Preacher S03E10 "The Light Above" Recap

Flashback to Jesse's childhood and he attempts and fails to kill his grandmother. All the while, both God and Satan are watching his actions.

In the present time period, T.C. and Jody are trying to stop Jesse who uses his restored Genesis powers to force T.C. to wound himself. Jesse also beats Jody in a bout of mortal combat in the Tombs, after which he burns the place down. T.C. willingly stays behind to die in the flames. Jesse then uses his powers to force his grandmother to release himself and Tulip from the spells she had entrapped them with, as well as destroy the suitcase she had kept to store the souls of her victims. Grandma L'Angelle warns Jesse that he will go to hell if he murders her but he goes ahead with it anyway.

Tulip, Sydney, and the Saint of Killers fight alongside one another to battle the neo-Nazis that are attempting to rescue Hitler, who ends up knocked out by Eugene while trying to run away. God stops a bullet that would've hit Tulip and then offers her a blessing to bestow upon her family if she will persuade Jesse to cease his search for God. Tulip rejects the offer and makes her escape. The Saint delivers the rest of the captives to Satan and gets his guns returned per the arrangement made beforehand. He also learns that God was the one who let the Saint's family die. The Saint then kills Satan in retribution, after which Hitler takes his seat. The Saint then leaves Hell with Eugene.

Cassidy finally manages to convince the Children of Blood that Eccarius has been killing his former victims. As all the Children of Blood have been secretly turned into vampires, they retaliate by eating Eccarius. Hoover then arrives and hides while shielding Cassidy under an umbrella. It's then that the Grail rips the roof of the building which exposes all the Children of Blood to sunlight and consequently death. Cassidy is captures and brought to Masada, the Grail headquarters, where Starr kills Hoover. He intends to torture Cassidy and kill Jesse, who has reunited with Tulip and learned of Cassidy's capture by the Grail.

Preacher S03E09 "Schwanzkopf" Recap

Jesse attacks the Allfather once more and shoots him more times but is unable to take him down. But then he injects him with the 'Tom Brady' concoction and sends Genesis into him which causes him to explode before Genesis returns back to Jesse's body.

Sydney is about to enter the bus to Hell with her captives when Tulip arrives and demands the return of her suitcase full of souls. However, when Eugene recognises her, Sydney orders Tulip onto the bus. Featherstone is then freed to leave with Jody and the suitcase.

Jesse fights with Starr and is finally able to get his soul fragment back, thus restoring his Genesis power to its former glory. Starr reveals that the Allfather has already triggered a plan to destroy the world and leave Humperdoo in charge. Jesse wants to kill Humperdoo but ultimately is unable to shoot him. Instead he opts to release all the remaining Humperdoo clones, which makes it impossible to identify the real one. He then sets off for Angelville. When Starr learns that Hoover has been turned into a vampire, he is furious at Jesse.

Cassidy refuses to comply with Eccarius' scheme to turn and kill the new vampire followers. Cassidy tries to convince the others to leave with him but Eccarius has already lied to them with claims that Cassidy killed Hoover. All the vampires turn against Cassidy and capture him, with plans to kill him by exposing him to the sun.

On the way to Hell, Tulip convinces the other passengers to try to escape with her but her plan to get out of the bus fails. But some time later, the bus is ambushed by Nazis due to Hitler's prior phone call on Featherstone's mobile.

T.C. informs Marie L'Angelle that Jesse hasn't returned yet. She replies that Jesse will be coming back to kill her.

Preacher S03E08 "The Tom/Brady" Recap

Jesse takes Herr Starr's gun and shoots at the Allfather, who is keeping Jesse's soul fragment inside his rectum. However, he only manages to wound the Allfather. Starr is reluctant to be the one to kill his superior, which is why he wants Jesses to do it. Jesse is swarmed by some of the Allfather's bodyguards and is strapped to a gurney. The Allfather doesn't want him killed, since he still believes that Jesse is Jesus. Grail scientists are able to extract Genesis from Jesse's body and despite failing multiple times, they eventually transfer it to a Humperdoo clone who is able to use the power. The clone is then executed and the real Humperdoo is brought into the room.

Back at the farm, Marie L'Angelle begins a negotiation with Satan, who intends to claim her soul after she dies. She offers to deliver Tulip to him instead, as well as share the whereabouts of the Genesis power.

Tulip, Lara Featherstone, and Jody are en route to rob the vault of the soul dealign company in Osaka. Though they are successful in their plot, they are confronted when they return to New Orleans by Sydney. Satan had sent Sydney, who is the Angel of Death, in order to get Tulip. However, Tulip is able to trick Sydney into taking Featherstone instead of herself. At a bus stop to Hell, they encounter the Saint of Killers who still has Eugene and Hitler captive. Hitler manages to persuade Featherstone into letting him borrow her cell phone which he uses to send a message to a friend back at the diner.

All the while, Cassidy is still galavanting around with his vampire partner. They've taken one of Starr's subordinates captive but Starr doesn't care about getting him back. He texts Cassidy to go ahead and kill him. They decide to turn him into a vampire instead. He's about to be killed like all the others but Cassidy has already realised what's been going on and intervenes before he can be killed too. The vampire knocks Cassidy out and Hoover manages to escape during the struggle.

Preacher S03E07 "Hitler" Recap

Hitler has taken up a new life in the real world of making sandwiches at a diner using the alias "Davi Hitler" and does well enough in this life to earn employee of the month. It doesn't take long for him to being spouting antisemitic rhetoric and forming a new 'four-year-plan' to take over the world again. But his scheming is interrupted by the arrival of the Saint of Killers who has Eugene captive. The Saint also puts Hitler in chains, and takes off with the two hostages the devil assigned him to acquire.

Jesse and Tulip hold a ceremony to ritualistically burn Madame Boyd's body as part of her funeral but the mourning is interrupted by the arrival of the Grail. Herr Starr heads the negotiations to get Jesse released from Angelville and in exchange, Grandma wants more souls to feed on. Starr agrees to get her more souls by acquiring them from the Japanese soul dealing company based in Osaka. As the Grail owns this company, Starr can ensure that the souls will be given to Grandma but only if Jesse is released immediately. Grandma agrees but threatens to kills Jesse if Starr doesn't hold up his end of the deal and get her those souls. Since Jesse doesn't want to risk his well-being, he tells Tulip to go with Lara Featherstone undercover to Osaka to retrieve the souls. Before Tulip leaves, she asks Jesse to check in on Cassidy and make sure he's doing okay. Jesse's larger plan is to kill his grandmother as soon as he gets his powers back.

