New: Rumer's lullaby for lovers, "The Fate of Fireflies" out now!

Upcoming album is the “chanteuse’s unexpected but
immaculate country conversion” (MOJO)

British vocalist RUMER has unveiled a sensual lullaby with 4th instant grat track, “The Fate of Fireflies,” from NASHVILLE TEARS, her upcoming album of songs by Hugh Prestwood (Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame). The song is available now with album pre-order and accompanied by a night-sky themed lyric video - https://youtu.be/XCrBH_zrpMQ.

Prestwood’s storytelling frequently makes metaphors of the natural world and on “The Fate of Fireflies,” a lover suggests dimming the bright lights of the world like the fireflies who find each other best in the dark. Other IG tracks already unveiled include the ethereal “Bristlecone Pine,” which juxtaposes mortality with the world’s oldest living thing; “The Song Remembers When,” about nostalgia through music which was a hit previously for Trisha Yearwood;  and the retro-styled “Hard Times For Lovers.”

Early praise from Billboard noted “Rumer’s whispered vocals over delicate acoustic guitar and soaring string accompaniment.” Rolling Stone wrote of “her warm alto – with shades of Karen Carpenter” and mastery in finding “the perfect spot in her vocal range to sit and max out the nostalgic melancholy.” MOJO Magazine’s early 4-star review raved, “helmed by former Jimmy Webb producer Fred Mollin, (the album) features the cream of Nashville’s session fraternity on 15 songs by Hugh Prestwood, whose material has been recorded by Judy Collins, Trisha Yearwood, & Alison Krauss. Prestwood’s slow-burning tales of desire and domestic discord are well-matched by Rumer’s beautifully plangent voice, which brings aching melancholy to the heart-searching ballads.”

Rumer first discovered the songs of Hugh Prestwood as she searched for “lost gems” while living in the American South. With grand arrangements and traditional elements, Nashville Tears was produced by Fred Mollin at StarStruck Studios with some of Music City’s best musicians; Mandy Barnett, Pat Buchanan, Matt Dame, Stuart Duncan, Tania Hancheroff, Lorrie Harden, Tommy Harden, Mike Johnson, Kerry Marx, Gordon Mote, Larry Paxton, Scotty Sanders, and Bryan Sutton.

Her 2010 debut with Seasons of My Soul earned her a MOJO Award, two Brit Award nominations, and went platinum in the U.K. and Ireland, In the U.S., Rumer has earned praise from NPR, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, CBS Sunday Morning, and others.

"The Fate Of Fireflies" lyrics
Well, I read somewhere
That they're slowly disappearing
'Cause there's too much light
In the evening sky
And in all that glare
Even with their brightest flicker
They can't find another firefly

Baby, I could swear
That the same goes for true lovers
Don't they always find
Each other in the dark
It was a twist of fate
That I was trapped in shadows
When I saw you flash your
Perfect spark

There are all these people
In the world
Saying true love's just a lie
Every night they flit into the glow
Of a rosy neon sky

So what do you say
Baby, shall we turn these lights out
So that we can see
What's right before our eyes
And by that faint flame
Let us find salvation
And escape the fate of fireflies...

Rumer - "The Song Remembers When" Billboard premiere; MOJO's 4 star review for Nashville Tears

RUMER's nostalgic take on
"The Song Remembers When"

Billboard Premiere; MOJO 4-Star Album Review

Nashville Tears, songs by Hugh Prestwood,
4/24 release on Cooking Vinyl
British vocalist RUMER's take on “The Song Remembers When,” is out now. The country ballad, previously a hit single for Trisha Yearwood, is the latest from Nashville Tears, which features the songs of Hugh Prestwood, a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee. It is the 3rd advance track, after “Bristlecone Pine” and “Hard Times For Lovers,” available early with album pre-order before the release of Nashville Tears on April 24 with Cooking Vinyl.
Billboard debuted the track, praising “Rumer’s whispered vocals over delicate acoustic guitar and soaring string accompaniment” and MOJO gave a 4-star album review to the “chanteuse’s unexpected but immaculate country conversion.”
MOJO continued, “Helmed by former Jimmy Webb producer Fred Mollin, it features the cream of Nashville’s session fraternity on 15 songs by Hugh Prestwood, whose material has been recorded by the likes of Judy Collins, Trisha Yearwood, and Alison Krauss. Prestwood’s slow-burning tales of desire and domestic discord are well-matched by Rumer’s beautifully plangent voice, which brings aching melancholy to the intimate, heart-searching ballads “Starcrossed Hanger of the Moon,” and “June, It’s Gonna Happen.” Though leavened with a couple of uptempo songs (including the rocking “Deep Summer In The Deep South”), the mood is subdued, suiting the warm intimacy of Rumer’s delivery.”
Rumer discovered the songs of Hugh Prestwood as she searched for “lost gems” while living in the American South. With grand arrangements and traditional elements, Nashville Tears was produced by Fred Mollin at StarStruck Studios with some of Music City’s best musicians; Mandy Barnett, Pat Buchanan, Matt Dame, Stuart Duncan, Tania Hancheroff, Lorrie Harden, Tommy Harden, Mike Johnson, Kerry Marx, Gordon Mote, Larry Paxton, Scotty Sanders, and Bryan Sutton.
Since her 2010 debut album Seasons of My Soul earned her a MOJO Award, two Brit Award nominations, and was certified platinum in the U.K. and Ireland, Rumer has earned praise in the U.S. from NPR, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and CBS Sunday Morning.

