SDCC with its continually expanding scope now not only takes place in the convention centre in downtown San Diego but extends into an increasing portion of the nearby hotels, businesses, and other spaces of land. This year a number of film and television properties offered some outdoor exhibits and experiences to attract new viewers. The Bladerunner: 2049 exhibit (pictured above) maintained a respectable queue throughout the weekend and even passed out white umbrellas as giveaway merchandise.

The upcoming Amazon series The Tick set up both an interactive exhibit with an impressive visual display as well as a Prime Member Lounge.

Broad City also offered up a modest but colourful promotional exhibit.

It wouldn't be SDCC without AMC's The Walking Dead which had a large set-up complete with actors portraying live, groaning zombies.

Netflix brought its own exhibit for the anticipated new Marvel team-up series The Defenders.

The new supernatural series Midnight, Texas not only had an interactive exhibit complete with trailers for the series on a loop, but also a signing with the cast and Charlaine Harris herself!

Kong: Skull Island displayed an enormously wide exhibit to promote the film's DVD release.

The latest animated LEGO film, NINJAGO, had a stereotypical display.

With Vikings likely to be ending with this next season, History Channel took full opportunity to promote its new epic adventure series Knightfall with actors dressed as Knights in shining armour to up the fantasy created.

American Horror Story not only announced its final season's concept (Cult!) at SDCC but held a popular display near the Hilton Bayside hotel.