Cassidy has continued to befriend Eccarius and participates in his ongoing scheme as the leader of the Children of Blood. In a ritual, Cassidy bites a willing disciple so she will be transformed into a vampire. Furthermore, Cassidy gets to experience of the joys of Eccarius flying him over the city with his powers and summoning beautiful women with a simple but powerful stare. The pair are later attacked by some priest assassins hired by the Grail to kill Eccarius and arrest Cassidy. But Cassidy is able to beat them, not knowing that Eccarius has been murdering each of his disciples after they are turned into vampires. Starr orders others to continue hunting for Cassidy.

Back in Angelville, T.C. enquires about Genesis to Grandma, tipping her off to the existence of these abilities.

Starr and Jesse head to New Orleans and on the way, Starr asks Jesse to promise not to use Genesis on him after his powers are restored and Jesse agrees. Starr then demands that Jesse kill "him" and in exchange his soul fragment will be returned to him. Starr also takes Jesse to meet the Allfather, just as he was instructed to do.

Preacher S03E06 "Les Enfants du Sang" Recap

Following Eugene's return to earth after his extended stay in hell, he learns of Annville's destruction both in regards to the city itself as well as the residents of it. Being that he is still underage, he is sent to an orphanage but is quickly found by the Saint of Killers. The Saint takes him away, intending to send him back to hell after they make one more stop.

As Cassidy gets to know the cult that has snatched him up, the Children of Blood, he meets the leader of the group. Eccarius is a real vampire and proves as much when he swallows a large animal whole. He has more supernatural powers than Cassidy, who is left in a precarious position of not knowing how best to make his escape.

Jesse scrambles to try to find a way to save Tulip's life, as it is connected to his ailing grandmother. One of Madame Boyd's associates spies on them as they pretend to bury Tulip's body, and reports back to her that grandma and Tulip are dead (not knowing they're still alive). Jesse and Tulip work together to rob a bank that holds Madame Boyd's storage in a security deposit box. Inside is a supply of souls.

Eccarius is shown to be feeding on the blood of his human disciples and reveals to Cassidy that he wants him to join him as a companion. Cassidy is disgusted by Eccarius' ways and leaves the cult's compound. He and Tulip talk on the phone and she encourages him to stay strong until she and Jesse can escape and they can all be reunited to go on adventures together again. But Cassidy turns her down, likely not wanting to put himself through the pain of being around a woman he loves that doesn't reciprocate his feelings, and tells her he has no intention of reuniting with them. After this, he decides to return to Eccarius and his cult so he won't have to be alone.

All of the souls from Madame Boy's box are fed to Grandma but it isn't quite enough. Jody opts to kidnap Madame Boyd herself and Grandma consumes her soul too. After this Jesse shoots her in the head to prevent her from having to live life without a soul, particularly since she would've been sent to fight in the Tombs. Jesse assures his grandmother he will pay off his debt to her and decides to call the Grail.

Herr Starr is getting set up in his New Orleans office when he receives a surprise visit from the Allfather, who shares plans that are to destroy the world via a nuclear apocalypse. This is all intended to be a preparation for the second coming of the Messiah. Finally, he expresses a desire to discuss Jesse Custer.

Preacher S03E05 "The Coffin" Recap

Tulip can't bring herself to shoot Jesse's grandmother dead in her sleep and decides to ask Jesse outright whether killing her is an option to get him free. But they can't discuss the matter at hand because T.C. and Jody discover that Cassidy is gone. They confront Jesse and Tulip and a full-on brawl breaks out between the foursome. Eventually Jesse and Tulip are overtaken, with Jesse being locked in a coffin which is then submerged in a pond.

Herr starr is overseeing the preparations for Humperdoo to be revealed to the public as Messiah. It's going about as well as expected. Though Herr Starr feels there is a long way to go, his box, the Allfather, orders Starr to hurry up and finish the preparations because the people need their Messiah. The only semi-impressive skill that the Humperdoo has developed is the ability to tap-dance. But Lara Featherstone approaches Starr to offer a suggestion on how to force Jesse into rejoining the Grail by using Cassidy.

Cassidy has made it to New Orleans where he attempts to set up a new life and meet other vampires. He meets a girl whom he believes is another vampire but just as the two are about to have sex she reveals herself to just be a human into vampire roleplaying with no idea that vampires actually exist. Jesse on the other hand, is struggling mentally to deal with being trapped in the coffin. His repeated banging on the coffin eventually causes a slow leak. Jesse also begins to hallucinate, delirious from the extensive stay in the coffin.

Tulip and Jesse both work to escape their captive states. While Jesse uses cigarettes to explode himself out of his coffin, Tulip has broken free from Jody's captivity. Grandma L'Angelle had intended to eat Tulip's soul in order to revive herself but Tulip attacks her first. Tulip demands that she free Jesse from the spell and strangles her to death when he refuses. However, Tulip falls dead afterwards because her life was linked to Grandma L'Angelle.

The Grail use a drunk Cassidy for a staged video which they intend to use to trick Jesse into believing Cassidy is begging to be rescued from their captivity. But their filming session is interrupted by an unknown attacker breaking into the home where they are working.

Jesse arrives just in time to resuscitate L'Angelle which in turn revives Tulip as well. Jesse tells Tulip how Madame Boyd had tricked her into killing L'Angelle because it would kill her too. But once T.C. shares that L'Angelle needs to consume a soul in order to properly recuperate, another fight breaks out.

Cassidy wakes and finds himself in the presence of the Children of Blood.

Preacher S03E04 "The Tombs" Recap

The Saint of Killers is back in Hell. He is brought to Satan's office where the devil has one of his assistants whip the Saint as punishment for breaking out in the first place.

Tulip takes Madame Boyd hostage, intent on forcing her to reveal how to break Grandma L'Angelle's spell to free Jesse from it.

In a series of flashback, a teenage Jesse is shown to be working with T.C. in the Tombs where fights are being held. T.C. warns Jesse that he needs to keep his romances secret from his grandmother. Jesse is seeing Madame Boyd and the two are in love, but he cruelly lashes out and dumps her in an effort to protect her. Later on her brother comes to the Tombs to confront Jesse about hurting her brother, and Jesse accidentally kills him. Madame Boys still holds a grudge against him for breaking her heart twice.

In the present day, Cassidy wins the fight he is put in. But before he can be made to fight again, Jesse dismembers him and tries to ship him away in a parcel so he won't be trapped in a life of perpetual fighting. But after Jesse leaves, Cassidy escapes from his box before it can be shipped off.

Tulip learns about Madame Boyd's history with Jesse while driving her around.

