Banshee S3E10 (S3 Finale) - "We All Pay Eventually" Recap

The season 3 finale of "Banshee" kicks off with a flashback. Lucas is in a holding cell of sorts and a man named Dalton is in there, ready to recruit Lucas into an elite military factor that's highly classified. Lucas has been in trouble repeatedly for being insubordinate and acting out.

Job is still being held captive under the watchful eye of Leo, Col. Stowe's hacker. Leo is fangirling and listing off Job's various hacking crimes which are impressive to say the least. One such hack included breaking into the NSA database and erasing the identity of 40 covert operatives, after which he became a permanent fixture on the CIA's radar. Leo theorises that Job was only trying to get rid of one identity but was simply being thorough. Of course the implication here is that it was Lucas' original identity that got erased.

The gang, minus Lucas, is locked up in Camp Genoa. Job and Carrie begin arguing but Sugar yells at them to stop, saying they need to stick together. They all believe Hood will come for them, though Job doubts his ability to make it past all the fire power. Hood indeed comes and he meets with Stowe, telling him he has the money but won't return it until he gets proof his friends are alive. Stowe agrees since Lucas has an insurance policy.

In the flashback sequence, Dalton tortures Lucas and deprives him of food and water until he admits to killing his abusive and alcoholic father. After this, Hood agrees to join the unit.

Kurt Bunker is wracked with guilt over his skinhead past. Kurt visits his brother Calvin, who is also a strong fixture in the Aryan community. Calvin is insistent that Kurt resign from law enforcement and rejoin them but Kurt warns him that he's going to take the whole thing down. They leave with the knowledge that they're going to have a showdown, perhaps sooner rather than later. Some skinheads try to attack him outside the diner and Lotus must stop him from choking one of them till his lights go out.

Now that Proctor has made it out from the captivity of the Black Beards, he needs to clean up Rebecca's mess as well as save his own skin. Proctor decides now that he will align himself with Hector Morales and the Salvadorans, whom Rebecca had teamed up with after he had originally said no. He also gives him a custom-made sword as a gesture of good will, along with the promise that they will get business with them from now on, and a free shipment of MDMA. Together, they raid a Black Beards warehouse and kill all the members there. Proctor even lets Morales deliver the killing shot to Frazier.

Lucas returns to Camp Genoa and upon driving up to the gate, Gordon jumps up from underneath a blanket and begins firing off shots from a massive gun. They head into the base, with Gordon getting up to high ground with his rifle to give Lucas cover. Apparently he was a marksman while in the service so he promptly begins shooting mercenaries down from his rooftop position while Lucas fires various shots and even sets off a grenade. Carries, Sugar, and Job are able to break free from their zip tie restraints but when a guard comes in, a shoot-out ensues. Sugar lands one hell of a punch that knocks the guard out. Job ends up in a fight with Stowe's right-hand man and Carrie finds herself in a brutal fight with Stowe himself.

While Job is able to use his belt to manoeuvre a victory for himself, Gordon finds himself badly wounded with a gunshot to his abdomen. Stowe has managed to get the upper hand on Carrie so he holds a gun to her head and brings her outside, telling Lucas and the other to lower their weapons. Lucas has flashes of Siobhan's death and knows he can't lose Carrie too, so he prepares to take a shot at Stowe. But Gordon takes the show first, blowing the fingers off of Stowe's hand. Carrie is then able to take her knife and tear Stowe's torso in half and kill him. Gordon then falls down and dies in Carrie's arms, but not before saying that he always loved her. Meanwhile, Leo sneaks up from behind and shoots Job in the shoulder. He then picks Job up, throws him over his own shoulder, and brings him into a chopper that leaves the base. Hood tries to run after them and stop it but he isn't able to. Of course now we know what Lucas' main heroic quest will be next season.

An emotional Kurt breaks down at the station, telling Lotus how he is doing everything to change his past, but all he can feel is hate and anger every time he has a confrontation with skinheads. Lotus tells him that it's not hate, but shame and guilt for what he has done, adding that this is what makes him better. Lotus tries to ask Lucas what happened at Camp Geona, adding that the CIA will be coming in an hour. Lucas won't tell him, instead saying that he's turned in his badge and resigned. Lotus tells him that he won't be giving the badge back like last time.

Kurt wakes in his house and finds that his brother Calvin and other Neo-Nazis have broken in. Calvin tells him that if he's going to wear that cop uniform, he can't wear Calvin's uniform. He then proceeds to burn Kurt's Nazi tattoos off with a torch.

Lucas heads to the Forge and is tremendously upset about the fact that he doesn't know where Job is or how to get him back. Sugar tries to ask questions but Lucas just yells at him and leaves the bar. He spots Proctor as he makes his way up to his apartment. They have a conversation in which Proctor notes that Lucas left him to die. But when he calls him "Sheriff," Hood tells him he's not the Sheriff anymore and asks sarcastically if he wants an apology. Proctor says he would've done the same thing and says that being Sheriff never suited Lucas. Lucas agrees and they smile.

