims he doesn't have the money for it even though he is surrounded by lavish items. The buxom towel maid from earlier comes in and introduces herself as Calderone's wife. Archer is uncomfortable and tries to leave, but Mallory won't let him. She makes thinly veiled references to her hook-up with Archer that make him squirm till he runs out. He encounters Krieger who has been telling the others about the clones he saw. Archer then encounters Lana and tells her about his recent hook-up. She responds by giving him advice: a swift punch to his crotch. The gang gathers round for dinner and when Sherlene shows up, and Calderone has them toast Sherlene's album going platinum. She's in disbelief since it came out yesterday and we then see that Calderone has massive quantities of the album. A soldier comes in and says that rebels have broken through the line. Explosions go off, smashing the windows of the palace.

Archer Vice airs on Mondays on FX at 10PM.

"Archer Vice: On the Carpet" - S5E9 Recap

The team gathers around, with many in various states of disarray, and begin to explain to Mallory how they came to be in that particular state.

Shirlene is topless because she was doing a photo shoot for her album cover. She was only covering it with her rocket pops. Pam suggests that she stick one in her vagina (or bum) and the shoot is delayed when Krieger reveals he hasn't put film in the camera yet.

The men lost the cocaine. Their plane was running low on gas because the flight wasn't prepared to have three passengers on board. They try dumping the guns to lower the weight but then they're forced to land in the field that the plane was originally meant to land in and they're met by armed men who were meant to be making a deal with the Colombians. They were ex-military Americans led by a man named Slater. The cocaine on board is traded for several weapons and are told that Calderone would pay them. Mallory and Archer realise that Calderone refers to Gustavo Calderone is the president of San Marcos. Calderone is barely clinging to power and they realise that they've stumbled backwards into a CIA-backed, anti-Communist, drugs for arms operation. Mallory thinks it's wonderful because it's an opportunity to make some money. Krieger then reveals that he blew up the last of the cocaine in a fit of madness. Mallory declares that they're now in the arms business and that she is dressed up because she just had dinner with Ron. They won't be getting divorced and instead will be going to marriage counselling as well as having an open marriage. Just then, Shirlene gets a call which she announces is from Ron and Mallory knocks her over the head with a bottle. Then Pam's phone rings too, but she doesn't answer.

Archer Vice airs on Mondays on FX at 10PM.

"Archer Vice: The Rules of Extraction" S5E8 Recap

Archer asks Cyril and Ray how much longer they're going to be mad at him and they say it will be for the rest of their lives, which won't be long since they'll be dead soon. They think they're headed to the prison but then the guard tells them that they won't be going there - they'll be killing them instead. The driver swerves to avoid hitting a cow in the road and the car ends up flipping over repeatedly downhill. When it finally lands in the jungle, a tree also falls on top of it. Ray gets to the keys and begins unlocking them.

Mallory wants Lana to find Archer but she's content to wait for him to call in. Mallory gets emotional over everything in her life falling apart. Lana begins to believe the sincerity of Mallory's emotional distress. Pam just wants more cocaine and Chirlene is a hot mess like always.

Archer wants to leave a yet-again paralysed Ray and the guards behind and Cyril tries to hold him at gun point but surrenders it after Archer and Ray laugh at him. They build a raft and begin heading down the river with everyone on it. Archer is cranky because he's afraid of crocodiles. They talk through the fact that if they encounter any un-contacted Native Indians, they should not try to barter with their M-16. They're frightened when they see a crocodile attack a hat that Ray made and threw into the river. More crocodiles attack the raft and tear apart the guards. Archer tosses a can of gasoline towards the end and shoots it, intending to explode them but it merely begins leaking and the crocodiles get back in the water.

Lana proposes that they do something nice for Mallory since she's going through a hard time right now.  Chirlene doesn't understand what Lana is saying and Pam says it's a good idea since it reminded her of her father repeatedly crying. Pam says she is always cheered up by cock and Lana says that it could work. She sets up a spa day for Mallory and when they enter a room, Pam and Chirlene are in costume and prepared to give her a massage. Both they and the men on the raft begin to realise that they don't know who in the group bought the cocaine.