Jesse addresses the crowd in the Tombs and claims that since Cassidy has 'escaped', God is missing so the Tombs will be closed again. But Cassidy emerges prepared to fight, and insists on his next fight being with Jesse. Tulip arrives right as Jesse stabs Cassidy to make him stop fighting. After the fight breaks up and the crowd leaves the Tombs, Jesse and Tulip reconcile. Tulip also meets up with Cassidy and puts him on a bus to New Orleans, telling him that she does not love him.

The following morning Tulip learns from Madame Boys, who she's kept in the trunk of her car, that she must kill Grandma L'Angelle to break the compact.

In Hell, Satan releases the Saint from his punishment and gives him an assignment to bring in two people alive that are threatening his expansion plans and his reward will be to kill any and all preachers he wants.

Preacher S03E03 "Gonna Hurt" Recap

Tulip drives to the New Orleans office of the Grail, using the address left on the card she had from her previous encounter with its agents. However, when she arrives there is no one there anymore and it has seemingly been abandoned. On the drive back, she encounters God on the road who tells her that he intended for her to fail as part of his larger plan and that he is on Earth to prepare a test of some kind. She doesn't believe God and promises to "kick his ass" despite him getting away.

As T.C. is growing increasingly suspicious of Cassidy's ability to heal, Jesse tries to make up with Cassidy in order to warn him about the dangers in Angelville but Cassidy won't listen to him. But Jesse doesn't have time to sit around and work on repairing his relationship with Cassidy for the time being since he needs to go out and find new customers for his grandmother, whom he is still indebted to for resurrecting Tulip.

T.C. proceeds to tell Tulip about the logistics of blood-debt compacts, while Cassidy uses his time to approach Marie L'Angelle in search of a love spell that he likely wants to use on Tulip. Tulip decides to approach Madame Boyd to try to find a way to help Jesse break free from the compact he owes to his grandmother.

While Cassidy is out feeding on animals, he is caught by Jody and T.C. who proceed to hang him upside down from a tree in order for him to be killed when the sun rises. Jesse arrives in time to save Cassidy and is able to do so by agreeing to re-open the Tombs and have a fight scheduled between Cassidy and the customer still locked down there in which Jesse himself will serve as the master of ceremonies.

Preacher S03E02 "Sonsabitches" Recap

The episode opens with an extended flashback of Jesse as a teenager working alongside T.C. to go after a customer that failed to follow through on their payments for a spell. The man worked as a science teacher at school and had been involved sexually with one of the students who became obsessed with him after an affair. Jesse and T.C. bring the man to L'Angelle who takes the man's soul away.

In the present, Tulip berates Cassidy and Jesse for their bickering. She shares how the female Grail agent was the one to kill her and she intends to get revenge on her. Cassidy wants to help Tulip get revenge right away but Jesse pushes them to focus on escaping from L'Angelle first. This only escalates the already present tension among the group.

Jesse calls Herr Starr and leaves a voicemail to arrange a meeting to get the missing part of his soul back. Jesse is hoping that the return of the piece of his soul will restore his powers. Starr is in India at the Krishna Headquarters where he kills everyone present for refusing to support Humperdoo.

The agents attack Jesse's home, and Tulip gets a few good punches in on the woman who killed her. Jesse proceeds to use them to stage an attack of the Boyd clan on Angelville while he meets with Herr Starr. The exchange fails because Tulip is overcome with the memory of God telling her to "get those sonsabitches" which leads her to attack the Grail agents.

Starr and his agents are able to escape without Jesse getting his soul restored. L'Angelle also worsens Jesse's condition by punishing him with voodoo for trying to double-cross her. He still swears to her that he will find a way to escape. She then orders him to go into a cellar called "The Tombs" where he discovers the customer from the episode's opening chained up to the wall.

Preacher S03E01 "Angelville" Recap

The episode opens with an extended flashback showing Jesse's mother trying to escape from her mother, Madame L'Angelle, who is a working Voodoo witch in New Orleans. However, Madame L'Angelle send her henchmen T.C. and Jody after her to bring her back. Jesse's mother swallows a photography of baby Jesse and warns her mother to leave Jesse alone but instead, L'Angelle cuts open her daughter's stomach to retrieve the photograph and leaves her to die.

Returning to the present, Jesse and Cassidy arrive at Angelville with Tulip's body in the car, in search of Jesse's grandmother. After Jesse and Cassidy fight some more, Jesse's grandmother emerges. Jesse begs her to bring Tulip back from the death, promising to do anything she wants in return. She agrees and sends Jesse and Cassidy out to procure various items required to perform the resurrection ritual.

Tulip's spirit is shown to be in Purgatory where she is being forced to rewatch scenes from her traumatic childhood.

Jesse visits the rival Boyd clan which has Jody, the man who killed his father, in order to get some transpoil for the ritual. While L'Angelle is alone with Cassidy and Tulip's body, she offers him a favour if he will get Jesse to return home for good. But Jesse is a bit preoccupied with fighting Jody who demands the confrontation in order to give Jesse the transpoil. Just when it appears as if the fight will end badly for Jesse, L'Angelle emerges from the house and forces him to give up the transpoil.

Tulip continues to suffer in Purgatory, as she is reminded of having to go to the orphanage. But L'Angelle performs the ritual to bring her back and while the group waits for her to wake, Jesse pleads for her to come back to him and professes his love for her. Cassidy turns on Tulip's favourite song which manages to reach her in Purgatory. Tulip is told by her younger self that she needs to go. Tulip gets a phone call and when she picks it up, she hears Jesse's voice pleading for her to come back. As Tulip is preparing to go back, she meets God in the form of Man Dog, who informs her that she is part of His larger plan.

Later on, L'Angelle reminds Jesse of the promise he owes her for bringing Tulip back. Jesse points out that he may cheat the deal and kill her instead, to which L'Angelle challenges him to try and see what happens if he does.

Preacher S02E13 (SEASON FINALE) "The End of the Road" Recap

The season two finale opens with another glimpse at teenage Jesse, who begins his criminal ways in Angelville and worked under the thumb of his grandmother Madame L'Angell. The people that come to the family home are in search of spiritual guidance and Jesse begins subtly pick-pocketing the guests to save up a cash stash of his home but it's muscled off of him from a man named T.C. - who was also the one that killed Jesse's father. In a rage after the encounter, Jesse stomps a chicken dead but he's overcome with guilt and brings it to his grandmother in the hopes that she'll resurrect it. She agrees but warns him that everything has a price.

