Wizard World Comic Con Sacramento Set For October 5-7 At Cal Expo, As Part Of 2018 Schedule Boost To 16 Events

Event Not On Original 2018 Schedule, Previously Held At Sacramento Convention Center; Three Inaugural Shows Posted Along With Return To Tulsa, Austin; Madison Moved Back Two Months

SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 22, 2018 – Wizard World, Inc. (OTCBB: WIZD) today announced the return of Sacramento to its 2018 schedule, as part of several changes that will increase the total number of events to 16 as well as move several shows to alternate dates and locations during the year. The fifth annual Wizard World Comic Con Sacramento will be held October 5-7 at Cal Expo (previous year’s events were held at the Sacramento Convention Center).

Celebrity and comic creators rosters, as well as programming and entertainment schedules, will be announced closer to the event.

The summary of the new events is as follows:
  • New show in Winston-Salem, N.C., August 3-5, Benton Convention Center
  • New show in Springfield, Mo., October 26-28, University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center
  • New show in Montgomery, Ala., November 9-11, The Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center
  • Return to Tulsa, Okla., September 7-9, Cox Business Center (moved from Oklahoma City, originally scheduled Oct. 26-28)
  • Return to Austin, Texas, September 21-23, Austin Convention Center (event was not on original 2018 schedule)
  • Return to Sacramento, Calif., October 5-7, Cal Expo (event was not on original 2018 schedule; previously this event was held at Sacramento Convention Center)
  • Madison, Wis., moved to November 30-December 2, Alliant Energy Center (originally scheduled Sept. 21-23)

Wizard World Comic Con events bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop culture: movies, television, gaming, live entertainment, comics, sci-fi, graphic novels, toys, original art, collectibles, contests and more. Kids 10 and under are admitted free with paid adult.

Wizard World Comic Con is also the place for cosplay, with fans young and old showing off their best costumes throughout the event. 'Underworld, 'Pearl Harbor' Star, 'Batman Forever,' 'Top Gun' Headliner Set For Saturday-Sunday Appearance At Sacramento Convention Center

SACRAMENTO, Calif., June 5, 2017Kate Beckinsale, star of such films as Underworld and Pearl Harbor, and Val Kilmer, standout in Batman Forever and Top Gun, have been added to the top-flight celebrity roster at Wizard World Comic Con Sacramento at the Sacramento Convention Center. Both will appear on Saturday and Sunday, June 17-18, when they will greet fans, sign autographs, pose for photo ops and conduct interactive Q&A sessions with fans.

After some minor television roles, the British Beckinsale made her film debut in Much Ado About Nothing (1993) while still a student at the University of Oxford. She then appeared in British costume dramas such as Prince of Jutland  (1994), Cold Comfort Farm (1995), Emma (1996), and  The Golden Bowl (2000), in addition to various stage and radio productions. She began to seek film work in the United States in the late 1990s and, after appearing in small-scale dramas The Last Days of Disco (1998) and  Brokedown Palace (1999), she had starring roles in the war drama Pearl Harbor and the romantic comedy Serendipity . She followed those with appearances in The Aviator (2004) and Click (2006).

Since being cast as Selene in the Underworld film series (2003-present), Beckinsale has become known primarily for her work in action films, including Van Helsing (2004),  Whiteout (2009), Contraband (2012), and Total Recall  (2012). She also continues to make appearances in dramatic projects such as Snow Angels (2007), Nothing but the Truth (2008), and  Everybody’s Fine (2009).

Originally a stage actor, Kilmer became popular in the mid-1980s after a string of appearances in comedy films, starting with Top Secret! (1984), then the cult classic Real Genius (1985), as well as the military action film Top Gun (1986) and the fantasy film Willow (1988).

Some of his other notable film roles include Jim Morrison in The Doors (1991), Doc Holliday in Tombstone (1993), armed robber Chris Shiherlis in  Heat (1995), Bruce Wayne / Batman in Batman Forever (1995), Simon Templar in The Saint  (1997), astronaut Robby Gallagher in Red Planet (2000), and a meth-using informant in The Salton Sea (2002).

The two join a Wizard World Comic Con Sacramento field of stars which includes Nichelle Nichols (“Star Trek”), the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” quartet of James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter. (OTCBB: WIZD) continues its 2017 schedule with its fourth trip to the Sacramento Center at Wizard World Comic Con Sacramento, June 16-18. Nichelle Nichols (“Star Trek”) and the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” trio of  James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter and Nicholas Brendon, Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, “Gilmore Girls”), Kevin Sorbo (“Hercules,” “Andromeda”) and Barry Bostwick (Rocky Horror Picture Show , “Spin City”) headline the roster of celebrity guests scheduled to attend the comic con and pop culture extravaganza.
