"Hannibal" - SDCC 2014 Interviews

At SDCC 2014, Museled sat down with the stars and crew of NBC's fan-favourite show Hannibal to discuss all the excitement of season 2 and what's in store for season 3.

Scott Thompson expressed interest in playing his yet-to-be seen twin brother on the show and Aaron Abrams discussed how the strong emotional content of the show is what better allows them to include such graphic violence. They also teased how television is giving the film medium a run for its money and expressed their love for Comic Con and the fans they get to connect with.


Raul Esparza expressed his appreciation for Bryan Fuller's comedic writing, particularly for his character, Dr. Chilton, the work that goes into putting the food together for the show, and one of his best improvised moments that ended up making it into an episode.


Caroline talked about the changes Alana will have to go through after the traumatic events of the season 2 finale, the journey her character has gone during her time on the show, potential dog names, and the input she has been able to give for Alana.


Executive producer/writer Steven Lightfoot shared what he is looking forward to in season 3, discussed the aesthetic of the violent crimes presented on the show, the use of surreal imagery, the role of music, and the intensity, passion, and creativity of fans.


Producers David Slade and Martha De Laurentiis talk about the theatricality of the violence, Bryan's writing, the notes they receive from Standards and Practices, that highly memorable "menage a cinq," and the toll it takes internally to create these stories.


Bryan Fuller shares how the first episode of season 3 will be like a brand new pilot, as it explores the background of Hannibal and Bedelia's relationship, the colourful language used in the dialogue between Will and Hannibal, the death of Beverly Katz, new characters that will be introduced in season 3, how he will balance doing Hannibal with his new job adapting Neil Gaiman's American Gods, the importance of the fans, his views on fanfiction, his love of Comic Con, and how the fan feedback regarding female characters in season 2 helped to shape the direction of season 3.


Hannibal season 3 will air on NBC in 2015.