In the present day plot, Jesse is preparing to take on the role of the Messiah but rejects Starr's speech to do so. Jesse is set to give a speech to a class of kids at a school taught by nuns but his talk is interrupted by some armed Armenians that want to kill the nuns and children. Jesse commands them to stop but it appears that Genesis is glitching. However, Jesse is still able to beat them through old-fashioned fighting skills. He determines that the attack was a sound and orchestrated by Starr in order to give Jesse the opportunity to play hero, as the guns the Armenians had weren't actually loaded. But Starr is unapologetic about the move, as it worked to make Jesse out to be a hero since Starr was filming the entire encounter.

Cassidy is concerned that Denis is a bad influence on him, as he has embraced a more violent, hedonistic approach to vampirism. Tulip is out picking up large quantities of sunscreen and other supplies in preparation for a trip she and Cassidy will be taking to Bimini. Tulip assaults the cashier at the shop and robs the register, and attempts to give the money to a single mother she saw shoplifting in the aisles but the woman leaves without taking any of the cash.

When Tulip returns to the apartment, she finds a stressed Cassidy smoking crack to try to alleviate his rattled feelings about Denis' behaviour. She tells him that whatever happens next, they should just let happen. The two begin to hookup but then Cassidy begins to violently feed on Tulip, taking a large bite out of her neck and seemingly killing her. But that encounter between them was all just a dream, as Tulip once again returns to the apartment and asks Cassidy if he's smoking crack before heading to her room to pack her belongings.

Hitler helps Eugene make it to the ferryman that will lead him out of Hell. Hitler won't go though, as he belongs in Hell. Eugene should be able to get the ferryman to take him out of Hell because he was never supposed to be there to begin with. The ferryman is an intimidating figure whose face we never see, as he's entirely covered in a black cloak. But once he begins to speak, he becomes more relatable. The ferryman summons the boat but just as Eugene prepares to board it, the superintendent arrives and demands his return because she doesn't want to let anyone leave. The ferryman says that it's his jurisdiction to decide and Eugene doesn't belong there. She shoots the ferryman and calls for backup. Hitler shows up and knocks the superintendent out, before sending Eugene on his way. But just as Eugene begins to float away in the boat, he insists that Hitler come with him.

Jesse is riding with Starr on the way to make an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show after the video of Jesse's heroism goes viral. Starr wants to know why Jesse didn't use Genesis against the armed gunmen and Jesse lies, claiming he didn't need to. Starr warns him that he will.

Tulip discovers one of the surveillance bugs in the apartment and reveals it to Cassidy. They must decide whether or not to tell Jesse about Starr's surveillance and consequent sabotage of their group. Cassidy has a tense moment with Denis when he realises that he can't maintain a relatively moral way of life when Denis is bringing his corrupting influence. So he shoves Denis outside into the sunny day and barricades the window till Denis has gone entirely up in flames.

Jesse and Hitler return to Earth. Hitler takes off running away from Jesse and gets hit by a car. He gets up and continues to run, albeit with an injured leg, and even knocks down a man on crutches while making his getaway. Confusingly, Eugene doesn't make even a remote attempt at chasing after Hitler.

Cassidy prepares to leave with Tulip but doesn't tell her about killing Denis. He also decides to set his dog Banjo free, whom he had previously rescued from a leering Denis that appeared to be considering eating him. Cassidy appears to not want the temptation around of turning Banjo into food while they're travelling together. Tulip decides to go back inside the apartment to say goodbye to her neighbor 'Jenny' but realises she's one of Starr's agents after discovering a strange manual. Tulip grabs a screwdriver and holds it behind her back while Jenny/Lara has a gun behind her own. Hoover also exposes the situation further when he comes out of the bathroom and isn't showing himself to be the abusive ex Lara had him pretend to be. So Lara whips the gun out and shoots Tulip.

Jesse and Starr are leaving behind a large group of eager reporters. They're about to leave on a private jet but then Jesse gets a message from Cassidy that Tulip has been shot. Starr is fine with Jesse leaving but tells him he needs to come back when he's finished this business in order to retrieve his soul, that Starr has in a small vial after it was retrieved from the Saint. Cassidy called for an ambulance but Starr had used his influence to order it to be stopped. Seems he wants Tulip out of the way to stop distracting Jesse from being the Messiah. Tulip is on the brink of death and Cassidy tells Jesse to use Genesis. But the glitch is still in effect so it doesn't work. Cassidy tries to bite Tulip to save her by turning her into a vampire but Jesse attacks Cassidy and orders him not to. But their fight is interrupted by the sound of Tulip making her last breaths. Still, Jesse restrains Cassidy and tells him to let Tulip die rather than become a vampire.

However, there is a journey to be taken to resurrect Tulip. Jesse and Cassidy ride together with Tulip's body in the backseat. Cassidy is furious, telling Jesse he hates him. But Jesse tells him if he hates him now, just wait. Things are about to get a whole lot worse, apparently. They reach the gates of Angelville, where the chicken from the episode's beginning is still alive and running around. Seems they'll be reaching out to Grandmother L'Angell for help on something far bigger than a chicken.

Finally, in a dingy motel room we see the dog costume hung up while dissonant jazz plays on a record player. There are also beverage cans scattered all over the room. The bathroom door opens and a figure completely obscured by light is barely shown - it's the missing God.

Preacher S02E12 "On Your Knees" Recap

Eugene is being coached by Hitler in the loop of his worst moment so they can find the backdoor to escape Hell. Finally, Eugene stands up to Tracy to tell her that she is a mean person and declares that her suicide is not his fault. Eventually, the school mascot emerges and Eugene kills him because he had molested Eugene in his youth. Then a version of Eugene's father, Sheriff Root, emerges with Eugene's facial disfigurement and once again blames Eugene for his mother's death. He tells Eugene to kill himself but Eugene refuses, saying he was just a scared kid and he does not need to apologise for his father's pain. The key to being able to escape from Hell is for Eugene to show that he does not belong in Hell and this act of love is what finally allows Hitler and Eugene to escape through a window in the vision, which is a shaft of sorts out of Hell.

In a flashback, the Saint of Killers is shown to be tormented with memories of his lost wife and child while trapped in the armored truck. Then the Grail track down his location and remove the van from the swamp while dropping in a decoy version of it in case Jesse returns to it. They then open up the truck to let the Saint out and remove the bit of a new soul that Jesse had put him in. This means that his powers are restored.