Back on the raft, Ray lights a cigarette and when he tosses his match, half the raft catches on fire. Archer refuses to do anything until Ray apologises, after which he pours gasoline on all of them to repel the crocodiles. They swim to the shore, though Ray is simply carried on the shoulders of Archer. After reaching shore, Archer insists on holding the gun and he also puts Ray back on his shoulders. Talk about an over-achiever.

The womyn tuck Mallory into bed and they being to realise that the men are probably not okay.

In the jungle, Ray says that he resents the fact that Archer assumes that everything's going to be okay and that things will work out. Archer says that they normally do and it's then that they stumble across a plane being loaded with cocaine by some narcos. Archer sneaks up on a guard and has Ray take the man's gun. They threaten to shoot him when they get near the other men but they simply shoot their team member dead. When he drops, we see that Archer now has the stick he had been telling Cyril to use. Cyril opens fire on the men and Archer ends up with a cheek injury. They chain up the other men and learn that the first casualty was the pilot. This is bad since Ray is the only one who knows how to fly and he's paralysed. Archer asks Ray how long it will teach him to fly a plane and Ray retaliates by asking how long it will take him to admit that he dicks around whenever they're in danger just to screw with everybody because of his utter lack of contempt for his own mortality." Archer says, "Well yeah, duh." Ray says that that was all he wanted and then reveals that he is not actually paralysed and jumps off Archer's shoulders. Cyril is furious about the deception but Archer finds it hilarious. As the plane is flying, Cyril panics that they won't be able to land anywhere with all the cocaine on board and Ray says that they will worry about that when they have to, echoing the sentiment Archer had stated earlier.

Archer Vice airs on Mondays on FX at 10PM.

"Archer Vice: Smugglers' Blues" - S5E7 Recap

  • Pam is still a cocaine addict. She would rather be called a "cocaine enthusiast."
  • Archer went to college but flunked out.
  • Cherlene doesn't think all babies should be drowned, just "baby people."
  • Mallory is angry with Archer for bankrupting their cartel.
  • 2000 lbs of cocaine is now down to 1718 lbs. Thanks, Pam.
  • But wait. For once, it wasn't Pam. Archer, Syril, and Ray are flying to Colombia with 100 lbs of cocaine.
  • Archer wants to find "La Madrina" (The Godmother) to get into business with her.
  • Mallory asks Krieger to find them but he says he doesn't have the equipment (such as satellites) at this new facility. They don't even cable here.
  • Krieger is making $2000 a month on a gilf cam, using Woodhouse.
  • When Ray tells Archer not to compare what they're doing to intelligence work, Archer says that selling cocaine to cocaine dealers doesn't compare to helping overthrow democratically elected  governments of Chile, Nicaragua, and Iran. Cyril and Ray are impressed and note that ISIS did many bad things and this cocaine selling seems like a victimless crime.
  • Krieger tracks the boys' location to Colombia, after Ray posted a photo to "Snacklesnap," - an app for posting photos of your food. Mallory doesn't see the point of this and Krieger and Pam tell her that everyone hates it, despite their participating in it.
  • Lana deduces that the cocaine was brought as a sample to show to a cartel boss (La Madrina) that the product is high quality and already in the States, cutting the cost of transport.
  • Archer is making nice with the locals by taking shot and partying with them.
  • Archer reveals he wants to meet La Madrina and the locals agree to make a call so "someone will come."
  • The trio hide when par-militarios (right wing extremists with a propensity for kidnapping and murder) show up. Then, they escape out a window.
  • Archer tells Ray to get in their jeep and wait, while Archer will take out a par-militario guard and Cyril will remove the enemy's truck's distributor cap.
  • They end up in a shootout with the par-militarios but are able to get away.
  • The car overheats and they're forced to stop in the jungle as Archer had packed the engine compartment with cocaine.
  • When they see the par-militarios driving up, Archer checks and finds that Cyril grabbed the wrong piece of the engine.
  • Archer tells all of them to stand down, saying that it's all about machismo. They eventually drop all of their weapons. But it's not because of Archer; La Madrina and her crew have rolled up in a tank.
  • La Madrina and Archer strike up a deal and toast it with some liquor and lots of sex.
  • The following morning, La Madrina reveals herself to be deep undercover and arrests Archer, Cyril, and Ray. When Archer asks why she would have sex with him, she points out that he is "guapo."
  • When Lana tells Mallory that since Ray is not answering his mobile, which he always answers in the field, she says she's actually worried. Mallory pleads with Lana to go rescue Archer.
  • The boys realise they'll probably be murdered in prison, if they even make it there, since they pose a risk to La Madrina by knowing her real identity.
Archer Vice airs on Mondays on FX at 10PM.

