Headlocked Comics Present WOW-Women Of Wrestling Limited Collectible
WOW – WOMEN OF WRESTLING & MICHAEL KINGSTON’S HEADLOCKED COMICS UNVEIL AN ALL-NEW LIMITED EDITION COMIC-CON COLLECTIBLE BY ARTIST SKYLAR PATRIDGE
The Piece is Only Available on July 20 at Booth 1901, as Part of a Free Signing Event with WOWIcons Jeanie Buss, David McLane, & The Beast
AXS TV ’s WOW – Women Of Wrestling, in conjunction with celebrated comics creator Michael Kingston’s Headlocked Comics, is proud to present this first look at the groundbreaking promotion’s limited edition collectible created exclusively for San Diego Comic-Con. The collectible is available from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday, July 20 at the Headlocked Comics Booth (#1901)—the only wrestling-themed comics booth at the convention—while supplies last.
The first 100 people in line will receive the print and have it signed free of charge by WOW owner Jeanie Buss; WOW visionary, matchmaker, and commentator David McLane; and WOW fan-favorite The Beast. Promotional 8x10 photos will be available for signing, as well. Additionally, Con goers will have the opportunity to come face-to-face with reigningWOW Champion Tessa Blanchard, and pose with her coveted World Championship belt, at Booth 1901 on Sunday, July 21 from 12pm to 2pm.
The print was commissioned by Kingston and created by New Mexico-based artist Skylar Patridge, who has amassed credits from Black Mask, Image, and Scout Comics, and is currently working on Vault Comics’ upcoming Relics Of Youth series. Comic enthusiasts will instantly recognize the piece as a stylish homage to the iconic cover of Uncanny X-Men #387. In place of the legendary mutant squad, Patridge depicts WOW icons Buss, McLane, Blanchard, and The Beast in a series of powerful poses, joined by fellow WOW Superheroes Faith The Lioness and Fire. This marks the second collaboration between Patridge and Kingston, after partnering up on a print of former WWE star Amy “Lita” Dumas for Emerald City Comic Con.
"My goal with Headlocked has always been about bringing wrestling and comics together,” Kingston said. “Doing an homage cover felt like the best way to showcase the WOW Superheroes at Comic-Con, and Skye was my first choice to make it happen. She's an incredible artist, she digs wrestling, and I feel like she's about to blow up any day, so I gotta try and get my collabs in while I can."