Tulip and Cassidy are still harboring feelings of resentment and betrayal towards Jesse. They contemplate the power dynamics of their group and Cassidy is disgruntled at the claim that he is third in their hierarchy. But once Jesse returns, the group seems to be taking a step towards mending things, as Jesse declares he no longer wants to think about God. When Tulip heads out into the hallway, she is confronted by the Saint who knocks her out when she tries to attack him. The Saint heads into the apartment and is intent on attacking Jesse but also fights Cassidy and Tulip when the two attack him to defend a drunkenly passed out Jesse. When Jesse wakes, he is overpowered by the Saint who intends to scalp Jesse. But before he can do so, the superintendent from Hell appears with some guards from Hell that say he must return to his place in Hell or else his wife and child will be the ones to fill it. The Saint leaves willingly and the superintendent tells Jesse he is fortunate to have Herr Starr on his side.

Tulip and Cassidy are checked out by some EMTs and head to the hospital to be patched up. Afterwards, they visit Herr Starr who advises them that they should let Jesse go and are holding him back from fulfilling his potential. The entire universe is at stake, according to Starr. Starr tells them of all the plans and how Jesse needs to take God's place. He also claims that Jesse doesn't truly care for him. They return to Jesse and express their disdain at the prospect of his taking on this role, despite their love for him. But Jesse had seen a TV address by the Pope that claimed that God's disappearance means that the Messiah is coming. He is weary of the idea of Humperdoo being elevated to Messiah status.

Down in Hell, Hitler and Eugene are still crawling through a vent, in an effort to escape from Hell. Jesse decides to take over God's job and pays a visit to Herr Starr, who kneels before him.

Preacher airs on Mondays on AMC at 9/8c.

Preacher S02E11 "Backdoors" Recap

The episode opens on grim flashbacks of Jesse being submerged in a pond while locked in a coffin. He's just a teenager and his grandmother L'Angelle is ordering this shocking treatment in order to break his will.

In the present day plot, there are divers that have worked to draw the armored truck from the swamp under the orders of Jesse and Tulip. Tulip is furious that Jesse didn't kill him and also lied about it. There's still tensions between the two from all the baggage in their relationships. Jesse assures Tulip that the Saint can't get out but when he opens the truck, he finds that the Saint has disappeared. This only further escalates the animosity between the two.

Lara Featherstone reports back to Herr Starr about what has just transpired between Jesse and Tulip. Herr Starr reveals to his agents about his plan to replace the mentally handicapped Messiah with Jesse. He believes this will bring real order and control to the world.

Jesse gets into an argument with Tulip and Cassidy but the conversation is interrupted when he begins to intuitively realise that the man in the dog costume that he briefly encountered at the beginning of his search for God in New Orleans is possibly God himself. Tulip and Cassidy won't go with him, so Jesse must follow this lead on his own.

Eugene decides to try to team up with Hitler and Tyler to try to escape Hell. Eugene and Tyler go with Hitler to relive his worst memory, which is of his last day as a good person. He had tried to pitch his art to an art dealer but his work was insulted. He then had an opportunity to stand up for himself when some men came in and attacked the restaurant he was in but he maintained his demure approach. Things escalate further when the woman he is with leaves him for his lack of drive and aggression, and the last piece of plum cake he had ordered went to a Jewish man that arrived after Hitler had already ordered.

Tulip wants to have all of the Saint's weapons melted down but they are indestructible by any regular mortal methods so she opts to send mail them to Brazil instead. Out of sight, out of mind.

Jesse is unable to find the man in the dog suit and visit Herr Starr to demand answers. Starr didn't know about God, and Jesse now blames himself for not having realised right then that it was God. When Starr plays a recording of Jesse's prayers as a teenager, he is heard to be begging for his father's death and being sent to Hell. Once again Starr offers Jesse the opportunity to take over the vacancy God has left but Jesse declines it again, even going so far as to command Starr to shove the tapes of his prayers up his bum. This leads to the reveal that the Grail had been behind swapping out the truck in the swamp and the Saint of Killers is released under Starr's order.

Back in Hell, Eugene reaffirms his commitment to escaping, teaming up with Hitler in the process, and the pair enter the "Hole" in pursuit of a backdoor out.

In a flashback, we see Jesus have a vigorous affair with a married woman and swears her to secrecy about what they have done. Back in the present, Herr Starr is forced to answer Jesse's questions about God and the Grail under the influence of Genesis. Starr reveals that the Grail was the one that hired and consequently killed the God imposter following God's disappearance.

The female Grail agent is able to infiltrated Denis' apartment by continuing her fabricated cover of being an abused woman. Tulip begins to open up and confide in her about everything that's been going on with Jesse. Cassidy is spending time bonding with the newly vampire-d Denis, who is being impulsive and hedonistic with his new strength and powers.

Meanwhile, Jesse goes back to the Grail headquarters in the hopes of learning more about where God has gotten to but the Grail doesn't appear to have any knowledge of his whereabouts, even when he meets the Pope. Those present from the Vatican reveal that a group of rebellious angels turned against God and forced him to go on the run but there's no further information. They mention something about a boy that needs to rise up and be the new leader but Herr Starr ushers them out before they can say anything further. Jesse uses Genesis to force Starr to reveal that there is a descendant of Jesus alive that is considered the be the next Messiah. Jesse commands Starr to take him to this heir after learning that the Grail's origins lie in the disciples of Jesus that had surmised what happened with both Jesus having an affair and consequently an offspring, and murdering the mother after the baby was born and taking it into their care.

Cassidy becomes concerned when he takes Denis out with their new women friends and Denis once again displays an inability to control his new vampiric impulses. Meanwhile, Tulip briefly realises that the Grail agent, 'Ginny', knows more than she should when she accidentally reveals knowledge of Tulip's past with the bank robbery gone wrong. So 'Ginny' slips into the bathroom and calls her Grail colleague and tells him to pretends to be the drunken ex that was part of her cover story. The two go out into the hallway when they hear him yelling for her and beat him up. Tulip tends to 'Ginny's head wound she got in the scuffle and for now it appears that Tulip buys the story. The two also note the broken tile in the bathroom and Ginny advises her to fix it as part of her self-care, which will undoubtedly send Tulip on the path of discovering what Jesse hid in the bathroom after sinking the truck containing the Saint - his stash of weapons.

Jesse is forced to put his head under a cloth bag to keep the secret of the Messiah's whereabouts but is still brought to meet him. When he finally meets the so-called Messiah, he's revealed to be a severely mentally handicapped man named Humperdoo. Starr thinks that Jesse should use his Genesis powers to fill God's role while he's missing but Jesses declines this offer as he believes doing so would be blasphemy. The Grail agents are revealed to be under Starr's orders to try to break Jesse and Tulip up and Tulip was deliberately manipulated into finding the Saint of Killer's weapons under the bathroom tile so that when he returns home, they will have a fight about it.