"Archer Vice: Baby Shower" - S5E6 Recap

Cherlene and the gang record a song and Lana storms in, furious about their recording at such an early hour in the morning. Cherlene insists that it's the Golden Hour but Lana tells them that this only applies to film and not audio recording. Krieger then says that he wasn't even recording. Mallory comes in and tells Lana to stop bothering them, since the recording is necessary to make a profit. Mallory ends up getting into a discussion with Lana where she advises her to get a wet nurse, saying that she had one for Archer till he was four.

When Archer notices Lana's foul mood, he decides that they should throw a baby shower for her. He sends Woodhouse to the store for party supplies and Archer plans to work with Pam to get Kenny Loggins to play at Lana's baby shower. They manage to track him down but after he autographs Archer's jacket and Archer becomes angry, he stun guns Archer and has him kicked out of the venue. Later, they sneak into his hotel room but are caught. Things escalate until they end up in a shoot-out. The glass pool on the edge of the balcony gets shot by Pam and Kenny nearly falls off the edge but Archer saves him. As thanks, Kenny sings at Lana's bridal shower in a duet with Cherlene. Woodhouse wheels Archer's childhood crib in and when Lana sees how happy she is, he claims that his giving it to her was entirely his idea. He is later infuriated when she doesn't realise that the singer is Kenny Loggins and doesn't recognise the song, "Danger Zone."

"Archer Vice: Southbound and Down" S5E5 Recap

Krieger restores Ray's ability to walk. Mallory tells "Cherlene" she has booked her a gig on Travis County Limits. Cherlene snobbily tells them that she doesn't fly but the gig is in 24 hours but it's a 36 hour drive to Texas. Lana refuses to ride in Archer's dangerous car so he is forced to have Pam sitting shotgun. Archer is driving the tour bus while Mallory, Lana, and Cherlene are on board. Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Krieger is using his robotics installed in Ray to control his actions for his own amusement, such as having him march around like a Nazi.

Mallory says that she is stressed about Shirlene's record deal, because she wants to profit from it, having lost her fortune after the FBI raided ISIS and then her most recent divorce. Archer overhears his mother say that he is even worse at selling cocaine than spying due to their communication devices being open. He reveals to Pam that he has smuggled the cocaine with them but he hasn't actually set up any deal with any buyers.

The next day, the group is surrounded by bikers and Pam reveals to Archer that she told bikers about the cocaine because she wanted them to like her. Cherlene is excited about being kidnapped by bikers and those on the tour bus believe that they are after them Cherlene. Archer is further angered by Pam when he learns that she lost his gun in a game of crabs.