Finally, Job wakes up in an unknown holding area realising that he is in enormous trouble.

Banshee will return to Cinemax for season 4!

Banshee S3E9 - "Even God Doesn't Know What to Make of You" Recap

Proctor is getting beaten for supposedly going back on his deal (he didn't, it was Rebecca) and he bites the nose off one of his attackers when they get too close. Proctor learns about Rebecca selling to the Salvadorians. Fraser feels betrayed by Proctor after all the professional history they have together. Fraser says that Proctor must apologise and then die. Proctor responds by saying that he will slit Fraser's throat like a "f*cking cow."

Gordon comes to visit Carrie with the divorce papers he's just received. They're at a crossroads where they must decide whether to reconcile or end things. Gordon is more understanding of the pressure she must've been under when looking over her shoulder all those years. They ponder about whether they can start over.

In a flashback, we see Lucas meet Job for the first time. Lucas was supposed to kill Job but Job talked him out of it by making him see that their boss is planning on killing Lucas after he kills Job. Job also makes him see that he is an asset with all of the knowledge he has about important things. Lucas shoots his way out with Job close behind.

Rebecca comes to ask Lucas for help since the Blackbeards have taken Proctor. Lucas refuses her help but then Rebecca meets Deputy Louts outside who wants Lucas to help because they also took Emily. Lucas agrees to help and then he calls for Job for help but Job won't answer because they're still in an argument. In a continuation of the flashback, we see Job offer Lucas a place to hide.

The tech team helping Col. Stowe is able to track the hack to the military base to lead them to Sugar Bates as well as Job, though there's basically no information about Job since he's scrubbed himself out of the systems. But apparently, he's a wanted man by all the biggest law enforcement organisations and he's a legend in the hacking community.

Job helps Lucas track down the location of Proctor and Emily but they're still on the outs. They come in guns blazing and Fraser is willing to talk when he learns that Lucas is law enforcement. Lucas is ready to let them keep Fraser as long as they let Emily go. She doesn't want to leave Proctor but shouts at her to leave. Louts gets her out and Lucas leaves. When they come out, Rebecca and Burton have shown up since they followed them there. Rebecca is angry at them for not helping Proctor but Burton is more concerned with just getting in there.

Fraser leaves his men to dispose of Proctor but Proctor manages to get out of his chair and steal one of the weapons while Burton and Rebecca are using an ax to break through the door. When they get inside, Proctor is the only one standing while the other men are lying wounded on the floor. He gives a speech about who he thought God was calling him back after his mother died but now he thinks it was just grief. He prepares to burn the men that were about to set him aflame, still monologuing, and apologises to his mother before setting her handkerchief on fire and using it to light the men up.

Deva is getting high in the woods before Billy Raven shows up and arrests her. Deputy Bunker goes to beat up some old skinhead associates so he can vent the frustrations he feels from being shunned be people who rightfully don't want to associate with skinheads.

Col. Stowe comes to Bates' bar who tells him about the robbery. He all but outright says that he knows Bates was involved in the robbery so Bates pulls out his weapon but then Col. Stowe's backup shows up and shoots up the bar. Meanwhile, the hacker Leo shows up at Job's place and sedates him to take him captive, fangirling all the while over meeting the legendary Job. Carrie is heading to her car and realises someone is watching her so she pulls her weapon out but then she sees all the sniper laser points on her so she lowers her weapon.

Emily is angry at Brock for not saving Proctor too and refuses to listen to his insisting that she is hooking up with a very dangerous criminal. The fight escalates so he shoots out the tires on her car.

Gordon is called in to pick up Deva and he informs Deputy Bunker that Deva is going to spend the night in jail. It's time for Deva to know that she can't expect that she can keep misbehaving and he'll bail her out. She's emotional but it's really quite ridiculous. It's not like she has a bunch of dangerous criminals in the cell with her.

Proctor returns home and ends things with Emily, saying that she will be compensated for all her trouble. She says she's not afraid of those men and he sternly tells her it's not those men that she should be afraid of. Rebecca smirks in the front seat while Burton sits in the driver's seat.

Lucas returns to the station to find Deva at the station and refuses to have her stay cooped up regardless of what Gordon said.

Job wakes up tied to a chair with Leo still fangirling over him and Carrie is tied up and being beaten and interrogated by Col. Stowe. When he asks about whether their relationship was all part of the scheme and she claims that it was. He wants to know the fourth person in their gang but she won't give up Lucas' name. Stowe has his second-in-command continue his beating of Carrie. Lucas arrives at Sugar Bates' bar and finds bullets on the floor and the place shot up. Bates is nowhere to be seen and Gordon shows up to tell Lucas to back off of Deva but Lucas instead shows him the bullets and asks where Carrie is, to which Gordon responds by asking him what he has done now. Finally, we see Sugar bloody and tied up and in Stowe's captivity.