Preacher S02E09 "Puzzle Piece" Recap

Herr Starr's new office is being cleaned out and redecorated to suit his evil aesthetics, while his agents manage to catch Jesse using his Genesis powers on the surveillance system they installed in Denis' apartment. Things are still tense between our main trio, as Tulip continues to struggle with her PTSD and Cassidy resents Jesse. Tulip doesn't want to sleep because of the nightmares she's been having but the lack of rest isn't helping her health, thus prompting Jesse to use Genesis. Some agents later try to go after Jesse in the dead of night on Starr's orders to kill them all, but Jesse fends them off with his Genesis powers and commanding one agent to kill the rest of the men. Jesse wants to interrogate him but he is attacked by Denis, who is now a vampire.

Herr Starr is advised by one the agents to active "Brad" in order to take out Jesse, who has compelled the local law enforcement to not only clean up the mass amount of dead bodies in his apartment but to protect them as well. Jesse and Cassidy make peace over their past disagreements, with Jesse giving his approval of Denis being turned. Jesse also makes amends with Tulip, as Jesse implores her to see that going out and getting shot every night won't help her to move past her pain but she can get through it just as she has in the past with all that they've been through together as outlaws. She visits the new neighbour, still not knowing it's an agent, and borrows a gun from her. The other agent in the apartment doesn't understand why she'd let Tulip borrow a gun, but she merely states that it won't help at all against Brad.

Tulip's recovery won't be so easy though, as she ends up shooting the cleaner when she mistakes one of his bottles of chemicals for a gun. The tension is escalating in the apartment, as Jesse remains certain that something is coming for him. B.R.A.D. is revealed to be a drone that is heading straight for Jesse's apartment. Meanwhile Herr Starr finally begins to read Jesse's file and starts to gain an interest in what he learns about him. This prompts him to order his agents to call off the B.R.A.D. missile and with just moments to spare, it is redirected to land elsewhere at Harry Connick Jr's house. Herr Starr then visits Jesse in a bar, revealing himself and offering to help him in his search for God.

Preacher S02E08 "Holes" Recap

Eugene has spent a few weeks in hell and assumed a tougher persona as a means of surviving. He's bulked up and has a back tattoo that reads "Tracy" in big gothic letters. One prisoner is sent to the Hole for being caught doing something nice so Eugene must avoid getting caught doing the same or he risks suffering the same fate.

Tulip is still suffering from PTSD following her violent encounter with the Saint of Killers but she doesn't want to talk about her nightmares with Cassidy, who reflects on the birth and life of Denis. Denis is still rapidly declining in health and Cassidy refuses to turn him into a vampire as a means of saving him. Cassidy asks Jesse if there's anything he can do to help him but Jesse is uncertain if Genesis would be able to help the situation in any way. Jesse and Tulip's relationship is strained. Jesse seems to harbour some resentment towards Tulip, while Tulip chooses to cope with her trauma by shopping for a replacement refrigerator instead of opening up.

The Hell system is broken because there's an extra person there that shouldn't be. Hitler rightly suspects that Eugene is the extra person and warns him that there are more facets to the horrors of Hell. To prove this, he trips a woman to trick Eugene into doing something kind, helping her up. This means that Eugene will be sent to the Hole.

Jesse continues his search for God by getting help trying to extrapolate information from the audition tape. Tulip further copes by spackling over the holes in the apartment and performing other repairs. The Hole doesn't only make a person relive their worst memory on a loop. That memory is twisted to match your worst fears too. In this memory, Tracy doesn't kill herself. She responds well to Eugene admitting his feelings but then she says she's already promised herself to God and Jesse emerges from the bathroom. Tracy and Jesse begin to hook up and a distraught Eugene prepares to kill himself once again. Hitler tells Eugene that if he's caught as the mistake that he will be thrown into the Hole forever as opposed to simply being let go. Hitler says he wants to help Eugene escape...

Cassidy struggles with watching Denis die but his own memories of the difficulties his life has had as an immortal being make him stay determined not to turn Denis. Life isn't less painful just because you're immortal and you can't numb the pain away with drugs or enjoy some time off at the beach... essentially, Cassidy doesn't think that the perks of being a vampire are worth the costs and he doesn't want to subject his son to such an existence.

Tulip meets a new neighbour, Lara Featherstone, who claims to be a battered woman on the run. In actuality, she has been sent to be a monitor of Jesse on behalf of the Grail. The two appear to strike up a casual friendship when Tulip patched up the hole in Lara's apartment. Jesse has given up his attempts to use the DVD in his search for God and leaves it at the store where it is put into a shredder. But Jesse somehow was too obtuse to notice that the words "Grail Industries" were stamped onto the DVD.

Preacher S02E07 "Pig" Recap

In Vietnam, an older couple is frightened by something outside their home. Herr Starr is called in to investigate the commotion it attracts and finds a floating pig that both frightens and awes the locals.

Back in New Orleans, Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy are resuming their search for God but struggle to know what to do next. Denis is recuperating as well as to be expected after being terrorized by the Saint, whom Jesse had locked in an armored truck and sunk into the swamp in the previous episode. When Jesse is at a loss as to where to go next and what to do so Cassidy proposes they go to a dive bar where a dangerous game is being played. People that choose to participate must don a bulletproof vest, be shot at and then get up afterwards. Jesse and Tulip set up a scam so Cassidy will be shot at in the game with the biggest gun the the players have which would kill anyone that was a regular human. Cassidy is posing as Tulip's boyfriend and the two kiss as part of the charade which Jesse is taken aback by, believing it to be a bit more convincing than he'd like. Cassidy is injured but survives due to his being a vampire and the trio are able to scam the players out of their money.

Denis must use a translator at the bar, due to Cassidy not understanding French, to inform him that although Cassidy has been a selfish, absent father, he can save Denis from dying of congestive heart failure if he would agree to turn him into a vampire. Cassidy refuses to do so and Denis leaves the bar upset.

In a flashback, Herr Starr is interviewed by a hiring agent that informs him that only the most qualified and pious candidates will be considered for an elite new job. Herr Starr has resolved the floating pig situation in Vietnam by killing everyone that was exposed to it. He is invited to a rigorous boot camp in which he is tested on a number of skills including combat and seduction. He has the most unconventional approach out of any of the candidates but proves to be an effective candidate, though opts to make threats instead of traditional seduction. However, he is the strongest at withstanding torture by electrical shocks as he doesn't react at all. When the candidates are narrowed down to two candidates and they are tested on their ability to shoot, Herr Starr opts to shoot the final candidate remaining instead of the target. Thus, he is selected to join The Grail. This secret organisation has been at the heart of many world events for a long time and their aim is to preserve the lineage of Jesus Christ, who secretly had a child, in preparation for the apocalypse. Herr Starr must help take out false prophets and be the right-hand man of the Grail's leader. The Grail was even responsible for the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. But Herr Starr kills the man in charge that recruited him shortly after he is brought into the group.