The van crashes into Archer's but no one is hurt. Archer surprisingly covers for Pam and doesn't tell the others about her role in their crash and the bikers attack on them. However, he later slips up and tells them about the cocaine once they are back on the road. They encounter a problem in the form the cops chasing them and Archer agrees to distract them while the others get Cherlene to her gig. Pam also reveals that she switched the cocaine into their car. During the pursuit, she reveals to Archer that she is putting her life in danger with her cocaine habit because she believes she is more liked since it has made her more attractive. Archer tells her she has become a huge asshole and they preferred her before her habit began. They realise that the cops are crooked and Archer is forced to dump the cocaine from the car in order for them to stop pursing them.

Pam leaves the stage after singing one song, much to the displeasure of Mallory and the audience. However, they are approached afterwards by a man looking to sign Cherlene and make gold records. Pam blabs to the group that Archer dumped the group and they all react with anger.

Archer Vice airs on Mondays on FX at 10PM.

"Archer Vice: A House Call" - S5E4 Recap

Cyril shows the team diagrams explaining the amount of cocaine they have lost due to various reasons including the bad deal and Pam's bad business with the Yakuza. Archer makes a joke about British currency being "Doctor Who money" and Pam is found to have gotten more of the cocaine out of the locked stash. The group insists that she go to rehab and she protests, as does Archer when he checks out her noticeably slimmer figure as a result of her habit. She threatens to go to the police if they send her to rehab. Woodhouse smacks her on the back of the head with a frying pan and she is knocked out.

They tie Pam up with the plan of getting her sober but Malory suggests the idea of killing her but Lana says that they won't be doing that. Cheryl comes in and tells Lana that she is fat and is disgusted when Lana reminds her that she has a baby inside her, and further disgusted when Lana states that the baby is not one that she ate but one that she will give birth to.

Krieger comes in with a microscopic mind control chip. They plan to inject it into Pam's skull to end her addiction but then Malory tells Cheryl that the chip will be injected into her to stop her stage fright. Then Pam hulks out, breaking free from her restraints and throws Cheryl over her shoulder before running out with her. Malory and Archer tell Lana "I told you so" and the group plans to go after Pam before Woodhouse tells them an FBI agent is there to see them.

Woodhouse has already invited him in and they must act natural to avoid suspicion. Agent Holly ends up setting off on a protective sweep after hearing Pam's scream. The group scrambles to keep the cocaine from being discovered. Meanwhile, Carol is digging Pam's "Queen Kong" vibe. Agent Holly goes to the source of the scream and finds a drunken Ray. Lana sets off to keep guard of the cocaine. Krieger asks Cyril to remind him to restore Ray's ability to walk. Lana briefly considers making a deal and betraying her friends but also considers what it would mean to be locked up. Archer comes in and says that he knows Lana is considering making a deal. They engage in argumentative banter before they bond and kind-of hug.

Agent Holly is outside the door and repeatedly slamming the door to try to get in. Archer and Lana must come up with a plan but Lana begins to hit Archer repeatedly for not taking things seriously. Carol tells Pam where to go to get more cocaine as her rage and energy is beginning to dwindle. Ron walks out on Malory. Krieger and Cyril come in via revolving wall and Pam begins to devour cocaine on the other side. Archer uses his knowledge of Scooby Doo to make the wall revolve and they unload several tranquillisers into Pam and one into Carol. Everyone except Archer and Lana, along with the cocaine spin back around just in time as Agent Holly walks in. While they're safe for now, Holly warns that he will be keeping an eye out on them due to their having several international connections.

Krieger and Cyril debate whether to give Cheryl the brain chip, potentially catapulting her into country music stardom, or Pam, so she will be cured from her cocaine addiction. They end up putting it in Cheryl and she claims that she will now be known as Cherlene.

Archer Vice airs on Mondays on FX at 10/9c.

"Archer Vice: A Debt of Honor" - S5E3 Recap

The gang is regrouping on how to proceed following the loss of the 20 kilos in exchange for the counterfeit million. They still have 2,000 pounds of cocaine minus a few because of Pam, who is still ferociously addicted to cocaine, devouring mass quantities of it as much as she can. Cyril points out that the counterfeit bills aren't good enough to put into a bank, but good enough to use on the streets. Mallory states that they need a big-ticket item and Archer proposes Cadillacs - he wants to open a dealership but this foolish idea is shot down by the group. Cyril proposes they buy guns since  the government seized the ISIS weapons and all they have is one of Sterling's guns, and Lana's ammo-less supply.

