KEVIN SMITH, JAMIE LEE CURTIS, JON FAVREAU, GINA TORRES AND MORE CONFIRMED TO APPEAR AT THE 45TH ANNUAL SATURN AWARDS
THE ANNUAL CELEBRATION WILL FEATURE A CALVALCADE OF BELOVED PERFORMERS FROM FILM AND TELEVISION
The Saturn Awards organization today announced exciting new show elements as well as who is expected to appear at the 45th annual celebration taking place on Friday, the 13th of September (6pm PT / 9pm ET).
The show will feature appearances from beloved film and television performers and story tellers including: Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Gina Carano (The Mandalorian), Jon Cryer (Supergirl), Cameron Cuffe (Krypton), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Dean Devlin (Outpost), The Duffer Brothers(Stranger Things), Jon Favreau (Visionary Award recipient), Kevin Feige (Stan Lee World Builder Award recipient), Robert Forster (Twin Peaks, Jackie Brown), Vince Gilligan (Better Call Saul), Jessica Green(The Outpost), Harvey Guillen (What We Do in the Shadows), Faithe Herman (Shazam), Sydney Lemmon (Fear the Walking Dead), Jeph Loeb (Dan Curtis Legacy Award Recipient), Christopher Markus (Avengers: Endgame), Stephen McFeely (Avengers: Endgame), Tonya Pinkins (Fear the Walking Dead), Lance Reddick (Bosch, John Wick), Kevin Smith (Jay and Silent Bob Reboot), George Takei (Star Trek), Henry Thomas (The Haunting of Hill House), Jennifer Tilly (Bound, Bride of Chucky), Gina Torres (Pearson, Firefly), and Daphne Zuniga (Spaceballs), The show will also feature holographic appearances by some of the biggest virtual YouTubers and digital performers in Japan, including Kizuna AI (2.68M YT Subscribers) and Kaguya Luna (996K YT Subscribers).
The show format reboot is built specifically for the social media age with a number of unique interactive presentations and fandom firsts including: live “Fantasy Fight” panels where creators and stars argue who would win in mythic mash ups (such as Star Wars vs. Star Trek), fan influencers participating in the award presentation, a once in a lifetime performance from acclaimed musician Lindsey Stirling (11MM YouTube subscribers) and fan social media competitions to win two Lindsey signed violins live.
Kevin Smith will reveal an exclusive, never before seen clip from his latest film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. Smith wrote and directed the new film which will be released on October 15, 2019.
The 2019 Saturn Awards will take place on Friday, the 13th of September at 6:00PM PT/9:00PM ET at the historic Avalon Theater in Hollywood and will be streamed globally on the Saturn YouTube Channel, the Saturn Awards website, and the Saturn Award app, available on iOS and Android. Since 1973, the Saturn Awards honor the very best in science-fiction, fantasy and horror entertainment and is the official award presentation of the non-profit Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. The Academy was founded in 1972 by noted film historian Dr. Donald A. Reed to recognize films often overlooked by mainstream awards. These new partnerships will expand the Saturn Awards brand to create a home for fandom year-round, with new content currently in development and capitalizing on decades of never-before-seen exclusive archival awards show footage with fandom’s legendary icons over its 45-year history.
