Magnolia Pictures Attains US Rights to Terrence Malick’s TO THE WONDER

New York, NY – September 28, 2012 – The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnolia Pictures announced today that they have acquired US rights to Terrence Malick’s TO THE WONDER, which bowed at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month. Starring Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko, Rachel McAdams and Javier Bardem, this stunningly beautiful film reunites the acclaimed filmmaker with producers Sarah Green and Nicolas Gonda, as well as cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki who all collaborated with him on Tree of Life and The New World. The film was executive produced by Glen Basner of FilmNation, and  Jason Krigsfeld and Joseph Krigsfeld of Brothers K Productions.

TO THE WONDER tells the story of Marina (Kurylenko) and Neil (Affleck), who meet in France and move to Oklahoma to start a life together, where problems soon arise. While Marina makes the acquaintance of a priest and fellow exile (Bardem), who is struggling with his vocation, Neil renews a relationship with a childhood sweetheart, Jane (McAdams). Bold and lyrical, the film is a moving, gorgeously shot exploration of love in its many forms.

E.L. James, author of the very popular Fifty Shades of Grey series, came to San Francisco yesterday, and signed for about 600 fans, lucky enough to snag tickets to the event.

The event was the only one for Northern California during her current whirlwind tour, and it took place at Books, Inc in the Opera Plaza of the San Francisco.

The fog had rolled in as James arrived in a white limo, I was a little disappointed half expecting her to pull up in an Audio R8, but hey that's just me. Honestly, I just wanted to drool over the car, and not just because Christian drives it in the books, but because the car is really a thing of beauty.

She arrived early, and her fans even earlier. Though the event was ticketed, and very well run I heard a few girls saying they had arrived hours earlier, to make sure they got their items signed. There were custom shirts many with quotes from the books, "Laters, Baby" being the most popular, a few "Keep Calm and Stow Your Twitchy Palms," and of course there were plenty of grey ties to be seen. For the most part though the crowd was pretty low key, and unless you knew James was signing tucked away in the children's section, you would have no clue what the huge crowd of people were doing.

The event was scheduled to run from 7pm to 930pm, and James spent every moment scribbling her signature down as quick as she could. Unfortunately, unlike most signings she had barely a moment to say hello before the next person was placed in front of her.

She did pause long enough, to ask my daughter, probably the youngest person there, and certainly the cutest,  if the books were for her, which they most certainly are not, and she nicely signed the button she was wearing.

 We got some pretty cool stuff signed. I managed to get 2 sets of hard cover books, which if you love hard cover books like I do you know they're really hard to find for the Fifty Shades series, in fact they're special editions from the UK. I also got a boxed set, and an audio book signed by James.

All in all it was hectic, and completely worth it for... well you guys the readers, because starting Monday October 1st, there will be a contest to win the books that were signed! And if you want to see more pictures from the event check out our facebook!

He is best known as the Narrator and Teen Gohan from the Funimation dub of Dragonball Z. His first foray into television was as the lead voice (Rick Hunter) in the popular animated series "Robotech".   CYRIL LUMBOY is an Asian street fashion designer originally based in the Philippines. Now U.S.-based, she is known on the internet as dolldelight (fb.com/dolldelightpage) and has established that as her own brand. She began sewing four years ago starting with headpieces and eventually moving on to making her own dresses. Her work as a designer is now focused on wa-lolita and punk lolita as they are the substyles that best allow her to experiment in the art of mixing prints.  KAZHA is a rock band from Japan. Lead singer Kazuha Oda started the band after her successful solo career working on over 20 records in Japan. She has worked with a wide variety of different performers including the Grammy winning pianist Bob James.  Kazha debut in Japan with the release of the first EP "Breathe Through Your Dreams" from Victor Entertainment in September 2009. With the release of the first album "Overture" in April 2010, Kazha made their first National tour in North America and South America. They recently made their European debut performing at Abunai Convention in August 2012.   Kazha represents the new future of the world music with a fusion of cultures and musical viewpoints  which create their sound. Their music combines the softness of a falling feather with the heaviness of a hurricane. Raj sang the opening credits song "Ask DNA" and wrote the lyrics for "Cosmic Dare (Pretty with a Pistol)" from the fan favourite feature film Cowboy Bebop: the Movie, and both sang and wrote the lyrics for "Strangers" from the anime series Wolf's Rain. Synopsis:

Seeking a fresh start, newly divorced Sarah (Oscar®-nominee Elisabeth Shue; Leaving Las Vegas, Piranha 3D) and her daughter Elissa (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Lawrence; The Hunger Games, X-Men: First Class) find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town.