The group realises none of them locked up the money and find that Pam has used all the money to buy amphetamines from some Yakuza members she used to drift-race with. The Yakuza come to hunt her down and retrieve the pills upon realising the bills are counterfeit. The group is prepared to return the pills but also learn that they also want to cut Pam's head off. They can't call the police because of all the cocaine on the premises. Carol is furious about the commotion when she is trying to compose a smash country hit and attempts to buy them off. However, they won't accept a bribe because it is a "debt of honour." Luckily, Carol has a massive stock of old, loaded rifles and the group makes plans to defend themselves, till Ron is shot. Carol reveals that the house has loads of secret tunnels due to her ancestor wanting to recapture runaway slaves from the "underground railroad" and return them to their owners. Archer makes it out, holds the head of the Yakuza captive and enjoys the booze supply in his limo. He is warned that the Yakuza will never forget the debt of honour even if he kills this leader. Archer argues that since his step-father is shot, the "blood" has been paid. The Yakuza insists on sweetening the deal so they are given 5 million dollars worth of cocaine.

Also, throughout the episode, we see that Woodhouse is trapped beneath a medicine ball in the mansion gym and Ray is drunk/eventually passed out in his wheelchair wearing nothing but briefs. At the end of the episode, Archer laughs heartily when Woodhouse's mobile phone ends up destroyed.

Archer Vice airs on Mondays on FX at 10/9c.

Ramon helps the team go after them and Rudy, Charles, and Ramon all end up dead. When Lana busts in, she finds Archer kissing a dying and eventually dead Ramon. In the end, the team learns that the whole thing was a ruse in order to steal the cocaine, pay ISIS in counterfeit bills, and make the team think that the trio of buyers was dead when it actuality, they are alive and well and in possession of the 20 kilos of cocaine. Goodbye, Archer. Hello Archer Vice! S5E1 - "White Elephant" Recap

Archer waltzes into the ISIS office, basking in his life and status as a spy, when suddenly an explosion goes off and a shootout ensues from an unknown team of assailants. Friendly reminder that Lana is pregnant. Brett ends up dead in the shootout, while Archer comically rants about Beaker and seems determined to find out who Beaker's boss is. Archer kills one of the gunmen and then he sees that their attackers are FBI. It turns out that the team is under arrest for treason because ISIS was never sanctioned by the government. The team was unaware and Malory was the only one who knew. In the van, she tells them they must all keep their mouths shut when questioned so they don't go to prison. Everyone ignores her and spill all kinds of personal and professional secrets. Everyone thought they'd get immunity but the FBI had tricked them and never intended to actually give it to them. Archer attempts to propose to Lana and she turns him down, making him emotional. The two of them end up breaking out the agents and holding FBI agents hostage. Finally, they reach Malory and find that she is making a deal where she agrees to disband/turn over ISIS and cease all operations in exchange for the FBI not being liable. The gang discusses their plans for the future (Cheryl wants to be a country singer). They realise that they have 50 million dollars worth of cocaine still in their possession and they decide to form a cartel. A montage of what's to come for this season ensues, consisting of all kinds of drug cartel-related-shenanigans. Archer utters the words, "Archer Vice," and when questioned about it by Lana, he replies, "Shut up."

The show formally known as Archer will now be known as Archer Vice. Gone are the missions that were never actually sanctioned by the government. The Cold War is over and things are getting revamped. Considering how not-by-the-book everyone's approach was to begin with, seeing them acting in a life of crime is sure to yield even more chaotic and profane hilarity. Stay tuned for this season of Archer Vice; it's going to be one hell of a ride!
