PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY BEGINS ON ORION PICTURES’ GRETEL AND HANSEL IN DUBLIN

Directed by Osgood Perkins and Starring Sophia Lillis, Sammy Leakey,
Charles Babalola, Alice Krige and Jessica De Gouw

Production on Orion Pictures' horror reimagining of the classic story Gretel and Hansel is underway in Dublin, it was announced today by John Hegeman, President, Orion Pictures. Starring breakout actress Sophia Lillis (It, HBO’s Sharp Objects) as Gretel, Sammy Leakey as Hansel, Charles Babalola (Mary Magdalene, Netflix’s Black Mirror) as The Hunter, and Alice Krige (Star Trek: First Contact, Sleepwalkers) and Jessica De Gouw (NBC’s Dracula, CW’s Arrow) as the witches. Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House) directs from a screenplay he wrote with Rob Hayes (Netflix’s Chewing Gum). 

A long time ago in a distant fairytale countryside, a young girl leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.

Automatik Entertainment’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister, Upgrade) and Fred Berger (La La Land, Autopsy of Jane Doe) will produce the film with Sandra Yee Ling serving as executive producer. Dan Kagan will oversee the project on behalf of Orion Pictures.

Collaborating with Perkins is a creative team led by Director of Photography Galo Olivares (Netflix’s Roma), production designer Jeremy Reed (My Dinner with HervĂ©, Factory Girl), costume designer Leonie Prendergast (Becoming Jane, Reign of Fire), special effects supervisor Paul Byrne (HISTORY’s Vikings, Doomsday), editor Josh Ethier (Bullet Head, Leatherface) and makeup and hair team Liz Byrne (King Arthur, What If) and Linda Gannon Foster (ABC’s Quantico, Pilgrimage).