RAM V & ANAND RK ENTER THE DARK, TWISTED MIND OF A TORTURED MUSICIAN IN THE ORIGINAL GRAPHIC NOVEL BLUE IN GREEN

Interior preview pages revealed
Bestselling creators Ram V (Grafity’s Wall, These Savage Shores) and Anand RK (Grafity’s Wall) team up for an exploration of ambitions, expectations, and the horrific depths of their spiraling pursuit in Blue in Green. This original graphic novel will hit stores in October from Image Comics.

The dark and haunting portrayal of a young musician’s pursuit of creative genius— the monstrous nature of which threatens to consume him as it did his predecessor half a century ago.

"Blue In Green is unlike anything we’ve done before," said Ram V in an exclusive with The Onion's AV Club. "The fact that Anand and I are expanding our boundaries as creators, I think is evident in the way this book looks and reads. I am excited for both fans and new readers to experience this book.”

Anand RK added: "Blue In Green is a coming together of some of my biggest influences both in terms of genre and in stylistic tone. It comes at a time when realism and grounded storytelling is something of great interest to me. It is both a distant and an intensely personal project at the same time. The protagonist, in many ways, is me. I have used myself as reference to draw him, grew a beard for this reason, many of my own little personal traits have made their way into him. The gradual shift in a man’s psyche and his grip on his world, the way Ram plays with the tone and craftfully shifts it and then brings it all back without making it look jarring, this is something that I find quite exciting about this book, even as I draw it. I think readers are going to see that come through in the work. They’ll hopefully find something intensely human and personal in a story that often pushes at the edges of its own reality.”

Blue in Green (ISBN: 978-1-5343-1713-0) will be available on Wednesday, October 28 and in bookstores on Tuesday, November 3. It can be pre-ordered at your local comic book shop and on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, IndieBound, and Indigo.

Blue in Green will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.

ALEX DE CAMPI, ERICA HENDERSON OUT FOR BLOOD WITH PULP HORROR GRAPHIC NOVEL—DRACULA, MOTHERF**KER—IN STORES THIS OCTOBER

Preview pages of the action-filled twist
on the classic Bram Stoker vampire tale revealed
Bestselling writer Alex de Campi (Archie vs. Predator) and Erica Henderson (Squirrel Girlteam up for a pulpy, pulse-pounding, original graphic novel titled Dracula, Motherf**ker. This California-set, psychological horror story will hit stores from Image Comics in October.

Straddling two different timelines, Dracula, Motherf**ker travels between Vienna, 1889 where Dracula’s brides nail him to the bottom of his coffin and Los Angeles, 1974: wherein an ageing starlet decides to raise the stakes. Crime scene photographer Quincy Harker is the only man who knows it happened, but will anyone believe him... before he gets outlined in chalk himself?

“Most people who know my work are aware that I love pulp/exploitation cinema so me doing a book called Dracula, Motherf**ker shouldn’t really surprise anyone,” said De Campi. “Another thing I wanted to bring to this pulp fantasia was a sensibility from horror anime, with its love of transformation and of the noncorporeal, to push the element of man-as-monster in directions specifically suited to sequential art. Things like the abstract portrayal of Alucard (or Pride in FMA: Brotherhood), and the use of Superflat art in Madoka Magica were tremendously inspirational in this book, especially as that use of flatness dovetails nicely with the work of Gustav Klimt in with the book’s 1889 prologue, and with late-1960s pop art and the psychedelic liquid-light projections of the Joshua Light Show.

Erica Henderson has been an absolute dream to work with. She brings so, so much to the book, from her expert visual storytelling skills and her experimental, wildly exciting use of colour in this story to her appreciation of my Demi Moore jokes.  When I saw there’s a nocturne page which is chartreuse silhouettes on a cobalt background, I nearly died, it was so striking. Erica’s so famous from Squirrel Girl so people frequently think of her in terms of her skill with comedy, but seriously, she can do ANYTHING. And watching what she does with Dracula, Motherf**ker? There’s a lyricism of line and mastery of colour that blows everything else she’s done out of the water. That splash on page two makes me think of Kuniyoshi, and she’s brought so much in from blaxploitation film posters, pulp detective novel/Robert McGinnis colours... I’m really not worthy. People will be talking about her art on this book for a long time.”

The perfect standalone story for fans of BBC One’s recent miniseries Dracula, this is an action-filled twist on the classic Bram Stoker vampire tale.

Dracula, Motherf**ker (ISBN: 978-1-5343-1700-0) will be available on Wednesday, October 7 and in bookstores on Tuesday, October 13. It can be pre-ordered at your local comic book shops on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, IndieBound, and Indigo.

Dracula, Motherf**ker will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.

"Bloodshot" Review

The Premise: Vin Diesel plays the titular character known as "Bloodshot" (whose civilian name is Ray Garrison), a former soldier turned super-weapon by way of nano technology infused into his blood that make him stronger and more durable with the ability to repair the injuries he sustains at a rapid rate. After being saved from a near-death experience with these newfound abilities, he must find down the parties responsible for the death of his wife.

The Good: David S. F. Wilson is making his directorial debut after a career of working in VFX and that particular background is evident in the creativity and design of the special effects throughout the film. Though some have criticised Vin Diesel's performance, it's no less adequate than the performers that popularised the B movie action flick in decades past. The difference is that this time there is a budget and technological advancements to better develop the straight-forward revenge plots of those films.

Who The Film Is For: The general consensus from Valiant fans seems to be that they appreciate the film's approach in adapting the source material. Those looking for a less child-oriented superhero film, or a nostalgic trip down memory lane of the revenge-seeking action star are sure to enjoy this.