Tulip has a nightmare about the Saint of Killers due to the trauma of her encounter with him. Cassidy is missing as he passed out drunk after his disagreement with Denis and was mistaken for a dead body. When he wakes up he is inside a morgue cabinet. Tulip decides to cope with her trauma by engaging in the dangerous shooting game as a way of distractive thrill-seeking.

Herr Starr is given his next assignment, which is to go after Jesse next. Jesse is sitting watching a news story about the dead Vietnamese village that Herr Starr killed. He has been struggling with the aftermath of sacrificing part of his soul for his loved ones.

Preacher S02E06 "Sokosha" Recap

A Japanese man running a clinical trial of sorts meets with an African American couple. He extracts 15% of an unknown substance from the man as the two are desperate for funds to pay their bills. The couple is given a check for $150,000 for the small vial of glowing liquid extracted from the man's leg. In turn, the man brings the vial to an older white couple. The woman appears to be suffering from dementia or a similar condition that effects her cognition. After confirming that the sample is a match to the woman, the Japanese man uses a machine to turn the liquid into a pill which restores the woman's cognitive abilities. Following this, the man is paid $2,700,000 for her services. He is shown to be transported in an armored truck with a security team and a cabinet full of similar vials.

Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy are resuming their search for God and enjoying breakfast together while discussing where they'll go next. The Saint of Killers is fast approaching with Viktor's daughter, who agreed to give up Jesse's location when he cornered her after murdering Viktor. She directs him to the correct building but sends him into the wrong apartment. While the Saint is murdering one of the neighbors, the girl runs away. The Saint continues his hunt for Jesse by murdering the neighbors one by one. Jesse realises something is wrong, having heard a gunshot and finding that a stray bullet went through the fridge and into a yogurt. The bullet indicates it's the Saint that's on his way to their location but by the time he arrives at their apartment the trio have escaped out the window.

Jesse tries to call Fiore for help or perhaps information but learns of his death, though it doesn't seem he knows that he was inadvertently responsible for him finally being able to die by using Genesis to tell him to find peace. The trio head to a library to do research on the Saint of Killers in the hopes of finding a way to stop him. This is how they learn that the Saint was a man that lost his soul and was banished by God. He was forced to relive his worst memory in Hell over and over again. Cassidy cals Deniis to try to warn him about the Saint but by then it's too late, as Denis enters his apartment anyway and is captured by the Saint. Jesse speaks through Denis' cell phone and uses Genesis to tell him not to hurt Gensis. Jesse says he's coming and returns to the apartment. Denis is still alive but being help captive. Jesse informs the Saint that God is missing and shows him the audition tape to prove his account of what has happened and how he is now on a quest to find him. Jesse strikes a deal with the Saint. Now that God is gone, he can't be the one to let the Saint back into heaven so Jesse offers to find him a soul so the Saint will be able to enter heaven. Jesse informs Tulip and Cassidy of what he must now do and they must stay behind as the Saint's hostages with Denis. Jesse has just one hour to get a soul for the Saint or else they'll all be killed.

Jesse visits a voodoo shop in search of a soul for the Saint. The man running the shop tells Jesse about the Japanese company seen at the beginning of the episode, which has now taken over the business of dealing with souls. He directs Jesse to a truck outside that operates for the company and the man inside is the same one seen previously. Jesse tries to get into the truck but it's too heavily armored to easily break into and the men inside either don't notice him or refuse to open it up. Tulip calls Jesse to check on his progress and warns that Denis isn't doing well and needs his medicine. Tulip instructs him to go to a shop to pick up some simple supplies to build a bomb that detonates as the truck is beginning to drive away but the technology is so advanced that the man in the back doesn't even notice that a bomb went off. Jesse is confronted by some police officers for making the bomb and says he'll have to call Tulip back.

Tulip asks Cassidy about the concern he has for Denis and Cassidy reveals that Denis is his son. Tulip is moved by this revelation and implores the Saint to let Denis go so he can get the medicine he needs and says that she and Cassidy will still be his hostages. Tulip tries to use the memory of the Saint's daughter to convince him but this only angers him and he remains unmoved to the plight of Denis.

Jesse uses the police officers that cornered him to get into the truck. He demands the man find a match for the Saint but his soul type is so rare that none of the vials in the truck match. Jesse then tests his own soul and finds that it is a match. Jesse asks what the least amount he can give is and the man says it's 1%. He gets the extract turned into a pill and makes it back to the apartment just in time before the Saint was about to kill Tulip and was only delayed by Cassidy having his fingers sliced off on the Saint's blade to hold him off.

Jesse is revealed to have come from a family called L'Angelle that has some type of connection to the ongoings of the series but the extent of which has yet to be revealed. Cassidy and Tulip leave with Denis to get him his help, leaving Jesse alone with the Saint. Jesse hands over the tablet and the Saint correctly deduces that it has come from Jesse. Once the Saint has taken the tablet, Jesse is able to use Genesis to command him to do his bidding. Jesse orders the Saint to get on his knees and the Saint must obey. The Saint was only immune to Genesis before due to his lack of a soul. Jesse forces the Saint to disarm himself of all his weapons and Jesse considers sending the Saint back to hell for all the crimes he has committed in his time murdering people.

Instead of sending him back to hell, Jesse requires the armored truck and locks the Saint in the back portion of it before sinking it into a swamp. The Saint screams for Jesse as the truck slowly sinks to the bottom.

Cassidy gets Denis settled back into his home with brand new TV (the Saint had destroyed the previous one). Tulip is worried about Jesse and tired from the latest disruptions to their quest. Jesse is shown to be in the bathroom, hiding the Saint's weapons under the bathroom floor.

Preacher S02E05 "Dallas" Recap

Jesse is shaken by the revelation that Tulip is married to Viktor and continues to beat on him and keep him a chokehold despite Tulip's protests that she only came there to get a divorce from him. Tulip is shocked by Jesse's blatant use of Genesis, as evidenced by all the frozen henchmen scattered throughout the house and Jesse drags Viktor to the torture room in the house. Tulip repeatedly apologises and tells Jesses to stop what he is doing but Jesse ropes Viktor up and prepares to torture him. Tulip implores him to remember that they had originally been through with their relationship after Dallas but Jesse uses Genesis on her and orders her to leave the room.

