“TRUE BLOOD was always addictive, in a strange, hypnotic – and disturbing – way. Right now, however, it just might be one of TV's finest dramas.” – Alex Strachan, Postmedia News
“TRUE BLOOD is no longer a young vampire, yet after six seasons the series continues to draw viewers and is the most-watched show on HBO.” – Laura Russell, TV Guide Canada
“Yep, TRUE BLOOD is back and it’s about time. By all accounts, Alan Ball and crew are as devoted to this series’ supernatural mythos as Game of Thrones’ creators are to the goings-on in Westeros. But the adventures of Sookie Stackhouse and the vampires, werewolves, shape shifters and others who populate Bon Temps, Louisiana, are served up with a wink.” – Debra Yeo,Toronto Star
TORONTO (June 12, 2014) – Viewers take a final walk through Bon Temps with more gory action and steamy romances in the seventh and final season of HBO’s TRUE BLOOD, premiering Sunday, June 22 at 9 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada, day and date with HBO in the U.S. The critically acclaimed series joins HBO’s can’t-miss summer programming along with previously announced new series THE LEFTOVERS, THE KNICK, and the new Canadian dramedy SENSITIVE SKIN. At the conclusion of Season 6, the town of Bon Temps braced itself for a new crisis that would threaten humans and vampires alike: Sookie (Anna Paquin, SUSANNA) was forced to take a hard look at her future: Bill (Stephen Moyer, JAN) discovered that salvation comes at a price, and Eric’s (Alexander Skarsgård, GENERATION KILL) ultimate fate remained a mystery. Now, as the series kicks off its final season, a band of rogue H-vamps crashes the vampire-human mixer at Bellefleur’s, with shocking results; Sookie seeks refuge from accusations that she’s somehow to blame for the chaos in Bon Temps; the “one vampire for every human” plan moves forward; and in the face of a vigilante insurrection led by redneck Vince (Brett Rickaby, DEXTER), Bill receives aid from an unexpected source.
TRUE BLOOD has grown steadily season over season to become one of the most-watched series on Pay TV. Season 6 was the most-watched season in series history with an average audience of 637,000 P2+, and was the #2 program on HBO Canada last year, behind GAME OF THRONES Season 3.
Mixing romance, suspense, mystery, and humour, the Golden Globe® and Emmy® Award-winning series takes place in a world where vampires and humans co-exist, after vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source. The series follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse, who can hear people’s thoughts, vampire Bill Compton, and vampire Eric Northman.
The Season 7 cast of TRUE BLOOD includes Sam Trammell (The Fault In Our Stars) as Sam, Ryan Kwanten (SUMMERLAND) as Jason, Rutina Wesley (13 Sins) as Tara, Chris Bauer (PARKS AND RECREATION) as Andy, Kristin Bauer van Straten (THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER) as Pam, Amelia Rose Blaire (Angels in Stardust) as Willa, Lauren Bowles (Hall Pass) as Holly, Tara Buck (CRIMINAL MINDS) as Ginger, Gregg Daniel (Hancock) as Rev. Daniels, Nelsan Ellis (The Help) as Lafayette, Aaron Christian Howles (WILD CARDS: THE WEB SERIES) as Rocky, Joe Manganiello (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER) as Alcide, Noah Matthews (The Ugly Truth) as Wade, Bailey Noble (SECRET DIARY OF AN AMERICAN CHEERLEADER) as Adilyn, Nathan Parsons (THE ORIGINALS) as James (previously played by Luke Grimes, Taken 2), Adina Porter (HBO’s THE NEWSROOM) as Lettie Mae, Carrie Preston (PERSON OF INTEREST) as Arlene, Jurnee Smollett-Bell (PARENTHOOD) as Nicole, Deborah Ann Woll (Ruby Sparks) as Jessica, and Karolina Wydra (JUSTIFIED) as Violet.