Banshee airs on Fridays on Cinemax at 10PM.

Banshee S3E5 - "Tribal" Recap

The assault on the precinct is underway and Proctor is demanding to be released from his cell. His mother is still dying but Lucas and the other deputies must fend off the attack without the help of the state police since the phones are down. Billy believes the Red Bones want him since he was the one who killed Tommy. Lucas hires Bunker since he was at the station when the attack was underway and is ready to help them all out. Billy and Siobhan get the citizens in the station down to the basement but Proctor must remain locked up, despite the protests of his lawyer.

Chayton calls out to Lucas, demanding that Billy and Proctor be sent out and in exchange, everyone else will be spared. Lucas says he'll think about it, in order to buy time, and Chayton says he has just two minutes. Lucas then tells Chayton he won't send them out and Lucas then says if they leave, they will be allowed to live, warning him that if they come inside, more Red Bones will die. Billy is prepared to hand himself over, saying that it's tribal justice, but Lucas says if they're going down they will do so together.

The lights then go out in the station. Proctor claims he'd rather go out and face the Red Bones head on instead of waiting in the dark to die. Deputy Lotus says there's a backup generator in the basement so Lucas and Siobhan head down to get to it. Upon reaching it, they find it's almost out of gas  but they're eventually able to get the lights back on. The Red Bones unleash a barrage of bullets on the precinct and in the commotion, Proctor's lawyer scrambles to steal the keys and let Proctor out. He gets the keys in the lock but ends up shot in the head before he can do anything else. Proctor lets himself out and shoots a Red Bone in the head because he was choking out Assistant District Attorney Alison Medding.

Billy covers Lucas, who makes his way to a hole in the station that the Red Bones had shot up. Lucas gets some shots out and shoots two Red Bones, forcing them to retreat for now. Lucas and Billy push a cabinet in front of the hole, though Siobhan warns that this will not hold them off for long. The Red Bones use a truck to pull a gate open, allowing some Red Bones to get in but Lucas and Proctor shoot them dead, and the gate closes once again.

Things are tense between Alison and Kurt, who is also currently injured from a bleeding wound he got during the fight, as her father was beaten into a coma by some skinheads so she doesn't trust his appearance. Kurt shares how his father was abusive so he stayed away from home and had a stutter. Some local skinheads were the only ones that showed him kindness, even beating his father one time after he gave Kurt a black eye. One thing led to another and then Kurt was a full-blown skinhead. Alison tells him it's no excuse and Kurt says he knows that.

Deputy Lotus refuses to fight alongside Proctor and Lucas tells him to hand over his badge if he doesn't want to do his job. Lotus tells Lucas that he tried to do things his way but everything Lucas touches turns to blood.

Some Red Bones get in through the basement and Kurt fights them off. He's nearly killed after getting shot again but Alison saves him with a gun of her own. The team reconvenes in the basement and Proctor says he'll go out through the basement. Lotus doesn't want to let him walk out but Lucas says to let him go. Before walking out, Proctor says that if he doesn't make it, Lucas needs to stay away from Rebecca. If he does make it, they'll have unfinished business. Lucas agrees, and reminds Proctor to make the call (for less-than-legal reinforcements).

Proctor's mother warns Rebecca that it's not to late and that she should leave this house and find her own way. Rebecca appears shaken by the advice, though it's not entirely clear if Proctor's mother really said this, or if Rebecca simply imagined it.

Lucas and Siobhan seemingly reconcile, and consider having a future together. Siobhan wants the truth though, and asks for Lucas to start by telling her his real name, which he seemingly does by whispering it in her ear.

Billy grows pensive and then goes to uncover the hole so he can walk out and sacrifice himself. Siobhan implores him not to but Billy says it is the only way. Billy calls out to Chayton, prepared to sacrifice himself in exchange for everyone else's safety but Chayton says the time for negotiation has passed, and shoots an arrow into Billy. Siobhan tackles Billy and saves him from being shot again but this time fatally. She helps him up but it's not long before he can't move his legs, having gone into shock. The rest of the group are elsewhere in the station fending off the attack from the Red Bones who have made their way inside. Siobhan hides Billy and heads off to help the fight. Siobhan gets into a fight with a Red Bone and despite being injured by the encounter, is able to beat and kill him. It's then that we see Chayton walking towards her from behind.

Lucas leaves the Deputies who have successfully fought off the Red bones in the latest sweep. He comes upon Chayton who has Siobhan in a chokehold. Lucas emotionally pleads for him to let Siobhan go, lowering his weapon. A Red Bone comes up from behind and knocks Lucas in the head. As Lucas lies disoriented on the ground, he watches helplessly as Chayton snaps Siobhan's neck.

Proctor returns home to find that his mother has passed away. Proctor says a prayer as he cradles his mother's body. Rebecca walks in and watches, while back at the station, Lucas cradles Siobhan and cries for her death.