A flashback begins about what happened after Carlos betrayed Jesse and Tulip, causing her to miscarry their baby. This is the story of Jesse and Tulip in Dallas. They tried to pick up the pieces of their life by living a regular life with non-criminal jobs despite offers to get back into the business of crime. They also try to get pregnant again but are unsuccessful.

Tulip brings Viktor's young daughter Ally to Denis' house to try to keep her away from the violence, though she knows about Jesse and how he intends to kill Viktor. Tulip punches Cassidy for telling Jesse where she went and Cassidy insists that he only did so because he was worried about her safety.

Resuming the flashback, Jesse increasingly spirals into drinking his sorrows away and prays even more for Tulip and he to be able to conceive. His routine is monotonous, consisting of drinking, getting high, trying to get Tulip pregnant, and being despondent all the while. The discontent accumulates until Tulip decides to begin working as a contract criminal once again. Jesse is upset when he finds a stash of cash which reveals her return to crime-work and the fact that she lied about it. The two have a massive argument in which Jesse also confronts Tulip about how she hasn't gotten pregnant because she's been taking birth control the entire time while pretending to try to get pregnant again with Jesse. Tulip says she doesn't know how to aspire for the normal life that Jesse has been trying to build and the two separate, with Jesse returning to his father's church to become a preacher. This is the final straw that leads to their breakup.

Cassidy visits Jesse, seemingly to try to talk him out of killing Viktor. Jesse confronts Cassidy about how he lied to him for all that time about Tulip and Viktor and Cassidy convinces him that no matter what Jesse decides to do about Viktor, he will support his decision and expresses empathy to his predicament. Cassidy acknowledges that if it was his woman in Tulip's situation, he wouldn't hesitate to kill Viktor. He also stresses that Tulip still loves Jesse even after everything that has happened. Jesse is concerned that killing Viktor would mean the end of his relationship with Tulip but appears determined to carry out his brutalisation of Viktor anyway.

When Jesse returns to Denis' house, Tulip and Cassidy stare at him tensely, wanting to know what has happened to Viktor. Jesse reveals that he took Viktor down, and the pair initially interpret this to mean that he killed Viktor. He then clarifies that he took Viktor down from the ceiling straps and did not actually kill him. The only thing he did was compel Viktor to sign the divorce papers. Viktor's daughter is still at Denis' house and Cassidy leaves to tell her the good news while Tulip and Jesse reconcile their relationship despite knowing they have toxic aspects to it.

In the flashback, we see Tulip begin her relationship with Viktor and marry him due to his money and power. One day, she receives a call from Dany who tries to offer her a job that Tulip declines. But when Dany informs her that she has found Carlos, Tulip runs off and leaves Viktor immediately.

In the present, Ally is returned to Viktor and asks him to read to her till she falls asleep. The Saint of Killers arrives at Viktor's house, having tracked Jesse's use of Genesis. Viktor tells his daughter to hide in the closet and attempts to shoot the Saint of Killers but to no avail. The Saint demands to know where Jesse is and shoots Viktor when he doesn't give an answer. The Saint then finds Ally hiding in the closet and prepares to shoot her until she says she knows where Jesse is.

Preacher airs on Mondays on AMC at 9/8c.

Preacher S2E4 "Viktor" Recap

Tulip is away, having turned herself in to Viktor's men but Jesse and Cassidy are none the wiser. Jesse goes to Denis' house and decides to take a nap after talking with Cassidy about the continuing search he has been on for God.

Tulip is finally reunited with Viktor and he is less than welcoming as are other faces familiar to her at his house.

Eugene encounters Hitler in hell along with some of the other residents form other cells. Eugene sticks up for one of the women when one resident named Tyler is giving her a hard time. When Tyler turns his attention to Eugene, Hitler steps in and tells him to stop. Some alarms start blaring and everyone retreats back into their cells. Eugene is locked out of his room and Hitler offers him opportunity to come into his room, saying if he is caught in the hall that he will be put into the hole. Eugene is understandably nervous being in the same room as Hitler. Eugene experiences Hitler's simulation which takes him back to Munich 1919 where he is having lunch with a woman that arises him to speak to an important dealer in the same restaurant as them. The simulation is interrupted midway due to the machine resetting and Hitler advises Eugene to go back to his cell.

Jesse tells Cassidy they need to keep searching for God and claims that Tulip being missing is just due to their having fought and that she will return once she has settled down. Cassidy spots an actor on an infomercial that had posed as God in Jesse's church. They do a bit of research and find that the actor is Mark Harelik (who is playing a fictionalized version of himself). After tracking down Haerlik's talent manger, they obtain a demo reel of his that was provided by the people who hired Harelik to portray God.

Eugene is pulled aside by some higher-ups in Hell that inform him of how overcrowded the place is which is why they are often breaking down, plus the low budget doesn't help, and warn him that they've reviewed his life tapes and observed his kind nature. Such behaviour won't be tolerated in Hell and he will be expected to act accordingly to his surroundings and the higher-ups will be watching.

Jesse and Cassidy watch Harelik's demo reel and in it, Harelik is executed in order to be sent to Heaven. This makes Jesse wonder why they have encountered so many coincidences in New Orleans related to his quest to find God. Cassidy then decides to reveal to Jesse about how Tulip had turned herself in to Viktor. Tulip has grown sick of everyone giving her the cold shoulder and knocks out one of the henchmen to get his gun and plot to kill Viktor and make her escape. She corners him with the gun and demands that he let her go or else she will kill him. Heels her to do it but she is tackled by some of Viktor's men before she can go through with it. They disarm her and knock her down and Viktor tells them to leave her to him. She looks helplessly at her phone that's been knocked to the side which is receiving text messages from Cassidy asking if she's okay.

Eugene is sent to a room where the other Hell residents are lounging. He strikes up a conversation with Hitler and says he doesn't seem as bad as he was when alive and asks him if he is still bad. Tyler comes over and begins to make fun of Eugene's facial deformity and Hitler stops him once again. When Tyler begins to beat Hitler up instead with the other inmates, Eugene looks at the cameras monitoring them and joins in by kicking Hitler.

Jesse uses Genesis to infiltrate Viktor's home in search of Tulip. One of Viktor's henchmen knocks Jesse down and puts some headphones in and blasts music loudly so Jesse's attempts to use Genesis are unsuccessful. A fight breaks out between the two until Jesse manages to get the upper hand and find out where Tulip is. He goes upstairs to Viktor's bedroom and finds Tulip talking with Viktor and when Jesse punches Viktor and overpowers him, Tulip says he can't kill Viktor because he is her husband. Finally, we see the Saint on the move, having detected Jesse through the multiple uses of Genesis.
