Spider-man is headed back to the MCU!

So that thing that every fanboy and girl wished for is finally coming true. It was announced today that Spider-man is returning to the Marvel Universe and most importantly to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)!

Although it sounds like a partnership, this appears to be a step in the right direction to get Spider-man and his villains back in the Marvel family where it belongs.

So all those rumors that Spider-man could appear in an Avengers films look like they could actually come to fruition. In the comics, Spider-man has been an important part of the Avengers, so it seems like the perfect time for him to come back to the flock.

With the announcement its likely that Spider-man will be reboot again. So who would you like to see as our favorite webslinger?

The downside looks to be the fact that by bringing on Spider-man there will have to be some movement in the schedule. It's shifting the dates of Thor, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Inhumans to later dates for the accommodation. Spider-man will take Thor's release date of July 2017, moving Thor: Ragnarok to November 3. 2017. Black Panther will be moved from that date to July 6, 2018, which Captain Marvel held. Captain Marvel (which still has no lead announced) will head to November 2, 2018, and Inhumans will take the July 12, 2019 spot. The one movie, or rather 2 movies that will not be changing dates are Avengers 3: Infinity Wars part 1 and 2 which will remain May 2018 and May 2019. Still even with the moves, bringing Spider-man in seems like a win.

(Culver City, California, and Burbank, California February 09, 2015) – Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios announced today that Sony is bringing Marvel into the amazing world of Spider-Man. 

Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel's Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.

Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films.
